Jessica Simpson preggo cravings include buttered Pop Tarts, everything with sugar

These are some new photos of Jessica Simpson out with Eric Johnson last night. They were in LA to celebrate Papa Joe’s birthday. I still think Jessica is a really cute pregnant girl, and I like her maternity styles thus far – she looks really comfortable for the most part, and even though these are still photos, I can feel her waddle. Can’t you?

As for how Jessica is carrying and how she’s due in the Spring (!!) and how big she already is… you know this isn’t a pillow pregnancy, right? This girl is EATING. Jessica recently discussed her pregnancy cravings:

Jessica Simpson’s tastes are quite different now that she’s eating for two.

“I had a buttered Pop Tart this morning,” the pregnant 31-year-old tells Extra. “I’m eating a lot of stuff that I ate in my childhood. Kraft Mac n’ Cheese, Pop Tarts, Cap’n Crunch. Everything’s filled with sugar.”

The Fashion Star mentor adds that she isn’t afraid to “give in to my cravings. “I’m like, ‘Yeah, I can do it. We’ll worry about the rest afterwards.'”

Luckily, Simpson hasn’t experienced any morning sickness. “Everybody comes up to me and asks me, ‘How’s the nausea?’ and I’m like, ‘I don’t have any!'” the singer says, though she’s “definitely eating a lot of Tums — I have the reflux and acid going on.”

Due later this year, Simpson says she and fiance Eric Johnson, 32, still don’t know the sex of their baby. “I feel like it’s already going to be a shock. Like, ‘Whoa! I just pushed that out!’ You know?”

The couple has some names that they’re “throwing around” but Simpson says they’re keeping them “on the down low” for now.

[From Us Weekly]

LOL at “Whoa! I just pushed that out!” Jessica is so funny. Even when she’s not trying to be. As for Jessica’s sugar-filled pregnancy – well, I’m not going to judge her. If her doctors say she’s fine, good for her. As for baby names, I’m guessing Jessica will go more traditional, don’t you? She’ll go biblical for a boy, like Noah or Peter or something. Something flowery for a girl, I think.

Also – Jessica tweeted the photo below with a message about a bachelorette party. THIS is what Jess wears to bachelorette parties.

Hope she has a healthy baby

  2. Asli says:

That’s not Jessica. The hair’s too dark. Hope Jess has a healthy little baby 🙂 I’m actually starting to think she’s having twins…

    • Franny says:

I agree. I think that is her friend..Cacee? Her assistant/friend that is with that guy from Scrubs.

Plus there aren’t enough boobs in that picture. I’m sure those suckers are out of control now with the pregnancy.

  3. mew says:

With all the garbage and sugar she’s eating, it’s a miracle if she doesn’t have diabetes knocking on her door. Sugar and fat are not things that healthy baby would need, vitamins and nutrients would be. She’s being just selfish, having an excuse to indulge without any limits. It has nothing to do with pregnancy.

    • AlaskaJoey says:

I was just about to say, I hope she’s been tested for gestational diabetes. My SIL had it, and she’s not even someone who overindulges in sugar.

    • MsCatra says:

I was thinking the same thing on the GD. Also…buttered PopTarts? Gross. This preggo lady ate a multigrain english muffin with peanut butter for breakfast, and a spinach salad and an apple for lunch. I know you have cravings and I’m lucky to not be in that boat, but doesn’t she care at all about giving her child and her body proper nutrients?

      • Remote Control says:

        Wow! You’re so awesome.

      • Vesper says:

I agree. As a pregnant woman Jessica has an obligation to eat healthy and to not go overboard with cravings that include nothing but overprocessed junk food. I read an earlier article in which Jessica admitted she covers non sugary food with lots of salt.

    • Megan says:

Overindulgence of sugar does not cause gestational diabetes. In all women, the hormones released by the placenta cause blood sugar levels to rise. In most women, the body adjusts the insulin levels accordingly. In some women, however, the insulin levels do not adjust, thus leading to elevated blood sugar and gestational diabetes. Only in type 2 diabetes is diet considered a factor, and even then, it is not solely sugar consumption, but rather overall weight, diet, and fitness. Even then, people can develop type 2 diabetes being active and having a normal weight. Being both a type 1 diabetic and a diabetes researcher, I do my best to inform people of the misconceptions about diabetes, because until these misconception are cleared up in the general population, diabetes will not be truly understood as a disease.

  4. Redheadwriter says:

She’s definitely got a baby in there! However she isn’t putting on fat; her face/chin aren’t flowing over one another, her legs aren’t looking like cinder blocks, so I think she’s doing great. The girl’s not tall so basically the baby has to be right there!

    • Zelda says:

      Disagree about the legs…

    • Diana says:

I still thinks she’s one of the most gorgeous pregnant women ever.

