Jonah Hill: The Kardashians are “a super disgusting part of our culture”

Jonah Hill is had a particularly good year. Not only did he maintain his credibility as one of the brightest young comic actors in Hollywood, he also turned in a critically-acclaimed, understated, lovely, dramatic performance in Moneyball, and he was just nominated for a SAG Award for Best Supporting Actor for that film. Well deserved! I wouldn’t be surprised if he got an Oscar nomination too, not that he would win, but I would enjoy seeing him at all of the awards shows. In addition to his professional achievements, Jonah also lost a great deal of weight over the past two years, which I’m sure has improved his health, and he looks great. So what is Jonah doing with all of the Hollywood and karmic equity he’s stored up? He’s bashing the Kardashians. Kind of like Daniel Craig, only Jonah’s criticism is much more on-point, I think.

Actor Jonah Hill is angry about the success of the Kardashian family’s reality TV shows. Last month, Daniel Craig, 43, ranted that the clan act like ‘f***ing idiots’ for money, and now the Moneyball actor has shared his take on their growing media empire.

Hill said that while he often finds himself watching one of their shows, he finds it ‘disgusting’ that they earn better ratings than higher quality scripted shows.

The 27-year-old said: ‘The truth of it is, I have friends who work in TV and the Kardashians get higher ratings than their TV shows. Shows that people actually work hard on – writing and creating and trying to tell stories. The fact that the Kardashians could be more popular than a show like Mad Men is disgusting.’

‘It’s a super disgusting part of our culture, but I still find it funny to make a joke about it. Whenever I say I like reality TV, people write about it like they’re in shock. I can’t even understand it, so I watch it,’ he told The Huffington Post.

‘I think it’s funny and I definitely enjoy it in a making-fun-of-it sort of way, but where does the line sort of end? When do I stop making fun of it and become an actual fan?’

But the star doesn’t put all the blame on Kourtney, 32, Kim, 31, and 27-year-old Khloe.

He added: ‘The Kardashians are as famous as our president. What does that tell you about how skewed our society is?’

[From The Mail]

Wow… Jonah Hill is better at criticizing the Kardashian phenomenon than Daniel Craig. Jonah’s point is much better – he’s leveling the bulk of the criticism on US, for watching the Kardashian shows, for putting a higher value on reality programming than on actual creative, scripted television. I also like that he even admits that he watches it – but it’s like he’s watching as an anthropologist, like he can’t even believe what he’s seeing. Sigh… I like Jonah so much. And it is disgusting that Mad Men will never be as popular as a Kardashian show.

I can’t wait for Kris Jenner to come out and say that Jonah Hill isn’t a man and that he should apologize.

STFU you was fat and funny now you are thin and bitchy. Leave them alone. They are giving us a lot of entertainment.

    • Sam says:

      Kris Jenner, is that you?

    • sasha says:

Jonah is talking about illiterate people like you who like these trash shows. Entertainment – thats what you americans live for these days. Cheap entertainment, thats all which doesn’t require you to use your mind. Get some class !

      • WillyNilly says:

Trying not to attack you for the blatantly hypocritical comment you just posted on a GOSSIP WEBSITE. Ahem. Carry on.

      • Bad Fairy says:

Ummm… I don’t know where your from but how about some manners? What do people say when Americans say ignorant things like you just did? PS. Am from U.S and have never seen one episode of that show. Should I bash all people from whatever country your from and say they’re all rude?

      • sandy says:

Blame the U.S. Public School system for lowering the standards of education! Lower standards means an inability to reason and understand the concepts of in-depth shows vs The Kardashians show which is on a grade level of 2. America’s priorities are jacked up! Those running this country are only serving the best interests of those on the top of this profoundly unjust class system while the majority which includes the rest of us are left to rot and struggle, and be content with easy to understand concepts. Ugh! Let’s boycott these stupid reality shows! It’s a start!

      • Thea says:

And yet here you are “preaching” on a celebrity gossip site. NEXT.

      • paranormalgirl says:

sasha, before you call other people illiterate, you might want to proof read your post as it contains several grammar and punctuation errors.

      • Flan says:

It would be nice if there were more documentaries on tv, but there are good series being broadcast right now as well.

    • oh dear says:

thats the point, its all about superficial entertainment whilst the country is going down down down… oh well, at least youll be able to tell your grandchildren about that time when you shouldve fought for your rights but instead you were watching the kartrashians. theyll love it im sure! 🙂

      • EBitch says:

You “was” fat and funny? See, watching the Kardashian’s instead of finishing school could have really helped with your grammar. And they are giving us a lot of entertainment? I’d rather sit and stare at my wall than watch those cows. It makes me laugh, cry, and sometimes it even talks back.

