Star: Miley Cyrus should’ve called herself a lush instead of a pothead

Here’s another entry for the “Miley Cyrus, degenerate,” file. Although I’m not sure how much truth exists witin this story or whether this week’s Star has merely grasped onto a kernal of possibility and twisted it into something believable. Apparently, Star has spoken to a bystander who was present at Miley’s 19th birthday party, which arrived complete with a Bob Marley cake purchased by Kelly Osbourne as an alleged joke that riffed upon Miley’s infamous salvia video. According to Star‘s source, Miley has decided that her career should take a backseat to partying and boozing:

Miley Cyrus’ life is spiraling out of conrol as she continues to make partying her No. 1 priority. “Miley has not been motivated with her career,” a sources tells Star.

“Instead, she’s been partying hard and boozing a lot. She’s been missing business meetings and hasn’t been writing any new music.” At her 19th birthday party at Beacher’s Madhouse at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, Miley was spotted downing drink after drink. “She had a Corona Light in her hand almost the entire night,” an eyewitness recalls. “She was doing shots of tequila and buying cocktails for strangers. She was drinking a ton and encouraging everyone else to drink!”

And the former Disney star sparked outrage among her young fans for referring to herself as a “stoner” after pal Kelly Osbourne presented her with a Bob Marley cake. “She should’ve called herself a lush instead,” says the source. “That would’ve been more fitting.”

[From Star, print edition, December 19, 2011]

Once again, I’m left to wonder why bartenders would risk their livelihoods by serving alcohol to a minor, no matter whether the minor is famous or not. In addition, Miley’s parents were also present at the party, so one would hope that they’d step in and tell their daughter to put down the booze for at least another two birthdays, right? Maybe not.

While I could believe that Miley could be looking to drown her sorrows after a failed attempt to sex up her image, I’m not sure whether or not she’d do so in such a public venue. Or at least, she might not do so when so many witnesses could easily run to a tabloid and sell a story. This just sounds like too easy of a story to make up given the circumstances, but I could be wrong.

I think it’s great Miley is keeping a lower profile (for her and for us). She deserves this time off to be a lush if she wants to. I’d be nice if she’d try to go to school, but oh well.

Her parents disgust me. They put her to work at age 11 and let the younger Cyrus dress like a slut at age 9. Billy Ray can complain now how Disney tore apart his family, but he started the rip when he choose to put her out there in the first place.

      Word.

    • MJ says:

Totally. I think she’s actually doing really well for herself. She doesn’t seem to give an eff what people think of her. 19 is a reasonable age to be drinking (it’s the drinking age up here in Canada, besides the 2 provinces that are 18), but I understand it’s illegal. She’s probably had the maturity of a college girl (not saying much, but you know) since she was 15.

Her parents? You’re seriously expecting two irresponsible famewhores to have any idea of how to properly raise and educate children/teens? If this story true, then I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re the ones providing the booze.

I’ll never forget the pictures of her youngest sister posing suggestively on the red carpet and blowing kisses at the people, while wearing nothing but a pink swimsuit.

I don’t get the hate about drinking at age 19. I mean, I know it’s illegal in the US, but as a Canadian, that makes no sense to me. You can vote, join the army, etc, but you can’t drink? and ok, fine, but I also don’t think there’s anything wrong with parents allowing their slightly underage daughter to drink in their presence as it would hopefully allow them to safely learn their limits knowing they’re in a safe space. In a lot of places in Canada, even under 18/19, teens are allowed one drink with a meal at a restaurant if they’re with their parents and have permission.

Though to be fair, this is the Cyrus family, so I guess I can’t expect them to be responsibly supervising their daughter during these escapades. They’re probably right along side her doing body shots and Lohan-ing it up.

      • Eve says:

I don’t think it’s a big deal to drink something (as light as Corona) at that age either. But tequila?

In any case, I think that all depends on how much and how frequently one drinks. If that happens every once in a while, that’s fine. But let’s not forget girls like Lindsay Lohan and Christina Aguilera — I don’t think they started with heavy amounts of booze (or maybe they did), and look at them now.

      • lee says:

That’s a good point. It’s fine to party once in a while, most of us do, but when you have the money and the access that these girls have, it’s a relatively short slope down to bloated clown faced drunk.

  3. bea says:

Wow – she has no sartorial sense. That teal mixed print “gown” gives me a headache. How can such a cute girl manage to look terrible all the time?

I agree, her parents are lacking.

  4. annaloo. says:

When I was 19, I was a total boozehound so I couldn’t judge her for that. Her parents, tho…they were there? Really?

  5. duhh says:

I think the most shocking part of this story comes from “she hasn’t been writing any new music”. I never realized that she wrote her own music to begin with.

  6. Mava says:

She’s 19. If she was in Canada, this would not be a big deal (drinking age 19, 18 in Quebec)…Corona lights? What a rebel. IF this story is even true, maybe she just wants to take some time off for herself after being pimped out by her parents her entire youth. I doubt we have another Blohan on our hands here.

