Angelina Jolie reacts to her Globe nom: “This can’t be, I never expected this”

Have you missed Angelina Jolie Week? I have. We’ve still had Angelina stories to talk about, of course, but I miss the constant barrage of all-things-Angelina that was last week. Of course, several of the bigger awards shows announced their nominations this week, and Angelina surprisingly got some of those noms. I really am shocked – I didn’t expect In the Land of Blood and Honey to be a hit film (Angelina didn’t expect either, that’s not why she made it), so my only expectation was that the film would be discussed in the scope of war films and humanitarian aid, etc. I didn’t think that it would actually be an awards contender anywhere, really. But it is. Increasingly so!

Remember, Angelina is all over this film – she wrote the script, she directed it, she financed it (for the most part) and she produced it. That means that if the film as a whole gets an award, they’re pretty much handing it over to Angelina herself. Several days ago, the Producers Guild of America announced that they were giving ITLODAH – Angelina herself – the Stanley Kramer Award. The Stanley Kramer Award is given to people and productions “whose achievement or contribution illuminates provocative social issues in an accessible and elevating fashion.” Previous winners have included Hotel Rwanda (I love that movie), In America (I love that movie) and Sean Penn (meh). PGA presidents Hawk Koch and Mark Gordon stated their reasoning: “In the Land of Blood and is an extraordinary film that portrays a complex love story set against the terrors of the Bosnian War, especially towards women. This film truly embraces the legacy of Stanley Kramer.” Jolie will be on hand on January 21 to accept the award with her fellow producers.

So, in addition to that, Jolie just picked up another Golden Globe nomination for Best Foreign Film yesterday. You know what I wonder? I wonder if the criteria for “Best Foreign Film” is the same at the Globes as it is at the Academy Awards. Like, I don’t think Angelina has a chance in hell for getting nominated in the directing or writing categories at the Oscars, but would the Academy nominate the film in Best Foreign? It’s certainly an interesting idea, isn’t it? And that way, both Brad Pitt AND Angelina would be nominated, just like they were in 2009.

Meanwhile, Angelina released a statement when she heard about her Globe nomination (what is this, like, her seventh or eighth Globe nomination?):

Angelina Jolie was driving two of her children to their dentist appointments in the wee hours of Wednesday morning–she says likes to beat the rush–when she learned of the Golden Globe nomination for her directorial debut In the Land of Blood and Honey.

The Bosnian war movie, which opens in select theaters in the U.S. on Dec. 23, was one of five films earning a spot in the best foreign langauge film category. Jolie shot the film both in English and Bosnian/Croation/Serbian; at her request, FilmDistrict will release it in BHS in the U.S.

“I was on my way and turned on my phone, and saw the subject line on an email. I thought, this can’t be. I never expected this,” Jolie told The Hollywood Reporter in a phone interview. “Just to be able to make a film you care about and then get a distributor makes you happy.”

[From The Hollywood Reporter]

Jolie released a second statement to Us Weekly: “I am grateful that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association is honoring our film. This was a true collaboration, and I am forever indebted to our cast and crew, who experienced their own personal tragedies in the Bosnian War and gave me an authentic perspective into the conflict. This nomination is a tribute to the collective talent and passion of this extraordinary cast.” Damn, she really wants this! Now I kind of want ITLOBAH to be nominated for an Oscar.

    So happy for La Jolie

    • hatekyle says:

That distinguishes her from wannabees…AJ doesn’t need her publicity machine to buy and concoct silly awards to get noticed!

  2. RobN says:

Actually, she’s being sued for having stolen the idea for the script, but I’m sure that won’t get settled before awards season.

    • Bite me says:

So is just Cameron for Avatar… These lawsuits are bogus

      • RobN says:

Presumably by the makers of Pocahontas.

      • shawn says:

Not all such lawsuits are bogus. Ideas do get stolen all the time in Hollyweird. But the thing is, synchronicity also happens all the time where scripts are concerned. I think it just has to do with whatever is in the cultural consciousness at the moment. Two writers get the same idea at the same time.

    • lisa says:

And how do you steal an idea that is not the same as the person suing is claiming.

I don’t think Angie is worried.

Saw that JK Rowling, James Cameron and loads of other are being or have been sued too. So she is in good company.

this guy did not develop an original about war or the crimes and horror that come with it. Just somebody trying to get a buck.

Excited for her and the film.. Especially since so many of the people that lived through it have had great praise it and the way she has handled such a sensitive subject.

    • Lucky Charm says:

That’s a frivolous lawsuit and nothing she will need to worry about. You can’t steal an idea about a war that already happened and everyone knows about! Plus, that guy has already admitted that her movie is different from his book, so even if she got the inspiration from him, she changed things so it wouldn’t be the exact same story. He just wants his book to sell, and thinks there’s no better guarantee than to invoke the name of Angelina Jolie!

      • Jaxx says:

Frivolous is the word alright, except this guy is getting publicity so he already won something didn’t he? The whole thing is so lame: she stole my idea about a woman raped in a war! Like it’s the first time a woman got raped. Please. Now, if he characters were speaking dialouge that came right out of his book he might have something. But to say she stole his idea is a ridiculous waste of the court’s time and I hope he is penalized for that. La Jolie ought to sue for her lawyer’s fees to be paid by this jerk.

    • Original Chloe says:

Actually, he’s just withdrawn his shift for a fleeting restraining order for the movie. I am predicting he’s going to either backtrack from the whole thing in the coming months, or simply lose.

Which won’t change the fact that his book (which is *coincidentally* just being translated into English) will sell well, with the name of Jolie and the notion of ‘scandal’ attached to it.

No one has copyrights for facts, history and media events, and these issues were discussed at length under other posts.

My personal stance on it would be that the guy has quite an ego: he claims (among others) that Jolie cannot do justice to the reality of rape camps and the tragedy of the female prisoners there, while he, for some reason, is the person who can. It’s all bitterly ironic.

    • LeeR. says:

Bgus lawsuit. Actually, the plaintiff, Braddock already,”has withdrawn his motion for a temporary restraining order after the film’s distributor impressed the judge with arguments about why the motion for temporary injunctive relief was defective”. NO GROUNDS for copyright infringement!

    • mln76 says:

I predict he’ll withdraw the whole thing. Because the judge may approve a move to California and in CA a defendant can countersue for damages when a suit is proved fraudulent.

    • Annie says:

Out of curiouslity, have any of ou actually read the papers he filed for the lawsuit? He cites a fair number of very very close similarities ( not only in what happened, but in who the protagonists are society wise) and was apparently in talks with the Bosian producer involved with this film about getting his book to film.

Not to say she read the book and then copied it in her script. However, it’s entirely possible that the Bosnian producer guy who most certainly did read the book and had several meetings with Braddock about it served in part as her ad hoc “advisor” on all things Bosnian and spoonfed her Braddock’s book points without her knowing that’s what he was doing.

