Tori Spelling gave birth to a baby girl Hattie Margaret one week early

It feels like Tori Spelling was pregnant for at least two years. But I guess her third pregnancy just felt so long because she seemed to “pop” pretty quickly and then she just stayed the same size for months and months. Anyway, Tori finally gave birth! Hurray. She and Dean welcomed another little girl. No name has been released yet.

After opting to not find out the sex of their third baby, sources confirm to Life & Style exclusively that 90210 alum Tori Spelling, 38, and husband Dean McDermott, 44, welcomed a girl into the world on Oct. 10.

“The baby wasn’t due until next week, but it was an early present!” an insider tells Life & Style.

“We’re so blessed to have one of each that it’s just…whatever we get,” Tori told Life & Style over the summer. “We just want a healthy baby.”

The couple, who married in 2006, have two children together, Liam, 4, and Stella, 3.

“We thought it would be the ultimate surprise,” Dean tells Life & Style. “How many times can you get a surprise like this?”

“[My kids] kiss the baby every day and are feeling the baby, so they’re really excited.”

A name has not yet been announced. Congratulations to the happy couple!

[From Life & Style]

I’m not expecting Tori and Dean to go all crazy on the name. It will probably be pretty normal, considering their other kids are named Liam (lovely name) and Stella (standard-issue celebrity-baby-name). My guess is that they’ll probably go for another “-ella” name. Bella, Isabella, Arabella, Anabella, something like that. Anyway, congrats to Tori and Dean!

UPDATE: Tori’s Twitter says the girl’s name is Hattie Margaret McDermot. Congrats!

I bet she was faking it!

Perhaps motherhood has made me soften slightly on my stance regarding this couple, because I kinda went “awww…he’s still a douche, and they both are cheaters, but good for them, AND good for her for keeping that baby in until 39 weeks instead of going for the friendly induction to avoid the last 4 weeks of hell like some celebrities.” Assuming, of course, that her due date was actually set at 40 weeks. Do Hollywood OBGYNs automatically set their dates early?

  3. Jenny says:

I love the name Liam. I’m planning on naming my first child that if it’s a boy…

  4. Lenna says:

    That’s my Dads birthday too!

I’ve said from the get-go (really only to my friends and husband)that January Jones faked her pregnancy. I still think she did, especially after seeing her “post baby body”

  5. Devon says:

According to Tori’s twitter, the baby’s name is Hattie Margaret. Congrats to Tori, Dean, Liam and Stella! Hattie is a very cute name and goes well with Liam and Stella.

  6. the original bellaluna says:

Jenny – It’s my youngest’s name. It took us 3 or 4 days to name him*, and we named him for “meaning,” as all our children have been named.

*I’m from the school of thought where you “meet” your child before deciding on a name. I mean, what if you’ve decided on “Kevin” but once he arrives, he’s not a Kevin?

Anyway, congrats to them, even though they are the original Eddie & Leann.

  7. Reece says:

Every time I see her shes pregnant. Maybe I’m just not paying attention. idk

  9. lucy2 says:

Congrats to them. Hattie is kind of cute, but not something I’d chose. Liam is a nice name though.

A little odd his other 2 children are rarely mentioned in articles like that.

  10. Devon says:

Bellaluna, ITA. I think you should have a few names on standby and wait until you see them before you commit.

Lucy2, they do mention Jack quite a bit and Dean is not the father of Jack’s sister. They were in the process of adopting her when he left his wife and his ex went through the adoption process alone.

That poor baby, So now mom is supposed to say your real dad gave you up and your 2nd dad decided he didn’t want you? How awful. I have lost all respect for that man now, not that I had much to begin with, and not that he cares.

  11. Obvious says:

How do you pronounce it? is it Hat-E or Hate-e?? I’ve always been curious.

  12. Joe's Mom says:

I apologize to any “Hatties” out there, but “Hattie”???? “Hattie” sounds like a sun-dried, wild-west lady with a rifle to me. My given name isn’t too common either, and I guess I just feel, in advance, for the kids with really “different” names. However, I’m glad things turned out well, and I think their other kids are really cute.

