Jennifer Aniston is finally ready to adopt… a new puppy, from Utah

Back in May of last year, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie walked the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival for the premiere of Brad’s film, Tree of Life. It was a big moment, with the international entertainment press lapping up all of the Brangelina they could get. A curious thing happened on the day of Brangelina’s big night in Cannes, however. Jennifer Aniston curiously released the information that her dog Norman had passed away… several weeks earlier. It was odd timing, to say the least. Not that I didn’t doubt that Jennifer loved and adored her fur baby and I didn’t doubt that she was likely devastated by the loss. My point then – and now – is that Aniston should have been less obvious with the timing of the announcement.

Anyway, Norman has gone to doggy heaven, and Aniston still has her German shepherd fur baby Dolly to keep her company. But according to this report, Aniston is itching for a new puppy!

Jennifer Aniston is finally adopting. No, not a baby – the actress is bringing home a furry friend!

“Jennifer decided to give herself a New Year’s present to start the year off right – a new dog,” a source tells Star. Since the passing of her Welsh corgi-terrier mix, Norman, last spring, “Jen has been mourning,” explains the source.

Norman was 15 years old when he went to the Great Kennel in the Sky, and Jen has memorialized him with a tattoo of his name on the inside of her right foot. While the 42-year-old actress is still the proud owner of a German shepherd mix named Donny, “Jen is ready to give another needy dog a home.”

Jen found the new pooch, also a shepherd mix, at the Utah-based Best Friends Animal Society last month.

[From Star Magazine, print edition]

Oh, I had forgotten about the dog tattoo too. As for the idea that this is a “needy dog” – really? Isn’t LA full of animal shelters? Did she want a specific breed or mix? Why go all the way to Utah? It’s weird, but whatever. God bless. Aniston loves her puppies, and whoever she adopts will be living the A-list puppy life.

Seriously? We haven’t seen hide or hair of her for months and they release this pablum?

Diverting the attention from her unconfirmed pregnancy or just back to friends with the media?

I’m so glad that she did use Best Friends.

After Hurricane Katrina Best Friends stayed months after the other big organizations left. The offical rescue of animals was ended on October 15 2005. (There were no more animals trapped in houses, and there were no more animals on the street.) This was not true. Best Friends stayed months into the next year. And only left after a number of offical city-wide reviews. Best Friends supported those stalwart rescuers who stayed. They hunted around for a facility to rent and staff in the metro area to continue to help vet and transport out animals who were wandering the flooded buildings. They also continued to help displaced residents get their animals. Find them, capture or humanely trap them.

They were the silver lining in the mess that was animal rescue after the storm.

Hey, she’s adopting from a shelter, not buying from a breeder or a pet store, and that’s a wonderful thing, given the horrific situation of extreme overload at animal shelters. And if this gives Best Friends a boost in donations or adoptions (which I doubt), that’s all to the good of animals nation-wide, as BF pulls from all areas’ shelters, with a special focus on the West, due to logistics. They’re the group that took in and rehabbed the Vick Pits, and while I’m sure they’re not perfect, their work in that regard, and in general helping publicize what wonderful dogs Pits are, is commendable. Now if only Jennifer would adopt a Pit…that would be extra-wonderful.

would not surprise me if she announced she adopted a needy puppy from Cambodia and named him Naddoxs….or a black lab puppy from Ethiopia and named her Sahara….

Best Friends Animal Sanctuary is a unique No-Kill sanctuary for several kinds of animals from dogs & cars to birds, horses, and reptiles. They supervised the rehabilitation of the most broken dogs rescued from the Michael Vick raid. It truly is a beautiful location and place for animals. I agree with Shelley, if JA adopting from Best Friends give more attention to them and their wonderful way of saving and providing for animals, Excellent.

And I think she and JT put Best Friends Animal Sanctuary on their Christmas Card…highlighting their donation or to encourage others…something like that.

Best Friends also focuses on taking in dogs that are considered “unadoptable” and tries to rehabilitate them or if they are not suitable for adoption, gives them a safe place to live out their lives.

It’s a wonderful organization Kaiser, and I don’t think it’s at all odd that she would choose to adopt a dog from Dogtown rather than a dog in LA. I’m an East coast girl, and if I could adopt another dog right now, I’d drive to Dogtown or even Villalobos (outside LA) to meet some of the dogs I’ve fallen in love with there.

Is it news every time this boring woman does anything?!

Tabloids should totally write about the time the crazy old lady in my building who wears a bathrobe and rusted costume jewelery discovered a way to lock out all the other tenants. More compelling story and characters.

Can you clarify which dog is Norman? In top photo ELLE? EW too? Thanks.

