Golden Globes Open Post: Hosted By “George Clooney Knows Best”

This is your Open Post for the 2012 Golden Globes, which come on in just a few short hours. Our host for the Open Post is everybody’s favorite, George Clooney. I don’t know if I’m even saying that ironically or not. Although I hate to admit it, Clooney is the frontrunner for Best Actor this year. I’m hoping Brad Pitt and Michael Fassbender come in for some late surges. If Clooney wins tonight and he gives another “Daddy knows best, sweetheart, just shut your pretty mouth and listen to The Man tell you what’s happening” speeches, I’m going to be so disappointed in the world.

So what will happen tonight? What’s our drinking game? Take a shot every time Ryan Seacrest treats the red carpet like John Travolta’s spa? Chug every time Ricky Gervais elicit’s a mass groan rather than laughter? Swig every time the camera gratuitously pans to Brangelina? If Michael Fassbender walks the red carpet and there’s a full-Fassdong camera pan, I’m totally opening my bottle of wine.

We’ll have all of our post-Globes stories and fashion posts tomorrow, but for now, just enjoy the red carpet and the actual ceremony with some like-minded bitches. And remember, ladies: CLOONEY KNOWS BEST. Just shut your eyes, open your legs and let Clooney tell you what to think, sweetheart.

  1. Abby says:

Looking forward to the celebitchy commentary!

  2. patw says:

excellent. Lets bag on clooney for being more upfront about the game everyone else is playing. Including pitt btw. gah – let’s get real – the GG means nothing. it’s a popularity/vanity contest, and nothing to do with actual talent. but at least they have liquor and Ricky hosting…

    • The Man behind the Man says:

Clooney upfront? Ha, he’s a hypercritical douche.

Re the drinking thing for this pseudo-event I say chug every time the audience laughs at something that isn’t funny.

      • LucyOriginal says:

wasn’t it he avoiding his “girlfiend” flirting with Brad (whom she stated in the past she had a crush on)? Plus, they won’t get compared to real couples out there and he can start drinking earlier…

  3. normades says:

Oooooo…wish I could play with you gals but I’m in another time zone and have to go to bed 🙁

Have fun, here’s to a Pitt win ***fingers crossed***

  4. Camille (The original) says:

I hope Ricky does some good jokes this year and that he doesn’t pick on the same people lol. (Would LOVE to see him bag on the Kartrashians)

I also hope to see some amazing dresses.

And I really hope anyone BUT Clooney wins for best actor (but I think he will).

  5. Asli says:

I’m sooo upset! The Globes aren’t showing here!

  6. paola says:

Sorry but Georgie is not looking good. He’s looking paler and sicker everytime i see pics of him. His eyes scream ‘Hey i’m fooling you all with tons of make up but i am sick and on the verge of farting every passing minute’

  7. kazoo says:

i’m watching e! red carpet (on mute).

kelly osbourne is so hideous looking. what color is her hair? white? silver? it’s fug regardless.

guilana looks good for being in recovery for cancer.

    • paola says:

their comments are really annoying, it’s like they know it all when they obviously don’t. and they’re all so double faced, they say nice things about everyone on e! and then they say the right opposite in fashion police, only because joan rivers doesn’t take any shit from them!

    • Asli says:

Doesn’t it start at 8 pm?

  8. kazoo says:

wait. why is clooney there so early? usually a-listers don’t get there until last minute.

stacy whatever’s hair looks like a rat’s nest. i like the color of her dress, but the draping seems odd above the abdomen area.

  9. GiGi says:

She talks! He let her speak!

  10. Girl says:

How in a just universe can GC win any acting awards? He plays virtually the same person with each role. It works a lot of the time but that does not make him award worthy.

  11. crys737 says:

Maria Menounos looks like a banana, and Stacy Kiebler has verbal diarrhea…

  12. Aqua says:

From what I just heard George say,not even he is convinced he will win a Golden Globe for best actor.

  13. LucyOriginal says:

I hope he is right about it. He did a good job at the descedants, but from all the movies I’ve seen the guy from the artist or fassbender should get it.

  14. Jackie says:

i am going to be sooo disappointed if he wins, but i just know they are going to give it to him. why god, why.

  15. paola says:

Kelly Osbourne just shut it already would you???

  16. C.Lynn says:

I’m a big fan of Clooney’s and even I know he doesn’t deserve the big awards this year. In a just world Gary Oldman would have been nominated (and won tonight), but since that isn’t going to happen, I’m rooting for Fassbender.

