Duchess Kate’s olive green Ralph Lauren sweater-dress: lovely or busted?

A few nights ago, Duchess Kate and her husband and her brother-in-law all went to an awards ceremony for military personnel. Kate wore a rather gorgeous Alexander McQueen gown that was pretty much universally loved. The only thing most of bitched about was her “signature” Waity-Katy curls o’plenty. Kate has one hairstyle, even for red carpet events. Anyway, when I was looking through those photos, I remarked on Kate’s figure, and how she was looking healthier. Not so emaciated, more toned and fit, like she’d been eating solids and exercising. Well, I take it back.

These are new photos of Kate and Will at Centrepoint, a charity dealing with the homeless. William is a patron of the charity, as was his mother. This was Will and Kate’s final charitable outing of the year, and look at how Kate chose to present herself. A sweater dress and little toothpick legs. I’m sorry, but those legs are not aspirational. Those legs frighten me. Probably because I remember how lovely and athletic her legs used to be – she used to look like an athletic girl, with toned, lovely legs, and now I feel like she could snap like a twig. Ugh.

The sweater dress is Ralph Lauren, by the way. It costs 350 pounds, which is… what? About $500-550? And she wore that to a homeless charity event? Sure. Okay. So, do we even have to talk about the possibility that she’s pregnant? I feel like she’s not. I feel like she’s not going to get knocked up until well into next year. Someone give her a carton of cigs for Christmas, because she’s not going to have to put on the baby weight for a while.

One last thing – and yes, I’m a broken record about this, but I just want to say it again. STOP saying that Kate is a classy dresser. She’s not. She’s skinny and she has barely any bust or hips or curves in any way, which is how she can pull off wearing skin-tight sweaterdresses and low-cut silk jersey dresses. If someone built like Sofia Vergara – or even Blake Lively, with her “enhanced” curves – tried to wear Kate’s outfits, it would look trashy and obscene.

PS… I swear, she’s doubling-down on the eye-liner. I think she’s added some blue eye shadow contouring. Also: I really hope Kate’s New Year’s resolution is to STOP PLAYING WITH HER HAIR.

I’ve seen far skinnier legs on these….ladies.

She is completely without hips, tho.

I like the sweater dress and how she accessorized it. She looks nice. She matches him in casualness.

  2. Lady_Luck says:

Matches her eyes. She’s very pretty and elegant.

  3. Bubbling says:

Her hair is so boring, but she is really sophisticated that’s for sure

  4. Boo says:

I think it is an appropriate, if uninspired, choice.

As for her wearing a $$$ dress to a homeless charity function, well, come on. Everyone knows she has money–that’s why she’s a patron. If she dresses in some cheapo frock to attend homelessness events, that sends the message that they aren’t worth A-Game Kate, and that would be a PR blunder. She is smart to dress upscale but with simple lines and minimal jewels (aside from Di’s ring, which she is expected to wear everywhere).

    Will’s shoes offend me.

    • smith says:

You’re so right – a few months ago she made a very casual (jeans/sweater) appearance at a primary (grade) school and the children were upset because she didn’t “look like a princess.”

Granted those kids probably wanted her in a gown and tiara, but these visits (if not formal) should be sort of business casual. She shouldn’t try to match the charity recipients in style or circumstance – a patron should be looked up to, enviable in a good way. I think she almost always looks perfect.

Except oy with the eyeliner already.

    • Lady D says:

Neither of them are wearing a wedding ring. Any idea why Boo?

      • Boo says:

Hi Lady D! I know that William didn’t want a wedding ring, so he never wears one. This was a point of criticism before the wedding, but I think it may be tradition for royal men not to wear them…after all, it’s not like anyone doesn’t KNOW he is married! And I could be wrong, but I think Kate is wearing hers…she wears a very thin Welsh gold band right next to her engagement sapphire, and I think it’s there on her hand. It is so thin that it doesn’t take away from the majesty of that ring, so I think it gets a little lost.

    • RachaelColleen says:

I agree. What did you expect her to wear? An opulent gown or something? I think she looks great…maybe a bit skinny but she has admitted in the past that being with Wills and being thrust into the public eye made her freak out a little about her weight. I think it’s pretty understandable…and when she has kids her hips will widen and she’ll look even better.
Also, why do you keep harping on her eyeliner usage? Seriously? She looks fine. It kinda sounds like you have this obsession with trying to make her look bad but you just sound kinda sad now…all these stories about “Waity-Katy”? What’s your deal?

  5. Luise says:

If anyone does not think that she has hair extensions all they have to do is look at these pictures. Her hair is so voluminous. It is ridiculously voluminous. Never in the past before she was engaged did it ever look this full. It is fake and that is why she keeps on fiddling with it nonstop. With the hair, big head and stick body she is the ultimate bobblehead with fake hair.

    • inthekitchen says:

Completely agree. It’s definitely a weave. She absolutely didn’t have this much hair before and no amount of hair products can pump up your hair this much.

All the hair touching really bugs me as well. Tie it back for goodness sake. It’s disgusting as well since they handled food later…I hope she washed her hands!

    • kazoo says:

Yes, I think it’s quite obvious now as well. Also, why is the hair near her roots a dull brown while the rest of the hair is a very vibrant brown?

  6. eny says:

I’m ok with those legs. Bored withe the hairstyle?

Would it be better if she pretends that she’s as poor as those homeless guys and wears outfit that cost 50$?

    • LAK says:

Perhaps it’s the fact that she always looks so dolled up in whatever she wears. She can’t do up, and she can’t do down. His clothes are savile row, costing 1000s at a time, probably more than any given outfit she wears, but it’s the combination. He looks casual smart, she looks dolled up!

  7. Amy says:

Am I the only one who actually thinks she seems to have gained a few pounds in these pictures? She looks better here! I also noticed something–Kate lost a lot of weight before the engagement announcement. There are those pictures tabloids always show of Will and Kate going to a friend’s wedding a few weeks before the engagement announcement–Kate was really skinny back then too. As usual, I like the way she dresses… and yes I think it’s classy, sorry. But yeah getting sick of the long hair.

    • Alexis says:

I stand by my statement that she gained like 5 pounds in this and the black dress pics. She’s like 5’10” so that’s pretty much nothing, and I’m sure she still has an eating issue. If you compare that one to earlier strapless pics, there’s more fat on her arms, to put it bluntly. More weight looks great on her, and she should keep gaining fat and muscle until she looks respectable.

She’s a bad role model for girls at this weight. See, I think the subtext of this discussion is that somehow girls with “curvier” figures somehow can’t be “classy.” Somehow I think classiness is more than having dark hair and being really ana-skinny, but people get confused sometimes, and Kate AIDS that confusion.

