I don’t really follow Bethenny Frankel’s career and I didn’t watch “The Real Housewives of NY” when she was on. I’ve caught some of her solo reality show and found it mildly interesting. It struck me that she doesn’t have the best relationship with her new husband, but I really didn’t care too much about it either way. The thing that made me want to repeat this story is how incredibly bitchy and mean Bethenny’s mom Bernadette is being. This isn’t new, Bettheny has spoken out in the past about her terrible relationship with her mom, and her mom has denied Bettheny’s claims. As background I’ll include some of these priceless quotes from Bethenny’s mom in a July 2010 interview with The Enquirer. She’s such a bitch, but she amps it up in this more recent interview as I’ll cover in a moment:
Speaking about her mother in a recent interview, Bethenny, 39, stated: “I don’t want her to contact us and make it toxic. I’m never going to want her in my daughter’s life.”
A devastated Bernadette, 59, told The Enquirer: “I have kept my silence for many years. I didn’t want to say anything about the lies Bethenny has spread about me because she is my flesh and blood…”
Bettheny has claimed that her mom was a severe bulimic and “was always drinking.” Bernadette denies both allegations.
“I never got a DUI, and I couldn’t have held down the jobs I did if I had an alcohol problem,” she said. “They would have fired me…”
“I did everything I could to bond with her…
“All through her childhood, John [Bernadette's husband] was funding her. But after that, he hit a bad patch and could no longer pay her credit card bills.
“So she went to live with Bobby. She changed her name from Bethenny Parisella to Bethenny Frankel and cut John and I off.”
Bethenny has spoken to Bernadette only twice in the past 10 years.

Listen to this lady. She wasn’t an alcoholic because she didn’t get a DUI and kept some jobs. That’s how alcoholics justify their addiction. She was living high on the hog with her husband, and then kicked her daughter out because they couldn’t afford her. It gets worse though. She’s moved from defending herself to trashing Bethenny and hoping that her life goes horribly wrong.
Describing her daughter as narcissistic, Bernadette says the highly strung and driven Bethenny will get what she needs from the relationship – children – before casing Jason aside.
“Right now, he is a good father, but soon she won’t need him and she will dump him,” Bernadette tells Star exclusively. “Her husband seems like a really nice guy, but it won’t last. He is really too weak for her”
Even worse, says Bernadette, Bethenny will always put money and power before everything else – including her own family.
“She sells everything because money and power is No. 1 for her, and there is never enough,” says Bernadette. “I find it amazing that she discusses having another child with her husband, but she barely has time for the first one…
“She only puts herself around people who can do something for her,” Bernadette says. “It is amazing how she turned out just like her father…”
Claims the Skinny Girl margarita was her idea
“When she was young, her godmother, Eleanor Mogavero, would come and visit, and her drink of choice was a margarita. She was overweight, so I’d make her really low-fat ones… But Bethenny would never give anyone credit – it goes against her narcissistic point of view.”

Holy crap! What do you do when your mom treats you like that – in public no less?! I guess you do what Bethenny does, you basically ignore the nasty wench. It’s awful that there are people like this in the world, whose hatred of everything, even their own family, just eats them up inside. I’ve had some issues with my mom, but they seem absolutely insignificant compared to this. My mom sometimes tells me what to do with my kid and I find it annoying, but she doesn’t put me down at all. This is incredible to me that there are people who talk like this about their own kids.

Her mom is a real piece of work. Instead of being proud of her daughter’s success she rips her to shreds. Now everyone can see why they have an estranged relationship. I watched her E! True Hollywood story and it was heartbreaking. She always admitted that she was a wild child but there was one point where she was talking about how she had no where to go. She didn’t have a relationship with her father, thanks to her mother and when her mother and step father split, he basically abandoned Bethanny as well. Sad.

Success is the best revenge. Bethanny is enjoying her millions, new baby, and her loving husband while her mom rots away in a nursing home. Serves her right for abandoning Bethanny as a child. God, both of her parents sound inhuman to me.

Haven’t a clue who this is, and I hate to slate other women for the sake of it- but her face terrifies me. She can’t extoll the virtues of her products looking the way she does! When she smiles it’s like she’s forgotten to remove one of those peel-off face masks, I don’t for one minute believe that skinny girl is a healthy one.

I saw Bethenny’s E true story and Bethenny was a piece of work when she was a teen. Some of the stories Bethenny told on that show makes it seem like her mother is telling the truth.
Yeah, I agree about her mother shouldn’t talk about Bethenny, but Bethenny has been talking smack about her mother since RHONY, so I don’t blame her mother for trying to tell her side.

in the tabloid i read the story in, after saying bethenny doesn’t spend time with her daughter so why should she want another one, the tabloid points out that bethenny has spoken to her mom twice in 10 years. so she hasn’t met bethenny’s husband or her daughter but she thinks she’s in a position to judge how she is as a mother and wife? JESUS.
i have family like this, never taking responsiblity for their actions, yet telling you things about yourself there’s no way they could have known. just making it up to find something to ciritize you for. crazy nut jobs

It is crappy that her mother puts this stuff in the press for attention but my feelings about Bethenny are that she probably loves it. This adds to her tv persona and helps to keep Bethenny interesting to the general public. And while Bernadette does sound like an evil “wench” who is likely an alcoholic, I think she is probably right about some what she says about Bethenny. I have written before how I do not like how Bethenny treats her husband and his family, and I do think she uses people until she cannot get any thing more from them. Her relationship with Jill Zaron is one example. Jill wasn’t the only one who ruined that friendship, and there were a lot of examples of how Bethenny threw Jill under the bus so speak, namely by making their fight a very public feud that probably could have been easily worked out if she wanted. I imagine too that when Bethenny is done with a relationship, she doesn’t just quietly walk away but rather makes a huge, loud, obnoxious production of the split(again, her relationship with Jill Zaron). I do think as executive producer of the her own show she has basically “hired” Jason to be here TV husband, and when the ratings sour and people don’t really care about her, she will make him leave. I really do not like Bethenny Frankel and it is hard for me to feel sorry for her, even with her crappy parents.