  17. Nanea says:

I don’t get why people still seem to think the GGs are a legitimate award.

The HFPA has 93 members, and they are happy to bag bribes. Does anyone remember the Globe that Pia Zadora got? Therefore they will vote for the person/movie that pays best…

    • GiGi says:

I’m not sure anyone thinks these are prestigious awards, but it’s a fun night, movies & tv together, drinking, etc.

    • patw says:

exactly! And don’t forget the tourist and burlesque last year… this isn’t legit, so why get all twisted if GC wins an award? It doesn’t matter.

  18. LucyOriginal says:

does anybody know a link to watch online?

  19. GiGi says:

So far this is the night of the ill-fitting gown. Too tight, too long, too low, too high, too big… Blech!

  20. @lucyoriginal it’s streaming at Justin.tv

  21. LucyOriginal says:

@Kaiser: I don’t know the drinking game, but I alreadystarted, had my glass of wine with dinner and now I am continuing th edrinking game with a beer. Cheers!

  22. Asli says:

    Lol, Sofia is hilarious!

  23. Juliesunflower says:

    George is looking tired.

  24. Camille (The original) says:

    Brangelina! Gorgeous.

  25. GiGi says:

Gasp! AJ is killing it! Although everyone else looks so bad, it’s really no contest.

  26. Sakyiwaa says:

    This is awesome!

  27. kazoo says:

didn’t goop wearing laura dern’s dress?

angelina looks like a politician’s wife.
    🙁

    i love zooey deschanel’s look.

who’s more annoying, carson or seacrest?

ummm, why is michelle william’s wearing a headband? same thing with rooney mora with her ponytail. their hairstyles are way too casual.

  28. UKHels says:

got to go to bed now, but rooting for a fassie win! look forward to the commentary tomorrow… 🙂

  29. jen says:

I caught a glimpse of Benedict Cumberbatch woo!

I hope Ricky makes someone cry.

  30. LucyOriginal says:

Angie is on the carpet!!!! Never saw her before with this color, Brangeloonies: correct me if I am wrong!

ps: She seems a bit nervous, doesn’t she?!

    • LucyOriginal says:

I never said that before: They are so proud of each other – it’s a hot couple together!ps: take notes George, take notes!!!!

    • lisa says:

She wore a similar dress color in 2004 Oscar.

but it was halter top. She was presenting

  31. jham says:

angelina soooooo was not having ryan seacrest’s questions. her response to his question about the release was unnecessarily bitchy though, right?

    • Jayna says:

She has never forgiven him for his comment about her years ago. At least this time she came over. I think she realized how bitchy she was and tried to fake graciousness with him as she was leaving.

      • patw says:

yeah i don’t get the hate either. I mean US weekly has printed worse but she plays nice with them. what did Seacrest say years ago?

      • Ellie says:

        he mocked her mother’s death.

      • aprayerforthewildatheart says:

Seacrest mocked her mothers death!? He’s lucky she didn’t shank him, I would have. Here I thought I couldn’t dislike him more for bringing us the Kartrashians! Why should she forgive him.

    • Tiegan says:

scathing! she hates him and isn’t trying very hard to hide it.

      Love her dress though.

edit @ Jayna- I think she caught herself too and tried to make nice, but the damage was done. Humility is not her bag.

    • valleymiss says:

Ha! I hadn’t refreshed the page when I wrote my comment! I’m so glad that I’m not the only one who thought Jolie’s response was snappy and rude. Sometimes I can’t tell if I’m oversensitive about Angelina because I’m still learning to like her.

      • LucyOriginal says:

Honestly, as I non-Angie fan i(f there is such thing), I thought her answer was smart and diplomatic. A tough subjetc at a tough time, as a director she couldn’t be worried (she was telling an amazing story), but she should be proud about telling the story as truly and respectfully as she could.

  32. Marianne says:

Listen, I love Zooey…but girl looks like has sideburns. I needed to get that off my chest.

  33. Marianne says:

Listen, I love Zooey….but girl looks like she has sideburns. I needed to get that off my chest.

  34. Jayna says:

Wow, Angelina’s dress is breathtaking on her. Her hair is perfection.

Kelly Osbourne, poor thing. The grey hair is bad enough, but then to slick it back in a bun, she looks like an old woman. Not a good look. Doesn’t she have anyone to love her and tell her?

All these girls that are in the bigtime red carpet world with George and then dumped later. It’s like Cinderella for the night and then it’s over. But Stacy looked nice. They just have zero chemistry.