      • mln76 says:

@Annie I feel so sorry for you rabid Angelina haters that put so much stock in this obviously disturbed individual. The ‘similarities’ as you called them are based on the fact that the Bosnian war is AN HISTORICAL EVENT so the fact that there is rape in both stories means NOTHING because that’s what happened…This guy is a crook and disturbed. He’s made other claims against other people in the past that were thrown out of court just like this will be. Of course all you rabid obsessed Anti-Angiephiles will pretend that that somehow doesn’t matter.

      • Annie says:

I feel rather sorry for you that you feel the need to label someone as a “rabid Angie hater” despite the fact that I’ve given her the benefit of the doubt.
        http://206.18.146.25/rfcViewFile/11cv8597.pdf

The actual lawsuit papers filed, if you care to read them.

Of course, unless you or I read Serbo-Croatian and have read Braddock’s book and have seen Jolie’s film, neither one of us have any clue whether her film was poached from his book or not. That said, this sort of work requires research, you don’t just wing a film script about this sort of subject off the top of your head. Why would she NOT use her Bosnian producing partner as a source of information, fact checking and fine-tuning?

As to his being a crackpot and a serial frivilous court case bringer, if you care to provide links to that, I’ll be happy to read them.

      • Original Chloe says:

Annie, again, to be fair – Braddock hasn’t seen (nor read the script of) Jolie’s film. You say he quotes similarities but aren’t these *assumed* similarities at this stage? His accusations are based on.. I don’t even know what. He says he heard people say things that reminded him of his book (And I am basing this information on his own webpage, available in English).

On the other hand, Jolie did mention that she researched this issue, read a lot of testimonies and talked to people who lived through this war.

Why wouldn’t he wait till the movie is released to have a solid proof of plagiarism? Is he actually trying to win or is it just a publicity stunt?

My information about his withdrawal of the restraining order for the film comes from the news, and you can find it if you google it. I haven’t read his book, nor seen the movie, but his argument simply seems shaky: he suspects that she might have stolen his idea (and let’s not get into the dispute whether it’s possible to steal a historical event) and he sued her.

We’re gonna have to wait and see but – and this is what I was trying to say – the guy is already backtracking, the fact that he hasn’t seen the movie makes me suspicious, and it all looks even more fishy as his novel is just being translated into English.

As for the character of this writer – and I actually do read a bit in the Slavic languages, being born into one – he links, on his webpage, letters of support for him from various womens’ rights organizations (without translating them) – but if you look closely, those letters support his effort in writing the novel, not his fight against Jolie. And yet, there is no commentary on that, and the letters are not translated into English. I call that manipulation.

All in all, like I’ve said, we’ll have to wait but I’m just skeptical about Braddock’s true intentions.

        @Annie
a Google search of Knezevic turns up an interesting exchange on You Tune from about four years ago. Knezevic got into a pissing match on the YouTube message board with another filmmaker, Robbie Wright. He claimed that Wright had stolen his work for a video about the Bosnian conflict set to Seal’s record, “Crazy.” But people on the board came to Wright’s defense, and Wright sent Knezevic copies of all his press passes from the Bosnian-Serbian war. He and his followers say all the footage from the video was shot by him.

        http://www.showbiz411.com/2011/12/05/angelina-jolie-accuser-made-previous-claims-against-other-filmmakers

      • mln76 says:

@Annie as for whether or not he is disturbed. The reason I believe this is he has been for months making rather odd posts all over the internet in conjunction with the woman from the Woman’s movement in Serbia. Claiming at once that Angelina had stolen his work and that she was also glorifying rape in the same story. He himself couldn’t decide whether or not Angelina made up her own story or stole his. My personal feeling is a sane and rational person who felt he had been plagerized would be intelligent enough not to run to IMDB or the like and instead get a lawyer and immediately sue. He instead for months used Angelina’s name to sell his book. The motivation for Braddock as stated above is press for the upcoming English translation of his book. That’s right the book Angelina was supposed to have plagerized it’s not even in English.

      • Original Chloe says:

        -continued

As for the similarities that he quotes in the lawsuit, it made me think (and I apologise in advance for a silly comparison) about the similarities between Harry Potter and Star Wars.

(I know that CB isn’t fond of posting links but please allow this one, it makes a point)

        http://www.newsinfilm.com/2011/07/23/parallels-between-harry-potter-and-star-wars/

        or this:

        http://www.bitrebels.com/geek/harry-potter-vs-star-wars-the-similarities-are-striking/

Similarities as those are actually studied by structuralist narratology at various humanities departments all over the world but no one ever makes claims of plagiarism in instances like that.

I don’t think Braddock has a leg to stand on.

      • Annie says:

@Chloe: True enough that he hasn’t seen the film. No clue if he’s read the script or not, but I’d be surprised if he at least didn’t know someone who had. I imagine that the entertainment industry in BiH is pretty small as is the case in almost all of the European countries. Also, given that he’s also a journalist, he may or may not have sources in the govt who had access to the script following the filming permit brouhaha. No idea, but frankly if I was an author who was in talks with a Bosnian producer over film rights for my book, only to discover that the guy has cut a production deal with someone from HW after a year of fruitless talks with me, and then find out that the script of the film that he’s in on has enough similarities to make me suspicious, I’d be suing too. There are a lot of hustlers in this world and it’s not at all impossible that both Jolie and Braddock got played by this guy.

@mln: honestly, unless this guy is posting crazy stuff on his own personal website, there is absolutely no way of being sure that anything attributed to him anywhere else was actually him. It could be him, but it could just as easily be the PA of the Bosnian guy he sued.

Me, I don’t think Jolie is stupid enough to think she could get away with stealing someone else’s work wholesale for her debut and not get caught. I also think that if the guy who is suing was only after money, he wouldn’t have sued beforehand, he would have waited until it came out. Most especially, he wouldn’t have originally asked for an injunction as had it been granted, it would have invalidated the film for any of this year’s awards which would probably reduce it’s eventual box office and therefore the “damage” he would have suffered. From what I understand, it looks as if he withdrew the injunction request due to financial concerns… Ie: he’d have to put up a large bond of some sort.

Perhaps we’ll have the chance to compare the two should a translation of his book become available. As for now, I’m not willing to label her as a plagairist and I’m not willing to label him as a nuisance case nutjob. If he was indeed in contact with the Bosnian producer and can produce emails and texts proving so as he claims, if the film script mirrors more of his book than can be coincidence, then it’s quite possible that the Bosnian producer may have “advised”, “fact checked” and “tweaked” the final script into authenticity based on his knowledge of the book. Completely unbenownst to Jolie, who I doubt reads Serbo-Croatian.

