So is Duchess Kate preggo, or does she just hate to eat in public?

wenn3589791

Has anyone else ever noticed that whenever the Duchess of Cambridge encounters anyone who works for a living, she can’t seem to stop making “OMG, WTF?” expressions. So, yeah, we’re still talking about these photos from last week’s trip to Copenhagen, where the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (also known as Will n’ Waity) did a photo op for UNICEF and Kate was forced to do stand around some boxes and hold things. She held things with elegance. She stared into boxes with level-headedness. She looked appropriately sepulchral while looking at packaged food and medical supplies. She also clutched her gut a few times and refused to eat peanut paste, which has caused many to assume that she’s got a gut full o’ Windsor. A few days ago, I theorized that Kate had refused to eat the peanut paste because she didn’t want to break her “no solids” diet. Now Us Weekly reports that it wasn’t pregnancy or a diet – Kate simply didn’t want to eat on camera:

Does passing on peanuts mean that Duchess Kate is pregnant? Not necessarily. Since the 29-year-old royal declined to sample peanut paste during her and Prince William’s Nov. 2 visit to a Denmark UNICEF distribution center, rumors have been rampant that the couple is expecting a child. (Although Kate is not allergic to peanuts, pregnant women are often advised to avoid peanut products to prevent allergies in their babies-to-be.) But a royal insider tells the new Us Weekly — on stands now — why this might not be the case.

“She’s not comfortable eating in front of cameras,” the insider said. “What if she didn’t like it and made a face? That expression would then be on every newspaper.”

A spokesman for the couple tells Us the policy is “to never confirm or deny [pregnancy] rumors,” but an insider insists: “If and when there is an announcement to make, it will be made by the palace as soon as it’s safe to.”

Should Will and Kate have a daughter as their firstborn, a new ruling will allow her to someday be queen. Upending centuries of royal law, leaders of the 16 countries that recognize the British monarchy recently agreed that a firstborn daughter should be able to ascend the throne even if she has younger brothers.

[From Us Weekly]

It’s not like someone put a big, burnt, chewy steak in front of her. William just dabbed a little paste on the tip of his finger and ate it in one swoop. I think the other excuses were better – she’s either pregnant or she doesn’t eat solids. By the way, London bookies have good odds on Kate and Will announcing a pregnancy by the end of the year. I still think they’ll announce in January – right about the time when Kate is supposed to announce her charitable patronages.

Speaking of Kate actually tending to the work of royalty, The Mail has a decent report about a potential patronage that Kate might be looking at – the Royal Opera House.

The Duchess of Cambridge famously entrusted her future father-in-law with helping her choose the music for her wedding. And he did her proud, particularly with Sir Hubert’s I Was Glad which played as she walked down the aisle. But it wasn’t the first time she turned to Prince Charles for musical advice and education.

The pair have been making secret visits to London’s Royal Opera House since well before Catherine got married. A Royal Opera House source told The Telegraph: ‘The Duchess of Cambridge and the Prince of Wales have made several private visits to the Royal Opera House together, before and since the royal wedding in April, to watch several opera and ballet productions. The Prince is a firm supporter of the Opera House and the Duchess also seems to hugely enjoy her visits to Covent Garden. Both have been very enthusiastic about the productions they have seen together.’

Prince Charles is a big fan of both classical music – he is the patron of the Royal Opera – and his ‘darling daughter-in-law.’ The Duchess, in turn, is keen to become a patron of the arts and will announce which causes she is supporting early next year.

The art history graduate is said to be thinking of supporting national galleries and institutions including The Tate, the National Gallery, the National Portrait Gallery and the V&A. She has scheduled meetings with directors and curators. But it is Prince Charles who is fighting for the Royal Opera’s cause.

Productions Charles and Catherine have seen together include the Royal Ballet’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, a new adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s book which opened in March. The Christopher Wheeldon-choreographed production at the Royal Opera House starred Simon Russell Beale as the Duchess. Catherine is especially fond of Carroll, she wrote her dissertation on the author’s photography.

[From The Mail]

So, that’s what Kate has been doing with her time. She’s been going to the opera with her father-in-law and checking out museums. Sounds like a really great vacation. But for Kate, it’s “work”! Sigh… I guess it was too much to hope for that she would actually take on some difficult causes, like homelessness, PTSD in veterans, childcare for low income families or women’s issues. No, Kate is going to hang out in museums and do artsy stuff.

  1. Naye in VA says:

Maybe… she doesnt like peanut butter.

    IJS

  2. Reece says:

No way is she pregnant! Think about it at this point in time she’d be popping the kid out during the Olympics. Too many missed photo ops for Britain and the Royals. Nope no new Windsors til 2013 I think.

  3. KWM says:

It may be her eating disorder that makes her not want to eat in public..

  4. Asha says:

im sorry but i think she is worthless she is 30 years old and accomplished nothing she will turn out to be just like camila

  5. JulieM says:

She looks like she doesn’t like to eat in private either.

