Julianne Moore at the Big Lebowski blue ray party: lovely or clownish?

I love these pictures so much. Over the weekend I went to my 20th high school reunion and it was a blast. It was just so much fun that I want to go to reunions for just about everything I was ever involved with. Even the people I barely remembered were awesome after 20 years. So that’s what these photos of some of the castmembers of one of the ultimate guy movies (for my generation), 1998’s Big Lebowski, remind me of.

I was so enthralled by the awesome camaraderie of the cast members that were there that I almost overlooked Julianne Moore’s giant bow dress. That Jason Wu dress is ridiculous and reminds me of a clown bow tie, but like the beaming child in this novelty tie, Julianne is just so thrilled that I almost didn’t notice how ridiculous she looked.

As far as the other castmembers, I’m so happy to see The Dude Jeff Bridges, who currently has an album out, his first called Be Here Soon, with which he collaborated with T. Bone Burnett! Bridges says that people who say the album is of “Bad Blake” songs (his character in Crazy Heart), are “50% correct” and that some of the songs were meant for Crazy Heart but couldn’t make it into the movie. T-Bone Burnett also oversaw music for Big Lebowski, and he’s the tall guy in some of the group photos here. You can watch Jeff perform on the Today Show here. He’s so awesome.

Noticeably absent were Steve Buscemi and (maybe) Tara Reid, although Reid was in it for a hot second, am I wrong?

This picture of John Goodman hugging Jeff Bridges is amazing.

I don’t know how I feel about Moore’s shoes.

Update: Steve Buscemi was there, yay! We just don’t have a photo of him there, but Lainey does.

    I love this movie. I think it’s my favorite Coen brothers film. It’s nice to see Jeff reunited with his ‘lady-friend’ 🙂

  2. mia135 says:

    Lovely! Very demure and elegant. Not clownish or ridiculous at all. She looks gorgeous. The leopard shoes give a nice edge to the overall outfit, and stop it from venturing into “librarian chic.”

  3. Stubbylove says:

    One of my favorite movies of all time – HUGE love for The Dude, Walter & Donnie.

  4. meilamon says:

    I saw this movie a few months ago for the first time actually because I read about how it was one of the greatest movies of all time. But please help me out-why? Not being snarky at all, maybe I just didn’t “get it.”

  5. bc says:

    The rug really ties the room together.

  6. VV says:

    She’s not my special lady, she’s my fucking lady friend. I’m just helping her conceive, man!

    hahahah LOVE that movie.

  7. Celebitchy says:

    Ha, I forgot to mention the rug. Thanks bc!

  8. jc126 says:

    Meilamon, I just saw it last week, and while it was okay, I also didn’t see what the big deal was. And I LOVE a lot of the Coen Brothers movies, but this one was just okay.

  9. Valerie says:

    I don’t understand. Is the film being re-released? If it came out in ’98, then it’s not an anniversary year now. Confusing.

  10. MJ says:

    “Guy movies”?! Yeah, well, you know, that’s just, like, your opinion, man. I’m a woman and this is one of my top 3 comedies of all time. LOVE IT.

    Julianne Moore is a woman who should ignore the old “dress for your age” rule. She looks the same in the face as she did in the movie 13 years ago, but this outfit makes her look older, like the headmistress at Zooey Deschanel’s mime academy.

  11. Pyewacket says:

    Love Moore’s shoes, but stockings would have been nice.

    And ITA with MJ, not a guy and I love the movie.

  12. peacelovekitty says:

    Hey, nice marmot!

    My NUMBER 1 favorite movie of all time…

  13. islandwalker says:

    That’s my least fav Coen Bro’s movie although I love the cast. She’s a class act but the outfit does seem heavy and it does seem to age her.

  14. whybenice says:

    I don’t know — in a much needed change from the world’s current events, it looks like people having a great time and happy to be together.

  15. bella says:

    Julianne looks lovely as usual. I agree that the shoes save it. I’ve got to say, it’s great seeing John Goodman looking trimmer. We saw him 2 years ago in an NYC restaurant and got to shake hands with him. He was so overweight and sweating profusely. He couldn’t even fit in the chair! Good going, John.

    @ meliamon I recommend multiple viewings of this film. Because there is so much comic-gold in it the first time I saw it I missed half of what went on and also wasn’t that into it(The same reason it didn’t get great reviews on its initial run). Every scene is a perfect set up with small details and lines that just stick with you. Every character is just so cray-cray….Oh and I too am a girl so I don’t think of it as a guy movie at all.
    Oh and I love that Juliette is dressed in a Maude like get up demure with racy shoes. “Love me, Jeffrey”

  17. Muffy says:

    The dude was right, that rug really did tie the room together. Sorry for those who don’t get it, Jeff Bridges ROCKS! He is truly cool man, gives back to his fans. Love him!

  18. Joan says:

    Isabella Rosselini? She was not in the movie, unless I’m quite mistaken.

    Great film! It is definitely worth replacing the DVD for a Blu-Ray. Can’t wait. 🙂

  19. gee says:

    Steve Buscemi was there I thought? Just not in these pics!

    And I HATE Julianne Moore. She bothers the hell out of me.

  20. Alexa says:

    Julianne Moore looks so g.d. cool and classy! Her outfit is something I’d pick out to wear and would feel like a billion bucks in. I guess my style sensibilities developed back in the 80’s in my early teens when the local downtown was a hot spot for students at the several ivy league colleges in the area. When hanging out to browse the shops and grab a bite to eat, I couldn’t help but gawk at the college girls I’d see. They were the most elegant, rich-looking and classy ladies that I’d ever seen. It was then that my fashion aspirations were born and to this day I still love the looks of the old-money rich I spy from time to time. (The look I’m talking about might be considered TRULY preppy!)

    BTW: My yearly income is either a little or a LOT below the poverty line. Thank goodness for awesome Salvation Army thrift stores in my area! (lol…)

  21. Stubbylove says:

    For those of you who didn’t get much out of the movie the first time you saw it – please watch it again – it may grow on you – it’s a very different perspective each time you see it – I hope you enjoy it – if not – to each their own!

  22. Hautie says:

    I loved this movie too.

    But I have notice with others either you love this movie… or just don’t get it.

    Those Coen’s have a very distinct humor. That I truly appreciate.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Walter: I’m shomer shabbos.
    Donny: What’s that?
    Walter: “Saturday, Donny, is Shabbos, the Jewish day of rest. That means that I don’t work, I don’t drive a car, I don’t f*cking ride in a car, I don’t handle money, I don’t turn on the oven, and I sure as shit don’t f*cking roll*!”
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Best part is that he isn’t even Jewish.

    But the biggest laugh for me, was when the Sheriff, hit The Dude in the forehead with his coffee mug.

    Just square in the head.

    I wasn’t expecting it. And I just died when it happen.

  23. MJ says:

    Alexa – No shame in that! I’m lucky enough to still have a moderate income during the current tough times, but I still shop at the Sally Ann! I am way too cheap to spend my hard-earned cash on work clothes and trends… I just hit up consignment stores and Value Village for that stuff.

  24. dr.bombay says:

    I like Julianne’s shoes, but they kinda get lost in the carpet.

  25. xbmc blu ray says:
