Evan Rachel Wood vs. Camilla Belle: Who wore graphic Gucci better?

Here are some more photos from that LACMA tribute event to Clint Eastwood – both Evan Rachel Wood and Camilla Belle came out for the event, and both wore Gucci (Gucci was the sponsor). Let’s talk about Evan first, because… obviously. She’s the bigger star, and there’s more to talk about. First, her dress – I think this “flapper” style suits her figure very well, and the gold and black works. I’m honestly not crazy about the dress, but I’m giving Evan a pass because she’s the kind of girl who can make items (that I don’t care for) work in interesting ways.

A few weeks ago, I complimented Evan’s makeup work while she was in London, promoting The Ides of March with George Clooney. Her makeup guy Toby Fleischman got in touch with us and thanked us for noticing – you can see his website here. If you want me to ask him about Evan’s styling and makeup, just tell me and I’ll email him. Once again, Evan’s got the kind of look where she can pull off stuff that I’m not usually crazy about – on anyone else, I would think her eye makeup is too dark for such a pale girl. But if you really look at the whole outfit, and the entirety of her styling, the makeup is helping. It’s her hair that bugs me. But her hair is so short now, and if she had poofed it up instead of doing these structured “flapper waves” I think it would have been worse. There’s not much else she can do, so at least she went for consistency with the whole look. And I absolutely LOVE her nails and her earrings.

And onto to Camilla Belle. Camilla’s dress looks a lot like Evan’s in colors and graphic theme. I think Evan wears it better, and I dislike Camilla’s hair more than I dislike Evan’s hair. Oh, and did Camilla’s maekup guy attempt WHITE cat-eyes? Evan and Camilla both have great figures, though. Sigh…

Evan Rachel Wood definitely wins this, I love the pale, 20ies look.
The other woman looks boring to me.

  2. Monie says:

Sooooooooooooo tired of these chicks and their “loose tampon” pose.

  3. deanna says:

    agree neither!

  4. birdie says:

umm, Evan’s make up looks really bad. It is way too much, it doesn’t compliment her skin or face. Don’t get me started on the hair. The outfit is kinda ok.
    Camilla looks really good.

  5. ruby says:

Actually when my feet are sore from wearing heels I find that this “loose tampon” pose as you say kind of eases the pressure and is quite comfortable.

Evan Rachel Wood… As you say the makeup works with the ensemble, but independently I do find it too heavy around her eyes. Her dress looks lovely on her, and I like it better than Camilla Belle’s, that black and gold is very pretty. Her boobs seem to have disappeared though ? Camilla has a nicer figure I find. Evan’s shoes are very pretty. The thing I dislike most is her hair… To me short hair works on very few people, and it definitely does not look nice on Evan. That wavy hairstyle goes well with the dress but I still think she would be a million times better with longer hair.

In fact, I’d pick Camilla Belle out of the two simply because she has longer hair and it balances out her silhouette. Not crazy about the haistyle though, it looks too square. Her makeup is fine, her shoes are nice.

  6. JaneWonderfalls says:

I pic Camille, Evan Rachel Wood looks to much like a custom. Camille looks very natural and feminine a throw back to the 20’s but with a more modern look with the hair and make up. The only person I have seen in Hollywood that can pull of a true authentic vintage look is Dita Von Teese.

  7. Turtle Dove says:

Evan is fab from top to toe and she’s a ‘Metropolis’ goddess. I love both of their dresses, but if I had to choose, I’d go for Camilla’s because the colors would work better on me.

  8. Mouse says:

I love Evan. Her make-up is a little overkill, but she pulls off the dress and the flapper look. Camilla is boring and just reminds me too much of Ali Lohan.

  9. Reece says:

Out of these two Evan. Evan pulls it off well.
Camilla looks a little too curvy to pull this off well. Or maybe that’s the way she’s walking but it looks balloned in the middle.

Where are the pics of Zoe?

  10. lisa says:

UGH neither.. if I had to hand it to one of them, it would be Wood only because she took it all the way. But gosh I feel like every time she is on a Red carpet she is in some kind of costume. A lot like Diane Kruger.. too much sometimes. YOU don’t have to make a “statement” on every occasion. It gets to be too much. And to be honest none of her looks are that memorable. We don’t see them after the event. Her fans may recall what she is wearing, but I just see gem-mic and too too try to be noticed.

she is very attractive, but I don’t know.. she is in the same category as Olivia Munn and Olivia Wilde to me. THEY are just being shoved down our throats. I get that someone wants to make the next IT girl, but you can’t make the next IT girl. she just happens all on her own.

  11. Pyewacket says:

Cannot STAND ERW. Everything she does irritates me!

  12. d says:

evan, all the way. regardless of her make up or whatever, she carries herself in a way that has oomph. camilla to me is boring. she may be prettier in a conventional sense, but she seems boring and flat. she doesn’t have a “look”. Evan does. She pops better in pics. Evan has style, camilla just looks nice.

  13. podzol says:

ERW by a LONG mile. Evan’s got swagger… plus she’s one of the best young actresses working around. Camilla Belle feels out of place at that event, she’s just a socialite who parades around in nice clothing but does absolutely nothing substantial movie-wise.

  14. Ann says:

Camilla looks fab, Evan’s hair and make-up don’t flatter her at all.

  15. Mika says:

I love Evan Rachel Wood, she is just so much MORE than other Hollywood girls. One day, I would love to grab drinks with her and Emma Stone.

