Jennifer Garner at the Butter premiere in sparkly pink Valentino: pretty or overdone?

tiff_butter_premiere_3_wenn
Pregnant Jennifer Garner looked rather lovely last night at the TIFF premiere of Butter, wherein she plays a contestant in a butter sculpting contest. The film is a political satire comedy, and Garner’s character is said to be similar to Sarah Palin or Michelle Bachman. Producer Harvey Weinstein personally invited Bachman to the movie’s premiere in Iowa. Weinstein issued a statement that Bachman and other Tea Party members could be flown in on his dime. It was a pretty clever marketing strategy on his part.

In terms of this dress, it’s not my favorite. I know I said in our last Garner post that I like to see pregnant ladies in empire waist gowns, but this Valentino number looks a little too fussy and glittery for my tastes. It’s like a Barbie princess dress with all that stuff going on at the bodice and the tulle overlay on the skirt. Her hair and makeup look gorgeous though. She has some very good people. Again, Garner is matching her lipstick to her dress color and it doesn’t look too matchy. She’s so pretty when she’s made up.

Garner gave a quick interview to USA Today at the premiere. She said a few disjointed things about wearing heels while pregnant, keeping her kids entertained in the car and drinking coffee. My impression of her interview could just be based on the way USA Today is editing what she said. It probably flowed better in person, and she probably had to speak to so many people that night that she was talked out.

And she’s spending her day in impressively tall Prada heels. Not that Garner is bragging or anything. “I wore the short ones. Rachel Zoe would not be happy. I have some that are two inches taller that I wore last night,” she says. “You go through a training course when you’re in the Screen Actors Guild. They have an obstacle course in platform heels. Everybody you see out there, we’re all in it.”

Her rules for having a good time here:
“Snacks. We have snacks in the car. We have candy in the car.”
“While I’m very good about caffeine, I am also not afraid once or twice a pregnancy to have a half-caf latte. Today is one of those days.”
“Find ways to be as comfortable as possible and just go with it. It’s not an illness, being pregnant. I’m in the easiest part of it.”

[From USA Today via Just Jared]

I don’t think that the beginning of pregnancy is the easiest. I was puking all the time the first few months, but she’s probably at least four to five months along now, judging from these photos. She’s worn loose clothing up to now and all of a sudden she looks really pregnant. From what I remember it got easier from then on out. All I can really remember is the beginning and the end of my pregnancy, when I was extremely uncomfortable on both ends. The middle was kind of uneventful, so I guess I know what she’s saying.

Again, Garner is stunning on the red carpet. I’m one of those women who doesn’t go out without putting at least a little makeup on, and usually I put a small amount of thought into my outfit. I don’t get her day-to-day style, especially in comparison to what a knockout she is when she’s done up.

After writing that I saw these photos of Garner at the airport in LA on Monday, on her way to Toronto. She’s wearing makeup and is dressed casually cute. Good job.

And this is what she wore Monday out at TIFF. Holy boobs!

She looks lovely — and not, like most pregnant women these days, “in your face” with their bellies!

    Pretty.

And I don’t dislike Garner. It’s just that I usually find her so damn boring…plus I couldn’t believe when she said that the only curse word she used was “rats!”. Or maybe I’m too much of a potty mouth. *shrugs*

I know she hated ditching the mom uniform for a night,

And why does she keep holding her belly like that? Secret’s out, sweetie. Do some celebs due this so that it’s more difficult to guess how far along they are.

She looks very pretty! I like the tulle overlay on the skirt.

Maybe she’s holding her belly because it comforts her to do so? Plus, she probably feels like it comforts the baby, too. I think it’s sweet.

If I could say anything to Jen while she wears that pink Valentino thats out of her league, I would say “Stop posing like that, we already know your pregnant.”