  35. valleymiss says:

I’m watching E! Live from the red carpet and as much as I’m trying to like Angelina Jolie, she was kinda snotty in response to one of Seacrest’s interview questions. They were talking about In the Land of Blood and Honey and Seacrest asked, “Were you nervous about the movie’s release?” Now, that’s kind of a vague question…what does he mean? How ppl would react to it? Whether anyone would see it? It’s not necessarily clear, to me anyway. So AJ’s response was, “I was nervous about the people in Bosnia who would have to see the rapes and the violence,…but no, I wasn’t worried about the premiere and the Hollywood stuff.” I dunno…there was just something in the way she said it…like she was trying to point out how important the film in, so much more important than Hollywood glitz and glamour. And ya know, even though she’s *right,* her tone was condescending and snotty. Lady, don’t forget you were in The Tourist and Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Jolie is as much a part of the Hollywood machine as anyone else.

    • pwal says:

Yeah… I’m gonna feel sorry for the downtridden Seacrest. Nevermind that the toothy b@$tard unleashed the brigade of talentless hacks called the Kardashians onto the free world…

      • patw says:

and the public responded to it. he’s annoying but harmless…and no need to be b$tchy in my view. she was campaigning as much as anyone else, so she can’t say she’s above this stuff…

    • lisa says:

I think she was waiting for some snark about her having a “melt down’ in the shower and that is just what he was alluding to with that question.

she was not snarky. but I knew people would find something.

  36. Jayna says:

    Love Heidi Klum’s look.

    Nicole Kidman, wow. Love her.

Sofia Vegaro is the sexiest on the red carpet. The dress is fantastic on her.

    • patw says:

sofia is gorgeous. all those curves. and FUNNY. her vera wang comment made me literally laugh out loud.

  37. LucyOriginal says:

Is Lea Michelle pulling “I am sexy pose” ?

    Argh!

    Make her go away, please!

    • Jackie says:

marchesa dresses are so very ugly.

    • Jayna says:

The dress doesn’t look good on her, bless her heart.

    • Marianne says:

I like that she chose a more daring dress. She went for something she usually doesn’t,soI give her props but…it’s not my favourite look on her. It’s not hideous…I’m just not in love with it.

  38. Bo says:

I forgot is it Stacy Keibler being nominated and George is escorting her?

  39. Loved Ryan Seacrest calling Lea Michelle out on knowing exactly where the monitor was.

    • lucy2 says:

Ha! I noticed that too. She even said something like “I like coming up here because I can see what I look like” as if she didn’t spend all day in front of a mirror.

  40. Jayna says:

    Madonna needs more lip color.

  41. Brittney says:

My job involves watching primetime programming. Needless to say, working tonight is a mixed blessing. I get paid to watch the awards, but I can’t drink along with you guys… or squeal audibly!! Our server’s feeds just caught up with the red carpet coverage… LOVE the red on Angie. Was hoping she’d bring some color tonight. What a stunning beauty.

  42. crtb says:

I really hope GC DOES NOT WIN!!! That movie sucked big time and every movie that he has made in the last five years has sucked. He is one of those people that can just stand there and fart and he get nominated. Very overated.

    • LucyOriginal says:

I respectfully disagree with you. He did a great job at Michael Clayton and Up in the air. The descendants is a good movie too, but it’s not the American style, it’s slow and sad(especially for the holidays). That being said: I hope Dusjardins or Fassbender (hopefully the latter) wins.

      • Jayna says:

I agree. He direct Ides of March and maybe wrote the screenplay. I can’t remember. And he acted in it. And it was a great movie. Talented man.

    • Ally says:

I’m with you, crtb. That bit of “Acting!” at the end of Michael Clayton was a masterclass in smug, lousy thespian work.

And as for Up… shallow that thinks it’s deep. That’s been a theme for the Cloons and Sodebergh for a good decade.

The only film of Clooney’s I’ve liked the last little while is Good Night and Good Luck, and that’s because he had the smarts to let someone else be the lead.

      • crtb says:

The Descentdents – slow and boring

The Ides of March – Boring until the end

        The American – God awful

Up in the Air – slow and boring

The Men Who Stare at Goats – wasn’t worth spending $10

Fantastic Mr. Fox – the book was better

Burn after Reading- – Wouldn’t waste my time

Leather Heads – did anyone see this movie?