What a non productive person. Going to museums and opera to suck up to her father-in-law. Yup, the Windsor clan got a real winner with Waity.

Actually, Camilla is a lot more active that Waity is.

  6. Ari says:

    uh maybe she is allergic

  7. DarkEmpress says:

looking a the frontal picture of her and seeing her belt clenched waist, I can only think – WAIF. Maybe she is healthy but it doesnt look so.

  8. murt says:

I don’t get all the criticism on Kate for being non-productive – yes she probably is, but she’s no worse than the rest of the Windsor clan. Charles, in fact, is the worst!

  9. Hmmm says:

So, Waity Dolittle is sucking up to Charles now. I thought blatant social climbers like her were relegated to novels and Mitford essays. And here she is, in the flesh, for many many years to come.

She doesn’t strike me as the broody type. I think if she ever does get preggers she will lie back and think of England ($$$$) to achieve it. Unfortunately, it will make her look fat. Oh, the trauma and sacrifice! She really is just a courtesan without the class and education. Quite common.

  10. layla says:

The beauty pageant curls are getting ridiculous.

Put the curling iron/rollers down Waity-Dolittle.

  11. eileen says:

I don’t blame her! Eating in public with cameras flashing all over the place, its going to take some getting used to. If she gets a smudge on her mouth or something in her teeth, she’ll never live it down and it will never go away. lol Poor thing!

  12. laurie says:

    What JulieM said.

Just looking at her stupid, dumb facial expressions just infuriates me for some reason. Also, how in the world can she get pregnant at that weight? Her body fat is so low I doubt she has a period anymore.

  13. Kara Ann says:

I don’t have a case of the Kate-Hates but I do think that she looks way too thin. I followed them for years before they married and she always looked healthy. She doesn’t now.
BTW, I believe the only requirement for William and Kate, as a unit, is to produce heirs and stay married while not embarrassing the monarchy to oblivion as Charles, Camilla, and Diana did. So far I think they have done much better than that, particularly William. I imagine the palace is thrilled with them.

  14. Ari says:

Look I don’t mean to comment again but as someone who knows a few people who have eating issues like major internal organ/stomach issues (my mom just had to get some surgery and was stick thin for a long time) its disheartening to read some of the comments only because she seems so nice and I hate to think she might be anorexic or something so yeah I will stick to my allergy to peanuts original post LOL

  15. Kaiser says:

Ari – The palace issued a statement about that. She’s not allergic. The options are: pregnant, doesn’t eat solids, or doesn’t want to eat in public.

  16. autumndaze says:

Look at all of the photos of her on this webpage; I wouldn’t eat in public either.
I don’t understand why some are so harsh on her; give her a little time to grow into her role.

  17. Jen34 says:

I wouldn’t want to be photographed eating anything, either. Think about it. Biting. Chewing. Swallowing. I don’t blame her.

  18. Lee says:

If I was the Duchess of Cambridge, I would be the biggest troll ever. I would amuse myself by trolling the public, the tabloids, & anyone else who can’t keep her nose out my uterus.

Like, I’d wear Beyonce’s Fetus Enhancer Pad to a major event & freak everyone out, then leave it at home the next day. I’d publicly refuse food/drinks that are not advised for pregnant women, then be photographed chugging champagne & coffee the following week. Then I’d go home and laugh my ass off.

    I’m very mature.

  19. mamaT says:

the kate hate has really surprised me.

  20. Franny says:

ever since that whole “scar/weave” piece, I really believe that she is wearing some kind of extensions. if you look at the bottom layer of curls, they are slightly different than the top.

disappointing to think that all along we were being tricked 🙁

  21. alfabc says:

Wonder what her breath is like.

  22. jamie says:

When I first heard about this I thought she probably didn’t want to eat on camera. If you pay attention most “celebrities” don’t eat on camera (like those Today show food segments, etc).

  23. Turtle Dove says:

The Royal family will probably want to block any type of “People’s Princess” associations; not because Diana didn’t do a great job, but because she DID a great job. Diana was the Royal who became more popular than the rest of the family, and she made them look foolish. I don’t think that they’ll make that mistake again.

  24. Jules says:

    zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  25. Smokey says:

@Lee – You’d be a great Duchess. I don’t think this one has much of a sense of humor.

  26. Tierra says:

I wouldnt be comfortable eating in public with all those cameras taking pics every second along with everybody watching me…NO WAY! I dont blame her a bit for being shy about that.
I wish people would give her time to get into her role. They havent even been married a year yet. Who would honestly be able to jump in head first with everyone scrutinizing her every move and word and then publicizing it all over the world. Im sure she’s very self-conscious about that. I really think her weight loss is due to nerves more than anything. You can tell she’s not entirely comfortable in her role yet. Give her time…jeeze.

That said, is Peanut Paste the same as Peanut Butter?

  27. Violet says:

She’s lost a lot of weight since they first got engaged, and I think she’s become anorexic.

Kate is absolutely spindly now, and must look skeletal naked. You would think Will would intervene, considering his own mother struggled with an eating disorder.

