Elisabeth Hasselbeck is campaigning with Sarah Palin this weekend

Staunch conservative Republican Elisabeth Hasselbeck got the call of her dreams this week when Sarah Palin called and asked her to join the VP candidate on the campaign trail in Florida this weekend. Hasselbeck was visibly excited when announcing her plans for the next few days on The View.

Gov. Palin asked me to be with her this Sunday to introduce her at the rallies in Florida. I am more than honored to be there,” Hasselbeck said Thursday on the TV talk show. “I’ll have some stories, I’m sure, on Monday.”

Palin is scheduled to appear Sunday at campaign rallies in Tampa and Kissimmee, Fla.

Hasselbeck has worn her support for the Republican ticket proudly: Earlier this week, she appeared on the show in a T-shirt with the lettering: “Great AmeriMcCain Hero.”

Florida is a battleground state for the candidates, so I guess Palin thought she’d pull in the big guns for this weekend. While it sounds like I’m joking, The View has proven to be one of the most successful vehicles for publicity for both tickets this election year, aside from Saturday Night Live. People’s opinions about how the women on The View conduct their interviews are as varied as the party affiliations of viewers, but no matter your opinion it does provide an enormous amount of exposure for the candidates. Palin secures her name mentioned in every show next week by bringing Hasselbeck out to Florida, and getting people talking is what it’s all boiling down to in these last weeks.

As for Elisabeth, you know she is so excited she’s practically peeing her pants. Sarah Palin is who Elisabeth Hasselbeck wants to be when she grows up. Next week Hasselbeck is going to be feeling like her new best friend is going to be the Vice President of the United States and she’s barely going to be able to contain herself. It should make for some entertaining, or insufferable (depending how you feel about it) exchanges with her co-hosts on The View. Stay tuned!

  3. This woman is annoying beyond belief. One can hope that when she actually grows up she’ll look upon this era in her life with embarrassment and realize what a numbskull she was. I don’t know how Whoopi puts up with it.

  4. No offense to Ms. H., but she has to be one of the most uninformed “harpies” on the campaign trail. When I listen to her talk, I hear someone who repeats campaign slogans with no independent thought or intellect whatsoever. She reminds me of a child. One thing is certain, she hasn’t researched Palin’s record at all. Astonishing. Frightening.

  5. It’s funny that CB put pics up of the two women with their mouths hanging open, as if both were caught mid-insane-folksy-rant.

Can’t stand either. Hope Florida goes for Obama though…but I’m not counting on it.

  6. Stellapurdy, I didn’t know which woman you were talking about until the Whoopi line! As for Hasselbeck, I hope she will be able to restrain herself unlike the last time she spoke to a Republican audience. Palin would be mentioned every day on the View regardless of EH’s weekend tour of duty. Palin’s the gift that keeps on giving. I’m betting Monday will be one of the few days EH doesn’t call Sean Hannity for the daily talking points as she’ll be too busy gushing over her girl crush.

  8. I hate Elisabeth. She talks so fast and with such nonesense it drives me crazy. I can’t watch her or listen to her. I don’t see how Sarah Palin thought this would be a good idea. EH is one notch above Sarah on the public hate list.

  12. It gets better; the stupid b*tch is STILL stumping with that phony Joe The Plumber bullcrap and people are so brain-dead, so mouth-breathingly moronic they are showing up with signs to the rallies saying things like “I am Joe the Farmer”.

  21. As if Sarah Palin up there with her usual lack of knowledge (the VP gets to “run” the Senate) wasn’t enough, now there’s motormouth Elizabeth Hasselback as backup screeching a mile a minute.

  22. What truly scares me is the size of the ignorant base Palin appeals to. And these terrible things they shout at her rallies? It’s just mind boggling, and frightening.

  30. Mccain has just totally given up. What an embarrassing person to have an association with during a campaign. Even Republicans cant stand her! I am embarrassed such a great country can be filled with such money grubbing celebrity humping idiots. There are decent, educated people out there. Why are we resorting to this??
