Taylor Lautner woos Twihards with “intense, intense steamy scene” in ‘Abduction’

I find myself in the precarious position of wishing that Taylor Lautner’s new movie, Abduction, would just come out already. It feels like we’ve been hearing about it for years, right? Let’s just get it over with so that the box-office sort out his fate as a so-called “action star.” Yes, Lautner seems like a really sweet kid, but I am pretty tired of Hollywood telling us that he’s the next big thing without any backup numbers, so let’s get this show on (or off) the road already. Fortunately, the time has almost arrived for Team Jacob members to throw down (or not) for their man — Abduction releases on September 23 against Brad Pitt’s Moneyball and Killer Elite starring Jason Statham, Clive Owen, and Robert DeNiro. How will Lautner’s action thriller pic fare against the competition? I am predicting a $15 million opening weekend at the very most, so we’ll see what happens. In the meantime, Lautner sat down with VMan magazine to promote his flick:

On Downtime: “If I’m not filming, I’m promoting, and if it wasn’t ‘Twilight,’ it was a different movie, so it got really busy. But yeah, no, I, you know, I hang out with my friends, family, and kind of just – I don’t even know. It’s like, when I am not filming, it seems like – I don’t even know what I do.”

On Publicity Tours: “I go to a beautiful city, spend the whole time in a hotel room, then I’m back on a plane to the next place.”

On Staying Sane With The Twilight Cast: “It was really helpful that all of us were going through the same thing at the same time. I think if we didn’t have that sort of relationship it would have been tough. It would have felt pretty lonely. Because when you are filming for these Breaking Dawn movies, we were filming for seven months — and if you’re there alone the whole time even with the cast members, like on a day off, or on weekends, you’d go nuts.”

On Abduction: “I call it an action-drama-thriller-romance, I mean it’s got everything in it,” he said, adding that there’s an “intense, intense steamy scene” between him and co-star Lily Collins.

[From VMan via HuffPo]

Here’s the tricky thing though: Lautner is currently in the midst of a romantic relationship with his Abduction co-star, Lily Collins, who just happens to be playing Snow White (to Julia Roberts’ Evil Queen) in the upcoming Snow White battle of the bitches. And of course, his Twilight co-star, Kristen Stewart, has the lead role in Snow White and The Huntsman. For his part, Lautner told US Magazine that “Kristen’s going to be cool and edgy and dark,” but “Lily’s gonna be great too. And a completely different feel.” Uh-oh. I see a very uncomfortable situation on the horizon for poor Lautner when these two Snow White movies finally hit theaters.

Once again, here’s a few production stills (and a poster) for Abduction … just in case you wanted to refresh your memory of what Lautner looks like when he’s humping a kitchen cabinet:

Is he related to lurch kardashian?

  2. someone says:

maybe it’s just me, but I do not understand the appeal to this guy…he just doesn’t do it for me. no hate, he seems alright, but not my cup of tea.

  3. Esmom says:

Kid needs to expand his repertoire of facial expressions to include more than one. As for the photo shoot, it made me laugh. He is about as far from edgy as anyone can get…and it shows. He’s just a suburban teenager! And not a particularly attractive one at that.

  4. Helen says:

This will suck MAYJAH ass – or so I hope, so he can just go away. I find Sparkles relatively harmless next to this guy, acting-wise. TayTay wouldn’t know acting if it bit him in those well-defined pecs of his.

As for the photospread, Jesus Chris dude, grow a pair and remove all that lipgloss and heavy foundation!

  5. Pyewacket says:

He is really strange looking to me. It’s the mostly delicate features with a GIANT nose and cro-mag brow.

He had the potential to be hot, but somewhere the mix ended up scrambled.

  6. Dizzybenny says:

OK!just saw the trailer on youtube and they did the smart thing in surrounding him with very good actors to support him.
Looks a bit like a Jason Bourne type movie.Probably go see it on a cheap tuesday night.
On the plus side it’s not a 3D movie 🙂

  7. Sigh. says:

I’ll admit it, I skimmed this too fast and read “would just come out already,” then my eye jumped to the bedframe pic, and – I think you follow me on this.

And I’m sorry, but the poster…is he supposed to be scissor-kicking a glass across a dance floor, or…?

And GButt’s “Machine Gun Preacher” is set to release that same weekend…which is getting pretty good reviews from critics so far. Good luck, kid.

  8. Mary jones says:

Ted on Eonline pretty much outed him a few weeks ago. Said everyone in his camp knows his secret. Nothing wrong with that. I guess it would hurt his career to admit it.

  9. yepp says:

I will see it if some one takes me.. while i do love Twilight. I am not about to give Jacob.. I mean Taylor my hard earned money, if push comes to shove i will wait for netflix (those bastards raised prices again) and get my money’s worth!

  10. yepp says:

@ Mary Jones…. wait what??!!! i didnt even know we thought he was gay or bi? do we think that? is that the general consensus?

  11. Sue says:

Sigh@ when I look it up it shows that “Machine Gun Preacher” is only being release September 23, 2011 in New York / Los Angeles, their no nationwide release.

