Lamar Odom traded to Dallas Mavericks, is Khloe Kardashian upset?

Lamar Odom is one of the bigger stars of the LA Lakers, correct? I don’t really know because I don’t follow any kind of sports activities, but I seem to remember that Lamar won an MVP at some point? Anyway, a few days ago, the Lakers’ management seemed to be trying to trade Lamar to any team that would take him. The rumor at first was that Lamar was going to the New Orleans Hornets, then that trade fell by the wayside, and then the Houston Rockets, but that fell away too, and now it’s looking like Lamar was traded to the Dallas Mavericks. Khloe and Lamar Take Dallas? Is it krazy that I think Khloe – and the whole Kardashian Klan – would do very well in Texas?

Khloe and Lamar are ready to mess with Texas. After a dramatic several days, basketball star Lamar Odom has been traded from the Los Angeles Lakers to the Dallas Mavericks, the LA Times’ Lakers Blog confirmed late Saturday.

Odom, 32, was initially set to be traded to the New Orleans Hornets as part of a nixed exchange of players between the Lakers, Hornets and the Houston Rockets.

Right now, it’s unclear exactly why Odom was ousted from the Lakers — sports blogs speculate that managers may have wanted to “dump” his costly $17 million salary and/or create opportunities to recruit other star players to the team.

Odom — who had skipped Lakers practice before the Dallas deal was announced — has remained quiet about the news, but his wife Khloe Kardashian took to Twitter late to grapple with their impending move to Texas.

“‘For I know the plans I have for u,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper u and not to harm u, plans to give u hope and a future.’ Jeremiah,” she wrote philosophically.

But the reality star, 27, also fought back against theories that her own celebrity somehow inspired the trade. “I am curious as to how I am the cause for any trade? LOL Some people just say anything behind their computer screens.”

“We are all sad,” she admitted to a follower, “but positive energy gets you farther then negative.”

She stayed optimistic about her move to the Lone Star state. “I am sure I will love it but I am a tad thrown off…I know for a fact blessings are everywhere!!! Everything happens for a reason. God is great.”

[From Us Weekly]

From what I know about Texas cities, I think Lamar and Khloe probably would have enjoyed Houston more? Austin would have been the preferred city, then Houston, and then maybe Dallas. Dallas – from my limited knowledge – is very old-money and oil-baron friendly? Or is that just the stereotype I have? You know who lives in Dallas now? George W. Bush. That’s where he and Laura have retired. Khloe and Lamar Take Bush Country? Still, I think Khloe would probably enjoy it if she gave the city a chance.

Dallas does have “old” money, but it is very much a beverly hills type area. A lot of plastic surgery, a lot of shopping, a lot of catty women (think southern beauty queens). I think the tranny klan will do well there!

Lamar is *definitely* one of the best players in the NBA. The guy is all heart, on the court and off.

I wish I could escape her family like she’s about to escape her family. Good luck in Texas, gurl.

I love how my fair city is getting shit on. As if all that lives here is tacky beauty pageant rejects and the idiots that support them.

Lamar and Khloe will be fine in Dallas.

What I am curious about, how the players will react to Lamar. Since Lamar made it a point to physically assault a couple of them last year on the court. And got to pay a few large fines over it.

Lamar did not show a lot of class on the court, when it came to playing against the Mavericks. He was a poorly behaved loser… every time.

I live in the Dallas area, and it is a great city. It’s progressive enough and not too stuffy. There’s plenty of shopping, great restaurants, and good night life. I don’t think they will hate it here.

Lamar Odom is one of the better players in the NBA, but not an MVP by any stretch. He also was a classless jerk in the playoffs last year. Additionally, on Sportscenter this morning his teammates were all coming out in support of him and upset that he had been traded, but there seemed to be an underlying thought that the reality show had something to do with the Lakers getting rid of him.

Way to go Khardashians…not exactly the midas touch anymore.

Agreed. It seems that some of the Laker hierarchy is pissed that Lamar did the show during the season. We all thought Klhoe would be bad luck for him & my oldest teen, a diehard Laker fan, says that the Lakers ’10 Championship was their “White Album” and that Khloe is the Lakers Yoko Ono!

All I can see about this story is that Kartrashiam bank account is getting smaller and I love it. From $17 to $8.9 million is a huge reduction. It is still a lot of money but about 50% less than before. And they are used to the luxurious life style. I hope Sears and other retailer drop them and I think I have the desire to see all Kardashians file for bankruptcy some day where we can see all their insane expenses and “charity donations”.

the way the kardashians have made money the last few years, i’m pretty sure khloe makes more than lamar, before or after the trade. they’re not going to be hurting anytime soon. especially khloe, who seems the most level headed of the family (and yes, i’m a fan of hers, basically because she tells the rest of the family to eff off).

    • mel says:

True, it’s a reduction, however $8.9 million is still alot to live on if you dont live beyond your means and from what Khloe said on her and Lamar’s reality show, she put a stop to his generosity of taking care of friends and family, so I will assume Khloe really watches the money in that household.