  16. jamie says:

I agree with Livia,Zoe Saldana looked the best in her Gucci. Too bad no pics of her.

  17. glenn says:

I Think ERW looks great, the dress suit better in her, Camille hair looks awful!!!!

  18. marybeth18 says:

Toby Fleischman, the makeup artist, is a woman.

  19. Tiffany S says:

i wouldn’t want to be at the same party as camilla, let alone in a similar dress. that girl is gorgeous. camilla ftw on this one.

  20. Jamie says:

Evan’s make-up is way too heavy. I can tell that the artist tried to soften the effect by using browns on her eyes and deep pink on the lips instead of red, but it’s still too dark. Yet it’s the hair that kills me. It just puts the whole look into costume territory. I feel like she should be on a set, not on the red carpet. Classic case of trying too hard… even that matchy nail polish is too much.

Belle’s soft, movable hair and light make-up look much better. ERW looks overdone (did the make-up artist try to warn her but she had to have it her way?)

  21. Eleonor says:

The dress is very 20’s, and Evan totally wins for me.

  22. UKHels says:

usually like ERW’s style but this hair don’t makes her look like a bloke

make up also far too heavy

    the dresses are both ‘meh’

  23. Jenna says:

I’ll give it to Evan, though I think I like Camilla’s dress more; I like the pattern and though it’s very linear and probably wouldn’t work on a woman with a curvy figure, the dress looks like it’s weighing her down. Her hair and make-up don’t work with the dress either.

  24. The Original Mia says:

I love the flapper dress on Evan. I don’t like Camille’s hair and feel her dress could have been shorter.

  25. Jayna says:

Neither. And Evan’s hair and makeup make her look 40, and it doesn’t flatter her face.

  26. Kimberly says:

to be honest both looked just okay. Not crappy not amazing. just ok.

  27. Eileen says:

Both are gorgeous-I LUUUUURVE flapper 20’s looks!

  28. retyah says:

Evan totally wins, as she fits the flapper-esque vibe of the dress. Belle’s boobs sticking out of the dress kind of ruin it for me. Its meant to be a lithe dress.

  29. Green_Eyes says:

    hands down Evan…

  30. YvetteW says:

They both chose the cut most flattering to their bodies, so they both look nice.

  31. thethinker says:

Both meh. Not a fan of this style at all.

  32. Girlnone says:

Isn’t it bizarre to think that they played sisters in Practical Magic? (They were Sandra Bullock’s daughters in the movie.) If you really want to feel old, look at pictures of them then compared to now; they both grew up to be so pretty!

  33. Maggie May says:

I had to do a Google search but I too agree with Livia and Jamie, Zoe Saldana looked the best.

  34. Callumna says:

I envy thy dresses, ladies. Tres cool!

  35. Adrien says:

Evan’s 20’s hair and make-up made the entire get-up too costumey. Camille’s just casual looking. It’s not Camille’s fault. The geometric patterns didn’t fall into the right places and dragged her assets down making it look like it’s ill-fitting.

    Evan for me.

  36. Sunlily says:

Camille, even though I liked Evan’s styling better. Zoe actually looked better than both of these broads though.

  37. Kata says:

I actually like Camilla Belle’s white winged eyeliner…I think it makes her eyes look really bright. And I normally agree that Evan can pull off slightly odd looks…but I hate her hair here. It looks like a bad toupee.

  38. Nonny says:

I think Evan pulls the 20’s look off the best. Mostly because Camille’s hair is 40’s not 20’s and it just throws the dress off. It’s like they’re trying to make her look like Kate Beckensale or whatever her last name is. Evan looks like a 20’s flapper. Camille just looks out of era.

  39. taxi says:

Evan gets my vote! Wearing long fringe doesn’t work unless you go for the whole look. Belle’s styling doesn’t work at all.

  40. bea says:

ERW should not circle her eyes in black – it really accentuates the imperfections in her face – it’s not flattering. I think her dress is fantastic, but I do agree about the hair – also not flattering. She needs hair near her face bc she’s looking HARD in these pics. Very pulled together, but old and hard.

The second dress is not good – the waterfalls off the bust line, her hair, her white eye make up – it’s all bad.

  41. serena says:

Rachel is becoming more and more boring. Drop that hairstyle and make up please, it WAS interesting but it’s no more (like Lady Gaga).

  42. Jen says:

    ERW by a mile.

  43. Trashaddict says:

I love when actresses dress up costume-y. It’s the whole point, isn’t it? The dark eyes are true flapper make-up.
Plus ERW’s dress is more flattering because the cut draws the eyes up and the lines flatter her figure. The white accents on Camille’s dress unfairly accentuate her hips and the cut pulls everything down.
Love to see dresses like this on the red carpet. Everything’s been so boring lately.

  44. midnightmoon says:

my biggest complaint about ERW is the fact that one eye is sooo much smaller than the other, and i think the make-up for this outfit actually accentuates that difference in size. she is an exquisite young lady, and she is having fun. i don’t think she’s the best actress, singer, performer around, but mannnn, does she WORK it. i like CB’s dress a little better-the front fringe is angled and it just has a better flow. ERW will find herself someday soon-i can see it happening. she is just SOOO young, having had so much success already in Hweird. i hope she keeps her act together. i think she will. she made it through the MManson phase, and hopefully has learned to stay away from wacky weirdos from now on.