In any case, I feel sorry for her. The constant public scrutiny is clearly taking its toll on her self-esteem and health.

  28. Beth says:

A couple things: If there were no implements for tasting provided, considering all the handshaking they do, NOT putting your fingers (whether you’ve been shaking hands or not) in your mouth is always a wise idea. Also, I’m one of those people who doesn’t like to eat in front of other people, so if that’s her thing, I can relate. And peanut paste? The aftertaste and peanut breath would be unpleasant. In her shoes, I’d have done the same. And with all nitpicking about her weight, I’d be a stressing, skinny thing, too. However, for good or bad, I don’t have that issue. 😉

  29. Roma says:

@Lee: I think the same as you! I think we’d be a much better wife for Harry – I can totally see him going along with the joke.

  30. lrm says:

wow i dont get why ppl hate her-i dont think she is worthless or otherwise should be doing something ‘more’ with her ‘role’. i mean, do you realize how many women today wait for the guy they want to marry to be ‘ready’? and how many others still have a half dozen kids and live in utter poverty by the time they are 30? neither of these alternatives are better IMO. It’s like ppl expect her to be something she is not-or they expect this role to be something it is not. she’s just the newly married wife-regardless of how long she has been dating will and training for the role. they have institutionalized protocols at work; it’s not like she has all the say in the world. And frankly, she is a woman who knew what she wanted and stuck to it. I would think those traits would be admired. meh. i guess i just don’t get it. Although I DO get the hate for the monarchy as a whole, and the desire t see someone in a position of power do good. anyway…next.

  31. Alexis says:

Don’t confuse Kate-hate with calling her out on how it certainly seems like she has an eating disorder. I’m kind of meh-to-slightly-positive on Kate in general: I don’t think “royals” need to do a ton social work and I think she and her husband truly love one another, which is nice. One thing she and William are, though, is a symbol of the monarchy and of England, and the weight Kate’s at (paired with antics like this) makes her a bad symbol for women — not to mention it’s unhealthy for her personally (and her chances at producing an heir).

I think she takes herself too seriously. If she wears a hairpiece every now and then for volume, it would be cool if she just owned it — I think women would actually like her for that!

  32. Scarlet Vixen says:

I don’t blame her–I hate eating in public, too. When I was single and dating I DREADED dinner dates, and would only order things that were easy to cut in small bites and eat cleanly. And especially no salads! I was always afraid of getting dressing on my face or looking like a rabbit. No beans or black pepper (sticks in the teeth!), nothing too garlicky (bad breath!), no spaghetti sauce (might drip on my shirt!), etc. LoL, now that I type it I sound crazy. I was just so shy and nervous and wanted to always look my best and eliminate ways to make myself look like an idiot. I’m good enough at that on my own without schlepping food on myself.

  33. Anne says:

Of course she didn’t eat the peanut paste. Think of the calories.

  34. RobN says:

I, for one, think it’s nice that Charles is making a big effort to include her and make her feel welcome. I don’t think she’s sucking up; she was an art history major, she likes that sort of thing.

  35. Stacia says:

    I agree with Jules…ZZZZ….who cares.

  36. Ari says:

    @Kaiser – DAMN! 🙁

  37. Cherry Rose says:

@Asha – Actually, Camilla does work. I’m not really a royal expert, but I believe Camilla is frequently seen out at events and working with charities, either with Charles or by herself. So, while Camilla has her faults, please don’t say she is lazy like Kate.

I can understand Kate not wanting to eat actual food (like potatoes, meat, etc) in front of the cameras. But for peanut paste? Just take a tiny bite of it and be done with it. Sheesh.

If Kate gets pregnant, she will be coddled even more than she already is. But I think the Royal Firm will probably be making sure she eats, because they don’t want anything to happen to William’s heir.

  38. Wresa says:

Your dislike of this girl is starting to border on pathological…

  39. Snowangel says:

Can we please talk about Leanne Rimes now ?

  40. Jane says:

I think I read years ago the Queen also never eats in public if she can at all help it. It is something about giving people the opportunity to take pictures that are unflattering and even gross if someone is in mid chew or having a mishap with the food. She may not be as confident as William about doing these types of things with cameras flashing everywhere.

It would also be a good excuse for her to use when she is really watching her weight, as she obviously is doing or she wouldn’t be so thin.

As for passing a new law in England allowing the first born female offspring to rule, that should be done regardless of if and when she gets pregnant. The sooner the better.

  41. Gelinda Whiddon says:

“Jen34:I wouldn’t want to be photographed eating anything, either. Think about it. Biting. Chewing. Swallowing. I don’t blame her.” Great comment…very few people can pull off ‘cute’ while grinding up food before swallowing.

  42. Jackie says:

i love museums, galleries and the opera, but really…can she not put her high profile to good use and actually HELP people in need. royalty, ugh.