      • mln76 says:

@Annie that’s fair enough. I personally don’t believe him because of his repeated internet posts prior to the movie’s release (If he hasn’t seen the movie or read a script how can he claim that his idea was stolen). IF he can prove something then fine. But from what I have read it seems likely that the venue will be changed to California (as no one in the case is a resident of Chicago) and he will end up paying damages to Jolie.

      • deltona lakes says:

The judge even questioned why he waited until 3 weeks before the release of the movie to file a lawsuit when he admitted in his filings that he knew about this since 2010. Also, why he was filing in Illinois Federal Court when neither defendants live or do business in the state.
Let’s add Steven Spielberg, who was sued for “Armistad”,. A story about captured African slaves aboard a ship.
        BTW, that suit was dimissed.

      • Katherine says:

To Annie: Yes, I have read all the pleadings so far. His allegations of similarity are not that unique. Actually the ethnicities of his characters are not exactly the same as those of Jolie’s characters. But let’s be real, there are only a few ethnicities that were even involved in the conflict and the ethnicities of the characters pretty much dictate what their role in any Bosnian war story would be. So anyone writing about the war would be limited in their choices.

The script was written before the Bosnian based production crew/producer or his company were ever involved in the making of this film. Plenty of people saw the script before the local producer got involved or before he ever saw the script.

Interestingly and relevant to his current case, a few years ago Knezevic (aka Braddock) falsely accused a cameraman who covered & filmed the war of stealing his (Knezevic/Braddock’s) video footage. That proved to be a lie. In fact when the cameraman and others shot his lies (or delusion) down, the cameraman pointed out that the TV station that Braddock claims to have headed up during the war had actually interviewed him (the cameraman) about the making of his war films. How come Knezevic/Braddock didn’t know about that if he really headed that station? Since the TV station would probably have the cameraman’s footage in their archives I wonder if the reverse wasn’t true & Knezevic/Braddock didn’t lift this cameraman’s film.

I’m very happy to see female directors getting acknowledged. Jolie has gone out of her way to acknowledge the collaboration that helped make this movie as well as include the cast and crew in any and every discussion about it. That doesn’t happen all that often with male directors.

  3. laylajanelovesgossip says:

    Boo…

  4. Mina says:

She is been trying so much for this film that borders desperation. So tired of her…

    • Khloe says:

Exactly. Desperate woman. She is pathetic.

      • cmc says:

It’s desperate to promote your work? She seems to have busted her butt for this film, if she did any less to promote it than she has been would show she doesn’t care. I don’t think there’s anything desperate in displaying that you care about your work and its success.

      • Mari says:

Remember that at the end it is not only her work but of all the people involved and hired formit. It is good that she promotes their work altogether… Also, puss in boots and Mi 9 are being promoted extensively, I do not complain, I just do not care to post there, and be all negative duh.

      • Srebrenica says:

This movie deserves it to be promoted as hell! its not a stupid romcom its a serious movie and you should all watch it to see what is happening on our planet! because this can happen to everybody and in every country! no country is save against war and woman are never save against rape in times of war, because woman are the easy vicitms for rapist!

      • Annie says:

It actually is a little bit… maybe not desperate but insecure. It seemed incongruous to have put this film out in Serbo-Croatian when she shot it in English as well and I was wondering why she had done so, given that US audiences are generally a bit allergic to sub-titles and the box office take for it was likely to suffer because of that.

This (and it’s the Golden Globes no less, which is kind of sad) finally makes that choice a bit logical. I’ve yet to decide if she is doing an awards “crap-shoot” and betting that the GG publicity would make up for the sub-title receipts lag, or if she very simply wanted to be a big fish in a small pond because she’s so used to adulation that she wasn’t willing to take the risk of having to compete with the big boys and passing completely unnoticed.

      • Original Chloe says:

        @ Annie
“It seemed incongruous to have put this film out in Serbo-Croatian when she shot it in English as well and I was wondering why she had done so, given that US audiences are generally a bit allergic to sub-titles and the box office take for it was likely to suffer because of that.”

Please don’t take it the wrong way, Annie, but America is not the centre of the universe.

      • Annie says:

Ahhh Chloe, not being American I know that. But given that when she chose to put it out in Serbo-Croatian, it was only slated for the US and Turkey via distribution deals, it didn’t make much sense to put it out in a language that the largest market share didn’t speak, especially since she actually filmed it in that language.

Although I’ll add, now that I think of it, it’s likely cheaper to subtitle than dub a film. Still, that doesn’t explain not putting it out in English, which she actually filmed it in as well. As I understand it, domestic box office is a huge factor in foreign distribution deals, and subtitling rather than releasing it in the already shot English version would seem a handicap to domestic receipts. I’m perfectly willing to entertain any other logical (ie: upside vs downside) theory, but it seems to me that she might be playing the weakest link and counting on the fact that while HW knows that the GG’s aren’t that prestigious, the rest of the world doesn’t.

    • Seal Team 6 says:

Do you feel the same way about all the male directors and writer “desperately” promoting their work? You know, like producers, directors, actors, writers, etal are supposed to do? How about the other female Golden Globe noms? Or is it just AJ?

      Yeah, that’s what I thought.

Her promotion is neither desperate or pathetic. It’s what those in the industry do, as well as book authors and singers.

      • Giant Jaw says:

Yeah, but you don’t hear Aronofsky or Fincher talking about what ‘bad boys’ they are or about their damn kids either.

      • Tara says:

Yeah it completely baffles me how promoting something you’ve had a key role in creating is insecure or desperate. Seems like a pronounced gift for projection on the part of those commenters.

  5. Kimble says:

She has Frodo feet! Other than that, she looks absolutely beautiful in that photograph.

    • Ginger says:

Frodo feet! LOL! Thank goodness there is at least one physical imperfection on this woman…she is so gorgeous

  6. chunkstyle says:

LOVE that b&w photo of her looking semi-goofy! SO GORGEOUS!!! She should loosen up more like that in photos.

    • Faye says:

I agree. I get the feeling that that’s more how she is in real life but puts on the SERIOUS FACE when out in public with her children or on the red carpet. I think if we saw more of her goofy side, people would find her much more relatable. Also, her vulnerability over this project has also made her seem more human, less unreachable Saint-Goddess.

      • teri says:

It’s been several years but Brad invited someone over to his home and Angelina and the children were playing dressup. She was dressed with a huge red wig and paint and the children were all dressed as well having fun. Do any of you remember this being said? Maybe I dreamed this up but I think it was someone he worked with?

      • Lucky Charm says:

@ Teri, yes, I recall that too. I can’t find it, but I think it was an interview of Brad, for Parade magazine maybe? I do remember that the guy was at their house, and Angelina & some of the kids came in wearing costumes and obviously having playtime. It was really cute!

  7. inception fan says:

I love Angie so much, but only reason why they released this film in the Bosnian language in USA! – they wanted this nomination, and they knew that they would receive it. I do not believe that she and her team did not plan this from the beginning.