  12. mia girl says:

    @yepp
Yes, that is the general consensus, with the exception being teenage girls.

I just read that Lautner is in talks to star in Goliath – an action take on David and Goliath… he being David and The Rock playing Goliath,

  13. Sam says:

the movie poster looks like a little boy holding a gun. weird.

  14. Cheyenne says:

I don’t care if he can’t act for sh*t (and no I am not going to see that movie), that VMAN cover is GORGEOUS!

  15. kieslwoski says:

I just totally do not see the qppeal of this guy, at all.

It seems ridiculous that he got 12 millioln for this movie with no proven box office muscle. Cannot wait to see how this movie does at the box office.

  16. danielle says:

He’s a good looking kid. I feel a little bad that he is so picked on online – do we even know if he’s an ok actor or not? He might not have been good in Twilight, but from what I hear, NO ONE was any good in that – it’s a cheese fest.

  17. lilred says:

Well, he has his blue steel look down cold.

  18. Denise says:

Another site nailed it; he looks like Grace Jones in this photo shoot.

  19. Toe says:

Wait wait….Taylor is gay? or i mean Bi?? Hai madre mio!!!

  20. Sigh. says:

    @ Sue:

Sorry if I got you excited (or offended?)! I didn’t mean to imply a nationwide release (regretfully, I am in neither city, and disappointed that I have to wait). My point was with that also in 2 major markets, Lautner has even more competition besides usually lauded/lucrative DeNiro, Pitt, Stratham, Owen, etc, that might also cut into his bottomline/Twihard fanbase showing.

    @ Mary Jones:
I remember there were whispers that Taylor Swift was thought to be, ahem, “on assignment” when she was with him (for both of their careers), but I didn’t know about Ted C’s 2 cents worth on the matter.

  21. Hibiscus says:

I saw a clip of a fight-scene from “Abduction” and it put a big smile on my face.

It reminded me of how sick I am of all the CGI battle crap today and how much I am missing to see good old fighting with people who know how to MOVE their bodies (like in old Bruce Lee films from the 70ies).
Taylor Lautner as a former martial-arts champion certainly can do that. And that’s what’s relevant for this kind of film.

I think this will be a lot of pure fun with great action scenes, lots of over-the-top intense close-up shots from Taylor and an interesting support cast.

    Looking forward to it.

    .

  22. Abby says:

This guy definitely has the hardest working pr team (teams: two have fired him) around. They’ve been insisting he’s king of the new A-list for several years now, yet this is the only thing he’s done outside Twilight. He’s more a Paris Hilton famous for being famous type than an actual actor.

  23. elvynn says:

I don’t trust Ted! Just see the bullshit he writes about that silly saga (twilight).
So i reserve my judgement about him.
I am going to see this movie… it seems fun without complications.

  24. Lindsey G. says:

Yuck! Are people actually attracted to this kid?

  25. sharylmj says:

he will always be shark-boy in my eyes, no matter what they do <3

  26. Jane says:

Meh, this “movie” (lol…….) will probably be a hit. It´s from the same dude that made that godawful “Eagle Eye” with Shia LaDouche. It looks so ridiculous from the trailer, I really can´t fathom when people say it looks “amazing” or something. I know people have different standarts on what they find entertaining, but COME ON.

  27. gee says:

I reaaaally don’t like the styling of this photoshoot, but he is so adorable. Still like a boy. He’s a manboy.

  28. FingerBinger says:

He looks like someone dipped him in baby oil and then covered him with vaseline.

  29. Stubbylove says:

Sweet kid, hotter than hell, dumb as a box of rocks. I hope he doesn’t get taken taken advantage of too much.

  30. Amanda says:

Like some of the other posted I don’t get the appeal. He has got nice hair and teeth tho!

  31. Erinn says:

Wow, in most of those photos his face looks so weird. It almost looks like the kind of artwork in video games- close to human but not quite.

I’ve been waiting for a while for the guy to come out. But at the same time, he might just be a more feminine guy. If that’s the case, I feel bad for him. But I also understand how much money he’d stand to lose in the teen girl area if he did come out.

I still think of him as the kid from Cheaper By The Dozen 2.

  32. Victoria says:

Starting to think that Tay Tay is gaylicious Par Par that Ted Casablanca is speaking of in his BVs. My Gaydar always goes off on him.

  33. aquarius64 says:

Ted C has stated Lautner and Collins are over. I think they’re done too: he has not visited the SW set while she practically lived on the Breaking Dawn set. This VMAN article talks about his lonely nights, funny TL does not mention his gf who visited him. The gay claim: unless there’s a tape of him with a guy there’s no proof. His BV could be he chases skirt. Or he’s addicted to porn. Or he sees hookers, who knows? Anyone of these flies in the face of his clean-cut all-American image that makes him safe for teens and tweens.

  34. LittleDeadGrrl says:

He seems like a nice kid but he’s NOT a good actor and the movie poster is not helping. He looks like he’s 15 and I want to tell him to stop playing with his daddy’s gun and go to school

  35. Laura says:

I just cannot take him seriously.