  43. remington says:

I don’t have strong feelings on Kate either way but I do feel the need to speak up as a young, working classical musician in my 20’s. There are many relevant and important charities that would benefit her patronage but supporting the Royal Opera House should not be referred to as excuse to do ” artsy” stuff. We need support for the arts and for classical music more than ever and if the ROH will receive some press and interest because she’s involved, I’m all for it! Love this site and the articles…just want to encourage support for the arts and music any way possible!

  44. Leticia says:

Love her coat and belt! And love her more muted eye liner. I think she looks lovely in these photos. Thumbs up!

  45. Laurie M. says:

#15 Kaiser – you forgot another option – perhaps she doesn’t like the taste of peanut butter or it makes her feel sick. Not everyone likes the taste of peanut butter & it has nothing to do with an allergy or pregnancy.

  46. blc says:

it blows my mind all the pregnancy rumors about this one. She is one of the thinnest people I have ever seen. Usually when pregnancy rumors start it’s b/c someone has gained a little weight or an unflattering photo was taken. Nothing about Kate makes her look pregnant. And I’m not saying she is anorexic or too thin or anything. But I am saying she is thin and does not look pregnant AT ALL

  47. anne_000 says:

It must be pretty hard to go see shows at the opera (with the best seats) & walk around a museum.

  48. Devon says:

I really don’t get all the hate on her. Any social aspirations and climbing aside, it’s obvious that they are happy and in love. Did she think “jackpot” when they started dating? Most definitely but they took their time, waited until they had a good solid relationship and then got married.

I think that a lot of women would trade spots with her in an instance. Never having to worry about money? Yes please. Living luxuriously? Yes please. Your only real responsibility is to not f up, have sex and produce an heir. Yes please. Getting to work on things you actually care about? Yes please. One day, you’ll be Queen? F$#& YEAH!

Kate sort of asked for this when pursuing a relationship with Will but he didn’t. He was born into this. Can’t control that. I think he and Kate are doing a good job and deserve a little slack. And if she has an eating disorder? Well that should be left alone. Look at what the pressure did to Diana. Give her a break.

  49. ruby says:

I completely agree with Hmmm and laurie.

I still don’t think she can get pregnant with her weight being this low.

And her facial expressions are so fake in these photos, ugh.

  50. The Original Mia says:

If she’s been taking princess lessons, they surely would have taught her how to eat delicately so as not to show off the food in her mouth. Funny, how Mary, Frederick, and William were able to do it, but Duchy Dolittle can’t. Either she’s failing her diplomatic classes or she didn’t want to ingest 3000 calories. I go with the latter.

Another thing…wouldn’t the royal secretaries of both families have worked out the details of this visit, so as not to have a royal faux pas?

  51. Euphorima says:

I dont get why everbody is all “waity Katie”!
obviously she made a conscious decision to wait for what she wanted….(some women do that sometimes)

And I’m sure she thinks it was worth the wait…. she obviously got what she wanted at the end of the day I dont get the blows she receives for ‘waiting’ on her man and her ‘dreams’

  52. Andie B says:

For God’s sake! What’s the big deal? She didn’t want any peanut paste. Maybe she’s preggers, maybe she’s not. Maybe she hates to eat in public, or has an eating disorder..or maybe none of those things. As for her being too skinny to get pregnant, if that Rachel Zoe creature can carry a baby so can Kate. My Uncle’s ex-wife was skeletally thin..I suspect she was anorexic. She gave birth to three healthy baby boys in the space of five years.

  53. Trek Girl says:

I don’t think she has an eating disorder, and I can see how she might not want to eat it in public.

It could be something that she is shy about, and/or she could be aware of the fact that pictures of eating can be turned into blog/tabloid/news stories that could be potentially embarrassing and bring unwanted attention. I have a hard time eating in front of people as well, so I don’t think anything sinister is going on.
I should also mention that while I think she is thin, I do not think her current weight would prevent her from getting pregnant or stop/disrupt her menstruation.

Until further notice I will regard her as a healthy young woman. I am happy that Prince William has a beautiful, seemingly nice wife, and will refrain from reading too much into things.

  54. Mare says:

I agree with 38. When you really, really want to hate someone it’s not hard to find a reason or spin the story the way it seems like there is a reason. Same with posts about Gwyneth Paltrow.

  55. layla says:

Can we stop with the whole “too skinny to get pregnant” argument.

I’m pretty sure Posh, Rachel Zoe, Nicole Richie (and no doubt many others) have proved that a moot point.