        Ocean 13 – Hated 11 and 12 refused to see 13

2007 Michael Clayton – His last good movie! Like I said, he hasn’t made a good film in five years!

  43. E Train says:

Does Johnny Depp have a brouge now? Is that a mid life crisis thing too?

    Or maybe he’s just wasted.

  44. LucyOriginal says:

what’s going on with all these commercials during their speech? really? really E!? Please…

  45. E Train says:

Moore and Lowe: that’s a lot of orange; her hair, his face.

    • Ally says:

A liveblogger on another site said that between her paleness and his hyper tan, they looked like paint swatches.

  46. Maxine says:

So far best looking male in my mind is Uggie the dog from The Artist. Anyone know who designed his tie? Inquiring dogs want to know. 🙂

  47. Jackie says:

winslet and her hyperventilating schtick is so old.

    • E Train says:

Agreed. We get it, you’re grateful. Plus, her dress is too short, huh? Easy access for Rocknrolla maybe?

How has Jolie not smeared her lucious red lipstick all over her white shawl thingy?? More proof she isn’t quite human.

  48. phlyfiremama says:

OMG!! The Jolie looks friggin’ AMAZING at the GG’s~~

  49. sweetpea says:

Angie’s got a look in her eye that says “Yeah, I can take your man…”

  50. Mary jones says:

What was wrong with Paula Patton? Can’t she read? And that voice ughh go away.

    • Marianne says:

Did you see her on the red carpet? People say Lea is a pose-hard but Paula was posing hard. It was down right hilarious watching her face.

    • Ellen Ripley says:

Thank you. I was wondering if there was something not quite right with her. And did I see she was the only one standing when Spielberg took the stage? Did that happen?

      • Marianne says:

I saw her stand up for Spielberg too. I couldn’t help but think she was hoping he would notice her and put her in one of his movies.

  51. Call Me Al says:

Elle MacPherson’s dress is beautiful. Kate Winslet looks good and her skin is like cream. Angelina – finally – came out of her depression of black and taupes – yeay! Viggo looks deliciously hot. Madonna’s face looks good but her arms need more plumping out; dress is interesting.

  52. valleymiss says:

Madonna’s acceptance speech was great. Lol Correcting herself on who/whom, repeatedly referring to W.E as “my film” (yes, she co-wrote it and directed it…but she’s just so arrogant), and of course the fauxBrit accent. Shes so embarrassed to be from Michigan, poor thing. Lol And her dress was smushing her boobs. She looked better the other day in that dress with the cape and the gloves!

  53. E Train says:

I love that nobody cares about Madonna. And good Lord, there she is them with the driving gloves again…is she wearing so she can get a good grip on whatever mercy award (read: bone) they throw her, or to hide her veiny man-hands?

  54. truthSF says:

Idris Elba WON!!!! I’m passing out…

  55. Meow meow says:

um, um, um, Madonna ur not British either and why do u insult everyone after u thank them ur soooo bitchayyy

    • Jayna says:

Good Lord, it’s called humor. Get a grip.

I’m glad she won. That Queen Elton on the red carpet told them Madonna didn’t have an effen chance in hell to win. When they told Madonna on the red carpet what he said she didn’t take the bait. She just laughed and made a joke of it. Then they panned to Queen Elton out in the audience when she won. LOL

  56. LucyOriginal says:

I don’t want to sound snarky, but did GC just had an orgasm when Brad presented his movie? lol
he has more chemistry with Brad than with his “girlfriend”.

He (GC) looked like a happy puppy….

    • LucyOriginal says:

Oh, George. You can hide your bromance…

ps: Ricky has been a disappointment up til now (argh! so blah and as* kissing…)

      • Jackie says:

ricky has barely been on the show. wtf.

      • PleaseICU says:

Poor Ricky. He’s barely been on too and when he is on, he’s so tame. Given all of the celebs that had hissy fits and got all offended over his jokes/hosting last year, I think he’s probably being kept on a very short, tightly controlled, very scripted leash by the telecast’s production company and the HW Foreign Press.

It’s probably a trade off. They want the ratings he can bring but the producers and HFP also have to keep the rest of the celebs in the audience happy too. A watered down Ricky is the result. Sad.

    • pwal says:

Hold on… wasn’t Ricky Gervais MIA for a lot of last year’s telecast? So much so that some thought he got canned in the middle of the show.

And seriously (I can’t believe I’m saying, given my stance on hosts and award shows), but he needs to be more of a presence on this show. It’s crazy that Seth Rogan and Felicity Huffman and William H Macy have provided the most memorable and funny moments on the show.