    • Tapioca says:

Well, quite – I wonder how much actual “directing” one can do in a language that one does not even speak though!

And you don’t release a “serious” movie in December either unless you are hankering for an award.

      • mln76 says:

Actually she didn’t decide on the release date. Graham King the producer and owner of the production company made that decision after seeing the movie.

      • Mari says:

Yeah, I still cannot understand how Alejandro Gonzalez Iñarritu directed Babel in Morocco and in Japan, let alone a certain Japanese actor Toshiro Mifune working in a Mexican movie in Spanish as a native… He did a great work, and spoke phonetically good Spanish, and he was directed by a Mexican. Russian Eisenstein was filming a movie in Mexico in the 1930s. I bet he made himself understood, or most probably used an interpreter… Angelina? The main actors already speak English, they arebEuropeand and many of them speak 2 or more languages. It is nice that her Opera Prima is getting some love.

      • lisa says:

So unless you speak the language you can’t “direct”.

There are BTS (behind the scenes video of her actually directing. And yes she had a translator. Just like Clint had when he directed her film. Don’t recall anyone doubting his work. Fans should check the videos out. Great to see her behind the camera.

    • Original Chloe says:

Why not go further – how about: she’s planned her 10 year with the UN to prepare the field for the movie.

And re: Tapioca – didn’t she repeat over and over again that it was the actors who often changed the lines and suggested how they need to sound in their language? Even in that statement above she mentions the award being “tribute to the collective talent and passion of this extraordinary cast.”

      Jeez, you people are cynical.

    • Emma says:

Have you considered that perhaps they released the film in the Native language as an homage to all the people of that Nation who survived the war? I think it very fitting and smart. This a truly a film they can call their own.

  8. layla says:

Ok. I just have to say…. for someone with such a lanky arm/leg body type, those toes on her right foot are remarkably stubby.

Yes. I know off topic… but I really needed to get that off my chest. (I don’t normally notice such things, but yeeeps, this was just so glaring!)

    *Carry on.

    • deltona lakes says:

at least her feet is absent of bunions and a big ole corn on the toe .. as someone else we know (cough)

  9. Sadie says:

LOL…Why did she share that she was driving the kids to the dentist. Just an odd thing to share.

    • spinner says:

Angie is great in so many ways but I wish she would quit using the kids to prop herself up.

    • deltona lakes says:

She wasn’t quoted, the interviewer added that she was at the Dentist office with her kids. He most likey asked her where she was when she heard the news. I’ve heard other nominees asked the same thing for major awards.. But, of course with Angie there’s some alterior motive.

  10. Happy21 says:

Isn’t it nominated for “Foreign LANGUAGE Film” not “Foreign Film”?

  11. Hmmm says:

Hollywood is so objective and discriminating.

  12. phool says:

Congratulations on her nomination, she is very proud of the movie & why shouldnt she be .Idea’s cannot be stolen, when those so called ideas are FACTS its called WAR & CASUALTIES OF WAR,i praise her for showing it on film Bosnian people cannot hide away from the ugliness of war & what it did to many.It takes guts to tackel Tabo subjects it open up a debate good for her.

  13. MaryJo says:

ITLOBAH is not nominated for Best Foreign Movie at the Golden Globes (there is no such category at the GGs), but for Best Foreign Language Film, as it is being distributed in the Sebian language version.
The Academy Awards do have a Best Foreign Movie category, but ITLOBAH is not elegible because it is an American movie.

  14. Rux says:

I love the header picture of her so nice to finally see photographers do a cute/goofy picture spread instead of always trying to sex her up. She looks adorable in that picture.

    • dj says:

I really love that first picture too. She looks goofy and likable. Congratulations to A.J. for her directorial debut. It is a win-win for women when women get a chance to direct.

  15. Deborra Hall says:

What happened to if you can’t speak nice. You don’t say nothing at all. Being a loved Foster child. What Brad and her have done. They are going to get blessed with anything they Touch. Love her.

  16. mln76 says:

I love how desperate some are to put her down I guess it must make some women happy that she has ‘ugly feet’. Meanwhile she’s off living her life, writing & directing, raising her children with her man.

Oh and no ITLOBAH doesn’t have strong Oscar chances because the HFPA rules for Foreign Language Film aren’t the same. The country itself must nominate a film to be Oscar eligible.

    • Kobi says:

They put down Angie for the same desperate and irrational reasons you put down Jen.

      • Jesse says:

I disagree. I bet all the non fans on both sides have excellent reasons for their hate, although I am yet to hear one.

      • Original Chloe says:

        Jesse, game on;)

Jolie is (to me) a smart, well spoken, talented A-list actress and a humanitarian whose work actually changes people’s lives. This is why, from my side of the fence, the constant bashing and name calling she gets – elsewhere, not on CB – is a bit undeserved.

JA, on the other hand, is (again from my perspective) a TV actress with decent comedic timing and a rather narrow scope; a nice looking lady who rarely has something interesting to say, and who capitalized on public sympathy by talking about her broken heart over the last years. She is, nonetheless, elevated to an iconic status, named the hottest woman in the history of humanity, and the earnings of her rom coms are quoted as the proof of her superior acting skills.

It’s the dramatic contrast between what JA represents as an actress (and a person) and the spin that is put on her achievement, looks, life style etc that causes the bitchiness, or the “putting down.”

        But to each their own.

      • Original Chloe says:

Hrm. I could have spared everyone two long paragraphs above. My reasons being:

Jolie news of the day: a movie award and a nomination
Aniston news of the day: I don’t do botox buy I dye my eyelashes.

    • mln76 says:

@Kobi I think Jen is plastic and fake she admits to using injectibles so she’s proven me right. I’ve point out that her career is a dud- she admits that she’s never gotten a role she’s wanted. If she ever actually achieved something of worth I wouldn’t put it down. Check back to posts about her short on Lifetime. I didn’t say a GD thing because THAT is what she should be doing-developing her career based on her talents(IMO TV not films).
What is so desparate and irrational about pointing out what Jen herself has admitted???

      • Ruby Red Lips says:

Can I also add thst when AJ ‘alledgedl stole’ Brad from JA all h8ll broke loose but when JA ‘steals’ her bf (Justin) from another woman JA is congratulated!!! WTF!! JA is an overrated average looking woman who is on no level anywhere near AJ in any term. AJ does so much gd for bringing awareness to people in other less civilized and humane countries as the poster said b4JA talks about botox!

  17. Victoria says:

Angie, I love you but c’mon you KNOW your name alone along with the serious content matter and people speaking a different language, was going to get you the recognition that you totally deserve. Don’t be falsely modest girl!Own the fact that you got bitches all in a heave ho about it because the movie is actually a good one and give’em a kanye shrug. Brush that dirt off your shoulder! Congrats to her.

