I never liked Dirt either. To me, it was so "inside joke"-ish. "Ha ha, isn't this funny? Famous people sitting around making fun of non-famous tabloid people, in a way that only other famous people can truly understand." Almost -- ALMOST -- as bad as that horrendous scene in Ocean's 12 (13?) where Julia Roberts's character pretends to be Julia Roberts. God, that was awful.

I like Cox, though. She was good on Friends. I still stick to my uncorroborated belief, however, that David Schwimmer is the most underrated actor from that show. It sounds crazy, but to me, he played a character the least like his "real" self. I've seen him in other things since, and he's always completely different from bumbling, annoying Ross. Aniston, on the other hand, the most overrated Friend, always plays an iteration of Rachel. Just my opinion, of course...

While I freely admit that I developed a huge crush on Courteney Cox when she appeared on "Family Ties" way back when, I also, even then, realized that Courteney's acting abilities and comedic timing were, to put it nicely,
crap.

Then, along comes the NBC overrated and highly sophmoric "Friends", featuring Cox's overrated and vapid BFF, one Jennifer Anacin. Now, while I admit that Courteney, in '94/95, was still smokin' hot, I also realized that time had not enhanced her...er...acting skills. True, I have watched perhaps only 3 episodes of that insipid series, but that was more than enough to see that Cox-Arquette simply did not, and does not possess the acting chops. Plus, Courteney and Anacin elected to drop way too much weight; they emerged looking as if they had spent hiatus in a concentration camp. Courteney Cox, sans
15 pounds and flat ironed hair, morphed into a skeletal version of Elvira.

"Dirt"? One huge pile of it; I watched 20 minutes of this crap and couldn't decide which was worse - the storylines/scripts or Ms. Cox-Arquette's phone-in wooden performance.

“Forty-year-old women on TV are so beautiful and perfect and wrinkle-free,” said Lawrence, who first worked with Cox when he was a writer on “Friends.”

Uh...first of all, is somebody in denial here? Courteney is 44 going on 45, but, anything to preserve the illusion and sustain the delusion of time marching on. Secondly, sure, one can be "perfect and wrinkle-free" when one is injecting botox into the forehead and collagen into the smackers. Oh, but Ms. Cox-Arquette claimed to try it...only ONCE. Uh huh.

Anyway, before I digress, I will give Cox-Arquette kudos where they are due; at least she, unlike the self-absorbed, minimally talented Jennifer Anacin, knows her place - the delusional wasteland of television and not the big screen. Then again, it's highly questionable if Cox-Arquette has ever been deluded with big screen offers.

Okey-dokes, this guy's rant has finished.

I thought Dirt was ok too but I'd love to see her doing some really good tv work - even watching her now on Friends' reruns, her delivery and comic timing is great. Just needs some good writing behind her. I hope this one works.

Courteney Cox doesn’t seem to have learned her lesson from Dirt.

LOL what the hell "lesson" was she SUPPOSED to learn?!?! She was on a very successful sitcom for years, had one flop...YEAH, THAT'LL LEARN 'ER! 8O

P.S. I won't be watching. And not just because the cable company recently figured out I was getting free cable; no,mainly because it just sounds stupid, AND if it's not cartoons or sports I'm probably not a fan... :P

The title needs to change. Swing Town just got canned and Cougar Town will too. Try something like Cougariffic or Cougartastic ;-)

Say it like Samantha from Sex and the City....