  57. lucy2 says:

Haven’t watched any of the show yet, just FF through the red carpet. Loved Sofia Vergara, also really like Charlize, Freida Pinto, Kate Beckinsale, and my favorite might be Viola Davis.
Madonna looked horrid, and Lea Michele and Piper Perabo had terrible dresses.

  58. LucyOriginal says:

    midnight in Paris won!!!!!!!!! yayyyyy!

    • Ally says:

Puh-leese, that movie was like the name-dropping version of Purple Rose of Cairo (“Look, here’s Hemingway! And Dali!” Oy vey.)

Woody Allen, now so lazy he’s not just shooting his first draft, he’s plagiarizing himself.

      • Jackie says:

exactly. now woody just makes second rate versions of his great movies from the 70’s and 80’s.

      • LucyOriginal says:

I just loved your comment. I bet I liked it because he plagiarized himself and he hadn’t done anything good in a while.

  59. valleymiss says:

Agreed that Ricky has been boring. In his intro he kept referrin WAY too much to last year…too self-conscious. Personally, I thought Seth Rogen’s erection joke and Felicity Huffman/William H. Macy’s song were funnier and more interesting than anything Gervais has said so far!

    • jham says:

i dunno i think ricky is keepin it diplomatic and still funny. its better when he’s rippin new ones though

  60. LucyOriginal says:

This was the opportunity for him to shine and blow it at the same time by bombarding all the A-listers there. I cannot recall any year where GG had so many A-listers together in one award. Disappointment is the word I choose right now…

    • Jackie says:

ricky is the last person i thought would pussy out. so very disappointing.

i would have rather he had gone way too far and been booed than this tame performance.

      • VML says:

Second that. I watched GG only for Ricky and I’m very disappointed. I didn’t care for any of the movies this year. They were all meh. HWP tricked audiences to watch the awards by getting back Gervais, but only to realise that his arms had been tied.

  61. valleymiss says:

My favorite dress so far has actually been Nicole Richie’s (they showed her on the red carpet). I also think Reese Witherspoon looks awesome.

  62. Asli says:

Did Matt Leblanc just win a GG?!

    • kibbles says:

Who would have thought that Leblanc could possibly end up with the most acclaimed acting career of the Friends cast? Pigs will fly if he wins the Emmy.

      • Asli says:

LOL! I just looked it up and you’re right! Aniston’s won the most awards, mostly Choice awards, but none have won GG’s. I knew he had a new show – Episodes – but I didn’t think it was GG-worthy (haven-t seen it so don’t know). Keep thinking about Friends spin-off fiasco…

    • kazoo says:

      HAHAHAHAHHA.

    • Wendy says:

Aniston won a GG in 2003. She’s also won an mmy and a SAG.

  63. Franny says:

ugh kelsey grammar, you are one creeper dude. seriously. didn’t want to thank your 2 children? that was kind of you.

    • machiavelli says:

Why should children be thanked? What did they do for his career? I am not challenging your opinion. I just want to know. Parents, spouses, I understand. Children?

  64. Franny says:

so I usually read CB at work where I can’t watch videos, so I rarely see celebrities in action unless its in movies. its crazy looking at all of these women (and some men) who can’t move their faces! seriously. julianna margulies, you are 45 years old – why does your face not move? celebrites are supposed to be the perfected human, but you should still be human. we mortals can move our faces and you should be able to as well.

  65. valleymiss says:

I thought Helen Mirren was just joking, but damn, she was buzzed. Lol Octavia Spencer was gorgeous. And Bradley Cooper is annoying.

  66. Franny says:

…sorry for being so commenty…but octavia’s dress is perfection.

  67. LucyOriginal says:

@asli: yes, he did it. Oh, he is going grey too, cute.

  68. LucyOriginal says:

By the way: I have to have more respect for Alexander Payne. Last year during his talk on cinema at the NYFF, he said that (in his opinion) A separation was the best movie of the year (it won best foreign movie at gg!). I could not see the movie during the festival, but I am dying to see it.

  69. LucyOriginal says:

Scorsese won!! my favorites have won so far. Why I don’t win the damn lottery?!

  70. valleymiss says:

Ha! Modern Family’s acceptance speech was great. Sofia Vergara is funny!

  71. bros says:

gah, ricky’s so tame tonight. i want to know what he said about banderas and hayek that had to get silenced.

    • kazoo says:

Probably something along the lines of not being able to understand what the fuck they’re saying.