I have no problem with Kate other than this. I think her and William are for real, and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with being a housewife. I like her style, because I have a similar classic/boring style. Selfishly, I am a taller, skinny-but-not-skeletal girl (my figure’s similar to Blake Lively’s – except I actually don’t like Blake’s style) and it would be cool if I could more directly relate to Kate’s fashion choices.

  8. Jackie says:

she clearly has an eating disorder.

for her to accentuate her figure with this outfit makes me think she wants to show off how underweight she is….or her illness makes her unaware how sickly this is.

    • Bermuda Blues says:

I agree, she’s clearly not healthy.

When everyone else said she looked great in the black, I looked at her arms and knew she was sick. If black actually makes you look heavier rather than thinner, then we’ve got a problem on our hands.

      • Zimmer says:

I agree. I actually think they both look emancipated and in need of vitamins and food!

      • inthekitchen says:

I think that black dress from the other night was padded and that’s why she looked “healthier” (i.e., IMO, more hourglassy). Her arms looked frightful and I was surprised so many people thought they looked muscular.

She’s back to looking as shapeless as a plank in this outfit.

      • kazoo says:

LOL. Emancipated. I think the word you’re looking for is emaciated.

    • gab says:

      Jackie, SPOT ON!

      Happy Christmas everyone!

    • Summer says:

She clearly has an eating disorder? I’m amazed at your ability to judge this on a few pics. I personally think she looks great – thin, but great. Last time I checked, being tall and thin wasn’t a crime, nor an indication of an eating disorder.
I suspect that many of these comments about Kate being too thin and has an eating disorder comes from envy.

  9. Beatrice says:

She looks pretty curvy in the next to last photo. Overall, love the look but she’s been wearing those same black suede boots for at least 5 years–must have bought a dozen pair. One question–how long does it take to dry that mane??

  10. Captain Obvious says:

These types of articles and many of the comments make me laugh out loud, they really do. I’m sure that the Duchess will check with all the employess of this site before she steps out for another event.
For Luise: I respectfully disagree, she does not have hair extensions and there a many examples of voluminous hair-Faith Hill not to long ago at an awards show. I’m sure the Duchess of Cambridge can more than afford the best in hair care products and stylists. I would be very interested to see if those of you who chose to make such rude and ignorant comments would be willing to post pictures of yourselves online so that billions of other people can pick you all apart bit by bit? How many of you would be alright with that? I find it quite sad the extent our society has-is-still going downhill when it comes to repecting others and in some cases, oneself. Quite pathetic especially when most of those who are making negative, ignorant and beyond rude comments, are usually the first ones who get upset with others, when they themselves are judged. It is simple common decency-treat others with the same respect, kindness, compassion that you yourselves would like to be treated with. If more of us did this, I truly believe our country and our world would be such a better place to live in.
    Happy Winter Solstice!! Blessed Be!!!

    • LAK says:

Actually, she should check with a proper stylist and a dresser to make sure her clothing is appropriate and classy for each event.

Plus, if she had more substance, then we would comment on that. As it is she is a show pony who needs to drop an heir and a spare stat. She hasn’t shown us any other aspect of her we can admire, except possibly her tenacity in getting her prince.

    • Suze says:

Why are you on a gossip site?

(Plus, if you read through the comments, there are a lot of positive ones here.)

    • GoodCapon says:

I’m terribly sorry. Would you like us to grovel at your feet for insulting your patron saint?

You said something about respect: Kate Middleton, who lived like a parasite latching on to a host (Wills) for dear life for close to 10 years, is someone whom we should respect? A parasite who did no substantial work, absolutely wasted her university degree and preferred to live a jet-set lifestyle all the while not doing anything for self-enrichment, is someone that I – or anybody else here – should respect? A parasite whose greatest achievement in life is to be married to a prince – is that someone truly worthy of respect?

      • Bermuda Blues says:

        +1

      • NancyMan says:

My question is “is she really deserving of so much scorn just because she married a prince?

I certainly haven’t had an opportunity to form a real opinion about her character or her ‘value’. However, she and Prince William seem to have a real marriage based on a strong set of shared values. They seem genuinely happy with each other. That’s something rare among most Royals and any celebrity couples who’s lives are torn apart and examined under a microscope for any impropriety.

I agree, based on my limited knowledge of fashion and makeup, that the girl seems to wear too much eyeliner and her hair is long enough to be that of a Mississippi State cheerleader. But, perhaps being a “Style Icon’ isn’t her primary goal.

If we took a poll among the posters on this blog, I am confident that it would show many of us have never truly lived up to our potential. We may, in fact, accomplish far less than this skinny girl with the raccoon eyes even with her having ‘absolutely’ wasted her degree.

      • Stacy Dresden says:

I don’t understand how Kate having Will as her partner for the past decade qualifies her as a parasite. What she CHOOSES to do professionally with her edicational credentials is her prerogative. She seems to mind her own business when she’s not handling royal/PR duties. I say, hate on the monarchy and its ideologies rather than this woman.

    • Suze says:

Nope – you didn’t hit a nerve. I was just curious as to why you would read this site if the negative comments bother you so much.

I read this site because I like the snark. It is titled “Celebitchy” which is a pretty good indication you won’t get uniform praise for celebrities.

AS for the Duchess, if you really care -scroll around and read my comments – you’ll see they are pretty positive.

    • anne_000 says:

@ Captain Obvious – Overkill much?

All Luise said was that she thinks Kate has hair extensions.

I don’t see that as warranting insults at another poster & her comment as being: rude, ignorant, pathetic, downhill, negative, lacking common decency & respect, etc.

    • Luise says:

Captain Obvious why don’t you get off your high horse and stop being so righteous. We can say what ever we wish to say. This is Celebitchy for sweet sake not some moronic fan club of Saint Social Climber Waity who went after Prince William like a heat seeking missile programed by Big Mama Carol.

And The Waity is sporting a voluminous hair weave. Look at old photos.

      • Summer says:

Luise – and all those others who sneer at Kate’s background, and call her a social climber etc – you are all pathetic. Kate’s only “crime” is that her family background is decidedly working class on her mother’s side, and that her parents have made a lot of money with their business. Well, big deal, good for them. And if you think that William wouldn’t be able to sniff out a social climber at 20 paces, much less marry a woman who didn’t really love him but loved his title… gimme a break. Kate loved him enough to put up with having to go through a very long relationship before he was ready to marry – and who can blame him, considering the mess his parents made of their marriage, and the pressure he was under. The very fact that William didn’t marry a girl of ‘suitable breeding’ is the clearest indication yet that he genuinely loves Kate, and vice versa, for her to put up with this snobbery. If its bad enough on a gossip website, imagine what she’s put up with in real life from other snobs.