      • Kyle says:

        @EBitch

You are right my bad “you were”. But I guess you got my point of view despite bad grammar. Second thing you have to spend a lot of time sitting ans staring at your wall and I have a news for you – you are in minority. Have you seen their ratings?

    • Lady D says:

Ratings say 3 million of you watch that show. There are 300 million of you in the States. Approximately 1% of your country watches. Yes I’ve seen the ratings, but I have never and will never watch their shows.

      • Magye says:

        Amen!

      • bluhare says:

        That’s a 1% I’m proud to be a member of.

      • Bad Fairy says:

And yet everyone STILL wants to live here… Even though were all so trashy. Hmmm….

      • Flan says:

Dream on, Bad Fairy. Many Europeans and Asians like to stay right where they are.

Also, many Asians who used to seek an English education for their children in the US are now shifting to Canada, because the US is ’too dangerous’ or ’Canadians are more friendly’.

    • gg says:

SPEAK FOR YOURSELF! I don’t watch this crap. The mere sound of Kim’s voice is enough to turn off the most avid reality watcher. These people (the Kards) are NOT “real”, they are phoney.

      • anonymoose says:

Yes, the sound of her voice is repulsive. Any commercial she speaks in gets the “mute” button treatment. And I will NOT patronize a business that any Karfraudian endorses. Hear that, advertisers? Stop giving these toxic fraudulent unbalanced morally corrupt embarrassments to our country your money and attention. Basta!

  2. WillyNilly says:

I loathe what they stand for but all this piling onto the K family by celebrities is getting tired.

Besides…like this kid is known for his intelligent comedy? Bitch, please.

    • Tapioca says:

I thought Kim Kardashian’s “I married for love!” divorce statement was far more hilarious than anything I’ve ever seen this guy in.

Jonah should remember that the culture that feeds the Kardashians is the exact same one that pays him a hugely disproportionate amount of money to be unfunny. Hard work has nothing to do with it or he’d be on less than a nurse or a front-line soldier.

I guess he’s bitter that they clear $60 mil an year and he can’t open a movie, fat or skinny. It’s a popularity contest dude, and you lost – deal with it.

Plus shooting fish in a barrel is so lazy – at least Megan Fox went for a target that could actually fire her ass!

    • Lisa1 says:

He may not be funny, but his claim to fame wasn’t a sex tape. He actually used his talent to get to where he is today even if it’s the D-List.

      • WillyNilly says:

        You have a valid point.

      • Callumna says:

For real. And the Kartrash clan will be in Paris Hilton territory soon enough.

        All bad fads do end.

But Kartrashes will be on film sucking peen forever. They’ll always be the dirty talentless ho’s that were popular for five minutes because one sucked peen, stuck her butt in our face, and then became too annoying for words. The end.

      • Lizzie says:

Well considering he is in A list movies, and just got both a SAG and Golden Globe nomination for his performance in a drama,(which he was excellent in by the way) I don’t really think he can be considered D-list.

    • emma1978 says:

Jonah Hill may play “stoners” sometimes and his comedy may not be highbrow, but don’t try to say he’s on par with idiot reality stars because of that. Whether you like his movies or not, he’s definitely someone who has worked hard at something he’s passionate about and has put a lot of heart into his career. He seems like a very intelligent guy. I think his comments are spot on.

People don’t seem to realize that there’s a difference between entertainment that’s lowbrow or raunchy in a self-aware way (like many of Jonah’s comedies) and entertainment that’s just devoid of any kind of thought or awareness at all (Kardashians & many other reality shows). Similarly, just because this is a “gossip site” doesn’t mean the authors and commenters can’t have serious opinions — the tagline is “escapism can be smart” and I think the point of the site is to put a thoughtful spin on pop culture.

    • autumndaze says:

Good grief. The Kardashian PR team is out in force today…

  3. mln76 says:

He puts it well and he’s right it’s disgusting that so many in our culture value the Kartrashians over quality.

    • Veruca says:

Wow. I think he’s one of the biggest hypocrites I’ve ever seen.

We shouldn’t watch the show (which I don’t) because it lacks quality (which is true), but he watches it out of fascination? What? I call Bull Shit!

At least Craig didn’t talk out of both sides of his face (and what a pretty face it is).

You don’t get to have it both ways, Jonah. You’re as bad as the politicians who bash gays & then get busted boinking the pool boy.

  4. Zay says:

Please 2012 come upon us and take the Kunts with ya

    • Happy21 says:

I’m just hoping the Kardashian Klan is all together for Khristmas and that a meteor drops out of the sky right on their mansion and blows them all to pieces. Then they’ll be off TV and out of the tabs and everywhere you look.

I wonder if its too late for me to ask Santa for this?

      • Zay says:

The day that happens, even I will watch their show 😀 ofcourse they are going to televise their deaths, right?