  56. diana says:

Again, I think she is fine with the royal life with all the cameras. Putting up with all of it well. I am sure she gets along with everyone in the royal family how is so lacking any personality whatsoever. She just wants to be thin and look pretty as a 20 year old and be princess like. she even makes the faces: surprised, elegant smile, happy laugh, lovey at will, anything she can think of. no depth to this woman. stick figure with no soul. it is william that holds back the child thing. if was up to her she would have been married long time ago, had a couple of kids by now and live the life she thinks a princess should. curly hair, lovely smile, and that’s all there is to it, right?

lets switch our attention to william and start following him. much much better facial expression….which means what the hell….am i supposed to live this life i didn’t ask for? he always look like he is: lets’ go over with this. please. the sooner the better. rubs his hands like ok let’s get moving.

have you ever looked at what a truly royal beauty looks like, check this link out:
    http://hotcelebritynews-alamgir.blogspot.com/2010/10/princess-madeleine-of-sweden-join.html

Kate….really? the title, hair dresser and wieght loss is not going to make a common looking girl a true beauty….more like a polished woman who is trying hard to look her best. and that’s fine. cause is not about beauty, is about lack of any kind of human empathy, depth and warmth…

  57. Cheyenne says:

If peanut paste, whatever that is, tastes as nasty as peanut butter, no wonder she won’t eat it.

As for getting pregnant while severely underweight, if Nicole Richie could do it, so can she.

  58. Original Tiffany says:

May I also just add that the British do not get peanut butter. I’ve lived there on and off, getting ready to move back in another five weeks and they are completely grossed out by the thought of a PB&J sandwich! We made a whole bunch of band members and studio guys try it. They don’t really eat peanut butter there, so maybe she just didn’t want to try it.
It’s like Americans and the vegemite thing, which some of my international friends love and I would NEVER put a bite in my mouth in public. I’d totally pull a face and maybe that’s what she was thinking.
Also, her hair. I still think real. My top hair and underneath hair are two different shades from sun exposure. My cousin is a hairstylist and that’s completely normal. Your hair isn’t normally all one block of color, and she gets hers done, so I’d expect more highlight and fading on top than underneath.
If I could and I can when there spend all my time in the museums, I do. Some of the best in the world and all free. Can’t wait until we get there after Christmas.

  59. Mare says:

    @ diana
And you know all of this how? Kate’s “lack of any kind of human empathy, depth and warmth”? How do you know that? She has done ONE interview and that was the only time you heard anything she had to say. You don’t know her, you don’t know if she’s smart or stupid, funny or not, educated or not, intelligent or not, interesting or dull, warm or cold, if she has depth or not. When she gives ten interviews and spends a lot more time in public eye, maybe than we will know but now we have no idea. “Stick figure with no soul”? Based on what?

  60. dvz says:

In snap 4 I see schmutz in her nostril, and her pupils are dilated. Add to that she looks about 10 years older than she actually is, and I’m going to say that she is not on a liquid diet, but in fact on a powder diet.

  61. Amy says:

I never understand the Kate hate either. Let her become a patron for things she cares about. I’m thrilled she wants to patron the arts–most museums and dance companies and opera houses are non-profits and depend on donations so let her patron them away. Go donate your own money to the causes you think she should patron if you feel that strongly about it.

And as for the eating–I would probably refuse eating on camera as well. And one thing most Americans seem to be unaware of–peanut butter/paste is not common in Europe and it’s hard to find in grocery stores. I love it but many Europeans hate the taste of it and the texture. So maybe she doesn’t like the taste!

  62. diana says:

Hahaha…many people comment on Kate and most of the comments are just plain assumptions.

Isn’t this what this site is for?

But hey Mare just to satisfy your curiosity:), here is why I said what I said:

I really believe that the fact that she did had only ONE crappy interview shows how terribly prepared she is (at 30 years old, after 10 years of royal life) for her “job”. And that is ONE year after her engagement:) And if that is all she had to say, that is what makes me believe that she has no depth. She has lots of people to rely on and get advice and that’s all she has to say? Seriously? It’s UNCIEF! be more articulate! It would be ok! Make mistakes, but show some backbone!

Anyway that’s my story and I’ll stick with it:) it’s not about how she looks. Whatever would work for me. The “not being articulate enough” tells me there is just nothing there. Wasn’t she supposed to be like some kind of a A student from an A plus university studying the most artsy stuff ? Well where is all that education?

Actually I find William to be princess Di. Not her. His story seems very interesting to me.

Sorry Mare if my thoughts about Kate bother you. reminder is a “bitchy” site. 🙂

And in the end you know nothing about me either. maybe I don’t need more than one interview that she was not preparing days before, to say : meh she is just not that great! Maybe you need more than one, because you probably are NOT one of the people she lives off of. Then you wouldn’t need 10 interviews (which she will be probably 40 by the time she has given 10 interviews all together…at this speed at one/year) to make up your mind.

  63. JuliaDomna says:

    @ asha:

Wow, that’s harsh! What do you mean when you allege that she has “accomplished nothing”? How do you know what her purpose in life is?

I would ask you what mountains you’ve managed to move in your lifetime, but I assume that you’re probably just waiting for someone to ask you such a thing so that you will have occasion to rattle off a long list of so-called accomplishments.

  64. annieanne says:

It’s interesting that everyone just assumes it was Will that took his time to get married. Doesn’t much cross anyone’s mind that an English girl, having lived thru both Diana and Fergie’s nightmares of marriages might have to think twice, three or even twelve times before wanting to marry into that family.

