Strangely enough, there was plenty of yellow to be found last night at the Critics Choice Awards. It seems like an odd choice for January, and most of it was overdone to the max. First, we have Diane Kruger in a rare red carpet miss. Diane can usually wear anything and look like Aphrodite incarnate, but this yellowish Grecian Prada gown was just terrible. Overall, the dress would’ve looked better in a solid color instead of pairing a lighter yellow with darker painter stripes along the sides of the skirt. And the blue grey tone of the rest of the dress with the built-in bra cups? Oh, Diane. Then she chose to accessorize with hot pink lipstick and a matching Prada clutch. I’m really not sure what happened here, but it’s like Diane really went out of her way to look bad. Maybe she lost a bedroom-oriented bet with Joshua Jackson? I need to believe that to justify the existence of this dress.
Also, the purposely messy hair was a bit too messy and the hot pink color makes her lips look extremely tiny. Not good.
Elizabeth Olsen (nominated for Best Actress in Martha Marcy May Marlene) faired slightly better with a short Emilio Pucci dress. Lizzie has a bit of difficulty dressing to her body type, and this dress (like many of her other choices) makes her look slightly hippy. Yet she’s showing off great legs, and the hair is just right.
And of course, once Lizzie flashed her fabulous smile, all was forgiven.
Finally, Elle Fanning (who was up for Best Young Actor/Actress in Super 8) emphasized her youth with a whimsical Rodarte dress. Elle is still so young, so she gets a pass for wearing daisies (or are those sunflowers?) on the red carpet.
Still, Elle really should’ve put her hair in a messy updo instead of letting it hang all over the place. She’s got plenty of time to learn though.

Wow! How tall is Elle Fanning?! She’s towering over the grown women surrounding her. As a fellow tall girl, I totally love it.
Also, happy to see Elizabeth Olsen out on a red carpet again. She’s so gorgeous, and since I was a fan of her sisters basically my entire childhood/teen years, I’m conditioned to automatically root for her 🙂
Elle’s was the only one I liked. Can anyone say 70’s cause she looks like a 70’s chick to me!
Elle’s dress is ass ugly nothing cute about it, looks more like curtains hanging in a granny’s house who has bad taste.

I think they all look OK. Yellow isn’t my favourite colour, but that dress on Elle is pretty sweet and age-appropriate.
Elizabeth Olsen has a great body, but those circles over the hips create a weird optical illusion.
Sorry, but Olsen does NOT have great legs. There is absolutely no muscle tone. That said, Elle’s dress from the side looks very nice and she wears it well.
It’s a little on the summer side, but I like it. It’s different.

Ok I’m loving all three! I love Elle’s the most-I’m a hippie at heart so I gravitate to it. She’s adorable.
Big Fail for all three horrible dresses – and the hairdos are just as bad! Buy a hairbrush ladies and use it.

I like all three! Elizabeth’s is my favorite.
Diane’s makeup is awful. She is such a stunning woman but in this pic looks like she is sucking on a lemon.
I like Elizabeth’s dress. But I don’t think it flatters her figure.
I actually like Diane’s dress here. I usually don’t like what she wears. She’s a fashion risk taker but I usually thinks she picks unflattering dresses. This is a rare case where I actually like it.
I also like Elizabeth’s dress as well.
Elle does not get a pass for me for being so young. That is just an awful dress and looks like somebody vomited flowers on it. It’s just bad.
I like EO’s dress. But it does make her look like a potato on tooth picks
You know what I LOVE about Elizabeth – she smiles a real smile, really big like a regular person. Unlike her sisters, who do this practiced nonsmile thing where they just stick out their upper teeth.
Don’t know who Diane Kruger is, but her hair like that makes her look like a man.
I think it must be some new hair thing where you slick back your hair in a bun, and then run a sheet all over it so it looks like you backed out of a bush.
I do not like Diane’s makeup here. I think I read that she usually does her own makeup for events, except for big awards shows. I am guessing a makeup artist did this and it is not flattering on her. I think that most of the time we know our own faces best. She usually looks stunning.
I love Elizabeth’s dress, but for Michelle Williams instead.
Cate Blanchett did this type of dress last year at the Oscars, but much better, that Givenchy dress with beads.
I’m willing to give Elle a pass for the next few years, although she has shown up in great stuff before.
I would have liked EO’s dress, but for the giant circles. I like her much more than her sisters though, no matter what she’s wearing.
In that headshot, Diane reminds me a lot of Evan Rachel Wood.
Diane’s dress has a nice flow to it, would’ve been better if it was all one color imo. The placement of the yellow is, uhhh, a bit odd.
Elle – No, please go back to your closet & start over.
Elizabeth Olsen needs to take lessons from someone else on how to hold her mouth in photos. That pouty lipped Joker smile her sisters do is ugly.
Diane’s dress is really pretty but I hate the hair style! It looks like she just left the gym.
