Is Pippa Middleton cashing in on her duchess sister with a book?

pippa_middleton_04_wenn3586913

These are some new photos of Pippa Middleton out and about in London today, likely on her way to or from work. I think Pippa is just one of those girls who is a better dresser in fall and winter – I am one of those girls too. I find myself at odds with a lot of summer styles, but I love when it gets cold enough for sweaters and coats. I like Pippa’s ensemble all together, although nothing it really that special separately, and the boots especially are rough. All together, though, it’s a solid autumn outfit. OK, she should have done black books, but I get it – she coordinated brown leathers.

Meanwhile, have you heard about Pippa’s potential book deal? According to sources, Pippa is meeting to editors at HarperCollins to potentially write a book about “party hosting” – to be published more than a year from now. It’s less about selling out her sister or shaming her family and more about honoring the family business, which is partying and party supplying. Pippa already edits “The Party Times” – which is the newsletter for Party Pieces’s business. A source says, “Pippa is very serious about the project and has been going to meet publishers personally. Pippa hasn’t signed a contract yet but I don’t think it will be far off. She is a good writer but I expect she would be offered the services of an experienced ghost writer.” Allegedly, Pippa’s book is worth $1.6 million – and I suspect that’s just for signing.

Of course, this book deal is being met with sneers in some corners. The Guardian ran an especially vicious “satire” piece about Pippa’s alleged book proposal – go here to read it. The Telegraph has an editorial about Pippa “milking” her royal connections with the book, and other UK publications are publishing similar pieces. It should get interesting.

Yes, autum works for fashion. Long winter coats help too. Luv the Pippa.

  2. gee says:

To me, Pippa is like Lauren Conrad. Totally and completely harmless, a great dresser, and with little bits of stuff to offer. This would be an interesting read, and of course she got the offer because of her sister.. but it helps that she really does know the party business.

I just like them though. I’m biased..

  3. Beatrix says:

why does everyone in the media get assigned a “ghost writer” when putting out a title these days? have people lost the ability to elicit artistic merit on their own?

  4. Reece says:

I like that bag more with this outfit.

  5. Talie says:

If I was Pippa or any other Middleton, I would tell the Palace to f*ck off and let me make my money. Why does she have to disappear for her sister’s sake?

  6. Rita says:

Okay, so what happened to her second bag or computer case?

  7. Emily says:

I’m not a Waity fan, but for some reason I can’t get enough of Pippa.

  8. Diane says:

I love her outfit except the boots. Ugh. Pippa’s always interesting to me.

  9. Mrs.Krabapple says:

Sure, why not? They are the British equivalent of the Kardashian “reality” celebrities. Maybe Pippa can reference OJ Simpson in her book.

  10. Denise says:

The boots are definitely rough; the color is okay, not the biker style. She does too much matchy-match. As for the book, good luck to her.

  11. kay says:

if she is not writing about her sister, the wedding, etc etc, then she has every right to “write” a book, make her own money.

I won’t read it, but good for her!

  12. Kimbob says:

I’m not usually a fan of animal print fabrics, but there’s something that’s drawing me to that dress of hers. I guess it’s because it isn’t an obvious animal print….kind of general yet mixed/exotic. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I think this is by far the best outfit I’ve seen on her. I just LOVE the earth tones. I’m a ginger, & those colors would be absolutely BEAUTIFUL and complimentary on a ginger. I’m just loving this outfit. The boots really top it off…& again, I’m not even a usual fan of boots. Go figure!

  13. Fue McCormick says:

Are you people on drugs? … Damn … that is a hideous outfit …

  14. JuliaDomna says:

I take strong issue with the attribute of ‘good dresser’ being assigned to this lady. She is not a good dresser. Far from it, actually.

  15. Patricia says:

This is not cashing in – just good timing. Success is all about timing. Smart move. Congrats to her. I hope the book is a big seller.

  16. mln76 says:

I’m all about boots but Pippa’s are all kinds of malltastic tacky.

  17. K says:

@ JuliaDomna- I totally agree with you!Stylish, not.

  18. Elena says:

I don’t think writing such a book would be a horrible thing to do.
I like Pippa. Kate, sorry- Catherine, too. The Middletons add some spice to the Royal Dish.

  19. thethinker says:

Mrs. Krabapple, Pippa’s in no way equivalent to the Kardashians. This girl has class and doesn’t court media attention…but it’s there whether she likes it or not, at least for now. She has every right to make money from it.

  20. Hautie says:

I love how the UK tabloids are so desperate to harp about how Pippa cashing in on her “connections”.

Her family having been knee deep in the party business for years. That alone gives her knowledge to do a harmless book about hosting.

I am just annoyed with how those tacky tabloids have decide to kill her reputation. By any means necessary.

