Tom Cruise at the Madrid ‘MI4′ premiere: does he have the best plastic surgeon ever?

Tom Cruise and his CO$-endorsed Fountain of Youth have arrived in Madrid for the Spanish premiere of Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol. In the past week, we’ve already seen him in Dubai, Moscow, and Berlin; and surely at this point, even Paula Patton and Simon Pegg are wondering where Katie Holmes might be and why she’s not walking the red carpet to support her manic husband. Naturally, this is a very valid question; but I’m gonna cut Katie a break here and assume that, since it’s December, maybe she’s already fulfilled her quota of contractually required appearances for the year. As such, Katie’s probably lounging comfortably somewhere atop a recharging dock in preparation for whatever creepy public displays of affection that January might bring. After all, next year will be a busy one with Tom finishing up his sensitive portrayal of Jack Reacher in One Shot and also trying to get Top Gun 2 off the ground. Tom still says that sequel is gonna happen, but I think it ultimately depends on how well MI4 fares at the box office.

Can we talk about Paula’s dress though? Honestly, she’s a beautiful woman and a rising star, but this dress seems like she’s dressed up as a Kardashian for Halloween. As for Tom, well, he’s wearing his favorite faux-steel-toed lifts again. Very manly. Also, Kaiser thinks that Tom’s little leather coat makes him look like a child. I think it makes him look like he’s trying too hard to stay hip, which is par for the course.

Now for more about Tom’s miracle face. Kaiser, CB, and I were talking about how strange it is that Tom’s face looks really natural yet obviously refreshed in a cosmetic manner. Yet it’s really hard to pinpoint exactly what type of work that Tom’s had done because other aspects of his face (such as fine lines) have been strategically left “undone” to throw everyone off the scent of the surgical trail. If Tom had it his way, we’d all believe that his new face is merely the result of clean living and lots of vitamins. But we know better than that, right?

I seriously have never found him attractive but this new face is A-MAZ-ING.

He looks great… he looks (gulp) sexy.

His face should be a lesson to those Beverly Hills Housewives… look your age but look really good for your age. Well done Mystery Doctor!

There was a time when Tom tried serious ACTING instead of trying to desperately re-live his youthful action superstardom. At his age, all this action and dredging up past glory make him look pathetic and/or really hard up for money.
And at his age, the real military would not have him flying fighter jets anymore. He would be teaching new recruits; and I’ve a feeling that Tom won’t have many 18-year olds taking his screen time in TG2.

ETA: I LOVED “Minority Report”. It was a good story, and Tom played his age. I’m not a total Tom-hater, just he needs to be more realistic and look for more great scripts instead of more stunts.

@ahoyhoy…well said! I couldn’t agree more w/your thoughts…very succinctly put! You’ve somehow managed to verbalize what was in my mind, but I didn’t quite realize it…if you know what I mean. You’ve managed to aptly sum up his desperation in his latest films.

It seems to me that, usually, action stars ARE older. Yes, it is surprising, but think about it. Bruce Willis, Sylvester Stallone, Ah-nold, all did MAJOR action movie in their 40s and 50s. It seems that being a man’s man requires being over 35.

      @ahoyhoy
You wrote what I have thought for years: at one point it seemed he was going to be an artist, not just a movie star. When I saw Born On The Fourth of July I thought I was witnessing the beginning of a great career and I was looking forward to seeing what he would do. I have been sorely disappointed and have not been interested in his career for a long time. For a while I was even angry (especially after he took the role of Lestat; he should have known he was wrong for the role just as he is wrong for Jack Reacher). After a while my disappointment faded to don’t give a darn. Him being in a movie is not an incentive to me to see that movie, sometimes just the opposite, as when casting him is so completely wrong. I think it is somewhat disrespectful to the fans of a character to cast a movie star who does not suit the role. I won’t be seeing One Shot because I do like the Reacher character. Role should have gone to Kevin Durand.
Anyone else tired as hell of Tom Cruise as an action star? Enough already.

Tom Cruise, colors his gray hair, he gets mad if the color has any red tint to it. I notice in these photos, his hair color is definitely a reddish brown which means he would kick his colorist once he sees those photos. Tom’s jaw is way too off-center which is not very happy about but his dentist couldn’t do much about it.
Tom is a very nasty and arrogant man who always tries to look “cool” in public. Knowing him closely, I can attest that he is as violent as his best friend, the leader of the church of scientology (David Miscavige). We don’t see him and Katie with his kids, Connor and Bella, any more. Bella finally left Tom and moved in with her mom (Nicole Kidman) as soon as she turned 18.