As for the cravings, I doubt that’s ALL she eats. I know pregnant women who have eaten pretty bad throughout their pregnancy and both mother and child are fine.

    • Vesper says:

I disagree as well. While it is not obvious in these pics, in other pics Jessica’s butt is just as large as her bump. I think she is gaining too much weight everywhere.

  5. fabgrrl says:

Craving sugar = having a girl.

    • for real? says:

when i was pregnat all i wanted was sweet things, i remember eating whole cakes( paid for it later was 130 went up to 200 took me 4 months to loose all that weight, god bless breast feeding) and I had a girl!!!!!

      • Sunshine says:

Wow I have never heard that! I didn’t crave sugar at all when I was pregnant (hot sauce and tomatoes were mine) and I had a girl. But now I have a toddler who doesn’t really like sugar or “kid” foods but loves raw red onions, oysters, black coffee and all sorts of other “adult” foods. The one food she hates? Gatorade. I guess it’s just an individual thing. I wouldn’t ever touch hot sauce and loathed tomatoes before I got pregnant so I guess babies want what they want.

      • fabgrrl says:

It’s an old wives’ tale. Personally, I think we should give more credit to “old wives”. After all, back in the day, who do you think the midwives were? Older, married women, that’s who.

Indeed, when I was pregnant with my little girl, I wanted sweet. When pregnant with my little boy, I wanted salty and savory.

      • OriginalTiffany says:

Let me preface this by saying I love sweets.

With my girl, the thought of anything sweet made me throw up. The horror! All steak, cheese and milk.

With the boy, Nothing really bugged me or really stands out. I was an all opportunity healthy eater.

      • Stellax2 says:

I can’t speak for myself but my sister recently gave birth to my niece!!!! My sister craved fruit and ate a great deal of throughout her pregnancy. She told me that babies normally like what mother’s crave during pregnancy? I do not know if this is true but my sister is a school teacher, healthy eater and plans to pass her eating habits along to my niece!!!
Sorry, I love my niece!!! I’m unable to have kids so I live voraciously through my niece.

  6. I.want.shoes says:

Jessica’s only cravings are for a Weight Watchers’ $$$ deal for losing the pregnancy weight.

  7. brin says:

She looks good, but pregnant or not, she needs to stay off the “Paula Deen” menu.

    • Samigirl says:

YES! Gestational diabetes is a BIG deal. One of my very good friends who is due just a few weeks ahead of me has it, and she eats healthier than I do! Sounds like Jess is asking for it!

  8. Erin says:

she is so freakin cute! she looks so happy, and her style really shines. good for her for listening to her body rather than trying to stay thin.

  9. Samigirl says:

While I understand cravings are a big part of pregnancy, and sometimes they are so strong you feel like you could KILL over them (with my first-steak, with the little lady-shrimp. I cried the other day bc we were out of shrimp to throw on the grill), one should STILL eat healthy during their pregnancy, and it sounds like she is just indulging like crazy. You only need 300 extra calories a day, and 600 more when you’re nursing. I think those buttered pop tarts are probably about 300 calories apiece! She’s going to have a hard time losing weight after the baby gets here if she continues to eat like that.

    • Justaposter says:

Oh Samigirl I hear you. With my daughter I burst into tears at a TGIF because they messed up my french dip and french onion soup order.

My Mom took one look at me, and told the waiter “you better fix this fast” and tried not to laugh when my lip started quivering.

As the tears started welling up I asked them “how could you guys mess up a french dip and french onion soup?”

Even my 3 year old and 5 year old sons looked at eachother and said ‘uh oh’

I don’t get the Jess hate, my god! let the poor darling be.

For all you judgy folks.. just how healthy do you eat? And no, the “but I am not preggers’ line doesn’t work.

      • Samigirl says:

I probably would have cried too. I understand…when you want something, you want it the right way! The way you expected it!

I want to make it clear, I LOVE Jessica Simpson. She’s never given a flying you know what about what other people think. I think that’s awesome. I WISH I could live like that. The things she’s eating just kind of cause me to shudder, lol.

I will say, I ate like crap with my first. I was 20, and I totally used it as an excuse to overindulge. This go around, I’m a little more educated, and I know how hard it is to lose that post pregnancy weight, so I’m eating healthier. Even though I just want to tear into a bag of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups or Hostess Cupcakes (the kind with the swirl? SO GOOD), I’m eating peppermints, warm turkey and swiss sandwiches, soups, and just low fat, healthy food.
I’ve never wanted a damn cheeseburger more in my life, hahaha. 🙂

23 weeks today, 17 more to go. It’s going to be a looooonnnng 4 months!