    • bros says:

and go IRAN! its about time people got to see something other than the constant vilification in the media about Iran. great cinematic tradition and vibrant art scene.

    • M3l says:

He said “They’re probably very interesting, because I can’t understand a f***ing word they say.”

      Didn’t silence the Aussie boardcast.

  72. lol123 says:

anyone else see “jessie” biel’s bling on the cutaway to commercial?

  73. valleymiss says:

YES! Jean Dujardin from THe Artist won! I loved that movie so much and he was so beautiful in it. I’m so happy right now!

  74. Franny says:

Jessica Biel, you are too pretty for that saggy boob/diaper dress.

  75. Ally says:

I’m so glad Jean Dujardin won this — he’s lovely.

In France they are simultaneously going to be happy for him/hate his guts with profound envy.

    • LadyAnne says:

No, everyone loves him here we are very proud of him.

      • normades says:

Gotta disagree. I live in France too and just this morning a co-worker was telling me that she had heard lots of rumors about him getting a “big head”.

      • scotchy says:

i also live in france and have been hearing people are complaining about him. so though the french may love him, they will complain about him becoming too “big”. its the french touch.

    • Wendy says:

Let’s face it, complaining and tax avoidance are the National Pastimes in France. Of course they’ll complain. And then if he doesn’t win a Oscar, they’ll complain again. 😉

      • normades says:

So true. The French love to bitch and moan. *sips wine*

Between Jean and George, I’m team Jean all the way!

  76. Franny says:

what. the. living. hell. is meryl wearing.

  77. bros says:

i see biel is dressing up for her wedding early. gah.

  78. valleymiss says:

Omg The Artist won again! I saw a lot of great movies this year – Moneyball, Bridesmaids, The Help, Hugo, Midnight in Paris, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (well, that one was more good than great) and The Artist was by far my favorite. I’m so glad it’s winning awards.

Btw, Queen Latifah’s makeup always looks really good. And I wonder what Meryl Streep was bleeped for?

  79. Franny says:

I can’t help myself….WHAT IS NATALIE PORTMAN WEARING. she has one of those shelf asses really fat people get. why do that yourself.

also, anyone notice the cheek kiss instead of the mouth kiss? analyze that one, celebitches.

  80. original sandy says:

george won, brad is so cool. love him, it’s not like brad is going away, he has more to offer be sides some trophy. next time. it does not take away from his fantastic performance.

    • truthSF says:

Well, now that George has sucked (a lot of penises) his way to being the lock for every Best Actor award, we don’t have to waste our time watching anymore award shows this season.

p.s. This was absolutely one of the worst GG’s EVEEEERRRRRRR!!! They brought Ricky back just to muzzle and limit his time on stage, WTF!!!

    • lisa says:

      I’m heart broken.

Brad had a great year. And damn it should be acknowledged. I’m pissed.

      done with the show.

      • normades says:

I’m really surprized Pitt didn’t win. The GGs love kissing Brange ass.

Urgh, seriously Keibler is so budget. Why did George pick her to be his “escort”.

  81. Ally says:

And the award for best omnipresence & networking in Hollywood last year goes to George Clooney.

  82. Franny says:

also, Kaiser wants to learn the sport of golf now.

  83. LucyOriginal says:

What a dsappointment george won…At least they showed fassbender a lot (hot, almost dropped my wine glass) and George was abled to “acknowledge” him a bit. But his kissed on his “girlfriend” was so fake (he is kissing his friend or friend’s with benefit if you will), especially considering the other award he won he chose to acknowledge someone else before he did her…he is so freaking predictable and image controller.

    • aprayerforthewildatheart says:

OMG That kiss was SO fake. He should have kissed Brad at least they have chemistry! lol

      • LucyOriginal says:

I know, right?! it seemd he was going to one side and remembered she existed, lol…Their bromance is hot.Makes me wonder if Angie would agree to do a menage with them, lol, just kidding people, just kidding…

      • aprayerforthewildatheart says:

Many women might at least fantasize about it…HEHE! Nothing wrong with that, I love Angie.

    • Bo says:

I noticed GC acknowledged in his acceptance speech Brad and Fassy, but not Leo. Leo looked disappointed. Now that George won Best Actor, does this mean we are going to see Stacy more on all the gossip sites and entertainment news shows.

      • Wendy says:

I got ragged on for saying this before, but Clooney is doing his best to bleed votes away from Dujardin’s Best Actor Oscar bid. He knows that’s his closest competition so he’s talking up numbers 3 and 4 in the hopes of some of #2’s votes moving their way down.