    • fabgrrl says:

I agree. I wish their wasn’t such a stigma against cosmetic enhancements. I think that it would be much nicer to hear celebrities own up to the work they have done instead of claiming it is all diet, exercise, vitamins, clean living, meditation, good genes, happiness, whatever. Don’t get me wrong, all of those things are great. But its disingenuous when they act like that’s all there is to their great looks.

That’s a classic trick to throw you off the scent of getting work done. No he has definitely done something. My aunt who is not at all following celebrity gossip immediately commented when he appeared on letterman. When they played a clip from the movie you could see the difference. Bags under the eyes -skin a little loose. He’s been tightened up or injected. And it’s pretty amazingly well done. He looks 10 years younger easily.

I have never found Tom Cruise attractive, but he’s looking really good lately! I don’t think he’s had work done as he has a fair amount of wrinkles. I do think he’s invested in some killer facial treatments like chemicals peels or laser. Maybe a little makeup too.. The hair makes all the difference, it’s a boyish style and certainly makes him look more boyish.

    How old is he anyway?

I am still upset about Jack Reacher – but that is life.

I will admit that Tom does pick movies with a good story – I dont think he does a movie just to do it and stay in the public mind. Thinking back over his movies, he does have some decent ones.

I agree about the decent short haircut which greatly helps him out and makes him look younger, clean and manly (are you listening Mr. Pitt!) ha ha

Perhaps some lower lid blepharoplasty and probably botox and some strategic fillers… but mostly his skin just looks very firm and doesn’t have any extra fat accumulation that most of us get in certain areas of the face. He does look like he is about to fall over. He almost wore high heels in Interview with the Vampire so Pitt would not tower over him. He is a throw back to the fifties and the smaller actors like Alan Ladd who had actresses walk in troughs to make him look taller (he did that to the actress in Shane) or worked with petite actresses-Veronica Lake was tiny.

One of the many things I admire about Daniel Radcliffe is that he is short and owns it, so does Al Pacino. Simon Pegg is also small in stature and does not seem to have a problem.

You are talking about him like he is in his 149′s! He is only 49! Is it a crime to have a good genes and look younger at that age?! Besides I imagine that he takes care of himself the way most of us never will or be able to afford.

    • Funnylilou says:

you can keep energy and having some good genes helps you but to have a smooth skin with good elasticity and clear complexion like this you might need an extra help at that age.

I think he did more natural procedures like mesolift (micro injections of vitamins and light filler to boost the skin) thermage (it’s a quite natural lifting using a laser and it is very impressive as it regenerate the skin without any marks) radiofrequence ( ultrasounds that stimulate collagene and force the skin to improve increasingly its elastin production) , these procedures do not need injections but give impressive results if you want a natural look (keeping lines)… and these are incredibly expensive!

@Matt: at 49 you are a certain age, you are leaving quitly the “middle-age” territory to just be ageing, so of course no good genes can give you this at that age

this may sound dumb, but is it possible it’s the haircut? He’s been wearing that long shaggy hair and that might’ve made his face look longer/wider. The first thing I thought when I saw these pics was, He looks like he did in Top Gun! but part of that is bc he’s got the top gun haircut.

I agree it is mostly the hair that is making him look younger. If you see his eyes, they are natural, with wrinkles and saggier eyelids. I think he looks fantastic for his age and I hope he doesn’t tinker with bad plastic surgery. Keep on aging gracefully Tom!

  45. LeeLoo says:

Here are my 2 theories in regards to Tom:

    1) He had his face strategically botoxed in the proper areas (forehead, cheeks, chin, temples).

    2) I think this one is the more viable. I think he had a vi peel. A vi peel is a heavy duty chemical peel that leaves the patient looking very refreshed but still natural. There is very little down time but it takes 3 weeks to see the full effects. Since he still has plenty of lines that are not botoxed out I think we’re looking at a heavy chemical peel. Compared to many celebrities, that’s nothing.

He needs to learn to channel his inner shortness. Napoleon was short and look at what he accomplished without lifts.

  47. LibsW says:

I’ve just seen the scar too – could he be trying to cover it up with that Captain Haddock style jumper (maybe as a nod to Simon Pegg?!)?

I’d say a face lift too – I think the earlobes may give it away – either that or he’s got some old man ears thing going on. I’m not sure why but his nose also looks a little thinner too – if you see the pics from when he was promoting MI2 it looked a bit wider.

I wonder wonder when Katie buys new heels if he’s the one that breaks them in…

  48. Lady Satan says:

I’m going to vote for peel.

I’m thinking too it could be the result of better diet/weight loss. He seems to be a lot leaner now and that could account for the younger look – he seems to have lost some of that puffy look he had for a while there.
