If this was Ryan Gosling and [Random Disneyland Companion], I would be yelling and pulling out my hair right now. But my affection for Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon Levitt has NEVER been higher at this moment in time. I absolutely love Zooey on The New Girl, and a few weeks ago, I saw 50/50 and fell in love with JGL hard. Like, I want him. And if I can’t have him, I want to watch Joe and Zooey make out a little. Anyway, they starred together in 500 Days of Summer (which is totally worth watching if you haven’t seen it), and they’ve known each other for years. So, of course, JGL stopped by Zooey’s place and recorded a song with her. Try not to squeal when he flashes his dimples at her. Try not to coo when they give each other these absolutely magical looks. Aw…..
Try not to watch it a million times. I already have. I love them. Both. They need to make babies together, like, right now. Anyway, Zooey posted the video the site that she‘s somehow associated with (?), Hello Giggles. Here’s what she wrote:
I have known Joe Gordon-Levitt for going on 12 years. We first met in the summer of 2000 while doing a tiny movie called Manic, where we bonded over a mutual appreciation for Harry Nilsson and Nina Simone and I have been lucky enough to call him one of my dearest friends ever since.
When we did 500 Days of Summer 8 years later, we spent every lunch hour dancing to Marvin Gaye in the hair and make up trailer; we had loads of fun. I hope to do a thousand more movies with him because he’s simply the best. But in the meantime, we made a little New Year’s duet for all of you! The original by Nancy Wilson. ENJOY! I really can’t hate on her (I loved 500 and Tin Man), but dating her (public image!) would be like dating Clementine Krispybiscuits from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind – the first time you go making snow angels at 4am it’s fun, the fourteenth time she rings you up to do “kooky” stuff at god-knows o’clock in the morning you probably want to strangle the bitch.

F’ing hilarious. I believe you’re referring to the “manic pixie dream girl” trope. This term was coined to describe Kirsten Dunst’s character in Elizabethtown. To defend KD a teeny tiny bit (mostly because I love her wardrobe in that movie; I wear berets and trenchcoats all the time), I think it’s the law that every Cameron Crowe movie has to feature someone doing kooky stuff and twirling around in a circle, laughing.
At any rate, Zooey is the epitome of the manic pixie dream girl (MPDG), and the twirling around and laughing and babydoll dresses and 24-hour phone calls does get old pretty quickly.

She goes from adorable to annoying REALLY fast. Really liked The New Girl for the first few episodes but I already find her whole shtick grating. The show has just completely dropped off for me-too bad because it started out so promising. JGL is hot as all hell. God, I love dimples…

The pilot was amazing. I was bummed that Damon Wayans Jr. didn’t continue into the actual series.
If Zooey acted a little less like a whiny toddler (series) and more like a confused woman (pilot), I would like it better.
As it is, the show is called New Girl, but the guys’ scenes are the best part of the show. Some of the best man fights ever filmed since Mr. Darcy and Mr. Cleaver had a punch-up by the fountain.
I love Max Greenfield (Schmidt), who’s like a young Tom Cruise +charisma +comedy chops -crazy.

If they were into each other like that, I hate to say it but, wouldn’t it have happened by now? Maybe they see each other as brother and sister. JGL is wickedly talented but he doesn’t strike me as the ‘throw you down and give it to you’ type.. I don’t really see a fantastic amount of sex appeal there.. and if he’s messing with Scar then maybe Zooey is too girl-next-door for him.
Of course I’d totally love to see them together!

I follow both on Facebook so saw this yesterday. I love it and love them. I think they are just good buds but JGL seems to kind of crush after Zooey, I think. Check out the rendition of The Wayward Wind Zooey did for JGL. So good. Anyway, they are a great pair and put me in te mood/mind to have a great 2012. But I agree, though, Zooey can only be taken in in very small doses. After listening to the She&Him Christmas Album over and over the past 2 weeks, it is almost time for a break.

When they were on the set of 500 days of summer, they made a beautiful video. They dance together, and although you can tell they’re far from being professionals, it’s lovely. I watched it a hundred times, and it never fails to put me in a good mood.

I have a love/hate with her and the hate has been winning lately thanks to her insipid tv show, but I love this. They would make a much better couple than Joe and Scarjo, but I don’t think he has anything romantic going on with either one. He’s known both for a long time, Zoe is recently separated, and Scarjo is still in ‘trying to make my ex jealous’ mode.

I’m a bit indifferent towards Deschanel but I LOVE LOVE LOVE Joe Gordon-Levitt. He’s a great actor (one of the few who transitioned so seamlessly from child actor to properly respected adult one) and Kaiser is so right in that he is everything the Gosling projects but isn’t. JGL is the real deal. (Plus, I watched Inception again the other day… SWOON).

I probably have a heart of stone, but that video just left me cold. I kind of have a thing against hipsters, though. They really bother me. I know I shouldn’t judge a whole group of people just because of their clothing and lifestyle choices, and I really try not to, but I just have this instinctual dislike towards any hipster I encounter. I hate everybody, and these two are just so nice. My only condition is that they get married for reals and not one of these sad, too-short affairs where, at the end, we feel bad because of course it doesn’t work out – they are famous people.