  5. brin says:

I totally agree with him, but you know he’s bringing more attention to those famewhores just by bringing them up.

    • Sakyiwaa says:

You are so right. I so agree. Popularity does just thrive on fame. it thrives on infamy too…

What part of the Kardashian life is it exactly that people want?

    • Eve says:

      That’s exactly what I thought.

I know it’s really hard but the best thing to do — in order to make them go away — is to simply ignore them. Calling them out on their famewhorish ways (easiest thing to do on earth), saying they’re worthless (anyone who is worth something would think that) or even making jokes about them (also really easy to do) mean acknowledgement of their existence. And *THAT’S* what they want considering they have no discerning talent: they’re famous for and make money out of…existing.

      • irishserra says:

Absolutely agree with you, Eve. I really try not to comment, but my ire gets the better of me.

People are losing homes, jobs, struggling to raise their families the best way they can; and the front Yahoo page this a.m. when I logged on featured Barbara Walters’ interview with the Kardashian family. Really? REALLY?!

The train wreck will only get cleaned up if the rubberneckers keep moving; yet, therein lies the problem.

      • Eve says:

        @ Irishserra:

I understand you completely. And that’s why it’s a struggle: it’s really infuriating that they make loads of money for doing basically nothing in times where other people are losing their jobs — and we want to express that anger. At the same time, we know that by talking about them we give them the attention they’ve been seeking all along…

Believe me, I understand what you feel perfectly. But in their case, I try my best to ignore them (since Celebitchy can’t — as a website they have to post what’s popular): I don’t even watch the commercials for their “reality” shows (I watch E! sometimes for Behind The Scenes and The Soup) and here I rarely comment on them or even click on their posts. It’s hard but it’s possible. And if you look closely — besides the fact that it pisses people off that they make so much money — there’s absolutely nothing interesting to talk about them.

    • normades says:

This is why I try to NEVER comment on a KK post. But since this is a post commenting on the sad state of the KK, it’s OK right?

      • Eve says:

Me too. And I certainly hope that commenting on Jonah Hill’s quotes (about them) doesn’t count.

By the way, I meant “anyone who is worth anything at all” (wasn’t allowed to edit anymore).

    • MellaYella says:

      AMEN!

  6. Eleonor says:

Bashing the Kardashian is the new thing in Hollywood?

    • WillyNilly says:

Yup. Sad day, isn’t it? Like there aren’t enough topics of substance (NDAA, the economy, the Greek riots, Ali Lohan’s weight loss 😉 ) to talk about, they have to discuss the K family. I understand that they’re just being asked by reporters but can’t they just as easily turn the conversation in another direction?

    • Kelly says:

What? They’re bashed on this site ALL THE TIME, LOL. Kardashian posts get a huge number of comments, 98% of which are scathing!

  7. Girl says:

I agree with him. He’s right. But I do not watch the shows. The most I contribute is watching The Soup (if that can be considered a contribution) and reading sites like this one.

    • Faye says:

Same here. But when I stop and think about it, I’m sort of astonished at how much I know about them just from this site.

  8. Dea says:

Good point!! Some say people are bringing more attention to them but this is too negative attention and much needed. This is sending a message to E channel and big media empires and not their stupid fans. Stupid cannot be fixed but we hope people running media empires will come into senses and use logic otherwise they will loose their credibility completely.

    • Princess Charming says:

Um sorry, the fans will win. E! is only interested in the money they’re making, not the outrage of nonfans. So, blame it on the people who consume this TV fare, because without THEM it wouldn’t exist. If the fanbase/viewership declines, E! will be more than ready to change their program lineup.
I think the current Kardiashian bashing bandwagon is already tiresome and is bringing them an extra amount of notoriety. Add to that, Hill admitted he watches it. So, what are you gonna do? People who DESPISE them will even watch it. Why would E! get rid of them now?

  9. Sakyiwaa says:

I think we should all give it up… REALITY TV is the entertainment du jour! i think it’s here to stay forever and as time goes on… people are gonna DO even more bizarro stuff to be reality stars… (*shudders)

    • irishserra says:

That’s sad, isn’t it? With so much turmoil going on in the world and even in our own lives in some cases, many still turn to reality to escape? It’s as if by comparing their own lives to the disaster of others’ they feel better. So silly.

Give me a too-good-to-be-true fantasy to escape into any day. Or better yet, a sincere underdog-comes-out-on-top story.

  10. Quest says:

I agree with him 100% – I wonder how long it will take Kris Jenner to jump on this boat for an apology.

PS @ Kris Jenner: Haiti already have enough garbage to deal with and don’t need your disgusting crap in Haiti.

    • brin says:

Yeah, that was just a pr move for them.

    • kas says:

Did you see the pictures of her and her Mom there?? Dressed to the nines (thigh high boots?!!) Maria Bello was there in a picture, dressed like a normal person- bless her. Poor thing had to pose with those a-holes.