  18. I’m so glad this film is getting praise. It would be awesome to see it get an Oscar nom.

  19. Original Chloe says:

Kudoz to Angie. I’m really happy that the film is so warmly received (though I don’t think a rookie director like AJ would get an Oscar nomination, even if the movie was eligible, and it isn’t, because the Oscar rules are different)

Side note: The award is for a foreign language film, which is also why Forster’s The Kite Runner could be nominated, or Gibson’s Apocalypto (not that it was worth much – and to follow the logic of some of the posters above, I’m sure Gibson planned to use the Mayan only to get the nomination for Apocalypto).

  20. ann h says:

She’s not as hung up on her looks as some of her non fans are. She’s more noted for her craft, humanitarian efforts, kindness and love of family to me.

    • sandy#1 says:

i couldn’t agree more, even with brad, they are trying their hardest to have people focus on more substantial topics, yes, they are a good looking couple, but looks fade,(well maybe not theirs)lol, but they are and have done so much more important things in their union together, hence the subject matter and her and brads nomination, very talented actors who are respected for their craft, not their personal life, THEIR CRAFT.

  21. Ginger says:

I for one am so happy for her! She is so gorgeous, successful and intelligent. It’s nice to see her gaining recognition for her hard work on this film especially when Hollywood can be so male dominated…go ladies!!!

  22. Vey says:

That’s rather hard to believe – that she never considered awards.

    • Gigi says:

So true. Look, I LOVE the Brange but sometimes I wonder about statements like this. She’s a pro, so she knows how the Globes work (hello, The Tourist and hello, look how nicely she tucked in her mommyness into the story). I’m pretty damn sure she wasn’t really all that surprised. She should’ve crafted the wording on that statement more carefully, this is where having a real publicist would’ve helped!

  23. bitca says:

Oh, I adore that top photo! Am confused at times by my liking for Jolie… But she is so shamelessly, cheerfully eccentric; even a bit crazy (not coked-up, paranoiac Courtney Love crazy; just kinda nutty). Also, she’s not stupid.

And when it comes to being not-stupid, while it seems early for Pitt to stop, Jolie’s acting career’s been in the tank for a while. She must know that, & seems to have lost interest anyway. So yeah; time to move on. Hope her film is good. We need more female writer/directors (except Madonna).

BTW, re some earlier comments: it is not unheard-of for directors to work quite well via an interpreter (in China can be a necessity). One more thing—appears in some Netflix reviews too, & baffles me—um, what on earth is bad about a subtitled film? Don’t you WANT to hear the actual actor’s voice? May take some getting used to, but it’s a far more engrossing experience.

Dubbing has improved over the years, but still hides all sorts of vocal nuances, & is kinda schizoid… each role is being played by two actors. Watching subbed foreign movies becomes easy, & even fun: you start to listen more intently as well, & could learn some choice phrases 😉

    • Original Chloe says:

Re: “um, what on earth is bad about a subtitled film?”
[and oh, I’m asking for trouble now:)]

Where I live there’s a general belief that the American audiences dislike reading so much that you prefer to make your own versions of movies instead of reading subtitles.

      /hides in her cupboard.

      • mln76 says:

Unfortunately it’s true. Most people in the US would rather not read subtitles. I personally never mind unless I am really tired and just want to zone out and not think. It’s also hard for people with vision problems to read the subtitles because unless they are yellow they can sometimes be unreadable. I just think in general people who get annoyed by subtitles honestly just don’t like Foreign Films AT ALL. In most cases I enjoy them more. (Although I couldn’t sit through the original Girl W/the Dragon Tattoo and am hoping David Fincher’s version is better.)

    • Victoria says:

      Bitca,

I adore your name, it’s always lovely to see other Buffy fans. I believe Xander said this in season two in Reptile Boy or was it What’s My Line Pt. 1. I can’t believe I can’t remember as it’s my favorite show of all time! Anyway, just had to say that.

      • lucy2 says:

The “Bitca” line is one of my faves too! I still call people that sometimes.

      • bitca says:

awww… @Victoria & @lucy2…. So psyched. Yes indeed, was such a die-hard Buffy-fan I even stuck round for last 2 seasons when story-lines fell into the Hellmouth.

PS: am not anti-Eng re-make of Dragon Tat, but feel sorry for those who could not acclimate themselves to the subtitles for the original. A harsh film to watch regardless, & only wish the best for the more US-friendly version (even if I think it gratuitous 😉

PPS: Pls @originalchloe: come out of the “cool w/subs closet!!’—I feel so alone at times…geez! Won’t even watch anime unless it’s at least fan-subbed. So happy to see another Celebitca understanding value of subtitles. Missing Original girl w dragon tattoo due to subs is sad, but I get it: Culture gap. Similar to difficulty ppl have watching b/w movies. They may be v intelligent, but it’s an alien experience. Like I said, can take time to adjust.

      • bitca says:

All I recall is Xander saying Buffy had become sort of a ‘Bitca.’ Maybe S2, after she’d died for the 1st time? that’d do it to me.

Fave quote ever tho is Willow viewing supernaturally-twisted parental graffiti in ‘Band Candy:’ “KISS ROCKS?!? Why would Anyone WANT to kiss….. Ohhh… I get it.”

    • Aly says:

Pan’s Labyrinth. Need I say more?

  24. Turd Fergussen says:

    Never expected this? BITCH PLEASE.

Stick to husband stealing, adopting children and looking pretty. Feigning modesty doesn’t suit you.

    • Airheads here ???? says:

husband stealing? how old are you? a human being cant be stolen. except he is a slave LoL hahahahahahahha
Please honey, we´re here on a higher level, this is not trailerparktrash aka usmagazine 😉

    • Seal Team 6 says:

No one can steal anyone’s spouse. It’s impossible. The “stealer” also isn’t the one who took the vows.

But, let us all forget that for a moment, okay, because I just have one quite question to ask you: Are you the newest member of The Plastics??? I thought Regina capped the membership.

  25. elisa says:

I just saw ITLOBAH last night. Powerful film, very good. It’s pretty explicit in showing violence (not in a gratuitous way), so if you’re not ok with seeing (realistically) violent deaths and rapes, don’t see it. I do think it was really well done (good job Angie!). Reminded me a lot of Schindler’s List and Hotel Rwanda.

    • elisa says:

Oh, and yes it was all in Serbian (I assume, parts of it maybe Croatian or Bosnian? I don’t know I don’t speak any of those languages), but the subtitles were fine. There’s a tiny bit of English, mostly radio broadcasts/ CNN newscasts. Don’t let the language issue put you off from seeing it.

    • mln76 says:

I’m really jealous it sounds like such a difficult film. I want to see it really badly I just have to wait and see what movie theaters near me will show it.

  26. Cut the Cheese says:

Can’t wait to hear what Ricky has to say about this 🙂

  27. NM9005 says:

Now she’s surprised? I thought The Tourist being nominated last year would have surprised her more :D. The more stars they can attract, the better the ratings although I’m inclined to believe that In The Land is actually quality material and thus deservedly would qualify for being able to win an award.