As for the pregnancy — Will is supposed to deploy to the Falklands for 10 weeks next year. I very much doubt Kate wants to spend 1/3 of her pregnancy with him 8,000 miles away. They’ll wait until he’s back before getting on with the heir part of the job.

  65. Anne says:

Since her degree from St. Andrews is art related it would make sense for her to pursue art related projects. The Palace will be choosing the charities she does anyway. And it doesn’t matter which ones she picks, since haters are going to find something wrong with it.

  66. Darlene says:

    1) she is NOT wearing extensions; clearly, her hair is her own.

    2) the hatred for her is so shocking.

    3) I don’t blame her for not wanting to eat in public. Think of the horrible photos. People tear her apart in photos where she’s just standing and speaking, let along biting and chewing.

  67. Raz says:

I don’t think she could physically get pregnant right now due to severe lack of food intake.

I have dabbled in fasting my entire life, and I have learnt you can deprive your body of food and nutrients for a maximum of 6 months at a time, if you keepmgoing your face starts to show, it’s rakes a toll on your eyes and skin,
She is no longer flowing like she used to, she’s malnourished, if she really wants to be a royal she better start eating so she can get pregnant or they might kick her out of the royal family!

  68. GoodCapon says:

It’s beneath Waity to eat in public. She did the same in Canada, she just played around with her food. I’ve seen photos of Camilla eating with her mouth wide open, it doesn’t seem to bother her.

Also I really don’t see her as that knowledgeable about arts to be honest. A History of Arts graduate should know if Faberge eggs were still being made. She f*cked up on that one – and in front of the Queen too.

  69. Mare says:

    @ diana
She has no depth because she did only one interview? I don’t see the logic, honestly. She just got married, she’s not a full time working royal, why would she be giving interviews non stop? Do other royals do interviews all the time?
I found her engagement interview pretty normal, nothing special and certainly not “crappy”. You say where was her university education then. They talked about their relationship, it was her first time giving interview, on camera, she just got engaged, she seemed nervous, why is that so bad and why does that mean she is not educated, not articulated and has no depth?
And maybe something is wrong with me but I really can’t form an opinion about someone’s intelligence and depth after only few sentences and photos. What does that have to do with the fact that she doesn’t live off of me?

And I have to add that this “bitchy” part really bothers me. I like gossip and that’s the reason I come here but insulting people you’ve never met on the internet, sorry but it bothers me. Bitchy or no bitchy, I find it really horrible. You called her “stick figure with no soul”, it’s something I simply cannot comprehend.

  70. Kata says:

I think its great that she’s interested in sponsoring art organizations. As an art history MA who does development work for a museum, it can be quite difficult to find funds to run even notable museums, and while I admit to being biased, I think the arts are extremely important! While I understand thinking she might want to pick up something health-related etc, in addition, I completely support her choice to work with her own interests.

And @ GoodCapon, the Faberge egg thing really ins’t that embarssing- art historians (especially those who just do it in college) don’t memorize THE ENTIRETY of art history. And Faberge eggs aren’t unlikely to be mentioned unless the professor has a special interest because they are considered more “decorative” arts rather than fine arts. I mean, I would be super embarrassed if I were her, but its not something she should definitely have known.

  71. Ally says:

There was a dumb item in the paper about she kept holding her belly at one of these events this week.

It’s either pregnancy or hunger cramps.

Btw, “sepulchural” — nice! This really is the intellectual’s gossip blog!

  72. Kloops says:

I think she should have tasted the damn paste. Full stop. No alleged potential allergy to an unborn fetus, or hubby’s dirty hands, or self consciousness re: eating in public would be enough for me to commit a faux pas for a charitable organization that feeds starving children. Suck it up, this is your job and it’s a pretty damn cushy one.

I like Waity but she needs to man up.

  73. GoodCapon says:

Kata – This is just me nitpicking, couldn’t she have at least prepared herself? She knew they were going to visit the exhibition, she could have brushed up on her art history. I know she was trying to make small talk with the Queen… but IMO she failed.

  74. Jackie says:

Oh we can put all this to rest right now! We all know that queenie dearest won’t be having grand babies and prego Kate take center stage during her diamond jubilee year! Plus she and Will are gonna have hella trips to make on behalf of the monarchy this coming year, not good for a pregnant woman to be traveling that much. I guarantee that the queen has told them something along the lines of “you either conceive immediately after the wedding, or wait until July of next year so you can announce it in time for Christmas” I seriously think grandma’s got Kate’s birth control by the short and curlies 🙂

  75. Summer says:

I love how all the Kate hating comments show utter ignorance of the British royal family and how things are “done” in that world.
@ Diana. Kate hasn’t had “10 years of royal life”. She’s been married just over 6 months ie thats the extent of her Royal life. Dating William for several years doesn’t count. She was on the outer until they married because she was a commoner – that’s how it works. Yes, she would’ve seen how the Royal world operates, but looking from the outside in, versus being part of it, is entirely different.
Also – do you seriously believe Kate can run off and give random interviews to show ‘her backbone’? Again, it just doesn’t work that way. She’s part of the Firm, with very strict rules regarding what and what not to say to the media – and how many interviews she gives and when. Lets not forget William hasn’t forgotten what happened to his mother and is determined to protect Kate. He’s not going to buy into any media blitz around Kate, or have her pushed into being a working Royal until she’s ready. Diana was pushed into her role within weeks of her honeymoon; they’re doing it differently with Kate and who can blame them.
I think Kate’s pregnant. The Queen and Diana were both pregnant within 3 months of their marriages – its the Royal thing to pop out the heir. So lets see if there was another reason – aside from the Kate hating comments about calories and liquid diets- as to why she didn’t eat the peanut paste.