      • lucy2 says:

And Maria Bello has been involved and helping there for years, without all the fanfare. The K’s are disgusting, using a real human tragedy to try to improve their PR.

  11. hateonit. says:

he’s right. and Kyle, you are wrong. they bring pointless enteratainment for the sad people that like things like that. I personally can not stand them. they’ve made millions maybe billions over the years. when exactly did you see anything about them donating it? or doing charity work or helping out their “fans” in any way? now Kim is going to Haiti. why? because she wants to make herself look better after everyone realized she’s a fake money hungry whore. but sure…Jonas is just being thin and bitchy -___- riiiight.

  12. truthSF says:

I’m loving woody Harelson? promoting his movie while announcing the nominees for the GG. And congrats to Michael Fassbender for his Shame nomination.

  13. Dhavy says:

    Truth hurts doesn’t it?
Only an idiot will prove his point even more about how stupid our society is by insulting him.
The man is right, you can dislike him or his work but we need to admit how most people would rather watch a famewhore with an IQ of a 12 yr old than something that would require actual thinking

  14. NO SH¡T says:

I can write a ten page essay on how I think their show is mind numbing.

It will change the fact that as long as people keep watching them they are not going away.

  15. Victoria says:

I don’t even own cable anymore. The majority of it is rubbish and the shows I like I purchase in seasons and watch online. Right now, my favorite show is Parenthood. That show is so underrated. By the end of almost every episode, I am crying because the writing, performances. are so realistic and beautifully done. I love it so much.

The fact that a reality show like KUWTK is more popular than quality scripted television is insane. If it’s good creative show like Project Runway that at least promotes creativity in arts and fashion, then okay, but watching skanks do absolutely nothing of importance is stupid.

And non Americans can get off their high horse because most of the shows that are reality were first done in Europe first. How many countries have a version of Idol, or The Voice which is originally a Dutch program? Stop acting as if the majority of your population feasts on wine and La Traviata when Beyonce, BEYONCE, was just at Glastonbury and all those sheep thought she was the epitome of cultura; sophistication. Puhlease.

    • Alarmjaguar says:

You’ve reminded me that I keep meaning to watch Parenthood. I hear such good things. And I’d put in a plug for Madmen and Community! Such amazing shows, well-acted, well-written, save them by watching, people!

    • Coucou says:

Amen sister for the high horse critique, i get so sick of people blaming everything that’s bad in the world on the US, the last time i checked, gossip and voyeurism did not have a nationality. It’s human nature, you know, like staring at a car wreck when you’re slowly driving by…you try not to look, but it’s over powering, and you look, for damage, for blood, for action. However, after seeing thousands of reality tv “car wrecks” on a daily basis, you’d think we as a global society would say enough is enough and turn that proverbial blind eye. I’m sure the K’s are aware that they are being gutted in the tabs on a regular basis, but the ratings! The f’n ratings are begging for more and pouring money into their bank accounts…religion used to be the opiate of the masses, but now, it’s plain to see that TV has taken over as the new drug. Abstinence is the only cure. However, i live in France, so my abstinence is forced…thank God! They have reality TV here, too, by the way, “Sasha.”

  16. Franny says:

ughhhh is it time for mad men to start yet?! anyone know the date for the season premier?

  17. Princess Charming says:

Um sorry, the fans will win. E! is only interested in the money they’re making, not the outrage of nonfans. So, blame it on the people who consume this TV fare, because without THEM it wouldn’t exist. If the fanbase/viewership declines, E! will be more than ready to change their program lineup.

It’s a pretty pitiful and embarrassing commentary on the mindset of our society.

  18. Ari says:

I am very happy to see he has gained a bit of weight back. He looked awful completely thin. Its just not his body type. I agree with him but I also agree with the poster who stated that this guy hasn’t really done like any deep insightful stuff until MoneyBall so lets get real here. He is a comedic actor for crying out loud.

  19. Susan says:

Actually this man is only following the hollywood trend now – it is the thing to do to bash these people. Makes you look like you are somone if you thinlk that the Kardiashians are pathetic or beneath you. Of he actually had some class he would not even mention them. I personally have never watched the show and don’t find them to be a problem. The problem is not the kardiashians the problem is people like Jonah who watch it and then talk about it. Don’t watch. But to watch and then say how disgusting it is only makes you look bad.

  20. Dawn says:

Thank you Jonah. Right is right and you are right. And I don’t give a flying fig what their ratings are; there is simply no accounting for stupid. And another thing, who in their right mind would emulate this pile of trash or allow their young daughters to look up to Kim. A girl who got famous for a very disgusting sex tape? Don’t tell me Americans are not stuck on stupid, the fact that these people are millionaires is just more proof.