Sorry, but bashing your parents in interviews and on a reality show for a few years is deserving of the same treatment in return.
Frankel made her mark by selling the public her “Woe is me” tale of parental mistreatment and abandonment when no one other than her can verify her stories. How is her mother so terrible when Frankel bashed her dying father time and again, and also her mother.
If you poke at a bear, eventually the bear will strike back. Simple as that.

What is wrong with her mother telling the truth, if it IS the truth? You should just let your kid walk all over you with no response. THAT is wrong! Tell it like it is!!! it doesn’t mean thta the mother is totally innocent, but I get sick of hearing these Hollywood types just totally ignoring the parents who raised them after they get famous. There are so many Hollywood types that make tons of money and live life high on the hog, and never do anything for their parents, who are living in a trailor and are broke as a bone. I don’t know who’s telling the truth in this situation. I am mostly just irritated that the media seems to be vilifying the mom, when I’m sure Bethanny was a big factor in this whole thing, too.

Typically hate a mother publicly bagging on her child but she is dead on about her daughter & she needs to stand up for herself in lieu of the lies Betanny has spread about her to gain sympathy. Bethanny is extremely narcissistic and a complete & total bulemic! She uses the victim card to garner sympathy but find anyone outside of her that will tell you she had a terrible childhood. Her promoting anything healthy is a joke. Her bulemia & other eating disorders are widely known by everyone in her circle. Just look at her gaunt, sickly face – if that doesnt scream Im unhealthy I dont know what does. Her personality is terrible and she bags on people in her past who helped her get where she is. She is ungrateful and a farce.

Sometimes the truth is the truth and even a mother has the right to speak it. After all, it’s not like Bethany is the nicest person on earth and she does have body issues and it does seem like she steam rolls her husband. Time will tell.

I don’t think that Bethenny is particularly healthy-looking, and I think she really needs more fat in her diet. She always looks drawn and dry, which ages her. And I’m glad I’m not the only person who caught that weird “low fat” crap from her mom.
Having terrible parents myself, part of the healing process is to be real about what happened and the pain of it. My parents were narcissistic hippies who constantly put us in physical and psychological danger as they kept on chasing rainbows, alternating between abuse and neglect. They worried about their own good, and each others, but never the kids. To this day, my parents don’t want to deal with the damage they caused, which is why 2 of the 5 kids don’t speak to them, and 2 of the remaining three have contact with them for mercenary reasons, like free babysitting.
All of this is to say that abusive parents expect their children to maintain the facade that everything was okay, even into adulthood. To get healthy, you have to get away, and you have to tell the truth. It isn’t bashing, it’s reality.

Please. My mother-in-law was a raging alcoholic who eventually died quite young from her disease. She never missed a day of work and never got a DUI (despite driving drunk with her young children MANY times). Excuses, excuses.

there are about 7 bazillion more flattering pictures of Bethenny than the header one used here. I feel bad for her that this one was used to lead the story. I don’t think I have ever seen a worse photo of her.. or of her looking so bad. The Skinnygirl (brand) way of life is not looking like a healthy way to live.. if how she looks there is any indication… I love me some Bethenny.. but GIRL – take a freaking day OFF already! I guess I would have to say that both of them should of taken the high road on what happens in the past. I myself and guilty of a replase of two, lol…but I certainly am not on television. I can defintely see what would consititute Betthany’s drive and determination. If you haven’t gotten that love and admiration from someone else (like your own Mother) than you strive on a business level to achieve.

Eh. I think this is a case of the apple not falling far from the tree. If you ask me, she and her parents all seem like jerks with issues. I guess the primary distinction is that two of the jerks were raising the other jerk. If Bernadette’s tale is accurate, it still implicates her parenting. Loving, loved, well-adjusted, balanced kids don’t bail on their caring moms and stepfathers just because the money runs out. Bethenny may well be a narcissist, but I’m going to blame nurture here rather than nature.
That said, I find it so odd that a daughter of an alcoholic bulimic who has fought her own battles with eating disorders would launch a product like a Skinny Margarita.

Actually, Bethanny has a great bod, skinny without being overly so. I bet she’s much healthier than the average (read somewhat overweight) woman in terms of triglycerides etc. She just has one of those wide-boned Maria Shriver type faces which is genetic.
As for her mother, there’s no doubt Bethanny ain’t easy to live with but this woman sounds absolutely dispicable and full of vengence and jealously. Bethanny can do without this toxic person in her life.

Not that I think Bethaney will ever read this but I want to put out onto the planet because I’m a loving being and we all have our journey. Take the time to see what “gift” she is offering you in watching you. If you get pissed off or irritated or have an opinion about her, you’ve got internal work to do. Something to resolve within. How awesome is that. I don’t have any issue with her need to “keep things/ people at bay” from herself. When she/ if she is ever ready to allow that to be let go, she will. If not, she is offering a give to many to look at it. Stop being “against” and start looking at what you are for. Let her be the gift she is. She has earned it and time/ life will soften it all, as she chooses and all of you stop projecting torwards her. Bless you Bethaney and your family (you, your husband, daughter, friends) I get it.
