Last night was the LA premiere of Adam Sandler’s new film, Jack & Jill – that’s the one where he plays his own twin sister. Thankfully, Sandler didn’t show up in drag, but that means the only slightly interesting person on the red carpet was little Katie Holmes. Now, as I was going through the photos, my horror grew stronger by the second as I looked at this dress from various angles. And yes, it’s a DRESS. It’s not a separate blouse and skirt. As I looked harder, I thought to myself, “This is one of the most hideous things I’ve ever seen on Kate-bot. I bet she designed it herself.” Well, she did. This is Holmes & Yang – something that Katie and her “design partner” came up with on their own. HOW UNFLATTERING IS THIS JUNK?
It makes her look big-hipped. The skirt is stiff-looking and the wrong length. While the purple-fuchsia color is flattering with her coloring, the top part is exceptionally cheap-looking and poorly tailored. The whole thing is really cheap looking, honestly. There is a “home-sewn” quality that you shouldn’t find in professionally made clothing. It’s just so awful. Why does the skirt’s waist look like it’s been rolled over onto itself a few times? Is that supposed to happen in “dresses”?
Now, for something nice – her hair looks really healthy and pretty. Her makeup is very fresh and pretty. She doesn’t look drugged out of her mind. And there isn’t a deranged, lift-wearing midget hovering around her. So, this appearance was a mixed bag, basically.

I completely agree with you– I saw that skirt waist and was just “whaaaaa?” It’s so thick and weird, and unflattering, and the length really doesn’t flatter her legs at all. The shoes are pretty bad too.

This is monstrous. It looks like two dresses that were haphazardly put together to make an outfit. Cut bottom of purple dress to make a top. Cut the top of the black dress to make a skirt. Ooops! The skirt’s not the right length. Quick! Roll it around the waist and call it fashion.

One good thing is, she’s wearing a bra. Not the best one, but she has looked worse without one. Terrible dress, at least whomever was pushing her as some kind of style icon has stopped. She really is not a great actress, has a funky bodytype, does not know very well what flatters her, and has NO style to boot… What she has is money, hair and a nice face, give her that.

The top part makes her look thin and the bottom makes her look an extra 20-30 pounds heavier. Why hasn’t anyone told her not to wear shoes with ankle straps or ankle booties for that matter. They do nothing for her.

She has the misfortune of having the sort of body where the top half absolutely does not match the bottom half. It’s all very Ms. Potato Head. Lots of women have the smaller upper body with thicker hips, thighs and buns but with her it’s as if from the waist up she is anorexic and the bottom half didn’t get the memo. Strange.

Hm. I kinda like it. The color is lovely, I like the skirt length on her – and I am especially pleased to see a skirt that isn’t cut to accidently on purpose show anything that shouldn’t be seen in public.
The only thing I don’t care for is that the skirt looks like it was pulled over the top. The whole thing being the same color and fabric all the way down would have been nice too.

I think I agree, it’s a mixed bag with this outfit she picked. She does look fresh faced, polished and pretty. I think the manner they made the waist on this sort of puckers. Then the bottom is too full, it does make hips (on likely any female shape) appear much wider then they are. I give her a B for effort.

There is not one attractive thing about this dress. The sleeves and bust are badly cut, the waist adds weight where it shouldn’t and the skirt is frumpy. The only remotely nice thing about it is the purple color, but its freshness is taken away with the black of the skirt. Back to the drawing boards!
