Guy Ritchie parties with Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr.

If you look at old photos of Guy Ritchie out with Madonna, you can kind of tell that things went sour for them quite a while ago. Guy had this kind of pained look on his face like he’s enduring the outing as best as he can. This isn’t always true, and he sometimes looked happy after a few drinks, but compared to photos taken of him without Madonna you can tell he was more carefree, like a nagging weight was taken off his shoulders. This was definitely the case when Ritchie was seen out partying with Jude Law and Robert Downey, Jr. in London last night, and maybe he feels that way all the time now that the divorce is finally underway.

The trio was seen out at the White Cube Gallery last night in London, where they attended an opening for contemporary artist Sam Taylor Wood. They’re currently working on the film Sherlock Holmes together, which is filming in the city and is directed by Ritchie. Law is sporting the new mustache for his role as Dr. Watson. Ritchie is rumored to be having a relationship with Kelly Reilly, an actress in the film. It’s not the only rumored fling for Ritchie. According to the National Enquirer, his estranged wife Madonna accused him of cheating on her with an ex girlfriend he was seen out to lunch with. This was before the two announced their impending divorce but after Madonna was publicly linked to Alex Rodriguez. She may have been projecting her guilt onto Ritchie, according to this report, by accusing him of the very thing she was guilty of:

Madonna pulled the plug on the marriage because she believes Ritchie is [a] skirt chaser.

“She says he chases women - stagehands, publicists, you name it - whoever’s involved in his movies, business dealings or just happened to be there.”

Adding fuel to the fire, Ritchie’s been seen out with gorgeous blonde Tania Strecker, a 35-year-old TV host. The two were recently spotted at a London restaurant having lunch.

The strong-willed entertainer was furious when she found out, and just weeks ago had a screaming match in New York with Guy over his relationship with Strecker, divulged an insider.

That’s when she accused her director-husband of cheating and reportedly added: “I just don’t trust you anymore!”

Disclosed the insider: “Madonna is convinced it was a lot more than just lunch - and there were a lot more women than Tanie.

“She believes the worst about Tania, who infuriated her when she let slip Guy was still seeing her not long after he started dating Madonna.”

But pals of 40-year-old Ritchie insist there’s nothing to Madonna’s fears.

[From The National Enquirer, print edition, November 3, 2008]

The Enquirer goes on to quote Ritchie’s friend, named as commentator Rick Sky, as saying that he’s not one to cheat and that Ritchie “would rather spend time in the pub drinking with his buddies.”

This sounds like just another false story from Madonna’s people aimed at smearing Guy. If he was cheating we would have heard about it a lot sooner.

This week’s Hello Magazine has a much more complete and detailed insider report of how Guy and Madonna’s relationship ended. I read it, and was going to report on the whole thing, but it’s a very long article and is covered quite well by Lainey at Lainey Gossip. Basically a friend of Guy’s says that the relationship was over for some time and that Madonna wanted to wait to tell the press until her tour was over. Madonna’s focus on her tour and physique pushed them apart, and she was livid that Guy was hanging out partying with his friends and making her look bad, even though they had already agreed to separate at that point. It was Guy who ended up making the announcement to the press. Lainey has more details and there’s more in the latest issue of Hello! with Madonna and Guy on the cover.

  2. Yeah, Lainey is surprisingly Team Madonna. 8O

Am I alone in wishing that Jude and Guy become each other’s skeevy wingmen, and spend the next year bedding as many babes as possible?

  3. OMG! Guy can smile. He’s so much better-looking with a pleasant expression on his face. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a picture of him smiling before.

Wishing him well. Seems like he’ll be much better off on his own than in a loveless marriage.

  4. What losers.Guy has no talent, its wellknown in the Uk that he has based his whole career on his rich stepfather and then Madge,he is also a bully and a drunk.I predict this will be another flop.I wonder why Jude Law is even being chosen anymore.Non of his movies has been a hit for years.

  5. I think I’ve temporarily run out of things to say about the Guy/Madge situation. Nowhere new to go.

  6. It’s the company he keeps geronimo……nothing else against him—-BTW, who’s first?

..and Kate is right –look at how women are portrayed in Ritchies movies

and as for Jude Law….he’s sunk to being in a Guy Ritchie movie - ’nuff said

  7. Javier Bardem. And re RDJ, I know what you’re saying but, in my fantasy world, I’M the only company he keeps….

  8. Guy looks relieved and much happier now. He did have success before he met Madonna. It’s after he met her that his career took a nosedive, namely because she starred in that dog of a movie - Swept Away. He was just stroking her big ego when she got that part.

  9. Geronimo….. Javier Bardem  is a whole different ballgame

Leandra…..Madonna is not only to blame for the the failure of the movie she did star in (admittedly, a dog) but is also to blame for the failure of the movies she didn’t star in? She’s also to blame for the fact that Carlos Leon didn’t become a multi award winning movie star by your logic

  11. All you need to compare the difference between Guy around Madonna and Guy not around Madonna is to compare the RocknRolla premieres in London (with Madge) and in LA (without Madge).

He looks waaaay more relaxed and happy at the one in LA.

  14. I would love to hang out platonically with RDJ. He’d regale me with stories of his chanagins and capers, buy me top-shelf drinks (eat it, Fleishmen’s), and tuck me snugly into bed while I slept off my raging hangover - visions of Hollywood dancing in my head.

  15. @jaundice
I would love to do all those things with RDJ except that pesky platonic part ^^
(and to mods, I know you’re not supposed to change your name, but I haven’t posted in so long that I can’t honestly remember what I used for a handle. I’ll stick with this one though, I know I’ll remember it, it was my favorite role in high school!)

  19. I’ve had a crush on Robert Downey, Jr. since I was in 1st or 2nd grade. I hope he doesn’t relapse. I think it is scary-bad stupid for a recovering druggie to go out boozing…but I can still hope he is just having a good time with friends and that he isn’t pushing himself to a dangerous spot.

  20. I feel he is relieved he is out of the marriage but is worried mainly for his son Rocco. That kid is like his clone, so cute! Guy is handsome he must have plenty women crazy to catch him.

  21. I think it’s going a bit far to say that Tania Atrecker is “gorgeous”. Also meeting someone for lunch is hardly sneaking around and cheating.