Nice little gratuitous tidbit about her being a doting mom. I’m sure it was spontaneous. WORK IT!

  28. olivia says:

    1. Biatch can’t figure out Amazon.com but she has email set up on her cell phone?
    2. I thought the paps were constantly on their a$$ and that brangelina couldn’t avoid the paps no matter what, which is why we always see photos of them and their gaggle of kids plastered all over the internet and on the cover of tabloid magazines, so how was she able to drive them to a dentist appointment with no one knowing about it?
    3. What does she mean she didn’t expect it? She changed the language of the movie and added subtitles with the express purpose of getting it nominated because she didn’t have a prayer in any other category. Didn’t she say the same thing last year about The Tourist? Well at least she didn’t get nominated in the comedy category this time.

    • Brit says:

Bitter Olivia is here Yay 1 Maybe an assistant set up the email on phone 2 The paps rarely photograph them in LA sometimes they can go for weeks in LA w/o being papped 3 The movie is in BCS Bosnian Croatian Serbian because the film was made for the people of that region. The film is not eligible for an Oscar for Best foreign film because.Congrats to Angie, all the buzz has been excellent . Looking forward to the reviews next week. Most powerful and highest paid actress in Hollywood and now a director.Way to go Ang!

    • Emma says:

      1. Olivia, she didn’t say that she couldn’t figure it out. She said that she and Brad ‘got lost’ while (navigating) at the site, so they gave up. There ‘is’ a difference between those two things, you know.

      2. She said it was a ‘wee hours of the morning’ drive. Doesn’t that mean really, really early?

      3. How do you know that?

    • Whatever you want it to be says:

Can’t use Amazon.com but can direct a movie just cause she felt like it..

Anyway, I can’t shit on her for this – she set out to make something and did it, I totally admire her for that – it makes me want to do more.

      • Chloe says:

shes an actress and works with directors, thats her job. maybe shes a natural talent for that, thats a big difference! my dad is perfect at his job but he got lost on amazon so what?

      • Original Chloe says:

Uhm.. and what does one have to do with the other? (I mean, navigating Amazon and directing movies?)

      • deltona lakes says:

And Justin Timerlake can write/produce songs but, admits to being computer illiterate. The fact that both she and Brad are still using a blackberry is a telling sign when most people are moving towards the Iphone. Also, prior to the computer age weren’t movies produced.directed and released.

    • Seal Team 6 says:

You forgot to use the word “concubine.” Boo! I love when you say that, because it makes me lol so much.

Are you feeling okay today, girl? I hope so, because it sucks to get sick for the holidays.

  29. Bermuda Blues says:

Gah, she’s just so beautiful! Her face is unreal!

The question now is: Does Angie want this recognition enough to change out of the black sacks and give us some fashion?

  30. Jayna says:

Contests, Angie. Strong women in that industry pushing past fear of failure and directing a first-time movie are to be applauded.

  31. Changinwind says:

I love Angela Jolie and think she is so beautiful, but what’s up with her platypus feet? Gad damn they look alien.

  32. Ari says:

I am so happy for her – she deserves it.

  33. Ari says:

You know…not to be a total b$tch…but Angie is going to be one of those powerhouse director/producers that eventually Ms. Aniston’s agents are going to try and get parts with…those will be hilarious days.

*yes I went there and I am ashamed.

    • mln76 says:

Ari IF and that is a huge IF this ever happened. How epic would that be? It would be the stuff of gossip legend harking back to Joan Crawford and Betty Davis in ‘What Ever Happened to Baby Jane’. Honestly I don’t see that ever happening.

    • whatevs says:

i bet aniston would be too proud to ask for those roles however not too proud to humiliate herself by trying to become a smiliar director or producer and compete/imitate jolie *snicker* those will be hilarious days, predictable as they may seem

    • Heine says:

Ari: If she does, good for her but I doubt it. Directing/producing take up much more time and energy than acting and she seems to like being with her children more than anything considering her long breaks from film to film.

Plus I think she’d only direct/produce projects that she had a personal connection to (pet projects) rather than being contracted to direct/produce someone else’s project.

And if she does, Aniston would never ask to be a part of anything Angelina would make since that would welcome unwanted negative attention.

Beside that, Aniston is known for comedy and since we all know Angelina doesn’t do comedy (because she isn’t funny), she’ll likely never do a project that Aniston would have any interest in.

@whatevs: If Aniston does direct/produce I bet you they’ll be comedies or light films. Aniston doesn’t get much into those heavy drama, buzz kill type films so I doubt there will be anything to ‘imitate’ nor will she try to ‘compete’ with Jolie in making drama or action films.

Unless her directing anything ever will be characterized as ‘imitating’ Jolie.

  34. nan says:

Congrats Angie!! I would love, love, love to see Brad and Angie walk away with their trophies come this award season. Fingers and eyes crossed.

  35. Emma says:

(Blinks) Is Angie the only actor who is asked “What were you doing when you learned that you were nominated for an Oscar-Golden Globe-WGA-SAG-Award?” Each year during the Awards season there are numerous articles simply stating what a nominated actor or actress was doing at the exact moment they learned they’d been nominated. There is nothing strange about that.

Last year, Julia Stiles (told us that she) had been penniless in Cuba for three days before she was able to access her funds and re-connect with the Mainland to find 40 emails and voice mails congratulating her about her Golden Globe nomination. Actors and actress have been out with friends, on a date, sleeping, got a Blackberry email while out with the dog or jogging, on a plane, and even driving their car. How do we know this? Because they’re all asked the same question. What was Angelina Jolie doing when she got a Blackberry email saying that she’d been nominated? She was in the car driving two of her kids to the dentist.

Why is this woman’s every simple ‘normal day’ activity scrutinized and lumped into the ‘used kid for attention’ conspiracy file? Did any of the ‘naysayers’ really not consider that she gave all that information because she was ‘asked,’ just like everyone else has or will be asked regarding their nomination? Geez.

    • Micki says:

Ah, well, if someone cannot bitch about her feet, her bony arms, sack dresses, sunglasses at night and so on it HAS to be about her normalcy. It’s so abnormal you know to run chores when you have staff and let’s not start about the nannies.

I peronally respect the way she lives her life and especilly that she doesn’t give a d*mn about THAT type of criticism.

  36. lily says:

Well deserve recognitions. Congrats to Angelina and Brad. To all those who have nothing nice to say i.e. @Turd Furgessen and Olivia Says . Say nothing at all. It just shows your ignorance and hateful self.

  37. Susan says:

    Oh please!

Is it exciting that a female director was nominated – yes. Is it exciting that a story about how women were treated badly and the outcome of that being acknowledged good – yes.

