I wasn’t even going to talk about this because I didn’t even want to let love in and hope against hope. According to Mitch Hurwitz, Arrested Development is coming back. Hurwitz is the creator of the show, and he’s teased this sh-t before, and nothing has ever come of it. But Hurwitz and the stars of AD did a panel discussion at the New York Film Festival, and it sounds like… this might be happening?
The idea is that they’ll film a mini-series, like, a half-season of 10 to 12 episodes where we find out what’s happened to all of the characters since the end of the show. Then, that miniseries will become the platform for an actual movie. It sounds too good to be true. It sounds like a dream. I can’t… I won’t… I’ll believe it when I see it. I’ve written about my love of AD before – that show was so awesome, so funny, so well-written and developed and acted that I still have residual feelings of warmth for every single person who ever appeared on it. Except maybe David Cross, but even then, I don’t hate him. Sigh… I’m going to find my DVDs and have an AD marathon this week. STEVE HOLT!

AD is such an excellent show. Pity it only lasted three seasons while inferior shows such as Gossip Girl and HIMYM are now into their 12th season.

There ARE a lot of worse television shows on @acornpaste… but I do enjoy HIMYM. You have to take into account that just because you don’t like something, it doesn’t make it terrible.
I can’t stand a lot of tv shows, but I don’t say that they’re terrible, just that I don’t like them.
I am SOOO excited for AD. I’m really hoping they’ll get a move on this… hopefully everyone’s schedules will allow it.

LOVE Arrested Development! Such a brilliant show–even more so than most people realize. I watched with a friend of mine who is incredibly well versed in television history and trivia, and he caught little “inside” jokes that were obviously meant for people like him. I thought it was amazing prior to watching with him, but I now realize it is pure brilliance!!!

This is one of my all time fav TV shows buy I got to say IMO its OK that it was cancelled I prefer 2 perfect seasons and one really good one then an additional 5 years of dreck.
Any tv/movie exec who doesn’t gee light this deserves the chicken dance.

I’ve watched an episode or two at least once a week since the show was cancelled, and I’ve been warily excited every time they’ve teased us with a movie. I never even dreamed that a return to TV would be possible, though, and somehow this time the news feels pretty real. The return of the Bluths?!?! I’ve been pinching myself all morning.
Also, when I read the story early this morning, I hoped you’d cover it, what with all the sly in-jokes you put in some of your articles (“Her?”)… your affinity for the show is one of my favorite things about you. I’m cautiously exuberant right along with you. They’d better not be stringing us along.

I hope this is true! Although I’m a bit cautious and wary that the mini-series and movie deliver. I’ve made quite a bit of comments on this site that refer to this show (the article where that girl from 30 Rock got voted hottest woman or something) so I think this is SOOOOO Awesome!

Disney World should replace their Sci Fi drive in movie theme restaurant to an AD theme. It’d be less torture on the wait staff who have to watch the same 20 minute loop of B movie clips during an 8 hour shift and any newbie can walk in on any scene of AD and be entertained. It never gets old.

I loved this show & then when it came back for the unexpected third seasoon and they had to figure out how to make all of the things from the second season finale work. Awesome. This just made my day.