  21. PyCaramel says:

I agree with him and all but the fact that me’s mentioning them at all is a sign that they’re still relevant and still matter. As long as somebody’s got your name in their mouth, you’re doing something right.

  22. Sara says:

Ok I agree with what he said but Jonah’s show ‘Allen Gregory’ is just as disgusting. I watch about 1/2 of one episode once and after the 8 year old called his teacher a whore for the billionth time I shut it off. It seemed like misogynistic crap to me.

  23. Pauline Bernoski says:

They are disgusting, the whole fucking family! He is right!!

  24. layla says:

While I think the Kardashians are trash (and haven never watched an episode)…… bad mouthing them in one breath, then saying, Yeah I watch reality tv, achieves what exactly? (other than contributing to the problem itself)

    • Veruca says:

Thank you! That was the point I was trying to make, as well. You said it better.

To me, it’s no different than someone saying, “Heroin is really bad for you” while they’re shooting themselves up for ‘research’.

  25. Bubulle says:

All this celebs shouldn’t even acknowledge this waste of time of a family, it only attracts publicity for their stupid show which is exactely what they want.

  26. whatevs says:

    well duh no kidding.

  27. LeeLoo says:

The anthropologist part of me gets what he’s saying. But at the same time I feel like it is a lot of people like Jonah who contribute to the Kardashian’s success. For the most part, I feel like they are better off being ignored.

Has anyone noticed this is the exact same cycle Paris Hilton went through? Everyone started bashing her then she disappears and her shows are cancelled and her endorsement deals fall through. By this time next year Kim and her family’s time will be up.

  28. boo says:

What I can’t understand is why Barbara Walters has the Kartrashians as one of 10 most “fascinating” people. Really? Fascinating? How about trashy. I think Baba Wawa is really getting senile if she thinks they are fascinating. All in all anyone that trashes those ugly cows is ok with me, I don’t watch either but they are everywhere and that bothers me, it’s like they’ve infiltrated every piece of air space available with their crass commercialism.

    • Dawn says:

Barbara Walters missed the mark, what is fascinating is that they have fans, true fans. She should have talked to a few of them to see just what they find interesting about them. And ask them if they believe this is real or just a badly acted reality show which I believe it is. And IF we want them to go away we the public MUST stop watching any show that they are in, we MUST stop buying any magazines that feature them, especially if they are on the cover and we MUST stop buying the junk they promote. It is the one and only way to get rid of them. Someone once said that anyone who is a fan of the Kardashian klan should be made to sit down and watch Kim’s unedited sex tape and then must explain after the viewing why they emulate her and her trash family. And I agree whole heartily with that.

  29. Anastasia says:

I don’t watch the show because I cannot abide their stupid fake whiny baby voices and bitching about the STUPIDEST stuff ever and making up fake drama. I saw about 20 minutes of one episode and wanted to scoop my eyeballs out with a grapefruit spoon and shove screwdrivers in my ears.

They are idiots. Jonah was restrained in his criticism.

  30. k says:

I am having trouble with the reply feature, so …

Dear Bad Fairy, who called someone else’s comment “ignorant”:

    “your” is possessive

“you’re” is a contraction of “you are”

  31. meta says:

I agree with him completely. its pointless voyeuristic television. Not remotely interesting or entertaining. Reminds me of the Public Enemy song She Watch Channel Zero.

  32. Enny says:

Eh, Allen Gregory isn’t exactly a cultural improvement.

  33. DarkEmpress says:

I agree with him. People need to stop watching their show. It is amazing to me that in spite of the backlash about kim’s fake marriage that they still have a huge audience. Well, maybe people will at least stop buying their Krap that they hawk at every opportunity.

  34. Julie says:

At the risk of sounding completely closed minded, I cannot for the life of me figure out why pp watch this shit. In my own probably silly way of boycotting, I will never open another post about these folks unless it is reporting their complete demise. I do think it speaks volumes about our culture.

  35. Julie says:

p.s. Just thought of something pretty hypocritical. Speaking about so many watching the K’s saying alot about our culture as if I’m above it while I’m spending time reading celeb blogs. Pretty not funny 🙂

  36. lucy2 says:

“The fact that the Kardashians could be more popular than a show like Mad Men is disgusting.”
    Amen.

  37. Sloane Wyatt says:

I’ve never watched this krap and never will.

  38. Jonah deserves an Oscar for best viewpoint…

  39. Nev says:

    okay Mr. Hill, calm down.

    he got skinny and mean.

  40. skuddles says:

Too funny how everyone keeps shitting on the Kardashians! And not just literally a la Kim’s human toilet porno. They need to get this garbage off the air already.

  41. Kim says:

I cant stand tha Kartrashians but he is right that the people that watch their shows & support them are to blame not the Kardashians themselves. They are truly pathetic but they didnt make themselves rich.

