Helen Mirren in red Michael Kors at a screening: stunning, fabulous or meh?

OMG, have you see the trailer for The Debt? I’m SO seeing this movie. But I love stories about Mossad and the Cold War – Spielberg’s Munich is one of the best movies ever! Anyway, The Debt. It’s a film told in two storylines – these three Mossad agents are hunting a Nazi war criminal in the USSR in the years after WWII, and then the three agents as senior spies, reflecting on their mission and how the mission was screwed up. Helen Mirren is one of the spies! And Jessica Chastain plays the young Mirren character. The film also stars Sam Worthington, Marton Csokas, Tom Wilkinson, and Ciarán Hinds (*squeal*). Here’s the trailer. It looks so good.

Anyway, Mirren and Chastain were the stars of a screening last night. Or should I say, Helen Mirren was the star, because the bitch looks AMAZING. Helen’s red dress is Michael Kors. I even love her blowout! I guess I should mention that Dame Helen is wearing fug ankle shoes/booties, though. She has great legs, but you can’t tell because of her shoe choice.

Jessica Chastain (who is in everything these days) wore an edited Christian Dior from 2008. It’s pretty, although it’s hit-or-miss wearing such a pale color when you’re a pale redhead. Jessica makes it work, though, and she’s got a killer figure. The makeup is overdone – raccoon eyes! I blame Duchess Kate.

And Alan Cumming, for no reason other than he’s fabulous and he needs to STOP. I do not need to see Cumming’s cleavage.

Stunning, without a doubt. Helen is always stunning. I saw a preview for that movie on TV and it looks freaking amazing. I totally wanna see it.

  2. DoMaJoReMc says:

I agree with Love Angelina: ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! (as always!)

  3. Eve says:

It didn’t sound interesting to me but then I saw two magic words: CIARÁN HINDS. I love him so much!

  4. Mourning the Death of Music says:

I agree with the dislike of the shoes. They make it appear that she has cankles.

  5. orion70 says:

She is always fabulous, and I am also so seeing this movie. For starters I think Ciaran Hinds is incredibly underrated as an actor, love him!! Generally great cast here.

  6. horizonte says:

i would love to see a good mossad story movie, but they usually suck! munich was unbelievably corny, daniel craig was a caricature for heaven’s sake. the only one i liked was a small israeli production called “walk on water” if you get rid of all the romantic bits. damn, i would kill to see a good mossad movie with actual multidimensional characters, rather than the usual cardboard bland good guys vs the evil baddies. do you really see a monster nazi doctor saying “boo”?!

  7. azurea says:

Well, she kind of does have cankles.
Still stunning though! And thanks for the
Alan Cumming….I’m in a terrible mood, and he is delightful. Made me laugh!

  8. Quest says:

Helen never fails to amaze. Love it.

  9. ladybert62 says:

I dont really like red but DAMN she looks fantastic. And I agree about the shoes.

Helen looks great with short hair.

  10. TQB says:

Yeah, those shoes are making this sort of a scroll down fug. She looks fantastic in that color, however. Shorter hemline and better shoes, please!

  11. TG says:

This is the first I heard of the movie and now I have to see it too. And even though someone mentioned “Munich” was corny I have to see that one too. I woulnd’t want the Mossad on my tail they are relentless in pursuit of their quarry. Ever since my baby was born 8 months ago, I am totally out of it on movies. I like Helen Mirren and think she looks great here. I hope my husband finds me beautiful when I am older.

  12. Stubbylove says:

Stunning – fabulous haircut and gorgeous cut/color dress. I want to be Helen when I grow up. Can’t wait to see this film!

  13. Sue says:

Helen looks fantastic but the movie doesn’t look good to me.

  14. Micah says:

    Straight up Fabulous.

  15. rentho says:

    STUNNING!!!!!

  16. Alecsma says:

Love the dress and the colour on Helen, just wish it had been better tailored so that there wasn’t so much excess fabric under her arms.

  17. Sillyone says:

Picture perfect. I don’t think there is anything this women could possibly do to make me say anything ill of her.

  18. Seal Team 6 says:

Helen Mirren is always fabulous and always stunning. She could make sackcloth and ashes look couture.

  19. zephyr says:

    Delicious colour for Dame Helen.
    Ghastly shoes 🙁

  20. Celebs.com says:

GODDESS. She makes Jessica Chastain look like crud!

  21. What a foxy lady!!

  22. Christine says:

Helen has been my girl crush for a while. She is stunning. I love the cut of her hair! And excellent foundation garments.

  23. Rita says:

It’s Helen, so at the very least its lovely and approaching fabulous.

  24. Cheyenne says:

The dress is meh; the color is fabulous.

  25. Eve says:

    @ Horizonte:

Munich was not only corny, but manicheistic and oversimplistic.

  26. spinner says:

I love Helen & would see the movie solely for her. I am tired of these same old stereotypical movies. Spielburg grates on my last nerve too.

  27. Denise says:

The original Israeli film was great; it was hard wading through the subtitles, but worth the time. I hope Hollywood does it justice.

  28. Jenn says:

Helen Mirren is a fantastic example of how to look good at her age, but not try to Botox herself into oblivion or pretend she’s 25. She accepts herself and takes care of herself and is fine with who she is- she’s MY hero.

  29. sam says:

Why the ‘fabulous or meh’ title?

If you are going to say she looked great then why not just own it and title the story accordingly. 🙂

  30. taylor says:

Um, WHY is Ciaran Hinds given less of a billing than Sam Worthington?! I get that Worthington has been in bigger movies, but Hinds is an AMAZING actor and Worthington is…sort of cute?

OT: Helen Mirren always looks wonderful and this is no exception. But yes, those shoes are a terrible choice.

  31. sandy#1 says:

i like the dress and color on helen, she looks good here.

  32. Jane says:

Gorgeous as all ways. God I just love her! Hot Damn!

  33. Mrs Harrison Ford says:

She looks fabulous but those shoes are atrocious!