  76. JulieM says:

Once and for all: Charles and Camilla make multiple appearances every week. They are much more active than Waity is. Check the court circular.

#2: Diana’s misery did not stem from her having to make public appearances when she was 20 years old. Her misery was caused by an unloving husband who kept his mistress on the side.

Diana: I’m with you. All you need is eyes amd ears to see that Waity is a “stick figure with no soul”. There is no there there. But you will never convince the Waity Fan Club. Oh- and you need to stop being bitchy on Celebitchy. I know I won’t.

  77. Flan says:

Your writing really made me laugh.

She really doesn’t have any concept of working, does she?

How lazy will she be when she’s pregnant and has an ‘excuse’?

  78. Lol says:

isnt there some rule that no one is ever allowed to take pictures of the queen eating? maybe as future queen shes afraid shes not supposed to eat in public either?

  79. Anne says:

JulieM: Charles is the 1st in line to the throne, of course he busier than Kate. The Palace chooses Kate’s schedule, anyone who thinks otherwise is not living in reality.

Not to mention there is a difference between being bitchy or snarky and being petty. Most of the comments here are just petty. There are so many comments here proclaiming love or respect for Princess Diana, and then ridiculing Kate for potentially having an eating disorder, even though Diana suffered from one as well.

  80. GoodCapon says:

I honestly don’t see the difference between the comments about Waity and comments about other celebrities here (say, Jen Aniston). Are we supposed to give her a pass just because she is a member of the RF?

  81. JulieM says:

Anne: My comment about Charles and Camilla was directed to those who think they don’t do anything. Don’t kid yourself. If Kate wanted to do more, she would do more.

And what does having an eating disorder have to do with respect? I respected Diana because she continued to work for her causes even after her husband made a fool of her. I disrespect Kate because she did nothing for practically her entire adult life except bag a rich prince. I do not profess to understand what causes someone to chose to starve to death. I find it tragic.

Bitchy and snarky isn’t petty? Who knew. You ought to read the Jen vs Angie threads around here. Now that’s entertainment!

  82. Anne says:

JulieM: Except that the Palace doesn’t want her to be doing more. And if you want to stay in the the good graces of Palace you do what they want. The Royal Family took a beating for being seen as throwing Diana out there, they don’t want to be accused of the same thing with Kate. I think the Palace is making a mistake in not having her out there a little bit more, since she attracts the press so much.

An eating disorder in and of itself has nothing to do with respect. However people are professing to respect Diana for all that she went though, while giving hating on Kate. When Diana was alive she was subject to quite a bit of hatred. People like to ignore that now because it ended so tragically. Perhaps because they don’t want to think about how they gleefully ate of of the tabloid gossip about her when she was alive.

I do think there is a difference between bitchy or snarky and being petty.

Do I think she deserves a pass, no. But most if not all the Kate hate seems to center on her body or on her daily schedule. I think it one thing to snark on her clothes or hairstyle or even the Palace handling her so carefully. But attacking someone for having an eating disorder, now that is lazy.

  83. iseepinkelefants says:

Waity Dolittle, England’s very own geisha, would do well to get pregnant during the year of the Olympics. The Windsors can parade her around and it will be a show that they will prevail. It’s right up their alley.

  84. The Original Mia says:

Well said, Kloops! This was a PR misstep for Duchess Dolittle. Who cares if she doesn’t like it/didn’t want it? Starving people don’t have the option of being picky about the food that keeps them alive. They’ll eat anything. She should have done it. Period. End of story.

  85. HoustonGrl says:

I don’t know if she’s pregnant or not, but if she is, I’d be surprised. First of all, that would make her due date right around the “diamond” thing, which would totally trump the Queen (whom, as we know, does not take kindly to being trumped). Then, Wills is off to the Falklands, which seems an odd time to have a baby when both parents can’t be around. Then, they will be busy promoting the Olympics. I don’t know, I guess there’s never an “easy” time to have a baby. My bet is on late next year.

  86. serenitea says:

Kloops and Original Mia — you hit the nail on the head! Barring allergy (which the Palace clearly said she doesn’t have) it is her JOB in her role supporting that charity to taste the peanut paste — does NOT matter if she doesn’t like the taste, doesn’t want to be seen eating, etc, etc. Sometimes doing things we don’t want to do is just what adults have to do! She clearly has some kind of aversion to food.

