Here are some new photos of Suri Cruise and Katie Holmes out and about in NYC yesterday. That was a fast trip to LA – just one day before, Katie had been at the LA premiere of Jack & Jill, the Adam Sandler movie where she plays “Jack’s wife”. At the premiere, Katie wore her own hideous design. I don’t know who or what she’s wearing in these candid photos, but it’s an improvement. She looks great in a pair of jeans, a white blouse and a crisp blazer. She should try this for a premiere some time.
As for Suri… I feel like a dick for even looking at these photos. She doesn’t want to be photographed. She’s holding up her little white stuffed cow to shield herself from the paparazzi. It’s sad that the paps love to take photos of her, and it’s also sad that Katie doesn’t seem to know what to do about that. It’s also sad that my first thought upon seeing these pics was, “What’s Katie promoting?” We haven’t had new Suri pics in a while – Katie’s on the promotional trail for Jack & Jill. Thus, new Suri pics. Also: I love Suri’s green Mary Janes. They’re super-cute and they’re the perfect shade of Kelly Green.
By the way, Yahoo had a longish essay on why and how Katie Holmes is “back to normal” – meaning that she isn’t wandering around in a chemical-induced Xenu-fog all of the time anymore. You can read the piece here – I don’t agree with all or many of the points, but I do agree that she seems somehow healthier these days. She seems to have gotten a bit better over the course of this year. Maybe they adjusted her tranquilizers. Maybe she’s being allowed to make the occasional outing with a CoS handler. Maybe she fond another outlet for her frustrations – but she does seem to be doing better.
UPDATE: We just got the ID on Katie’s skinny jeans – they’re Earnest Sewn skinny jeans in Sadie, and they cost $198.00.
PS… in the photos of Suri running, I imagine her making little “Beep-beep” sounds like the Roadrunner.

Ugh, I looked at one picture of her hiding and immediately felt like an asshole. This is no way for a kid to grow up. The parents, sure, they can handle it…they chose this lifestyle. Suri didn’t.
Jen I can’t agree with you more! I’ve never been a fan of Tom ‘crazy’ Cruise, but seeing his family (can I call them that . . or is contractual unit better?) being used to promote his long lost career is too sad – especially for Suri. And I seriously wonder what he has on Kate that would make her stay and put up with the control freak lifestyle?

I agree about Suri always being pap’d and how horrible it must be for her but isn’t part of the blame on the parents for always parading her around? Couldn’t they make a bit of an effort and try to shield her her a little more? Seems to me like Suri is probably the most pap’d celebrity kid out there…
WOW a little tom cruise. you can see the katie in her, but i immediately thought of the movie “vanilla sky” when shes looking straight forward towards the camera. i dont like tom cruise, but i think katie and her kids are cute.

Actually, Katie IS wearing on of her own designs. That blazer is part of the Holmes&Yang collection.
Normal family is all I see….I doubt Katie stays cause she “has to”..gez, you guys are too funny. And as far as the coat..my daughter is the same way – running around while I battle the coat issue. So far shes still alive and hasnt died of pnemonia. Nothing the Cruise family does or will ever do will be good enough for you people. Just because they are out and about doesnt mean they are pap hungry – they are trying to have a life.
I hate that they pap her out-I think that’s disgusting. Plenty of celebs have kids that you don’t see unless they happen to take them to a movie premiere. They intentionally use her to promote themselves.
Suri IS wearing a coat. Not in the last two pictures, but in the first two, she’s wearing an pink fluffy one which looks adorable btw.
@Happymom, So it’s ok for celebrities to take their kids to a movie premiere, but if Katie is photographed out&and about with her daughter then she’s using her for promotion? I believe Suri was coming back from a gymnastics class in these photos. As you can see, the paps are camped outside their apartment. I’m not sure there is much they can do to avoid them.

Did you see the bag in pic #1. <3 who is it? It almost looks like a doctor bag, only less duffle-bag-ish.
Katie stays because she’s paid to and she’s under contract.

Jen, I co-sign that sentiment. I usually don’t look at the posts with kids in them (I do make a couple exceptions for celebs I like who have kids). It feels wrong to participate in something that makes them uncomfortable.
I don’t see them complaining about paps lately. Suri is their new talent ticket & in training. She pretty much said so on ABC this morning. “so amazing”… still answers to questions. Get it?