      • GoodCapon says:

        Summer dear

You’re forgetting one important thing. Wills was interested in women with ‘suitable breeding’. The problem was, they weren’t interested enough in him. So he always went back to Kate; she was the default option. And Kate was willing enough to welcome him back time and time again with open arms.

    • Kate says:

Completly agree with you. It’s sickening how rude and judgmental some of these people are. They feel it necessary to pick out anything negative they possibly can about a person who does nothing (but exist) to merrit this type of reaction. Save it for rapists and murderers…. Really.

    • Lady D says:

Nothing about winter makes me happy, but thank you for the blessing.

  11. Amanda says:

She looks lovely and very happy.

  12. Sasha says:

I think she is a classy dresser. Clothes are relative to the body they’re on. How to dress “sexy” or “elegant” varies on what body you’re dressing. The same dress can look very different on different women and Kate dresses well for her own figure. Just because other women with different measurements couldn’t get away with it doesn’t make it NOT CLASSY on Kate. Skinny girls can get away with showing more. That’s part of the charm. Kate is definitely classy.

  13. L says:

Just because someone with X body can’t pull off the clothes doesn’t mean she’s not a classy dresser. If you are big busted and wearing a dress that looks busted-doesn’t mean that if someone who it actually looks good and classic on wears it that the busted looks transfers. Think someone else trying to wear the clothes that Cate Blanchett wears. Look classy and great on her-would look like crap on someone else. Doesn’t take away from the clothes themselves.

It’s about wearing things that work on your frame. And since she IS super skinny (really the girl needs to see a doctor wills) those clothes work on her and appear elegant and nice.

And if she’d worn a cheap dress to a homeless charity she would have gotten yelled at for trying to hard and not being respectful. Personally I have a similar dress and it’s great.

  14. TXCinderella says:

I think she looks very nice. She’s learning the ropes, so people need to stop being so hard on her. She always looks well put together and appropriate for the occassion.

  15. Azurea says:

    Enough with the sausage curls.

  16. Suze says:

I will say for Kate, she looks very good in a variety of colors. Not many people could pull that shade off without looking ill!

I think she looks good here, in an attractive, low-key way. Which is what I think she was striving for during this type of event.

I don’t fall into the category of those who find her gorgeous and her hair ZOMG SO BEAUTIFUL. Frankly, I see women who look close to this in my little midwestern US town all the time.

  17. GoodCapon says:

She was never a classy dresser. The clothes wear her, not to mention she makes everything she waers looks cheap. She has 0% style.

    • Bermuda Blues says:

She has terrible taste in clothes when she puts together her own outfits. When she has help (like her wedding) she looks so much nicer.

That green dress with a suede belt? You can buy an exact replica at any H&M or Uniqlo. Its not particularly aspriational, its not particularly stylish, its not particularly flattering.

I give this appearance overall a 5. Not her worst, not her best.

  18. Tierra says:

I think she looks lovely. I dont see anything wrong with her legs even tho they are on the thin side. Unfortunately for humans we can not dictate which parts of our body the weight goes to or comes from.
She definitely looks healthier here than some pics from a few months ago.
I dont see any hair extensions but even if she did, who cares. Most of Hollywood uses them too in addition to other fake body parts.
I really think her playing with her hair is a nervous habit for her, she probably doesnt even realize she’s doing it.

  19. Shaz says:

I like her – she looks great here. Nothing wrong with a signature hairstyle either. Find someone who’s actually offensive to gripe about.

  20. erin says:

olive green and black makes me cringe. homegirl needs a haircut. or SOMETHING. total security blanket hair happening.

  21. teehee says:

My god she needs to grow some hips.

  22. Cathy says:

I think she has gained a pound or two since the Canada trip. She looks better. I like the dress it’s not overdone. But I do not like the boots or black stockings

  23. maymae says:

It seems Kate’s only crime is looking “put together”, this is a no win, if she looks dodgy she would be roundly criticized but she looks attractive and apparently it is a crime to look good. Her hair looks great and only other women want someone to cut off their crown and glory.

    • Sachi says:

It is not a crime to look good. Everyone should desire to be presentable.

But IMO visiting a homeless shelter doesn’t require the whole shebang of styling just so you can look the part of a royal.

Sincerity, warmth, and empathy will go a long way in conveying your seriousness about the cause.

Sadly, Kate is all physical and no emotional attributes. I think she’s quite cold and aloof. I don’t see any warmth from her. I don’t see the interest that William displays about the plight of the disadvantaged.

Kate looks like she attends events just so she could go shopping, have her hair curled, and show off her looks for the cameras. She’s too made-up all the time, even when visiting riot victims.

It’s not just the clothes, it’s her attitude, too. Several times she has been caught laughing or smiling at inappropriate moments and looking like she wasn’t taking the event seriously. Oftentimes she looks like nothing is going through her head when “listening” to others. She plasters on the smiles for the media, but when it comes to interacting with others, she looks bored and uninterested.

All she has are her expensive clothes and bouncy hair. I’ve yet to see any substance from her.

      • maymae says:

It’s easy to judge by the photos, I’ve seen other photos that show a different side, this site picks photos that support the overall anti-kate sentiment. Her only crime is that she looks great and she has long hair. But if she looked terrible they would hate her equally.

      • CookieJar says:

        @Sachi I agree with you 100%.

She has good taste in gowns, her style is otherwise totaly average. I also agree with the security blanket hair comment above. Probably her hair was praised all over the press around the engagement, and she figured she would stick to it if it works so well. I’m pretty sure that come spring we will have to suffer the same hair, make up and the espadrilles again.

And yeah, smiles and giggles all over the place at every event, regardless of the occasion (eg remembrance day). If not that then trying hard to look very interested and/or competent, but she is neither.

      • anne_000 says:

        @ Sachi – ITA w/ u.

Good point on: “Kate looks like she attends events just so she could go shopping, have her hair curled, and show off her looks for the cameras. She’s too made-up all the time, even when visiting riot victims.”

I think the Middleton parents weren’t so much into teaching their kids empathy & charitable feelings for others, but to get what they could for themselves by being obsessed social climbers thus focusing on those only on the upper rungs of society.

I think when Kate is taken to events like these, she considers it a necessary evil rather than an opportunity to give support to people there. So she tries to make the best of it for herself by making it all about her photo-op. Conversely, I think when William & Harry go to events like these, they understand that the only reason they’re there is to focus on the people themselves.

I think the reason why William & Harry are more people-persons than Kate is because Diana actively worked to instill this quality into them, including by taking them on secret visits to console people who were in less fortunate circumstances than themselves.