      • theoriginalbellaluna says:

Cravings…mmmm…I craved double western bacon cheeseburgers while nursing, and still managed to drop the baby weight by 8 weeks after delivery. (But that didn’t happen with the first 2!)

  10. Minx2 says:

Bless her heart but she’ll pay for it later, silly girl. She still has months to go and is already looking quite big.

  11. Me says:

I think she’s the coolest pregnant celebrity ever. She just does her thing and doesnt make a fuss about it. I dont think she’s all that huge, she’s pretty tiny to begin with and obviously putting on weight but she looks amazing!

  12. Steph says:

Eating sugar doesn’t given you GD, just like eating sugar doesn’t give you diabetes in general. In fact, as I was tested for GD at my OB’s office, I had to carb load for 3 days prior – I was told to eat at least 300 grams of carbs per day leading up to my testing, which I passed with flying colors. Yes, she’s indulging, but I”m sure with a fiance like Eric, isn’t he vegan or something?!, she’s not JUST eating crap. She’s giving the public what they want to hear, her cravings. I’m not her biggest fan, but geez, she just can’t win.

  13. mollie says:

What a beautiful woman she is. Just gorgeous, darling, glowingly pregnant and I LOVED buttered pop tarts when I was pregnant! Hot buttered pop tarts. I’ve never met another person who did. Love Jessica.

    • Jolene says:

I’ve never had a buttered Pop Tart, but I had horrible nausea the first five months of one pregnancy (then horrible heartburn the last four months). I ate Pop Tarts for breakfast — they were the only thing I could stomach in the morning, not sure why.

Now, the rest of the day, it was hard-boiled eggs, apples, cucumber sandwiches, etc, but for some reason I had to have my daily Pop Tarts.

    • the original bellaluna says:

My faves are the brown sugar & cinnamon or cinnamon roll UNFROSTED ones, toasted with butter. YUM! (But I rarely eat them. Too many calories & way too much sugar.)

  14. tango says:

Who really cares? At least she’s truly pregnant and is experiencing what many of us other women who have actually carried babies in our bodies have felt. I’m tired of celebrities who tell us when they’re pregnant they only gained 20 pounds or never craved anything but fresh organic broccolli or even when they gave into unhealthy cravings, their metabolism was such that they burned it off right away so within 2 weeks of giving birth are back to a size 0.

And face it, Jessica had problems loosing weight before she got pregnant. I expect she’ll have trouble afterwards even if she did eat totally healthy.

  15. Lindy says:

I really DO think her maternity style is about a thousand times better–classier, prettier, more put-together, better-fitting–than her regular style. WTF?! But I hope she’s doing well, and enjoying a little bit of indulgence. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it’s bad to go completely off the charts crazy with your eating while preggo, and I worked hard to stayt in good shape, exercise, and eat my extra calories in healthy ways. But I also feel like in our body obssessed culture, pregnancy is about the only time in a woman’s life where she can ease off the self-monitoring for even a tiny space of time! More power to her. Not my favorite celeb, but I wish her well.

  16. Jessica says:

I bet she will have a girl!! When I was preggo with my first, my son, I craved seafood which is a huge no no and healthy foods.. with my second, my daughter, sugar, sugar, sugar… I was so bad with the sugar that when I had my blood glucose test, I had to go back and do more testing where they make you drink more stuff, and test your blood over a period of several hours.. my doctor was going over the results with me and he said, “I just dont get why your sugar is so high”.. I responded, “Maybe the Debbie Cakes I eat for breakfast every morning” (SMILE).. he frowned of course and said yes, thats it, and stop it!!! lol

    • Justaposter says:

LOLOLOLOL! All my doctor said with my first born (a boy) was “umm sweetie, how about we limit your halloween candy eating okay”

I HATED those glucose tests. Seriously, they won’t let you eat, pump you full of that god awful sugary syrupy drink(if you can get it down) and wonder why your suger might be elevated.. Not to mention they poke you a bazillion times with needles and pretty much take all of your blood.

By the time I was done, I was this hormonal cranky crazy STARVING woman.. and not fit to be around humans until I was able to eat!

With my second and third, I learned to bring a lunch bag and pack a few snacks to snarf down once I left the office.

      • Jessica says:

FINALLY someone knows what I am talking about!! LOL

      • Jolene says:

The reason they make you drink the glucose drink is precisely to see how your body is processing sugar. That’s the point of the diabetes test 🙂

BTW, the lemon-lime flavor isn’t bad. Just keep it really cold and chug it!

      • Isa says:

Mine was schedule at 3 in the afternoon. Don’t ever, ever do that! My the time I was done my husband was holding me up!

