Emma Stone’s green & blue Jason Wu dress: exhausted or adorable?

I think Emma Stone must be exhausted. She certainly LOOKS exhausted. This girl has been on the red carpet endlessly for a year. Her stylist must be close to a nervous breakdown at this point. These are photos of Emma at the Critics Choice Awards last night, where Emma was once again representing The Help. The Help won Best Ensemble, so at least Emma was there for that.

Emma’s dress is Jason Wu, one of the First Lady’s favorite designers. Is it just me, or do the cutouts combined with the belt form a face? Two eyes, a nose and an angry mouth. I anoint this dress the “Green Goblin Gown”. It’s also the second time this week that Emma has worn emerald green – she wore green and black Gucci for the People’s Choice Awards on Wednesday! I love that Emma owns her (bottled) ginger and wears green anyway – many people say redheads shouldn’t wear green, but that’s not a style rule I like. In any case, I’m not crazy about the dress, but I think Emma is simply running out of stuff to wear, so whatever.

What are the thoughts on her hair and makeup? I think she wears too much makeup for such a young woman – but she’s said in the past that she loves to play around with lipsticks and eye makeup, and I guess she’s still learning what suits her face. With that face, you really don’t need much. And you certainly don’t need blue eyeliner.

Meh. Find her annoying. For no reason, of course, can’t put finger on it… Meh

    • Mel says:

      I can’t stand her…. she’s so overexposed and overrated.

    • RocketMerry says:

Me too, not entirely sure why.
She has a “Mila Kunis” kind of smug expression, she comes off as self righteous, to me. Maybe it’s just an impression, though.

    • Minah says:

Agreed and I see so many people falling in love with her, I thought I was the only one who couldn’t stand her annoying ways/face/everything else.

    • Lairen says:

She doesn’t annoy me…yet. I usually end up disliking the celebrities I once liked, either due to overexposure or an annoying schtick. Like, I used to love Zooey Deschanel but then I realized she just plays the same person over and over again both in films and publicity.

  2. Jaded says:

Dress is horrible, make-up looks like it was put on with a trowel – fail!

  3. JudyK says:

    O.M.G.

  4. Marjalane says:

Sigh. Such a beautiful girl, but when she piles on the make up like this, she looks like the chick with big boobs on Mad Men. (who’s also pretty, but quite a bit older)

  5. Sara says:

I liked that dress… fits with her hair and her pale skin. also her green-blue eyes and her make up blue somehow fits with the dress blue-green. maybe i am seeing too much,… but i like it.

  6. EmmaStoneWannabe says:

Love the green/blue color scheme for her. Btw, I disagree with whoever claims green is not a good color for redheads. The cutouts on the dress are a bit odd. I think her hair is pretty, but the eye makeup is a bit harsh. She doesnt need all that heavy black with such light skin and hair, plus a gorgeous, unique face.

    • kellybean says:

I’m a redhead and I wear green all the time (it’s my favourite colour). I had never heard this thing about redheads shouldn’t wear green. Meh to the people who believe this rule. I will continue to wear green!

      • Fer says:

I agree with you. I think Emma looks PERFECT, green with her red hair colour, pale skin is amazing.

    • MJ says:

I don’t know who said redheads shouldn’t wear green. I thought it was a style “do,” not a “don’t.” I think it looks fabulous. Keep on rocking it, gingers of the world!

    • gg says:

Good grief, whoever said that redheads shouldn’t wear green is not a redhead and doesn’t know any apparently. Redheads are SUPPOSED to wear blue and greens and purples – tertiary contrasting colors. They’re NOT supposed to wear primary colors, esp. Red – red clashes with orange hair.

Same reason that redheads with green eyes look so pretty.

I was also told that you can tell a natural redhead by this: natural reds look better in ivory and bottle redheads usually look better in white than ivory.

      • Lairen says:

This exactly. Redheads are supposed to wear green – it’s a classic known fashion rule. Red is a no for redheads.

    • lucy2 says:

I agree! Redheads usually look great in greens and blues.
I like the color here, but not the dress itself.

    • WorksEveryTime says:

LOVE redheads in green and pink. But weirdly, I don’t typically think blondes look good in black…

  7. brin says:

    Dress is awful.

  8. merski says:

The top of the dress is messed up, it would look much better without this weird black finishing…

  9. Nanea says:

I like the fabric/color of the dress on Emma. Without the cutouts and minus that particular belt it could have been so much better.

Her make-up is quite a different matter though.

  10. Happymom says:

I think the train sends it over to god-awful territory. I’m not loving the cutouts either-but I do love the color on her.

  11. Jenna says:

I can’t get over how much she looks like Melinda Clark in these photos (played Lady Heather on CSI)!

The green color is gorgeous – too bad the dress itself is rather ugly.

    • Trek Girl says:

Whoa, she really does look like her! I loved Lady Heather; she was a great character.

Yeah, the color of the dress is great.

  12. Asli says:

”Two eyes and a nose” Lol! It’s true!

  13. mollination says:

I don’t see the face on the dress at all. I squinted and everything.

I like Emma a lot. I think she is also endlessly beautiful.

  14. Marianne says:

I like the hair and makeup. Not the dress.

  15. Beth says:

I like the dress. Don’t care much for the eyeliner.

  16. Lairen says:

LOVE the dress. The color is absolutely gorgeous on her. I agree though, too much makeup.

  17. ruby says:

I love Emma, she is so beautiful. However I am often disappointed by her stylist’s choices and this is no exception. She could wear anything and look lovely of course but I wish she would choose better. i am not a fan of this dress, it’s boring. I don’t mind her makeup though.

  18. LittleDeadGrrl says:

I think the looks nice overall she is just slouching too much and that’s why it doesn’t work as well. If she stood up straight it’d work better. I don’t know if the dress is fancy enough but it’s beautiful despite the fact I’m not a huge fan of cutouts.

  19. Petunia says:

    The dress is very 80’s.

  20. ANA says:

It looks to big for her. She’s a beautiful girl and this dress does nothing to showcase that.

  21. Jane says:

She’s one of those girls that look better in still photos. She’s not as attractive when I see her in movies, but have looked stunning in still photos on the red carpet.

  22. Zigggy says:

I love everything about this- I think she looks great!

  23. Alarmjaguar says:

Ah, now all I see is the face!!!!

  24. Louise says:

The makeup suits her – she looks stunning. Not a fan of the dress, but I’ve seen her in worse. 🙂

  25. Mrs. Nix says:

She looks beautiful, but I think the blue cat eyeliner makes her face look a bit hard for someone so young. It looks great, of course, but it doesn’t look young and soft.

I think redheads rock green better than any other hair color.

  26. Fer says:

I think she looks PERFECT. Love the dress. Love her hair but makeup is too much.