  24. Sachi says:

So…did she go to a salon to get her hair curled prior to this event? She looks like she spent 2 hours getting ready to visit a homeless shelter.

And yes, I know, she shouldn’t have to dress down, but there is a big “in between” in dressing smart but casual, and dressing like you’re going to a dinner party with heavy makeup, diamond earrings, and your hair bouncy, curly, and glossy like Kate has done here.

She looks like she cares very much about her appearance…for the sake of the cameras. She’s very pretty but also quite dull both in style and personality.

Too bad that on videos she always looks so stiff when it comes to interacting with others or answering questions. Her big, hyena smile masks her nervousness and uncertainty when it comes to genuine empathy and sincerity.

William, on the other hand, is very warm and tries to put people at ease. He jokes around with them, and he always looks so kind when with other people.

    • gab says:

I agree with your take on things, Sachi. William seems to have inherited his warmth from Diana. Kate cannot seem to manufacture any genuine warmth.

  25. spinner says:

Dang!! I can’t believe the hate for this lovely young woman. She & Wills look so happy together. I find her attractive, appropriate & well put together.

    • Guesty says:

+1. It’s so irrational. She’s the only celebrity that does not display overweening arrogance and selfishness who is nonetheless attacked on every basis imaginable:
      – her hair, with varying educated opinions saying they know as fact she wears extensions. Okay.
      – her lack of use of her degree (BISH PLEASE! I live in NYC and see that at all levels – women with doctorates marrying rich and opening kids’ boutiques, or staying home as housewives without kids – sing another song)
      – they see manipulation in her waiting for him; I know MANY relationships where one person did that for the other. Not my choice, but not a crime.
      – her alleged lack of seriousness and civility at these sorts of events — I have read nothing but the opposite, literally in every source than the commentary on blog posts about her
      – the body she *doesn’t* have == this is where the utterly fake and particularly odious ‘concern’ about her and wishes she were ‘sent to a doctor’ come out. Come on. She’s not at a stage where strangers suggesting medical intervention comes across as sincere.

It really just seems like overkill to me.

  26. ladybert62 says:

Sorry but I refuse to stop saying it, she IS A CLASSY DRESSER! She never appears trashy and her clothes are never trashy or whore-looking.

    SHE IS A CLASSY DRESSER!!!!!!!

    • bluhare says:

      Yeah!! She’s a classy dresser!!

Sorry, but she knows what looks good on her and sticks with it. Good for her.

  27. Anastasia says:

The hair has bugged me for quite some time.

With a casual outfit like this, it doesn’t bug me. (The messing with it all the time does!)

But when she’s dressed up, and her hair looks exactly the same, it’s a problem. When you have big, thick, long hair (as I did at her age), you do something different with it for more formal occasions. I don’t mean a severe bun, but at least a soft chignon at the base of her neck, a fancy headband, something!!!

Then the bonus is that she’s less likely to mess with it.

  28. JulieM says:

She looks OK in this dress. It seems appropriate for the event. What I can’t figure out is how anyone can look at her and her stick figure and not see that she has an eating disorder. I simply do not see the weight gain. She looks like an ironing board.

I have no respect for her. Her entire adult life has been dedicated to bagging William. That is it. The one and only thing. Why should I respect that. Even uneducated Diana had more substance than Waity.

  29. Abby says:

She looks great and her hair is her signature. I couldn’t pull this look off (booty) but it looks classy on her.

  30. Ssrub says:

Say what you will, but she is dreadfully pretty.

    • EmmaStoneWannabe says:

Agree. We love to hate because she is a Princess (which comes with many lavish rewards) and also because she waited forever on him. But, she is very pretty and conservative and there’s not much to pick on..

  31. Minxx says:

here is a link to the dress with Ralph Lauren accessories.. I think this styling is much better than Kate’s.
Overall.. the girl has no hips and no boobs whatsoever and she’s addicted to her hair – bouncy curls all over the place. It’s very Charlie’s Angels – with her whole “Waity” attitude and lack of interests other than her husband, she reminds me of a Stepford wife from the 70s.

    • maymae says:

What is wrong with being a wife or more accurately a military wife. Will is note Prince of Whales yet, they have time to settle into married life before their primary duties begin. I sense that the Royal family is trying hard to learn from the past. Fergie dived feet first into being a royal and that marriage failed. I see no problem with Kate being a military wife and learning the job as she goes along.

  32. ChloeO. says:

So… what’s the message, here? No one should ever wear a dress style that would be wrong for someone else’s body type? (Re: the comment that Kate shouldn’t wear a sweater dress because it would look tarty on Sofia Vergara etc)

Kind of limiting. I guess I’m going out naked today.

    • theaPie says:

I tend to wear tighter things to show off the few curves I’ve got. Women like Sofia Vergara don’t need to try as hard.

I think to say that she’s not a “classy dresser” because the dresses she choses would look slutty on someone with a more voluptuous body type is pretty ridiculous. Isn’t knowing your body type and what looks good on it 80% of being fashionable? Give her credit for knowing the right size/cut to suit her body type. She dresses in a style that I find rather boring but I definitely agree that it is classic and appropriate for someone in her position.

  34. Kaiser says:

Re: “Classy dressing”. She’s wearing a skin-tight sweater dress, and she favors low-cut, clingy silk jerseys. She dresses like a Real Housewife, but since she doesn’t have any curves and she’s not showing off anything, people think it’s “classy”. It’s not.

    • kazoo says:

I know what you mean. Girls with no T&A can get away with wearing low-cut, tight, and/or short clothes without being called slutty or inappropriate. Not fair!

    • TheOriginalKitten says:

Oh come on Kaiser-even you can admit that some celebs can pull off certain looks that others cannot. You make it sound like she’s wearing leopard-print dresses from Forever 21.
On another note, are you guys going to feature some Xmas Dong tomorrow? Some Holiday Hot Guy Friday?

    • Sara says:

Yeah, I totally agree. Kate is NOT sexy. When she wears something low cut, tight or short the first thing anyone notices is how thin she is. She looks so boyish I can hardly believe men are attracted to her. No boob, booty or hips? I think if she cut her hair she’d look like a boy.

  35. Christine says:

Kate at it again, running her fingers through her hair. Annoying.

  36. janie says:

she is expected to look put together. if she didn’t look nice, it would seem disrespectful to her guests. she cant roll in in running shoes people.
i think she looks beautiful, although she does seem to have an eating disorder. but with so many people scrutinizing her every move, little wonder.

  37. Embee says:

With brown boots and belt, a tweed blazer and her hair pulled into a low, soft ponytail this would have been gorgeous. Here she looks like she is displaying the results of her eating disorder, for praise.