But really Angie – did you have to do it. Did you have to act like you are surprised that it was nominated when you have been campainging now for at least a month. You have worked hard for this – acknowledge and be proud. Don’t pretend that it came out of the blue.

And what is with taking her kids to the dentist. She does know doesn’t she that it was 230 in the morning in the west when these were announced. That is what I really dislike about her – the dishonesty.

    • mln76 says:

Uhm I have no idea what she was doing or what she wasn’t but I know it wasn’t 2:30 in the morning when the awards were announced. It was around 8:45 am in NY so that’s about 5:45 am in LA. Continue with the rant.

    • Josephina says:

Angie has received at least 79 nominations as a film actress during her career …. and she is only 36 years old!!!!! Wow!!!!

We know why she is the highest paid and most influential actress in Hollywood.

Beauty, brains, talent, huge worldwide appeal and fanbase, sexy, a hot man, beautiful babies and TONS of recognized accomplishments from her work as an actress…and now as a writer, director and producer… no wonder there are so many haters!!!

If you can’t beat Angie…go scream at the ocean…or find a bitchy friend like Chelsea Handler that is guaranteed to keep good men away. Or try to be relevant to your society.

I wonder what she will accomplish in the next ten years.

Congrats Angie! Once again, she is making it rain! Too proud as a fan of such an extraordinary, beautiful, talented and hard-working woman.

    • paranormalgirl says:

She would have had to have been considerably farther west than LA if it was 2:30 am when the noms were announced.

  38. lucy2 says:

Glad to see more female directors getting nominations. I’m not a fan of her or her acting, but she may turn out to be a good director.
I do think many actors and filmmakers who do movies like this have awards in the back of their mind, but then have to show some modesty when the nominations happen.

  39. E says:

I read somewhere that the Stanley Kramer thing is a big f–king deal, perhaps more so than the Golden Globes. The globes are a lot about politics, but the Stanley Kramer one is straight forward and doesn’t care who the director is or the stars.

  40. Cerulean says:

Good for her. Glad to see her living a substantive life. She is proud of her accomplishment and it’s very sweet to see. Of course she has to sell it and should try to get the film exposure. It’s her job.

  41. samira677 says:

@Kaiser: I had to laugh at your comments. For months you’ve been saying that ITLOBAH was going to be horrible and one of the biggest disasters of all time. I’m surprised nobody has called you out on your change of tune.

I doubt this movie is going to be a hit. The subject and a no-name cast will really hurt the film. I think if it makes back its budget it should be considered a hit. I say “should” because when it comes to Angelina all of her films get called bombs eventhough most made around $300 million. I don’t think this film can be Oscar nominated. I believe the Oscars have “Foreign Film” whereas the Golden Globes had “Foreign Language”. I think most awards are “Foreign Film” so I don’t see many nominations. I think it says a lot that the Producers Guild decided to honor it. I doubt they would recognize a horrible film.

  42. samira677 says:

Do the haters realize how hypocritical they are? Everything Angelina does is bashed eventhough everybody else does the same thing. Nobody went ballistic when Clint Eastwood did Letters From Iwo Jima mostly in Japanese. For every awards nomination the stars are always asked what they were doing when they heard. Why the haters are so disgusted that Angelina does it is baffling.

  43. imabrat says:

I’d say congratulations but I can’t stand it when someone acts coy, “oh my! moi?”

  44. sandy#1 says:

Well, CONGRAULATION ANGIE!!!!!!! well done and well deserved, the different between angie and ?.. angie is actually talented, not afraid to get out of her comfort zone, she has substance, a quality person, the other person, well…not, Nada, nothing, superficial, fake everything, can’t act, not pretty, phony, uses others to stay relevant, now, stop comparing these two, one is beautiful, talented, intelligent, real, beautiful man and family, caring, sweet, well rounded,(jolie) the other well..not….buying awards?,insulting the general public, please, just go away.

  45. Shay Kay says:

“While I was driving my very worldly children to the dentist but before I was quarantined in my French boudoir for my debilitating but very productive flu I received a call on a very technical piece of electronics that I don’t quite understand called the cella phona and discovered that I had without even trying managed to be nominated for a Golden Globe. Of course I told the one person who I can really talk to, my only friend, and the One I want to impress, otherwise known as Brad Pitt, that I’d be home to “celebrate”, if you know what I mean (giggle, giggle) because we’re too boring to go out but not really boring if you know what I mean (giggle, giggle).” All hail St. Angie master of the media!

    • Original Chloe says:

Okay, this actually made me chuckle. Does it mean I have to give back my Jolie fangirl badge? 🙁

Except Jolie doesn’t really do giggles, you know, it’s that other ..uh, actress, the high school darling who also hugs a lot from behind.

      • Shay Kay says:

You definitely get to keep you fangirl badge and I’d even nominate you to receive a new badge …THE NOMINEE FOR ANGELINA FANGIRL THAT STILL HAS A GREAT SENSE OF HUMOR IS ORIGINAL CHLOE!
Seriously glad you got a chuckle as that was the whole point of it!Love it when someone can laugh at themselves and everybody else!

    • mary jane says:

Oh my gosh….why can’t I be this smart?
Lol… well done Shay. Couldn’t agree more.

    • blouson says:

EXACTLY! The girl works HARD for her image.

  46. Shannon says:

It’s very simple – she doesn’t care how much money this movie makes. Why would she care how many sales there are? It’s her project. She financed it (and she’s richer than God). She likely didn’t expect to make the money back. She’s stunned it’s garnered so much aplomb from critics.

  47. hatekyle says:

Someone forgot that Marley and Me also got an acting nomination…unfortunately it was Marley!

  48. tmbg says:

I don’t know, I might actually believe that she didn’t expect any awards. This movie seems like it was a labor of love for her and a way to raise awareness of what goes on in the world, and anything outside of that would be just a huge bonus.

It is an accomplishment to take on such a huge project and see it through to completion. She’s probably proud of that alone.

  49. DeeVine says:

“This can’t be, I never expected this”. She should have said this when they nominated her for the “Tourist”!

This movie was meant to win awards, releasing it during awards season, heavy promos etc. If the movie is great, well done to her, but please tone down the false modesty.

  50. Courtney says:

um golden globe sag and Oscar are the highest awards a film can receive in this country and not many actors turned directors are nominated for them the last time a film directed by an actor turned director won any of those was A Beautiful Mind in 2002. so don’t hold your breath for In The Land Of Blood & Honey to the last time prior to that had been Ordinary People in 1981 the ony award I’m actually excited to see given is the life time acheivement award which this year goes to Mary Tyler Moore same goes for at the golden globes with the Cecil B Demille life time Acheivement award which this year goes to director Martin Scoresse ironically enough 28 years after Paul Newman who he directed to a best actor oscar won it jointly with his widow Joanne Woodward

    • Cherry Rose says:

      1. Please learn to use punctuation. It would help us make sense of your bizarre ramblings.

      2. Can you ever make a comment that actually has to do with the post, instead of going off on a tangent about something that has nothing to do with what’s written in the post?