  84. Nancypie says:

I think it was along the lines of sh@& I forgot my notes/prepared speech

  85. aprayerforthewildatheart says:

Can’t tell if GC’s ode to BP was genuine or not. Kind of like a back-handed compliment. Oh and the almost forgotten kiss to SK yawn…LOL!

    • Ally says:

Also WTH was he trying to do during Meryl Streep’s speech? It looked like he was trying to get something passed up to her while she was talking, until someone refused and the camera stopped filming his distracting behaviour. Probably another juvenile Clooney prank.

      • machiavelli says:

Streep forgot her glasses, so she could not read her prepared speech. So someone was trying to pass her glasses to her. Clooney was helping.

      • GiGi says:

Her husband was passing her reading glasses forward.

      • Bo says:

She forgot her glasses at the table and he was trying to pass Meryl’s reading glasses to her. Someone passed it to him and then he try to pass it to her.

  86. xploxite says:

I’m so glad Clooney won he really deserved it, such a brilliant actor.

    • LucyOriginal says:

no, he did not, with all the respect go get some knowledge in movies and acting, thanks.

      • xploxite says:

Obivously they agree with me, that’s why Clooney won the award and lighten up, it’s not nice to insult people for their opinions & believes when they don’t match yours.

    • LucyOriginal says:

I didn’t mean to be disrespectful. In the heat of the (disappointment) moment I did not choose the best words to express my opinion, but I still think there were better performances than his. He is clearly doing his campaign really well and getting people to vote.

  87. valleymiss says:

I would have preferred Brad Pitt to win. He was really good in Moneyball. Ugh Clooney. He’s just so damn smarmy. There’s something about him that just bugs me.

  88. Ally says:

Oh bullpuckey. Haven’t we seen The Descendants a million times before? Every time a father has to take care of his kids in a movie, they pin a medal on him and hand the actor awards.

For a more interesting & better-looking treatment of this same story, check out Clive Owen in The Boys Are Back (2009): a father and his two motherless sons in Australia.

    • LucyOriginal says:

OH Ally, thanks for bringing up the boys are back. I cried nonstop the first 20 minutes or so of the movie and he was sooo far more convincing than Clooney and this movie never got any buzz…

    • Ann says:

      Hahaha! So true!

  89. LucyOriginal says:

when the descendants won, cray cray said something to george and he totally ignored her, hahaha…

ps: not watching the Oscar’s knowing george is going to win…

  90. valleymiss says:

Btw…I think I’m finally getting the Fassbender love. Damn he’s handsome. Freakin A.

    • LucyOriginal says:

isn’t he fassienating? he even laughed at stupid GC golf joke (dump jeausly as*, GC I meant). aDORABLE iRISH. I think GC wished to be as good and versatible of an actor as Fassbender.

      • LucyOriginal says:

I meant to say dumb*. ps: his girlfriend (Vivian Ward Sorry I meant to say Ms. Keibler) tweeted a photo of her that shows she is at least in her late thirties/early forties. I now believe she lies about her age, lol/

    • the original bellaluna says:

But dude’s got some big ole teefs. DAMN!

  91. TheWayItGoes says:

Yay for Octavia, Idris, & Jean!!

I wanted Viola to win more than anyone but if she had to lose to anyone I’m glad it was Meryl.

George Clooney’s desperate pandering to the press and voters is soooooo annoying. He’s like some slick ass snake oil salesman. He seems EXTRA thirsty this award season.

I’m gonna get ready for Mr. Fassy to come over so he can unleash in the sweetshop.

  92. Anne says:

I am so glad Brad Pitt didn’t win! I’m sorry but I just watched Moneyball and I do not understand why he got nominated. His ‘acting’ consisted of chewing tobacco and eating in EVERY scene. I swear Brad eats in every movie when he’s not talking. Plus when he wanted to seem extra serious he pulled out his Inglorious Bastards jaw. ugh.

    • whatevs says:

if this was the oscars they could have thrown him a bone! he’s been in the industry forever and is connected very well. that is why. honestly i like his charity work, and he’s ok as an actor, but nothing amazing. however, in the academy awards worse actors than him have won, like helen what’sherlastnameagain and poopie “i can’t fake an english accent” paltrow

  93. original sandy says:

it’s so sweet how George really likes and admires brad, i like George more. never thought i would feel this way, but i agree with the choice. george movie was good also. cheers.