And the hair is just awful. She looks like she is participating in a hair-growing contest. She needs to remove at least 6 inches.

She presents herself in an immature manner, and lacks sophistication. Her enthusiastic conformation with patriarchical beauty standards (ridiculously long hair, ridiculously thin body) indicate a lack of substance. It would be pitiable in a college student, laughable in a Real Housewife, but on Catherine it is pathetic.

    • maymae says:

Women seem to hate other women with long hair, what does this have to do with patriarchy, maybe she just likes her hair long as opposed to short. Not getting the hate.

      • Embee says:

I don’t hate her; I don’t know her. I don’t hate long hair; I find it pretty. I don’t expect her to wear short hair (she hasn’t got the bone structure for it), but I believe that her hair is too long (it overwhelms her) and it contributes to her looking juvenile and silly.

The reason that long hair = patriarchy is that (on the whole) men = short hair; ergo women = long hair because in the patriarchy it is essential to always differentiate, in whatever manner possible, the men from the non-men. My point about her “enthusiastic participation” is that not only does she wear her hair long, but she wears it ridiculously, unflatteringly long, indicating that she is willing to dedicate much time, energy and resources to conform. By comparison, a less involved coif indicates that the person serves a purpose other than decoration.

Catherine is an ornament, even whilst ostensibly performing charitable acts.

      • maymae says:

I still don’t get it, Angelina Jolie has the same lovely hair and is a humanitarian. Once Kate gets her bearings and finds her calling I think she will be fine with long or short hair. I personally think it looks great and hope she does’nt cut it because women hate it.

      • Embee says:

I actually think that’s Angelina’s schtick. She creates a tension between being patriarchy-compliant and non-compliant, (among other dichotomies) and that makes her intriguing, controversial and polarizing.

      • Minxx says:

I don’t hate her or envy her hair at all – I too have long-ish hair that’s very thick and one of my best features. But she looks like it’s her main focus, her pride and glory. I take issue not so much with the length but with the very juvenile curls-she looks like a shampoo commercial from 1979 and it’s clear she spends all kinds of hours on it. Princess Letizia of Spain has gorgeous hair but it’s not overhelming. Princess Victoria has long, thick hair.. but never wears it loose. When I see Angelina Jolie, I don’t think “wow.. look at that hair!” -simply because Angelina has so much else going on and the hair is never overly styled. Catherine’s hair just screams “wallflower”.. whose only goal in life is to please a man (her excessive thinness has something to do with it as well) and nothing else. Not that there is anything wrong with ‘just being a wife”.. just disappointing she’s so vapid.

    • maymae says:

So Kate’s problem is that her hair is too pretty? And that she should not do normal maintenance such as combing, washing the occasional touch up at the salon, what Kate is doing is normal. All women have that one feature they love even saints like Angelina….the woman saves the world and looks fly. As for Kate she will find her way just as Angelina found her way from fameHO making out with Billy Bob to Mom, spouse and activist. We women are so hard on each other, but hey whatever boosts the esteem.

  38. KsGirl says:

I’m not wild about the dress – I think Kate is an extremely conservative (I prefer that word to ‘classy’) dresser – I also don’t think she has much choice. Yes, that dress is the type that can only be worn by the very narrow…but she IS very narrow. It’s funny, as soon as I saw the pics I thought ‘damn, that dress would NOT look like that on me – it would turn me into a giant walking boobs-and-ass monster’.

And no, still not really getting the dislike. I don’t really care whether or not she has extensions or how she does her eyemakeup (eyeliner overkill, ITA), I care whether or not she’s a bitch. And she seems to be doing very well in her role, so far. I’m actually kind of impressed. I would have effed it up 2 days in and gotten myself papped with my granny panties showing or something.

  39. anne_000 says:

I think her outfit is too much for the event she’s attending. I think it’s because she’s not conforming to what William is wearing, which is more casual. And why did William wear what he did? Because as another poster reminded ppl at another site, Diana would wear casual clothes to go out with her boys at night to visit homeless ppl living on the streets. She wouldn’t go wearing a $500+ outfit to do so. This is why William is dressed like that. He & his mother know/knew how to dress appropriately.

If Kate is confused about what style to wear, then she should consult her husband who’s been doing this all his life.

And yes, as someone else here said she was criticized for wearing something like jeans & a sweater to a school event (where she made the kids wait outside in the hot sun in the parking lot for 45 minutes cuz she was late & didn’t call to inform them she’d be late), but that was stupid of her too. She should have worn a dress. And William isn’t wearing jeans to this homeless charity event either. It’s more of a dressy corduroy, if I’m correct.

She should have worn a simple skirt with a light-colored or blue top. Not something that costs about one month’s worth of rent to a homeless shelter, especially since she doesn’t really earn anything she wears.

When considering what clothes to wear, she should ask herself what would Diana have worn or look at what William is wearing.

    • maymae says:

Diana usually wore Versace and expensive suits whether she was visiting the homeless, aids patients or meeting the President.

      • anne_000 says:

@ maymae – I respectfully have to disagree as my memories of her seem to be different from yours. 🙂

      • maymae says:

The majority of official engagements Diana was dressed wonderfully, she dressed down after her divorce but there are photos of Diana feeding children in Africa dressed in a lovely dress or suit. There are photos of her visiting Mother Theresa is a classy suit.

      • Gine says:

Yeah, people’s selective memories about what a saint Diana was are the funniest thing to me about the Kate hate. Diana’s charity work was admirable, but she was just as much an upper-class leech as all the royals are, and she was completely obsessed with her looks.

      • anne_000 says:

@ maymae – Again, we have different memories.

@ Gine – “Selective memories” can work both ways. You have yours, I have mine. It’s all good.

      • maymae says:

Diana in the Bronx w Mother Theresa:

Don’t know the designer but whether rich or poor its not a pair of jeans and a white shirt.

Diana in Pakistan dressed in a lovely pantsuit comforting a child: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UqPwex7cCmM

Diana meeting leprosy patients in a lovely dress:
        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYQ9PyxS8Ow

these are examples of Diana on official visits to hospitals, etc on par to Kate visiting a homeless shelter and she is dressed in lovely clothing probably designer. While on unofficial business similar to Kate’s visit to the school she dressed more casual.

      • anne_000 says:

@ maymae – Again, your memories & mine are different.

“Even in jeans and a white button-down, Diana manages to look stylish and sophisticated. Here, she sits looking casual and comfortable after visiting with victims of mine injuries in Bosnia on August 9, 1997.”
        http://www.mylifetime.com/lifestyle/beauty-style/celebrity-style/princess-diana-jeans

Princess Diana visiting homeless shelter in simple black pantsuit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54eau_3R260

I remember stories about Diana & her sons going out in regular clothes on private visits to homeless ppl & hospitals.