    • Jessica says:

LOL!!! I remember when I was 17 I was getting “drunk” off the 4 packs of wine coolers… LOL – ahh to be young again, YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE!!

  7. Lauren says:

Why is everyone so hard on her? She is 19 and although that is not technically of legal drinking age, if she was in college like a whole lot of the kids her age, she would be boozing just as much if not more! Man, I was really testing and learning my limits at 19 and by the time I was 21 I had settled down a little more on the drinking! She actually seems like a normal 19 year old!
So what that she has put on a little weight! That is completely normal for any 19 yo college student, she’ll figure it out and lose it! Lighten up!

  8. Marjalane says:

    Isn’t this how Lohan started?

    • normades says:

Nope, not even close. Miley is not Lohan or Britney. Even if she’s drinking she has her shit way more together than those too at the same age.

  9. RocketMerry says:

Or maybe she’s trying to make herself look a bit more “mature” by drinking and partying, since sexing up her image has failed. Who knows.

  10. Byeee says:

    Her time is up …

  11. Beatrix says:

come on guys – 19? what the hell were you guys doing at nineteen? If I remember correctly, I was in my first or second year of college and boozing it up like the irresponsible teen I was…if her parents are around when she does this, though, that’s some other sh*t

    • TheOriginalKitten says:

I completely hear you-I was doing this much and MORE at 19 but I was also not in the public spotlight nor was I a millionaire actress/pop star that millions of tweens idolize. I’m just saying-maybe exercise some discretion????

  12. Julie says:

She’s look bloated in the pics I see of her as of late. Or maybe just a little weight gain. And I agree, alot of us were doing the same at 19. Haven’t seen evidence of too much abuse.

  13. layla says:

I’ve always found it strange that in the US you can send a kid off to die for his country at 18 but heaven forbid he have a beer!

  14. TheOriginalKitten says:

I think that maybe some sacrfifices should come with being a 19 year old who is worth $120 Mill (more maybe?). Maybe chill with the booze and drugs or at least have the sense to keep it on the DL? Maybe NOT the best choice to get publicly intoxicated????? It grates on my nerves when these young chicks use the excuse of “I’m not a role model” when they made millions off of crafting a certain image and basically exploited a fan base. Seems so disingenuous to me..

    • lee says:

I hear you, but I think it’s hard to do these things privately in this age of tabloid gossip. I mean, this was technically a private party right? It’s not really her fault someone ran to the tabs. Plus, when you start out as young as Miley did, you have no real choice on your audience. Even if she’d wanted to do serious film acting instead of the Disney crap, I assume it was her parents who planned her early career. (Not that she would have had the talent for that, but still.)

I do respect that she distanced herself from that fan base as soon as she was out from under Disney’s thumb. So it’s not really like she’s been lapping up millions from kiddies for the last 2 years while pretending to be a sweet little princess.

I can’t believe I’m defending this girl though. ha.

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

Very good point-I missed the “private party” part of it, that does put it in a different context. But I still stand by my point that she should be held to a higher standard than the average 19 year old. Or maybe her (and her parents) should return the millions they made off of her goody-goody image?

  15. photo jojo says:

I love that white dress on her – it’s very cute.

  16. weeble says:

At the end of the day, this girl made her money from parents and families who believed she was a squeaky clean Disney brat. So no matter what many of us may think about the drinking age –I couldn’t care less if it were lowered to 18 or 19 here in the U.S.–the bottom line is that lots of parents do care and still hold her to that image. She does, in a way, have the responsibility to at least tone it down at public events or events where strangers will be present.

    • normades says:

She started hannah montanning at what 12? She has no responsibility for anyone to keep up an image that was decided for her at such a young age.

I think it’s really healthy of her to keep a lower profile. She gots the money, at least she not famehoing.

  17. Lauren says:

I never believed that Miley was squeaky clean. Look at her mother..retired stripper with a huge tattoo on her back, fake boobs. Miley worked to support her hillbilly family. Miley looks like she has put on weight, so I am hoping she is at least not a drug addict..like LL.

  18. whatevs says:

she looks like she cut and wore her grandma’s curtains in the first pic, and like a stately matron in the second. and she needs to disappear completely from the public eye. such an improvement when you don’t hear about untalented twits anymore

  19. CTgirl says:

I see the Miley train coming around a curve in the tracks and I’m oping she can keep from crashing.

  20. thebutlerdidit says:

Miley has performed at the Trevor Project for gay teens this month, is performing for CNN’s Soliders event next week, has three movies in the can comin out next yr, has sang on two charity event albums coming out next yr, did 24 tour dates this past summer, grossing over $25 mil from those, and has said she is working on new music for an album next yr. I swear, people pay no attention to the news, and just read tabloid BS.