It is sad & scary kids know more about the Kardashians than about their own president/country. I think parents need to step up and ban these reality shows and not watch them themselves (making their kids think they are worthy of being watched) or allow their kids to watch them.

I do think people are finally turning away from these reality shows and are over them. Their ratings are going down compared to past yrs and people seem to generally be over them thank goodness.

  42. Jenny says:

I will say the same thing here I said about Craig. Stop giving these people the spotlight. Luckily, he is not as famous as Craig, so it won’t get as much press, but the same thing holds. The same with Barbara Walters, who interviews them and in the next breathe says they can’t be trusted.

The constant bashing is bordering on creating sympathy, only bordering, but it is getting old.

  43. RobN says:

He’s got a lot to say for a guy who’s made a career out of Judd Apatow movies.

    Pot meet kettle.

Wow really? Why the diss on Apatow? Have you seen Freaks & Geeks? Knocked Up, Forgetting Sarah Marshall and the 40-year-Old Virgin were all decent comedies in the sea of unbearable-to-awful comedic movies that have been released in the past 10 years. Apatow is a very talented guy, IMO and Freaks & Geeks was a smart, funny, sweet and well-written show.

    • BooBooKitty says:

At least they’re original content, unlike most of the shit being pumped out of Hollywood at the moment.

  44. Jover says:

He’s right and you’ve raised good points Victoria; has anyone actually watched oh say Italian tv hardly Macbeth; and boo I’m wondering also whether baba wawa is just stupid senile and so up junk “celebrities'” butts that she can no longer relate to real people. She inhabits the same idiotic world of the Lardassians.

  45. ANA says:

I’m am so happy someone in Hollywood is speaking up about this. He’s got a good point. Talent should be appreciated; the Kardashians (and any other reality TV star) have demonstrated no talents. Our society is obsessed with the “private” (though most likely SCRIPTED) lives of these pseudo-celebrities and sex tape stars for some strange reason. We’re our own poison.

  46. TheOriginalKitten says:

Jonah Hill is actually a pretty talented dude. He went to the prestigious New School and wrote and acted in his own plays all throughout college. I’m just saying-he’s not just some slap-stick hack.
And I don’t think you can blame JUST the Kardashians or JUST their audience. Much like the hooker/john conundrum, it takes both.

  47. Nanz says:

With all the Kardashian wedding fallout drama, I wonder if Clint Easteood is regretting his decision to allow his family members to be taped for a reality program. I think it’s a really poor decision on his part. Of course, people would never say derogatory stuff about Eastwood, but reality television as a whole is not respected in Hollyeood. What was he thinking?!

  48. NM9005 says:

He should have a chat with Daniel Craig because that is how you form a good opinion + I respect Hill as an actor too, probably more than Craig…

  49. sandy says:

seriously, i have never saw that show and never will, along with many other reality shows, as well as most tv shows, that includes comedy, drama, etc. but that’s just me, not judging any one else. i love other forms of celebrity news, but please do away with these k people.

  50. lrm says:

Actually, Courtney Love is a super disgusting part of our culture—-too…so many people/things are. and every culture/country has ‘super disgusting’ parts of it.
super disgusting-what, is jonah hill in high school? pretty much-that’s his type of ‘acting’ anyway….a pinnacle of thespian quality right there.

whatever-also someone who has never seen this kardashian stuff-and i dont own a t.v.
so whatever….it’s all lame, reality or not.
but seriously-courtney love? those posts repulse me and make me shudder, just seeing the header photo and title. i cannot even read or see anything about her. blech….yea, i know ‘Hole’ and all….again, whatever….

  51. pam says:

Go to this website if you want to try to get their show off air, its called GoPetition.com. I’ve already signed it.

  52. EmmaStoneWannabe says:

Um ok. You know what? His “humor” is “a super disgusting part of our culture.”

  53. sm225 says:

…here’s a better question: why is everyone so invested in intensely hating people they don’t even know?

  54. Geneveve says:

I can’t even watch the Kardashian’s to make fun of them, they make me too angry & sick to watch. And I don’t have the time to waste on them.

    • anonymoose says:

      Ah! The voice of reason.
But apparently the sound of even one person clapping for Karfraudians is louder than the silence of the rest of us who deliberately do NOT give them our attention. How dismally discouraging. I’ve boycotted them from Day 1 to no avail. A LOT OF SOMEONES ARE PAYING ATTENTION to them, and I wish they would stop.