They are determine to imply she is trying to cash in on something. ANYTHING. Or she is out ho’ing around with old boyfriends.

Geez, give the girl a break.

  21. Amy says:

People are always labeling Pippa and Kate as mediocre dressers. But I find them to be way more stylish than most Americans I know (and I am in no way including myself in that stylish category because I am far from it!).

  22. inthekitchen says:

The timing makes me think she is about to get engaged and then married within the year…engaged, married (with fabulous party, natch), book release (with all the juicy details on how you, too, can party like a royal).

As far as her style goes, I don’t get all the love. I’m with @Fue McCormick!

  23. dena says:

    Fugly.

  24. Mrs.Krabapple says:

Yeah, she’s cashing in on her psuedo-celebrity status, just like the Kardashians. People don’t need a ghost writer if they are legitimate authors themselves. “Writing” a book that you are not actually going to write yourself means selling your celebrity, not a product. Trashy.

  25. jamie says:

Everyday she has paparazzi waiting outside her house and people blogging and commenting internationally about what she is doing and how she looks. She’s been put in a really unusual position and so what if she takes advantage of an opportunity that comes out of it. It’s not like she’s writing some tell-all.

By the way, I’ll take a Middleton post over a Kardashian post ANY day of the week.

  26. Sakota says:

Why don’t publishing companies actually publish the people who are actually doing the WORK to write the book? If Pippa isn’t doing the actual writing and the work, she has no business making money off of this and getting away with putting her name on someone else’s work. Isn’t that plagarism? There are self publishing companies out there and why doesn’t she just go that route? If she wants massive amounts of money, she should do the work herself.

  27. jess says:

her eyebrows aren’t even. am i the only crazy person who this bugs!??

  28. Mary jones says:

Not a good dresser. She always looks budget.

  29. bk says:

It’s an awful belt with this dress. It would go better with jeans, and with an outfit that actually included that particular shade of brown. I also don’t understand the belt’s purpose here– to show off her waist? Which is hiding under a cardigan anyway?? If she just haaaad to wear a belt under the cardi, she should have gone with a black one. With black shoes. This presentation is like some sort of multicolor sh*t-storm.

  30. jazz fabulous says:

Am I a bad person for thinking Pippa is soooooo ugly? She looks like a dude. Gross.

  31. AcornPaste says:

Fugly Pippa here is the skinnier version of Doris the Ugly Stepsister from the Shrek film. They even have the same mole.

#28 Mary Jones – they always look budget, these Middleton twits. No amount of money in the world can make them look anything other than cheap. I’ve seen girls less richer than their family who can dress better.

  32. sally says:

She certainly has a case of man-face, but she makes the most of what’s she’s been given. Poor girl will always need long hair, though.

  33. Jaxx says:

I think her outfit is beautiful.

I love winter dressing-BOOTS! SCARVES! SWEATERS! My best time of year for my figure too as I always lose weight in winter because I love being outside in cool weather and get more exercise. Summer makes me feel like a slug and I eat crap just to soothe myself while bearing up under the nasty heat. This year it was over 100 degrees for three months straight. Miserable!

Pippa just can’t catch a break. The book she is writing is right in line with her work so why can’t she write what she knows without being accused of using her sister?

  34. CeeCee says:

famewhore it up, what else is she meant to do get a real job?

  35. selina says:

Pippa is a much more interesting, beautiful and natural person than Kate. She works for a living while Kate has never had any kind of job in her life.
Why on earth shouldn´t she write a book? Pippa has been thrown into the spotlight and she is fantastic at how she handles it.
Pippa isn´t surrounded by life-guards who carry everything for her and protect her. She is herself, a very special, modern and independent young woman. I admit I love and like her more than Kate. I cannot get enough of Pippa – so normal and lovable. I like her dressing style; everything about her.

  36. HonsandRebels says:

She actually looks like Mark Owen from Take That.

You have to hand it to them, the Wisteria Sisters both know how to look and dress cheap!

  37. Addie says:

I don’t get why Pippa is the famous ‘sibling of the dutchess’ that serial killer/ odd brother of theirs is faaaar more facinating!

  38. lin234 says:

The outfit was nice until I scrolled down to the boots. Hideous!

  39. Gelina Whiddon says:

Congratulations to her on the book deal.

  40. JuliaDomna says:

    @ Addie: Ha ha!

  41. Smart Pippa says:

    Smart move of Pippa!

  42. HoustonGrl says:

I’ve seen those boots on her before. I hate the color because it looks cheap – this would look better as an aged leather. I also think they meet the calf at an odd height. I really like the rest of the outfit though and Pippa looks great.

  43. Fue McCormick says:

Pippa Middleton: Ugly outfit No. 19. Absolutely horrible.