Also, the clothes that Diana wore were more orientated to the duties she was performing than Kate’s is, imo. Diana would wear more somber clothes to such places as homeless shelters or to meet victims of such & such. But Kate arrives dressed to these places as if she was going to attend a party straight afterward. I remember her unusual multi-button outfit when meeting victims of the riots. It really was not appropriate, imo. I think William dresses more appropriately than she does at these different occasions. In these photos, imo, she looks like she’s going to catch up with some gal pals later on & go out for the nite.

I guess Kate feels a need to prove she’s a princess whereas William is more comfortable with who he is.

    • badrockandroll says:

The comparisons with Diana are tiresome, especially when they are wrong. Kate and Wills are not visiting homeless people at night, they are attending a centre for homeless people for which they are patons. If anything, William is underdressed. If kate had worn cords and a sweater, she would have been blasted for being too casual. Poor girl can do no right. And $500 for a dress is not outrageous. I daresay that the sainted Diana’s white shirt and khakis (which were also Lauren if I recall) cost about the same.

  40. Turd Fergussen says:

Love it. She has great style.

  41. amy says:

I don’t think a sweater dress is too much. Wills is wearing a sweater too, Kate’s is just in dress form. I’m not liking her black tights phase, but I just think black tights look weird in general on everyone–colored tights in general baffle me!

I don’t see anything wrong with her long hair, though the volume makes her look even skinnier and admittedly, I do wish she’d try something other than the curls.

I hope we still get royal gossip even though this is their last event! I do love reading these Kate posts.

  42. Cerulean says:

The beauty pageant hair is terrible. Her eye make up is terrible and her clothing style is terrible. Her body is mannish and she’s always in tight clothing. She’s not even pretty.
I am also beginning to think she’s dim as well.

  43. Suze says:

A long time ago I read an interview with then Princess Di where she was asked why she didn’t grow her hair out long (see, we’ve always been obsessed with royal hair!).

Her reply was something along the lines of – she had figured out a good working princess haircut that she could do once in the morning and forget, and that didn’t require her to fiddle with while she was performing royal duties. That way she could concentrate on the people she was talking to.

I think Kate might want to figure out a working duchess style. Not cut it, necessarily, but just do something that pulls it off her shoulders and away from her face so she isn’t always have to touch it. Something along the lines of the elegant half chignon she wore at her wedding.

She’s still new to all of this so I cut her some slack, though. I like the way she dresses and conducts herself – I think she’s finding her way along really well.

    • theaPie says:

I wonder if it’s a generational thing? The college students who work for me wear their hair long and cascading down everywhere even into their faces and eyes. They are constantly fiddling with it. I had to put a stop to it by making them wear those awful hair nets because keratin is a major contaminant for us. I myself have quite long hair, but I never touch it and it’s always out of my face. The fact that it is curly makes it easier I suppose.

  44. Victoria says:

Kate does dress classy. She knows her body and just because she can wear certain things that would look different on a fuller figure doesn’t make her any less classier. Her day dresses are not high and not too low. Her choices are boring, but classy.

Agree that the eyeliner raccoon thing has got to be dealt with. She should really work that out ASAP. But she won’t because she is stuck on that.

I can understand why people want her to work. She is living the life off the people and she needs to do something to show for it, BUT I don’t get this censure because she waited for ten years to get the man and the title? So the fuck what if that was her only aspiration? At least she was trying to trade up and succeeded.

This isn’t a Jessica Biel and Justin type of situation. The man is heir to the throne of England. Sure, it’s all fluff and doesn’t really mean as much as it used to but it still means something. This is what she wanted, and this is what she got.

Personally, I think a woman should do a little more in life than wait around for a man to come knocking, whoever HE is, BUT I’m not going to sit here and act like I’m above it all because I’d probably be doing the same thing if it meant an upgrade. Maybe. She kept her eye on the prize and she hung in there. Good for her.

I think she’ll get off her ass hopefully in the new year or at least get pregnant. That might mollify things a bit. At the end of the day people can say he cheated on her and weighed other options, but he did marry her. He chose her and I do think he loves her and is protective her of her well-being as she transitions into this role.

I’m cutting him slack too since he had his parents as examples. He is clearly trying to do better in that department.

  45. almond says:

I knew a law student, now lawyer, who had thick hair like that. She was a natural blonde too. It was like looking at Disney’s Aurore. So it’s possible. If it’s natural, great genes lottery in that family. But those boots are beyond tacky and when combined with the cheap looking pantyhose, even more so. She’s a duchess, can she not afford some golden point quality products?

    • Embee says:

I don’t know what golden point quality products aer but I just got a hilarious mental image of Kate wearing the hosiery equivalent of my dad’s gold toe socks! Thanks for the chuckle!

      • almond says:

I think that would have been too daring for her.

Golden point is a chain of stores in Europe which commercializes swimwear and undergarments. Their pantyhose are particularly amazing because they look very nice and are incredibly sturdy. A pair can stay in mint condition for years. The prices are a bit steep but it’s a bargain in the long run. I even have pairs from five years ago which have survived rough playing with my cats. Though I only wear those in the wintertime, underneath pants.

  46. Gine says:

I think she looks fine and totally appropriate for the event, although I do hate those boots.

And a curvy woman in this dress (in her size, of course) would not look “trashy and obscene.” So much love for for the ladies on this site, as usual.

  47. Zoe says:

Why does William always look like an old man these days? How he’s changed…

  48. Scarlet Vixen says:

I come from a family of thick-haired women, so it is definitely possible that that’s all her hair. I usually wear my hair quite long, and I get headaches from the weight of my hair if I wear it up too long. I cut it short several months ago (had a baby and it was falling out) and I find short hair much more difficult. I can’t just take a shower at night and let it air dry. Short hair I have to use more product, and style it every single day. To get Kate’s style is super easy actually. 15-20min with a wide barrel curling iron, or even large rollers while you’re getting dressed/doing your makeup and then some holding spray is all it takes. She’s not spending hours at a salon, people. Oy.

And I bet Will’s outfit cost just as much–if not more–than hers. Do you ladies know how much men’s clothes can cost?? It’s ridiculous! Personally I think his shirt looks dingy, the collar looks too big, and he looks kinda frumpy. His watch probably cost a small fortune, too. Her dress may have been a bit expensive, but it doesn’t look ostentatious or pricey, and that’s what matters, imo.

    • macrobug says:

Same here. I have always had lots of thick, wavy hair. It looks much better long and is easier to care for. Short hair on me is a disaster.
I get a bit annoyed when people automatically assume that thick hair/long hair = extensions.
I like Kates hair but agree that she fiddles with it too much. Nervous tic.