On that note, how can anyone deny that this poor woman has a full-blown eating disorder if this is what she looks like in pictures, in oversized clothes, etc? I just don’t get the denial.

  87. Mrs.Krabapple says:

The reason Kate doesn’t do more is because the royal family doesn’t want her to. It seems to me that the royal family views her as an idiot who cannot handle herself in public. They don’t trust her to speak appropriately, and are worried she’ll embarrass them, and that’s why they don’t let her do anything meaningful.

And I don’t for a minute believe William “loves” her and is simply protecting her. He wouldn’t have dumped her the way he did after stringing her along for so long. Then he tested her to see if she’s a true doormat, and she passed the test: she came running back as soon as he called despite the poor way he treated her. THAT is what he wanted in a wife, and that’s what he got. I’m sure he is HAPPY with the marriage, but that does not equate to him loving Kate. You can’t love someone you don’t respect.

It must be hard living with people who look down on you. Maybe that’s why Kate starves herself and shops a lot.

  88. ruby says:

As for the fan club saying she doesn’t have an eating disorder… Come on. It’s all I can see when I look at pictures of her. It’s absolutely obvious. I’ve had one, I’ve known several people that almost died of one. I’m not professing to be an expert but in this case I can sure as hell tell you that she has an eating disorder.

And as for people who say that we should leave her alone… Well she’s an extremely public figure and millions of girls look up to her. When she became a Royal in such a prominent position she knew she would be an example. And this is the example she’s setting to all those girls out there ? Not ok. Not ok at all.

  89. diana says:

First of all, I am sure Queen doesn’t like to have her pictures taken when she eats. She is old people!! Prolly lots of problems when she chews and difficulty handling a certain food texture…and so on. TV came live when she was what? late 50s? And by that I mean when EVERYONE could afford a tv. I can totally understand that.

Second of all, I have seen movies of Kate and Will while in Danmark on youtube. Ok the woman is truly a lost puppy. Doesn’t she have someone who could explain her step by step what will happen at a certain meeting, what would she be asked if someone randomly throws a question at her and she can’t pretend that she hasn’t heard it? The questions she was asked in that interview were the most normal questions ever. And she should have had an answer ready. She just couldn’t find her words. Like a 3 year old asked what’s your name?

Third of all: I don’t think people would be that harsh on her if she and the whole royal family wouldn’t really live off million of tax payers. Is like ok planning to make your house all pretty and knowing exactly what you want when it comes to that….but not be able to speak coherent and look like you just crapped your pants….that is what we are bothered by.

Forth point: She truly needs help with her eating disorder. Is not wheather she has one, is why the firm won’t intervene? They have access to the best therapists. Come on!

Fifth: she did live like a royal for ten years. A life on unimaginable privilege. And And I’m sure she got used more than you and me to cameras since she was under permanent scrutiny at all times.

Sixth: I personally think William is the Diana one. he looks terrified for her. I think he makes the palace to clarify the hair thing and the peanut thing. OMG! The only thing Waity has is hair. Lets not make even that go away.

That video of them is horrible. She looks lost like a puppy and he looks like he is about to have a stroke.

And btw: Aniston and Angelia work for their money, ok? Is THEIR money, not US tax payers money.

And yes where the money comes from to support her counts. Ok? If you want us to pay for your sh*t work for it. In US if you are unsatisfied with the way your fruit looks like you take it back to the store. So yes when you don’t pay for up keeping this huge head of curls, you can be laid back. But when you do, things change. Don’t they?

  90. dahlia1947 says:

Wow this is sooo petty. oooh why didn’t she eat the peanut paste? WHO CARES! There’s alot of pressure on her and she’s just trying to grow into her role.

Don’t let the jealousy get to you. It’s not healthy.

  91. Lisa says:

I would be scared to eat in public if I knew a camera could catch me making a stupid face mid-bite.

  92. Kay says:

I currently am pregnant in the UK and the recommendations right now do not advise avoiding peanut products in case of allergy. Aside from being told that at my first appointment while discussing foods to avoid, I got an NHS pregnancy book from my midwife that addresses it specifically, saying “[T]he government previously advised women that they may wish to avoid eating peanuts during pregnancy if there was a history of allergy in their child’s immediate family… this advice has now been changed because the latest research has shown that there is no clear evidence to say if eating or not eating peanuts during pregnancy affects the chances of your baby developing a peanut allergy.” So it’s unlikely that she’s avoiding it due to pregnancy, especially if she doesn’t have a peanut allergy, as that’s not the current recommended guidelines from the NHS/in the UK.

  93. Victoria says:

What’s wrong with those pictures. Her face looks weird. Like it’s frozen or something. Is that a side effect from not eating. I loved Kste for ever, but I have had a cooling down towards her, but I’m still concerned for her health and over all well being.

I hope she’s hanging in there.

  94. Lorrie says:

She isn’t pregnant. She just has allergic reaction to food. I don’t think she will be pregnant for at least a year.