I think she looks very pretty. Glad she isn’t doing the hand under the belly thing they all seem to like to do when pregnant.

i’m not a huge fan of the dress itself and i HATE satin platforms, but the color and sparkles make her look all glowy and pretty. i think i’d like it floor length, but then itd be a bit too dressy for this event. her hair is soooooo shiny!!

the dress is gorgeous pregnant women do that to show attactment to their unborn child/children. give Jennifer a break if she weren’t doing that people would say oh she doesn’t love the baby ect

She looks very pretty in the light colored dress.

I see no problem with her arms. She has to put them somewhere and those seem to be good positions. Otherwise, it’s having them dangle at her sides or putting them behind her back. There are only so many options when it comes to placement of arms.

  18. LadyJane says:

Satin platforms may look well in person, but they look ridic in photos. Like she is some sort of curly-toed stripper elf (from the ankles down).

Other than that – gorgeous in all photos.

  20. Lindy says:

I think she looks gorgeous–the pink sparkly dress might look overdone on someone else–especially someone blonde and fair–but with her darker hair and slightly dramatic makeup, it keeps things from looking too princessy or porcelain doll-like. I really like her–she seems like a good, grounded mom. I do wish she’d do the teeniest bit more to look put together when she’s out and about every day, but damn does she ever clean up good!

That’s a good thing, Jen and it probably means you are on the right track. Do you want to model yourself after an emaciated, haggard looking raisin?

Why isn’t she ever with her husband in these events? I can understand now I think he’s away but throughout their whole marriage I rarely see them together on a red carpet or sharing in each other’s projects. Stop the show already. Everyone knows you’re married and you don’t have to answer questions about your personal life if you don’t want to.

i dont like seeing her crossing her arms in front of her belly, like she’s ashamed. i bet ben is hard on her about her size, given how skinny she gets when she’s not pregnant. feeling gross and not attractive at times while pregnant-ok, understandable. ashamed of your belly when pregnant-horrible.

Wow, she’s a cute pregnant. My sisters and I think women tend to either be really cute pregnant or get really ugly. I was the hideous, ugly, fat kind of pregnant with each of my four babies. She looks awesome though- happy for her.

Crikey, she’s getting big. That baby bump has had a “woosh” factor; both times she was in the third trimester, Jen looked like she was gonna explode. This’ll be fun to watch again :D

I like the dress but I’d have chosen a longer hem.

  42. Kosmos says:

I think Garner has real natural beauty, even without makeup. With makeup, she looks stunning….she’s also a nice woman, not self-centered like so many. About the dress, it’s okay. I love the soft color on her, but the bodice could have been better shaped for her. Also, I think she should have worn strappy heels, not the clunky ones. She’s got full legs, so she’d look great in barely there shoes. Otherwise, her face looks lovely and I don’t see too many natural beauties who can rival that.

  43. Blithe says:

She’s probably one of the only women in hollywood who I believe hasn’t had plastic surgery. And dayum, she was blessed with some really great genes. Her pictures from high school and throughout her career show the same features, the same bone structure. I know there’s a lot of hate for her on this particular blog, but imho, she’s one of the most beautiful women in hollywood. And she still holds that title (imo) after giving birth to 3 kids. Kudos. As for the outfit, I love it. I loved the color on the last one, but the hem was atrocious. This is great and flatters her skin even more. And once again, I must give props to another hollywood star who isn’t afraid to have some muscle tissue attached to their bones. She’s beautiful and I’m honestly over the moon that so many women in hollywood are starting to gain their weight back. Girls deserve better role models than insects.

I alwsys seemed to be holding my stomach when I was pregnant, but I was protecting the belly incase someone accidently bumped into me. I rested my arms on top of my stomach too but I liked the feel of the baby moving so I was always holding my tummy. No problem with that is there?? She certainly is not doing anything wrong. Good for her she is protecting that baby and loves it. She looks great in pink with her coloring. At least she isnt wearing black shoes with that dress or white..she dresses nicely and has great taste.