  94. Jennifer says:

Jolie-Pitts on the loser road again ! Muahahah

  95. Lara says:

What happened to Ricky!? It felt like somebody took away his manhood. Overall, it was a quite boring ceremony. Personally, I did not get excited about anyone. Well, mb a bit happy about Madonna and a bit disappointed about Bryan Cranston who lost. George Clooney’s presence in these awards season is getting a bit overwhelming. At least stop mention the” Ides of March” and from now on nominate him only for the Descendants

  96. the original bellaluna says:

Worth it ALL just to see Morgan Freeman’s speech for winning the Lifetime Achievement Award. LOVE. HIS ACTING. (Bucket List was one of my faves – him, Jack Nicholson…what’s not to love?)

    • Jayna says:

He and Octavia were the highlight of the night for speeches, and Madonna was funny because she gave grief right back to Ricky Gervais. I liked Clooney’s speech also. He is always witty.

    • aprayerforthewildatheart says:

I loved Morgan Freeman’s speech, it was sweet. LOVE Sidney Poitier too, he’s so distinguished and seems kind and amazingly intelligent, his introduction was lovely.

  97. the original bellaluna says:

And WTF is Chelsea Handler doing sitting next to Stephen Spielberg?!?!? Seriously, somebody tell me!!!!

  98. Zoe says:

I have seen George Clooney in person. Attended a charity event he also attended. He actually introduced himself to a lot of the aid workers and volunteers. Nice guy. Good looking, not great looking. My opinion, he’s a nice guy but just not that great of an actor. Just don’t get that people like him so much. Am I missing something?

    • Sakyiwaa says:

      Cause he’s very charismatic.

    • Wendy says:

I thought he looked exactly the same as onscreen when I saw him last year.

      • Zoe says:

He does look exactly the same in person!! He’s just not my type but can understand why a lot of ladies do like him.

    • Jaded says:

He was absolutely incredible in The Descendents, saw it yesterday and can’t get it out of my head, he deserved the Golden Globe and to my mind deserves an Oscar. It was a tough role dealing with tough subject matter and he nailed it.

  99. truthful says:

I noticed that Ricky took out his anger on NBC, he gave them several hits, LOL

is it true that Elton had to be bleeped out, because he was cussing about Madonna?? LOL

    he is hilarious!!

    • Jayna says:

He wasn’t funny He’s a bitter old queen. One the red carpet they asked him about his competition for best song, and he said Madonna will never fucking win and he just sounded like an asshole. Surprisingly, Madonna was in a playful mood last night and when they told her on the carpet what he said, she was very joking and playful about it. Then she wins and you should have seen his face in the audience. haha.

And he just sat in the audience sourfaced all night anyway. He never laughed at any of the jokes. He was in one of his bitchy moods that night from the get-go.

      • the original bellaluna says:

Agreed. He had a dour face every time the camera panned to him. I don’t think I even saw him clap.

  100. GoodCapon says:

A shout-out to Peter Dinklage for winning Best Supporting Actor!

  101. Megalicious says:

Ok so I didn’t understand the Fassbender hype but after watching the GGs I must say I’m now converted.

  102. Monkey Jim says:

That second pic is so creepy I just threw up in my mouth & a little bit of wee came out too

  103. JudyK says:

Clooney does NOTHING for me…never has.

  104. Sarah says:

Six months ago, I didn’t know who Stacy Keibler was. Now that she’s Clooney’s current arm candy she is included in groups of pictures (showing hairstyles, dresses, etc.) with the likes of Angelina Jolie, Charlize Theron, etc.??? WTF!!! If I were these legitimate A-list stars I would be insulted/offended beyond belief. This one has gotten more press lately than the females who have actually been nominated for awards. By the way, Ryan Seacrest is the MAN – loved the way he totally ignored her comment about “this is the most fun night of the year” when he was interviewing Clooney last night. Has she even been to the GGs before?

  105. Ravensdaughter says:

Thanks, I needed that. Laughter IS the best medicine.
May we have a pre-Oscar “Clooney Knows Best” posting?
He is a great philanthropist, and therefore must be a wise man (logical?).
He has (paraphrased) screwed a lot of chicks-he admitted that in Newsweek. I am sure that trend will continue. Stacy will be tossed eventually, although she may outlast her predecessor.
Elizabetta was so much more fun!-oh, the potential for ridicule!-than Stacy is. But Stacy is much more docile than Elisabetta, she dresses up just the way George tells her to, and she is much more “girly” despite her occupation than Elisabetta was.