  55. Jo 'Mama' Besser says:

I don’t know what’s worse, watching these shows, or constantly demanding a gold medal for the truly groundbreaking, soulful and thankless vocation of not watching the frigging TV shows. It’s a franchise on one channel, not total war. It reminds me of the episode of The Simpsons when Bart works at the burlesque house and when spotted there by Skinner, a concerned mob marched over to his house with the story on their tongues and Skinner makes it known to all and sundry that he was only there to directions on how to get of there. I mean, sorry, but what a palaver with the self-hagiography. These shows aren’t good, but I suspect that if they weren’t on the air, conversation would finally and permanently to Bach’s 80th cantata. Watching this may not be the best way to spend your time, but avoiding it doesn’t strike me as God’s work. Casting the viewers into Hell, I just can’t care that much. I don’t see a situation in which someone would written on their gravestone ‘I Went At To The E! Network Kardarshian Pap Smear Supreme Launch Party And All I Got Were These Lousy Lesions’. Sometimes it seems that the worst crime of this clan (and there are many) is spawning a new superrace of circle-jerking patricians. Watch it, don’t watch it–whatever. Just please turn the speakers down.

    • Coucou says:

Go tell it on the mountain, Mama Besser, amen! We love to bitch, that’s why we’re here, but bitching about bitches who are just doing what brings in the cash, well, it’s getting old. Even if they wanted to come clean and redeem themselves in some way, it would be confusing for them, they see high ratings and high paychecks, and only hear our rumblings from afar, so what makes more sense? Keep “working,” yep, they probably consider what they are doing as just part of their career. What we, the disgruntled public, need to realize is that hating them is the same as loving them in terms of ratings and cash flow. Only indifference will make a difference, eg., make them disappear. Economics baby, supply and demand. I’m seriously considering reading a book, or maybe starting exercising again…the TV is a veritable brain sucker!

  56. womanfromthenorth says:

What will he say to Ryan S in the Oscar red carpet. lol

  57. Andrea says:

Didn’t Jonah Hill also create that Allan Gregory show? That show is terrible and not funny.

  58. Brenda says:

Did anybody see the Barbara Special? I loved how she she straight up told them that they have no talent and all they could do was blink. You could see in their faces they weren’t expecting it at all. I have to say my favorite part was when she told Kim that she became famous because of her sex tape. You could see Kim was really taken back, all she could do was blink and look stupidly at Barbara like “I can’t believe you said that, I’m famous because…um….”. But really did they expect for Barbara to say Kim became famous because of her amazing sing talent? Uh no. And if they really know that they have NO talent, then why is Kim in the new Tyler Perry movie? Ugh with these people!!!

    • anonymoose says:

YES! And then Kim said something she was “most proudest” about.

      “MOST PROUDEST”!

Clearly she was too busy looking at herself in the mirror to go to school….

      • Coucou says:

Most proudest? Ohhh man, i am working on that now with my 12 year old…geez, she must’ve skipped that day in English class to go rip off make up testers at the mall.

  59. Catherine says:

I hate the Kardashian shows that are on, but celebrities to publicly trash them like Jonah Hill and Daniel Craig just makes these two look like ignorant fools like the Kardashians.

  60. amc says:

I think I will stick with my forensics reality ….at least it’s interesting and real. Just saying …

  61. GoodCapon says:

I don’t like the Kardashians one bit, but just because this guy won a few awards he suddenly thinks he’s ‘something’ and is therefore qualified to voice out his opinions.

    • Sarah says:

Got to laugh at all the people saying Jonah Hill and Daniel Craig are up themselves just because they dared to voice their opinion. It’s not as if they’re bashing one of their peers, what Daniel and Jonah say about these leeches is 100% true and no worse than what is written on the net every day. You’re on a site called celebitchy, get off the moral highground.

  62. GoodCapon says:

I don’t like the Kardashians one bit, but just because this guy won a few awards he suddenly thinks he’s ‘something’ and is therefore qualified to voice out his opinions

  63. laura says:

I love Jonah even more now. He’s nowhere near D list, he’s very talented and intelligent and has a great future in films ahead of him….in short, he rocks and he’s right on about reality tv.

  64. flamingo says:

Anyone else notice pictures from Kim’s Thanksgiving photoshoot masquerading as charity? Full make-up, constant mouth open in fake surprise, posing more than serving. The few pictures Kim didn’t manage to shove Jennifer Love Hewett out of showed JLH in a hairnet, clean face and gloves WORKING and looking down at the food she was serving and engaging with the people she was serving to. Pathetic. Although I’m SURE Kim will prove all naysayers wrong with her grand efforts in Haiti. Ha!

  65. dj says:

He has beautiful blue eyes and he is a talented writer, actor and stand-up comedian. Compare that to a sex tape.

  66. Flan says:

I bet lots of people are watching it just to feel better about themselves (like he does). Wouldn’t surprise me if it’s more than half the ratings.

  67. Gigohead says:

I don’t know, but I haven’t forgiven him for that Allen Gregory cartoon It’s so offensive and stupid. It’s like watching the Kardashians. I’m almost tempted to switch the channels, it’s that bad!