  51. MarieJo says:

CONGARTULATIONS ON THE NOMINATION ANGIE YOU DESERVE IT

  52. Bondie says:

Cannot wait to see ITLOBAH once its released counting the days woo hoo, great honour for Angie, for her hard work and also bringing a difficult subject to light but war cannot be ignored and nor can its astocities against innocent human beings

  53. theaPie says:

I’m pleasantly surprised that the movie is doing so well! I’m not sure I want to see it, just because I am an emotional wimp right now, but good for her!!

  54. Mrs. Odie 2 says:

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. The Golden Globes love her so much they would give her a best actress nomination for a home movie of her weeding her garden.

    • buell says:

      Af*ckinmen

    • Cherry Rose says:

Agree. The fact that The Tourist was a horrible movie (I’m going by the movie content, not the box office numbers), and the fact it was meant to be a serious drama, but instead got nominated for a Golden Globe in comedy just shows how much they wanted Angelina and Johnny Depp to be there.

  55. Callumna says:

And Chelsea Handler dislikes her. The anti-Chelsea Handler is good enough for me.

Her expression looks like her dad in the top pic. Maybe it’s the retro b and w.

I don’t like all the chin in the air poses she does. It’s a sign of arrogance which is why the aw shucksing never fits. Sorry.

But the dead on mugging is fun.

  56. serena says:

She deserves it, I hope she wins in the foreign category!

  57. Pat says:

Aw what happened to the very straight forward, honest Angie we used to know?

    We want you back!

    • lisa says:

      WHO ARE WE..

Angie is and has always been honest. Thing is every word that comes out of her mouth is twisted. I don’t blame her for holding back a bit.

She get accused of telling too much now its too little. Good let the haters and such scramble to find stuff to rant about. Which no matter what they sit and dissect every syllable every noun, pronoun, verb, adjective.

      Unbelievable.

She deserves all the best in the world. She and Brad have to put up with way more crap than other celebrities on a daily basis. Yet they stand strong..

  58. LLB says:

She deserves all the happiness and success after everything shes been through.

  59. LLB says:

TurdFergessen tell that to Aniston as she is the only proven homewrecker and man-stealer AJ is not.

  60. LLB says:

Yet again as usual its the loonistons like Kobi that are so obsessed they drag Aniston into an AJ thread. If I never needed a reason to hate Aniston…

I would love to know who is the guy behind her brilliant PR statements and moves.

It’s not just how he writes it, he is incredible- as if Angelina actually drives her children anywhere or takes them to any appointment.

She has a huge staff, including drivers and a fleet of nannies and assistants that do these things.

Even when she has these orchestrated outings for PR photo-ops with some of her kids, you can see there’s a driver.

So that PR genious is really good in thinking about all the small details to make Angelina look good and relatable like a working but also devoted mom who is down to earth like your next door neighbor who would taker her kids to see the dentist and make us forget about how different is her life-style and how they mostly live in hotel-rooms or rented mentions etc.

Then, there’s the part that shows that she really cares about her project and how she is humble as a person (“who me? no way! I would never dream anyone would notice my film… as if I am trying to shove it. Oh no. I am just a mom who is running errands with my kids, what a pleasant surprised that someone decided to think of my film…”)

Her team of PR pros are absolute genious and should get an award of their own.
Also, I am pretty sure, there are plenty of stars who would pay A LOT of money to get at least some of her brilliant team hired to do their PR work.

Just out of curiousity I would love to know who is behind that amazing (and probably best in the market nowadays)- PR machine.

Angelina explained a number of times why they decided to release the film in the native language – it was better than the English version. The actors gave more comfortable performances in their native language and there were certain nuances missing in the English language that enhanced the dialogue and characterizations.

It is an utterly mindless criticism to suggest that Angelina could not direct in a foreign language – especially since every scene was shot first in English. She even explained how first shooting in English enabled the cameraman to know what lines were coming next when they redid the scene in the native language. Plenty of directors have directed films in languages foreign to their own. They have interpreters who accompany them on set just as Angelina did. Just more bogus and desperate attacks on Jolie. There’s the real desperation – an irrational and inexplicable desperation in my opinion.

This home wrecker is overrated with those soup cooler lips!!! Karma is a bitch and she is next in line. LOL

I agree Karma is a bitch. Look at JA, who admitted that she now auditions for parts. Where as the JP’s have films lined up for the next three years.

    • lisa says:

Have you ever thought (I know it hurts but try it sometimes)

maybe Angie is getting loads of Karma. She and Brad have been together almost 7 years. 6 children. Success, happiness, LOVE LOVE LOVE. So Karma is in play. Just not the way you and the other freaks counted on. Keep your nasty rants going. All it has done is make them stronger and closer.

Karma is a beautiful thing.. Keep it coming.. keep it coming.

Who is the homewrecker? Angelina has never been a homewrecker. On the contrary. There has never been any proof. On the other hand, I know a sitcom actress who just homewrecked a 14 year relationship, and has been suffering bad karma ever since she stabbed her husband in the back and betrayed him 7 years ago. Angelina has been rewarded with GOOD karma for 7 years, and the Gods and karma are never wrong. Face it; she is a good decent woman and karma proves it. Goodness always wins! 🙂

I can’t believe she checks her email while driving! How scandalous.

In all seriousness, congratulations to her on the nomination. I’m quite eager to see the film; everything I’ve heard/read about it has been very positive.

  67. jin says:

Ofcourse she was going to get the Globe nomination. In one of her press interviews, an insider made a reference to it before it even came out. So I knew it was happening. It’s all politics and starkissing with the Globes. Critics are panning her film.

She’s a goddess, let’s face it. A total goddess. Not of this world.

Angie and Brad have taken their kids to the Dentist in LA several times in the past.

Congrats to this strong, smart, powerful, kind, compassionate and loving woman. She is one of a kind. Again, doing her own thing, her own way. Someone else may write, produce and direct, but again she has separated herself with some tall shoes to fill by hitting all her cylinders: Tough topic, foreign actors, native tongue in their own country. Loves it.

She wants people to talk about the Bosnian war when they certainly were not, now they are. That is how you use power. Aim the spotlight where you want something to be highlighted. Bold and effective. Credit given where it is due.

What’s next? This is a BAD CHICK and I can admit it. Nothing pathetic and desperate about her. She just IS and DOES. Hold on tight to her Brad. She does a certain Mr. Pitt good.

They live an awesome life fully prepared for their family. Her forward planning is incredible. Would love to hear her and Brad’s talks and plans. Can’t imagine how far reaching it is. She seems to have no limits and can acheive. She thinks differently in a good way, then puts it in motion. Success soon follows. Must be nice.