      • aprayerforthewildatheart says:

OMG you guys are all reminding me of when I was preg with my son. All those tests, getting weighed and measured I felt like I was some sort of science project, or livestock going up for auction! LOL

    • the original bellaluna says:

So funny! With my son (my first) I craved avo, turkey breast, monterey jack cheese, tomato, & sprout sandwiches on Poulsbo bread. And chicken taquitos with guacamole. And McDonald’s french fries.

With my daughter, I was SO SICK that (once I got out of the hospital) the only thing I could stand to stave off the nausea was a combo of lemon juice, bubbly water, and a dash of white wine.

With my youngest, (once the 24 hour morning sickness passed) I craved honeydew melon. And I had previously HATED honeydew melon.

  17. Jo 'Mama' Besser says:

Clearly one’s reaction to her diet is proportional to his or her affection towards her.

    • Nev says:

      word.

didn’t want to think or say it, but you could be right. It sucks, i like her and want her to be happy.

  18. Ludmila says:

It really is a beautiful pregnant! Skin, hair and I love a belly like that, so great. I could not stay so great during pregnancy, could not gain too much weight because of hipertensao.Sentia much desire to eat crap … so I understand ela.Espero that your doctor is talking about their food.

  19. beclove says:

    She looks beautiful!

  20. Blue says:

Eww buttered pop tarts? That sounds so gross but when you’re pregnant lots of stuff tastes good. I loved taco bell when I was pregnant, especially with lots of hot sauce. Now I gag just walking past it.

  21. Sunshine says:

I had heard all these stories about pregnancy being this emotional, nonstop eating fest but I never believed it…apparently from the stories here I am wrong! I guess I’m the freak, I only gained 30lbs during my whole pregnancy and didn’t really have much of an interest in food or eating. I was back in my regular pants within the week and the whole thing was pretty easy. Lol people keep telling me how lucky I was but who knew they were right? Either way, Jessica looks lovely and seems happy so good for her. It’s just crazy that she’s 6 months and is bigger than I ever was (I didn’t even show at 6 months). I hope that baby will be healthy, I bet it’ll be HUGE!

    • Umlaut says:

My second pregnancy, I only gained 18 pounds. I kept getting into trouble with the midwives, but yeah, I just wasn’t that hungry. (My first one, gosh, I could down four bagels in a sitting.)

I feel badly for Jess, though, because it’s really hard to stop eaten 3000 calories a day once your body’s gotten used to it.

    • Isa says:

I gained 34 with my first and about 30 with my second. And my second was a huge baby at 9 lbs 6 ozs. I always thought that 30-34 was quite a bit of weight. But I guess it isn’t compared to 50-60 lbs.
I had a ton of interest in eating. I carried around snacks because I couldn’t make it without one before lunch or dinner. I was hungry ALL the time!

  22. chloe w says:

    OMG tooo funny

I LOVE LOVE LOVE buttered poptarts (blueberry), with wine
    yum

  23. Sandy says:

I really don’t care for Jessica, but she looks good pregnant. Congrats, hope everything goes well for her the the baby.

  24. skipper says:

that is the dieting attitude I had and I ate a lot of the same foods while preggers. no health problems for me or baby but I literally doubled in weight.

I like her more now that shes not trying to convince me she is sexy.

  25. EmmaStoneWannabe says:

I think she is so pretty and looks radiantly happy. Good for her.

  26. JPX says:

She’s doing exactly what a stupid person would do; she’s eating high fat things that are terrible for her (and her baby). Simpson is just such a dolt. She’s already as big as a Buick and she will never lose the baby weight.

  27. bohemelilene says:

I never really liked Jessica at all in the past but I too think she’s so cute pregnant…I totally agree with the poster who said she is dressing and putting herself together so much better nowadays and she truly is glowing. She’s really turned into this very relatable and likeable person.
All the best to her and Eric 🙂

  28. Isa says:

    It’s a girl.

The weight may come off but the stretch marks will always be there, even if they do fade.

  29. aprayerforthewildatheart says:

Jessica seems like a really sweet girl, and I think she looks so pretty pregnant. But while I was reading that interview I had such the visual of her chewing gum and talking out in front of her trailer park home, I don’t know why! LOL

  30. the original bellaluna says:

I think she’s just being herself. Now that she’s pregnant, she has an excuse to down all the junk she probably tried to avoid previously.

She’s already got her post-partum weight-loss endorsement deal, so who cares?

I love that she’s admitting to cravings, giving in to them, and not putting on airs about how vigilant and healthy she’s being. That’s REAL.

  31. Sandra says:

Giselle is totally looking down at Jess right now…

  32. Miss Thang says:

Oh my gosh. No wonder she’s so HUGE! I see a big fat 10lb baby in her immediate future. Good luck pushing that thing out!

  33. Ramona Q says:

    Her make-up looks great.