  49. Lynnie says:

It cracks me up that people post things on here as though they know the couple personally.

  50. RobN says:

I think she looks quite smart, despite the fact that she didn’t get the memo about not dressing in a way that would make curvy Columbian women look slutty.

They look happy and relaxed, and that’s a very good thing.

  51. Kellie says:

She has the mentality and appearance of a co-ed. This is the reason why people either like or dislike her. She appeals to younger women because she suffers from arrested development, and older women cant warm up to her because she doesnt convey maturity. She’s stuck and now that she’s in the firm and every move is plotted out for her where and how will she grow?

    • Summer says:

Totally disagree, not to mention I find it hugely presumptuous you worrying about Kate’s opportunities to personally ‘grow’ (so American!!!). How does she suffer from arrested development? because she’s apparently never worked? I have friends who married straight out of college, and are now home with babies, having never worked, and I dont think they would agree they suffer from arrested development. I’m also am “older woman” who likes Kate so can’t agree again with your assertion that older women don’t warm to her. By all means, critique her style, but stop with the ridiculous analzying of her appeal to the masses.

      • Kellie says:

If you can list 10 things that are appealing about her that have nothing to do with her clothes, hair or physical attraction than maybe I will re-think my opinion. Until then……..

      • Elaine2 says:

Yeah, I be curious to even know ONE thing that is admirable about her that isn’t related to wardrobe or appearance.

      • Diana says:

Yeah! But she did not marry straight out of college did she? She did not work either! She did nohing aside from being wills call girl!

  52. crys737 says:

on a lighter note, theyre both wearing outfits to match their eyes.

  53. Minxx says:

LOL.. Scarlet Vixen.. you really think it takes 20 minutes to style her hair? To get such volume on the top, she has to blow dry every bit of it and then put in big curlers. In order to get the shiny, smooth look, she has to work thgouth the hair when it’s wet, dry every bit of it and then get the curling iron going for another 30 min. minimum. I know since I have a lot of hair and my hairdresser use to complain whenever he had to dry it. I estimate this hair at ca. 2 hours, not 30 min. I remember that before the wedding, it was reported she spent 4 hours at the salon and she didn’t even have a fancy updo.
Kelli.. I agree on the co-ed mentality. Exactly what bothers me about her.

  54. Tiffany says:

There is a picture circulating of Will and a young lady dancing at the event (It’s on People.com). It was funny, cute and showed a silly side of him. Then there is Kate behind the young lady laughing with hands covering her stomach. It almost look like she was afraid to. It that was not an opportunity to be appropriately silly, I cannot think of another. I am with the majority, this poor girl just does not know what to do.

    • maymae says:

Actually Will was not dancing, the girl complemented him on his dapper wedding outfit and Will did the “brush that dirt off your shoulders” move. Kate and the rest of the kids where having conversations and looking on as Will demonstrated his move…it was not a “dance” with music playing.

  55. Dani says:

She looks great. I have never seen a bad picture of her. Wills looks handsome as well.

  56. She looks beautiful.

  57. Faun says:

I think she’s very pretty and appropriate – and Wills probably loves her hair and makeup, and she’s probably dressing to please him (nothing wrong with that).

At least she didn’t pair it with a boob belt, which is what Michelle Obama would have done.

  58. Riri says:

I would LOVE to have all her closet!

She has such gorgeous outfits and they also look pretty comfortable!

She is incredibly thin, though. and they say the camera adds a few pounds, so I don’t know what to think.

  59. Tiffany says:

@ maymay. Thanks for the clarification. Maybe it was just wishful thinking to see those young kids bust a move :).

  60. ruby says:

Ugh, what a horrible outfit. I really dislike the dress, belt and boots. Not classy at all, since if she’d had any curves it would have looked really inappropriate. As it is they show off her silhouette which is very ugly. She is too thin and the wrong shape.

I’m getting tired of hoping for an improvement…

  61. Jaxx says:

I love her figure. I think she is very curvy and that small waist dips in an enhances her hip curve. I don’t think she is too thin, and her clothes always look fabulous. I think her hair is gorgeous too so I hope she doesn’t listen to the “cut it off crew.”

    So there.

  62. luls says:

    1 word:

    STUNNING!

  63. Nymeria says:

So what I’m getting out of this is: If you have boobs and / or hips, dressing in a way that accentuates them makes you look slutty, inappropriate, and / or classless.

How is this attitude any different from the Fifties attitude that viewed women with large breasts as dirty (i.e., not “nice”) women?

  64. crtb says:

She looks lovely. Don’t people get tired of find fault with everything she wears, her hair, her make-up, her weight? Let’s talk about her husband for a change? How about the Queen mother? Didn’t we learn anything from Diana? Leave the woman alone!

    • SEF says:

You are SO right! Didn’t all the public scrutiny nearly drive Diana mad? As well as straight into an eating disorder?
Leave Kate be! I would be thrilled to look like she does – love the hair, love the tall skinny figure. As for classy – does she walk around with all her bits hanging out? No. So why complain?

  65. HoustonGrl says:

I really don’t care how she looks. What bothers me is the whole Geisha/Stepford wife thing. For one, I just can’t relate to giving up all personal growth for a man OR a title; and two, it really bothers me that a woman in such a high profile position conveys this message so strongly (that it’s normal or worthy to stand in the shadow of a man). It makes me feel like society has moved backward. Someone in Kate’s position, with her wealth and celebrity status, has a great responsibility, or rather an “opportunity” to make a great impact on the world. Whether or not she will remains to be seen. IMO, she has not made significant steps in this direction.

    • ruby says:

I agree with this completely. I also think that her losing so much weight sends the message that this is ok and a normal thing to do… As someone who has struggled with anorexia, I know that seeing this sort of person being worshipped in the media was something that comforted me in my starving myself and kept me thinking I was right. I would be like “why are you telling me to eat more, I’m fine ! I’m like so and so and everyone loves them”.

So I’m very disappointed in Kate. She’s in a position where she could be such a force for good, but she does nothing, except show people anorexia is ok. Thanks a lot Kate.

And for those who say she is curvy… Wow, that’s delusional. This society messes with our perception of a normal weight, but at least try to see things as they are. Medically this woman is underweight.

      • Elaine2 says:

        I agree with you completely!

      • Lisa says:

I agree with you completely and the comment above yours — well said.

The people who think she’s curvy just aren’t switched on to the fact that the camera adds weight and that most of her clothes/undergarments are padded.

We probably aren’t going to be seeing any pictures of her in a bikini any time soon.

  66. CJ says:

She wears things that wouldn’t look good on most people and carries it off! She’s a beautiful young lady, her hair is to do for, stop hating on her! She bagged her prince, didn’t she?