  68. JaneWonderfalls says:

I like Jonah Hill and I agree with him on the KKK being useless, but honestly are the movies he in that great for society either. I don’t think he is really in a position to past judgement as if he’s starred in critically acclaimed films with depth, he’s no Helen Mirren…that’s all I’m saying and btw I can’t stand the KKK family but still, some people just have no room to talk and jump on the bandwagon because it’s popular now.

  69. TheChelsea says:

Why is he so mad about a reality TV show that is on a completely different plane than his profession is? His career as a movie actor in no way is affected by a cable television reality show. It’s 2 completely different genre’s. That’s like a country musician whose pissed that rock music sells more albums than country does. His movie ratings are not being stolen by the Kardashian’s shows.
And as Kim was explaining to Barbara Walters in her interview with the Kardashian women for the ‘2011 Most Fascinating People’, but got cut off from finishing, was that it is more difficult to get the public to like you for YOU than it is to get them to like you for how well you portray a fictional person who was rehearsed, dressed, and made to look a certain way with lighting and camera angles and who gets more than one chance to get it right.

I also think it was a bad idea for Jonah to bring politics into the mix. Right or Left, it’s not his job to give political opinions, it’s his job to remember lines and show up to the red carpet events and interviews. Unlike the Kardashians whose job it is to constantly travel to 4 different corners of the country, run a retail chain that’s all over the US, show up to several events a week, give several interviews a week, and also be a good role model to the younger crowd for an hour a week, ALL WITH CAMERAS FOLLOWING YOUR EVERY MOVE –not much compared to Jonah Hill who makes the same money only to be himself in public for the same amount of time in a year as the Kardashian family does in a single week. And that’s not even including the fact that the Kardashians constantly have to work out and stay fit, be well dressed, raise children and do a shit-ton of behind the scenes business pertaining to the 6 or 8 different job titles they each have.

This bitchfest he went on doesn’t help his image at all and only fuels the Kardashian bonfire. If jealous B-listers like him didn’t speak out like this about celebrities they despise, maybe the Kardashians wouldn’t be so huge. This guy needs a reality check of his own (pun intended).

  70. TheChelsea says:

I think Jonah’s career is falling and he needed some publicity, so he chose the one family, whose name everyone in the country is familiar, with to give a passionate, negative opinion of.

If a B-list celebrity mentions the name of an A-list celebrity, they automatically get attention to. He’s riding their coat tails because he’s a has-been.

Get fat again and go back to bathroom comedy, Jonah. That’s all you’re good for. BTW you look “disgusting”, your face and your whole body are friggin saggy because you chose the quick, easy route to being slim.

  71. Mike_in_Kyiv says:

I’m not a celebrity but certainly want to have a go at this bunch!

Kim Kardashian and the Klan are a phenomena for two reasons: First, their “pumped was primed”, so-to-speak, by their wealthy-attorney father (now deceased) Robert Kardashian, they were born with the Hollywood silver spoon, and swirled in the circle of celebrity from the get-go. Second, in Kim’s case she’s mastered modern technology – she is a creature of the Internet and she and her staff know how to use it very effectively. Not since the 1950’s and 60’s when the Gabor sisters held forth has a group of young air-headed women come along with NOTHING to offer of substance and firmly planted themselves as celebrities!

Can we call Kim’s under-performance in her homemade porn movie with Ray J a success? I think not. This was proof positive that she can’t act! What do we really have? A so-so looking Armenian chick with a big fanny and a TV crew! That’s it! You see Kim without make-up you KNOW she’s no Barbie doll. Barbie has natural plastic beauty which Kim and her sisters do not possess.

The Kardashians are a vacuous lot! These are not women of substance or breeding; this was masterfully exposed by Barbara Walters’ recent interview of the Kardashians. Their elocution is full-on Valley Girl – that cutesie, sugary, whinny, squeaky speak that that drove me crazy the first time I heard it from Lariane Newman, Moon Unit Zappa (Frank’s daughter) and Tracy Nelson (Ricky’s daughter) in the late 70’s and early 80’s.
    .
As the father of two daughters, I believe parents must put as many positive role models in their kid’s path as possible, so they can discriminate and KNOW the difference between a symbol (Ala Hollywood or the Net) and someone of substance, goodness and credibility. Kardashian life is really pretty uninteresting compared to our life and I wouldn’t trade ours for anything!

Reality TV and the Kardashian life and life style will pass. It won’t necessarily be replaced with anything better but we can hope. I think it is refreshing to contemplate a life with less media and more contact with real people in real time and not being so plugged into this manic, mindless garbage that passes for entertainment and social networking. Time to learn about some simple “unplugged” things like conversation and books. Both are wonderful.