    • PiperB says:

Not a fan of the name myself. It sounds like an older woman’s name (which is fine) but for a baby it doesn’t go. On IMDB it says she named her after her childhood Nanny.

  13. JaneWonderfalls says:

@Reece. No you are right she is always pregnant 🙂 Just like Maya Rudolph from SNL and Up All Night. Maya stated in an interview on Chelsea Lately that ” I feel like I have been pregnant for 6 years…lol. But anyway I think motherhood suits her, she seems happy anyway.

  14. thetruthhurts says:

I wonder if she got the name from Hattie on Parenthood.

  15. Tazina says:

To me Hattie doesn’t really roll off the tongue very easily. It’s easier to cheat and say “Haddie.”

They do make gorgeous kids and I’m sure the new arrival will be no exception.

  16. Ashley says:

Poor child with a dumb name, @ least she is filthy rich..!!!Green is all you need in this world.

  17. Cerulean says:

Can’t stand them but a new baby is always something to be happy about. Got no snark for them today.

  18. Alix says:

It’s pronounced “HAT-ee”; originally a nickname for “Harriet”. Not a great choice, but at least it’s a real name and not some random noun, like Pilot or Apple.

  19. MorticiansDoItDeader says:

Maybe she’s a fan of Hattie McDaniel, the first African American actress to win an academy award for “Gone with the Wind.”

Cut kids, but Tori needs to address Stellas bangs trauma.

  20. Sumodo1 says:

    Sure beats Peggy.

  21. Jenn says:

Hard to like these two- and she still is talking about more kids. Her husband has 4 now; at what point does she want a career or something? She seems to want him around 24-7. They’re very co-dependent, in my opinion. They seem really needy. I love my kids with all my heart, but at some point, it seems like certain women, when they give birth, are just planning when they can start the next one. Tori fits that to a T.

  22. Memphis says:

Congrats to them! But.. Hattie Margaret? Did she give birth to an 80 year old woman? Not my style at all. But I guess it goes nicely with Stella and Liam.

  23. Dana M says:

Do they still have a reality show?

  24. sandra says:

You know, she just glows when she’s pregnant though. I think she looks great. No pillow in there, lol.

  25. Emily says:

@MorticiansDoItDeader, I thought of GWTW when I heard the name Hattie. And the book was written by a Margaret…

I like the name Hattie, but I like a lot of older nicknames, like Dotty, Peggy, Betty.

  26. MorticiansDoItDeader says:

@Emily, hmmm. Maybe the book and movie were her inspiration for the name. Plus, as actors, maybe they think it’ll make her lucky in acting having the name of an actress who really broke barriers (and the middle name of one of the most famous novelists of all time).

  27. girlygirl says:

Hattie was Liam’s nanny. Tori grew very close to her and felt as if she was a mom to her. Yes, I watched their show, LOL!

  28. Amanda says:

I really use to like her, oh the good old days of 90210 (from the 90s). But after following her on twitter… damn she says some weird sh*t!!

  29. Hattie says:

I do not know how to feel about the resurgence of Hattie in popularity, though Joe’s mom can suck it.

  30. Jayna says:

From what I saw on the last year’s shows, she worked all the time, stressed, and he barely had any acting jobs and raced cars and other hobbies. The bloom seemed to be off the rose. She began to see what his ex-wife put up with. I think. And she mentioned quite a few times she worried about him cheating because of how they got together.

  31. Elizabeth says:

    @ Lucy2
He has a son by his 1st marriage. They were in the process of adopting a little girl when Hurricane Tori hit, so his ex went ahead with the adoption on her own. So he has one other child. But I still agree with your point. The older son is never mentioned.
@ Devon. Sorry for the repeat. I just saw your comment.

  32. EMILY T says:

CONGRATS on the baby! Looks like all of Tori’s GAY friends are dressing DEAN? What a loser, I thinnk she could have done better to pick a husband who was known for honesty and faithfulness to have her children with. Who wants a guy that walked out on his wife and son while they were in the middle of an adoption? I’m sorry I just don’t like this opportunist who won’t work for a living and plays with his toys all the time. Come on,in the real world he would be considered a DEAD BEAT.