  67. artsygirl says:

she should change her hairstyle every now and then, this curls are getting old and boring..i remember princess diana being so elegant and refreshing everytime she attends these events, and Kate just looks boring..my friend told me that in person, kate has too much make-up on and not a pretty sight, she also mentioned that she is skinnier in person-scary thin..she looks like a stick. prince william on the other hand has the aura of royalty and Kate just looks ordinary..so i wouldn’t use the word elegent on her..she’s far from it.

    • Lisa says:

      artsygirl
So funny that you said that — I know two people who met her in person at events on her North America tour and both said that in person she is just skin and bone and sickly looking, surprisingly not good skin and tons of makeup.

  68. Amber says:

Is there anyone on earth that doesn’t know that’s a weave? Big time, unsubtle and in-your-face weave. I mean come on.

  69. cruiz2 says:

I love the sweater dress, she looks great! If Hollywood wore this, they’d get a standing ovation! Classy Clap, Clap.

  70. jani says:

She is wearing a sweater dress and looks hot! A nice casual and sexy look. The green dress with her hair…she looks better than a lot of models.

  71. dj says:

She looks great. This dress (which I want) is appropriate and the color brings out her eyes. Kate very well could not wear much less played down. Here legs looks great but I don’t she gives a crud what I think. Just my two cents.

  72. Jaime says:

She is a classy dresser, she dresses well for her body. She knows what looks good on her and she does it. It is not trashy because she knows what to wear and how to wear it.

Be nice to the poor girl! She is a wholesome girl who waited for the man of her dreams. If Prince William would have married anyone in any less time than he married Kate it than everyone would talk about how fast it was and how he is so irrational and didn’t put in any thought into the woman who is going to be the next Queen of England.

My goodness, there are so many nice things that could be said about her but instead people focus on the negatives constantly. Ever heard of Christmas spirit? This poor girl gets so much criticism for not eating peanut butter, wearing her hair up, wearing her hair down, touching her hair, not eating anything (even though if she gained 30 pounds she would then be unhealthy and ‘obese’), eating too much, dressing up to much for an event, wearing the wrong belt, wearing the wrong tights, wearing the same heels over and over again, not picking a charity, waiting for the man of her dreams, and pretty much anything else. She is gorgeous, wholesome, and a wonderful person. Get over it

  73. Matt says:

    She’s lovely.

  74. SamiHami says:

As the child of someone who actually DOES have an eating disorder (anorexia), it annoys me that all these armchair experts claim to “know” she has one. She’s slender, but I’m not seeing anorexia here.

And her hair is gorgeous! She’d be crazy to cut it. If anything, I’d like to see her grow it longer.

      SamiHami —

I posted above and I’ve heard she’s even thinner and more fragile looking in person. I don’t know if it’s anorexia but I would say her look is the result of very controlled eating and tons of exercise. She is naturally slender but not naturally skeletal (which is how those who’ve seen in her person describe her).

I think it’s really dangerous when people defend this “look.”

She’s completely gorgeous! Had she not married the future King, she could have easily made a fortune modeling! Her legs are KILLER, and every single woman would KILL for a waist that tiny! She just wore that sweater dress because she wanted people to write envious articles about how she is “too skinny” and she should stop drawing attention to her beautiful hair by absent mindedly touching it, because its making some women want to kill their obese, short fat legged, frizzy headed selves! lol that bitch! 😉

I don’t care what she wears, how long her hair is, etc, etc. (Her very apparent eating disorder is troubling.)

What I think rubs people wrong is how stiff and wooden she is in her interactions with people and the way shes uses that inane grin compensate for her lack of personality/warmth.

She’s very stitled and, imo, cold.

A few selected pictures tell half the story. One girl at the center said Kate made her a cookie for her birthday, I think that was very sweet.

i never had much of an opinion about William or Kate until he came to NZ after the earthquake in Chch. he was so down to earth, funny, relaxed, friendly and open. he went out of his way to make people feed comfortable and he was soo excited about his up and coming wedding it was really lovely to seee.
since then ive thought that their relationship is definately a real one and Kate seems to come across as similarly down to earth and friendly as him.

i do think she is too skinny but she is very beautiful. I wish she would put on a little bit of weight but i dont think it detracts from her overall beauty unlike someone like angelina jolie for instance who is less beautiful because of her weight issues

Yeah, that hair really does look like extensions. I have crazy thick hair and with a lot of styling and product it *can* look like that, but…even without much styling my hair always looks thicker than hers did 3-4 years ago. I could believe that *some* of the apparent increase in thickness is just due to a change in styling, but there have GOT to be at least a few extensions floating around in there. Notice that neither her mother or sister have hair anywhere near that voluminous. And yeah, she is definitely spending more than 20-30 min on that hair (though she may not do it every day, so perhaps it evens out over time–that’s why I keep long hair, I can get away with washing and drying 1x per week, but with short hair I have to wash and style it daily).

Aside from the hair and the eyeliner, I think she looks fine here, a little dressier than William but not drastically so. I also bet William’s outfit cost about the same (or more) than hers: $150-$200 for the cords, $100 for the shirt, $100-300 for the sweater, and ta-da, Wills is sporting a ~$500 outfit.

she looks beautiful, shes not wearing hair extensions for gods sake and shes dressed completely appropriately…
she is pretty thin but if she had gone the other way and gained a few pounds, she would be hounded for that so shut up all you haters….

Best I’ve ever seen her look…often don’t care for her clothes. She looks gorgeous.

These people on here who are making typical comments that are steeped in ‘feminist theory’ terms: You have no idea what a feminist is. You are judging Katy on her looks supposedly as a measure of her “willingness to conform to patriarchal standards”? You are a pathetic hypocrite. You have no idea who this girl is. You are judging her based on a tabloid photo. This is the opposite of what feminist theory advocates. You are using this discourse in order to mask your own bile. If you hate Kate because you hate young beautiful girls that come from money than just say that. Don’t hide behind psuedo-intellectualism. Trust me, if you were really interested in advancing gender equality, you wouldn’t be wasting a moment on commenting on Kate’s hair. PS I have the exact same hair and it takes me 5 minutes a day to look like that. It’s the easiest and cheapest hairstyle for me to maintain. Grow up. Go volunteer at a women’s shelter if you care so effing much.

    She looks pretty and appropriate.

Also, I really doubt that Kate was William’s default, and that other women would not be interested in him, as someone said earlier.

Don’t forget Isabella Calthorpe had her own agenda and wanted to latch on to Sam Branson. So I suspect she spread the word that William was interested. (He couldn’t actually comment about it). It apparently worked for her.
