Dita Von Teese, immaculate in a silver-grey gown: beautiful or busted?

In the last two public appearances that Dita Von Teese has made, I kind of hated her outfits. That’s hard to admit, because Dita is usually one of my favorite fashion girls. Even in candid photos when she’s shopping or just out and about in LA, she’s always immaculately pulled together. But in Australia a few weeks ago, she was wearing one of her own designs (for Muse) and she looked… budget. And then she was at some event a few weeks wearing Gaultier, and she looked busted too.

So these are new photos of Dita doing a promotional stop in Florida for her contract with “My Cointreau Travel Essentials”. She gets paid to wear pretty clothes and drink! I love that. I also LOVE this dress. She looks poured into it, and the dress itself is so shiny and immaculate. Like it’s some kind of silk-rubber hybrid. It’s awesome. Look at the way it hugs Dita’s curves! Amazing.

In a recent interview, Dita said that more people were getting into burlesque because:

“I think it’s because they like to see an alternative kind of beauty. I’m not tan, I’m not blonde, I don’t look right in a bikini. Running on the beach in a bikini isn’t really my thing. I’m never going to be on the cover of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue, let’s put it that way.”

She doesn’t look right in bikini? The hell? Her body is great. Maybe she’s talking about her pale skin, and how her whole vibe is “glamour” not “beachy fun times”. Besides, it’s more fun seeing her fully clothed.

Busted hell. She looks great in that dress.

Not a fan of the weird manicure and I really wish the fabric on the bottom of the dress matched the top (bottom looks like one of those make-you-sweat plastic suits people used to exercise in in the 80s)…

but other than that…VA VA VA VOOM!!! Gorgeous.

  3. Pyewacket says:

So tired of her schtick. She is old news, but she does look better here.

I really don’t get what the fuss is about this woman. Her “dancing” is stiff, I think that her style and outfits are often off and I don’t think that she is particularly attractive. As someone else pointed out in one of the threads a few days ago, she does resemble Rumer Willis who it seems that everyone can’t spend enough time denouncing. (Interestingly enough, I think that Rumur actually is attractive).

She also once said that she made a habit of staying out of the sun because she didn’t want to have “wrinkly brown skin” when she was older. As someone who has brown skin, I just can’t with Dita.

“…didn’t want to have “wrinkly brown skin” when she was older…”

I get what you’re saying but I don’t think Dita went with her answer in “that” direction. I have brown skin too and I stay away from the sun because well, I just don’t like it for various reasons. There’s a difference between being a white, a blond bimbo and having tan because you spend hours in the solarium or on the beach and tanning normally and not excessively when on a holiday. The first result is called: crisp & leathery. It’s that yucky orange-ish colour. It’s not natural and plain unhealthy and I do think Dita, who is very body and health concious for her job doesn’t want to look like that. Ok, he’s old but believe me, I’ve seen a lot of young people with skin like his. Women and men…

On another note, I don’t care for her celebrity status but she is really cute without make-up, she’s not exactly a famewhore and she seems really normal so I can’t find anything to snark at except her association with Manson and that ship has sailed a long time ago…

How strong is that drink? She “doesn’t look right in a bikini”? She must be talking image-wise or something because otherwise she sounds stark raving mad.

And this dress does look better than those last two monstrosities.

  6. Rose says:

I WANT HER LIFE!! Not fair

  7. Wif says:

    Wow, she’s breathtaking in that.

  8. Happymom says:

I think she looks amazing. She’s not a conventionally beautiful woman-but she’s so stylized and cool. I love that old Hollywood glamour-so I appreciate Dita’s look.

  9. Stubbylove says:

She doesn’t even look real – gorgeous – she’s wearing the hell out of that dress – love it!

  10. Pippa says:

I’d love it if only the kind of ruched effect went all the way down. As it is just kind of looks like a minidress that someone altered really lazily.

  11. Cathy says:

    What is she famous for???

  12. Jessica says:

Question is: Did she actually drink that cocktail??

  13. K says:

I wonder how long it takes her to put on her make-up?

  14. cocnut says:

why use the word “busted” in the title? you thought she looked great. i think it’s a cheap shot.

  15. Jane says:

Looks beautiful, and I love her moon manicure.

Wasn’t she supposed to have a beauty book coming out?

  16. Franny says:

    I think she looks great…

…but I’m kind of bored of hearing about people looked “busted” all the time. the only person who truly looks busted is linnocent. this? not busted

  17. K-MAC says:

why do you keep asking if these stunning women look busted????WTF?? Dita is gorgeous and so is that dress!

  18. Jessica says:

She is too blonde, actually. But I get her point. I’m torn between loving the way the dress fits her like a glove and hating it for some reason I can’t quite pin down….

  19. toto says:

her look stands between Megan fox and Evan Rachel wood

  20. Ferocity says:

    @ Renee

In her defense, I think that she’s talking about people who are naturally fair staying out of the sun. People who prematurely age their skin by tanning do tend to get gross. People who are naturally brown (and I can’t say that I’m one of them, but the ball-and-chain is) will not get gross skin because of the whole tanning business.

  21. G says:

Gorgeous. Love that the accessories are minimal or non-existent, keeping it from going over the top.

  22. Lisa says:

    WOWSERS. She looks GREAT.

  23. Redd says:

Fabulous, just fabulous. That dress is gorgeous!

  24. spinner says:

    DANG!!! VA VA VOOM!!!

  25. Cherry Rose says:

    She looks beautiful.

Personally, I think Dita looks amazing with the minimal amount of make up.

I do agree that Dita does have a strange looking face and probably isn’t your typical beauty, but that’s what I love about her. She’s learned to work with what she’s got.

  26. what?! says:

“I’m never going to be on the cover of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue, let’s put it that way.”

umm, but wasnt she in playboy? a magazine which usually has blonde tanned girls in it? shes not as alternative as she likes to make herself out to be.

  27. Micah says:

    Gorgeous!

  28. Turtle Dove says:

Old school glamor all the way. Dita is STUNNING in that dress, and her figure looks amazing.

  29. Vera says:

From mid-thigh up it’s great, just don’t like that it suddenly changed texture/style. It looks better sitting down, though. Beyond that it isn’t amazing but it is certainly fine. I do like the shape on her.

  31. whatevs says:

these kind of tight and shiny fabrics can make even the skinniest women look like they sport a tummy. oh well she looks very well groomed as usual. except for the shape of those nails. the polish is flawless though

  32. Meanchick says:

    Beautiful. Go Dita!

  33. jc126 says:

I’m quite certain she meant SHE would have “wrinkly brown skin” if she tanned. If someone has naturally brown skin, sun exposure isn’t going to make it wrinkly. The sun-worshippers who are naturally fair are going to get that leathery look from tanning.

  34. beclove says:

Beautiful.. brings to mind Vivian Leigh (gorgeousness!!!)

  35. kim says:

    Beautiful!

  36. sandy#1 says:

i guess I’m late to the party, but i will weigh in anyway, not that any one cares , i like her look here, very nice, there!

  37. marie says:

Dita Von Teese needs to crawl back into her coffin and go away. She is talentless, barely attractive, and has as much personality as a wet paper bag.