I think Lamar is good with money. Kris tried to show Khloe an even bigger house to buy and pushing Khloe to talk him into it. He said you never know what will happen careerwise and wanted to be smart on how much he payed. Khloe agreed and told mom to but out.

That is so uncool…. You didn’t have to wish the kardashian family go
bankrupt!!! They are just a family and an imperfect one at that. That is not to mean their viewers have not learnt few lessons from their reality show. Viewers only get to see what they feel would sell. And as for Khloe and Lamar, you don’t need to be upset about this two loving couples. She obviously stands up for her husband and that to me is a golden lesson that a lot of women out there should learn. I love them

I don’t think Lamar Odum was ever a starter for the Lakers but I could be wrong. I think he is the guy who can make big plays off the bench, but he is not a very consistent player. He will be hot one game and cold the next two. I love philosophical Khloe *eye roll.* I am sure she had her mother on the phone trying to work out some sort of deal with the NBA to keep Lamar in LA. “How are we going to film their show in Dallas? Don’t you dare mess with my franchise, NBA!” I am a real pessimist, but I have a sneaking suspension that this time next year, there will be lots of rumors of Lamar canoodling with Dallas babes and Khloe bar hopping and flirting it up in LA without her wedding ring on.

  17. lw says:

Lamar is a great player, but hardly in the top tier. And he never was an MVP. He got traded, in part, because he had a MASSIVE contract for someone who comes off the bench (which means that he is the 6th best player on the team).
And yes, I do believe that the reality show played a subtle part in the trade. The Lakers team is all about Kobe and has been for many years.
But the truth of the matter is that Lamar wanted to step out of Kobe’s shadow. Yessss, I believe he loves Khloe, but he also wanted to marry a famous woman. I remember hearing that he was dating and PROPOSED to Taraji Henson in the same “whirlwind” way. Taraji just didn’t take the bait. This was shortly before Khloe.
So he is definitely a famewhore too. It just pales in comparison with the rest of the K-fam.

I live in a town called WACO, not far from Dallas. So am a huge MAVS fan. It upset me to know that the K-DASH family might show their faces in Dallas. We all know they only care about themselves and how they can make money. They always look out for #1. So i hope they don’t trash Texas or trash talk about Texas. Bc are saying here is “DON’T MESS WITH TEXAS” so lets hope that the K-DASH family doesn’t give Texas a bad name. And keep Kim away from any Dallas cowboy players, she already try to get her hooks on one, but he got away. Lol!! Well who knows Kim might be the next Anna nicole and find a old rich oil tycoon and then she can stop trying to date the next big sports star. Who know we still have the Texas Rangers, Dallas stars…………..so all i can say is GO MAVS!!!!

I think it is a story because Khloe in her own special Kartrashian way is making this all about her misfortune and how she now has to think only positive thoughts as not to focus on the negative. She is “sad” and “thrown off,” (that Kris Jenner and Ryan Seacrest can’t strong arm the NBA).

  37. Oi says:

Yikes. Just what we here in Dallas need, more sports drama. I think much like Jessica simpson, and then Kim K when she dated Miles Austin, they might be in for a really rude awakening. first off, I bet she thinks that the Mavs are on the same popularity level as the Cowboys. Big No. We love them, but this is first and foremost a football town/state. football’s football. I don’t think she’ll have anywhere near the WAG status locally that she had in LA.

Second, our general population does not put up with celebs like they do in Ny or LA. And the fans can make life hell for her and Lamar if they don’t like them or want their famewhoring stopped. Dirk Nowitzki is our star thankyouvery much. Wonder how that will play out too. I think the most prudent thing to do would be to get a feel for the area first, but I doubt that will happen. How bad was this reality tv show if the LA Lakers didn’t want it? I think we should change the phrase to ‘don’t mess with Dallas sports”.

Well, I will always have my Rangers. The Halo’s just signed out biggest drama king as a free agent. (*tear* gonna miss ya CJ,you lovable douche you) Biggest celeb ever associated with them was Misty May Treanor. (and I doubt she’s a household name)

Not happy about the trade. But setting that aside, if we have to take a Kardashain (and what did we do wrong anyway?) then yeah…ok….gun to our head (and it is texas and it would take a gun)….we’ll take Khloe over our other choices.

I think most of the peeps here should actually KNOW something about Dallas (my city) before commenting on it. I live in the Uptown area, just blocks away from the AA Center where the Mavs play. It’s beautiful here and full of super high-end shopping, in fact, Highland Park which is literally 5 minutes from AA center is often called the “Beverly Hills”of Texas (Snooty enough that they would NEVER allow a Dash store there!). Lots of celebrities live here like Erykah Badu, Norah Jones, Luke and Owen Wilson grew up here/parents live here, Jonas Bros., Simpson’s grew up here, Angie Harmon, Chace Crawford, etc…

Celebrity sightings are common and most people around the area have enough dignity to not make a fuss, so the celebs who want upscale living w/o all the damn paparazzi usually love it here. I’ve seen Erykah B., Luke & Owen Wilson, Andre 3000 and Jessica S. w/ Tony Romo just shopping at NorthPark Mall and no one made a big deal. The only thing Khloe wouldn’t like is the lack of attention!!!