I assume that JA wanted to get new animal friend from Best Friends to help them, raise awareness about them – all good – although I also think adopting from an LA or NYC shelter (as someone mentioned) would have been great. NY in particular has a very high kill shelter system – the ACC, “Animal Care & Control”.

Don’t Shop, Adopt. So glad she is adopting. I really appreciate her looking out for animals.

ps I never saw those photos in the black gown.

It’s been almost a year since my dark haired golden passed away and I am still mourning – so I get how Aniston feels. We are contemplating getting a new furry family member, and adoption does seem like the way to go.

P.S. Kaiser – I ask respectfully – why did a story about Anniston have to begin with stuff about Jolie/Pitt? For all of you fans on both sides (of which I am neither) – I constantly read in these comments that you wish the tabloids would stop with the “triangle” thing – but it seems to me that the most die-hard fans perpetuate this. Even if what you say is true that Aniston did blah blah, by reacting to it, you give it importance, which then theoretically gives her the attention she wants and the triangle continues.

I’m so glad she went to a shelter for her dog. We could really do something about the stray problem, if people would not buy from puppy mills or home breeders and just searched the internet for rescues and shelters. With all the foreclosures, the shelters are full with all breeds.

  19. Susan says:

Fans of Brad and Angie have to always talk about Jen and Brad and Angie together otherwise they just have to look at Angie and Brad and realize how pathetic they really are. For example if they were actually just watching Brad and Angie they would realize that Brad was using the cane just for show and call him out about it. However as long as they have Jen to talk bad about they don’t have to deal with how pathetic and boring the other two are. Without Jen no one cares about the other two. Jen becomes the brunt of the hate so that Brad and Angie can look like saints. It has been happening for years and will continue. It is the Brad/Angie fans that keep the triangle going. Would I love for Brad and Angie to stand on their own without Jen. Oh yes all Jen fans would. However even though Jen fans and Jen herself has moved on and is much happier then she ever has been – Angie/Brad fans can not let it go. Really sad. the only thing that I find funny is that Angie is desperate for the connection between the three of them to stop – and it is her fans that continue with it. To funny.

Admit the awards season has been boring without Jen that is why people are so desperate for stories about her. Really adopting a dog (which is probably a lie) makes huge news? See desperate for Jen and stories about her. What I am waiting for is her promotion of her next movie. Think she is pregnant? Would that not be amazing?

hate to break it to yo but Jennifer has NEVER been involved with awards season because she hasnt been nominated for anything since Friends..also have you ever visitied a site called femalefirst, these ladies have spent 7 years making thread after thread dissecting ever single pic and interview of the Jolie-pitts(they also believe Angie used voodoo to get brad, she is in the CIA, the twins have down syndrome, and Johnny lee is the real father of vivenne)..these ladies are aniston fans and are obsessed with the JPS..so sorry your conclusions are wrong..there are rabid fans on BOTH sides..and Angelina Jolie hasnt uttered jennifers name since her Vogue interview that came out dec 2006..you must be crazy to thing that Angelina and Brad need Jen i think its the other way around..if she wasnt connected to them, the media would be talking about her as much as they talk about Sarah Jessica Parker or Courtney Cox..every Jen article mentions Brad but every Brad article does not mention Jen

You really need psychological help and your post is absolute proof-positive that its only the Jen fans who can’t let it go. Lets face it, without Brad and Angelina and their coattails that Aniston clings to, Aniston would have ceased to have a career, hence why the loonistons are so obsessed with linking Jen with the JPs. Pathetic.

Wealthy and even famous people lose dogs and adopt dogs every day. except we don’t have to hear about it.

Does she actually have to pay money to have these ‘stories’ come out? I’d love to know about all that. How the publicity machine works celebrities and how they have to make it look there’s no strategy, timing and planning to all of this.

It’s really apparent when people like her staff pump out boring crap like this just when somebody or everybody else is getting attention.

It’s nice to adopt from a shelter. However, where do you think the dogs in shelters come from? Irresponsible breeders.

I’m not saying adopt from irresponsible breeders. But if people would only get dogs from RESPONSIBLE breeders, there wouldn’t be a market for puppy mills (and the number of dogs sent to shelters would decrease). Also, responsible breeders will minimize the chances that genetic problems get passed to the next generation. IF you want a certain breed, check out an organization of that breed in your area, attend a few dog shows, and look for the responsible breeders.

Bravo! I have two West Highland terriers and they don’t have any behavior problems. The breeders are well respected and I couldn’t adopt them until they were 10 weeks old.
I’ve had shelter dogs before and some were great and some not. I applaud people that get rescue dogs but I shouldn’t be criticized for the way I adopted my dogs. I even had to do a resume.

Angelina this – Jennifer that – do you actually take into accountability that either of those women are not as you imagined? IF she adopted a dog that is lovely; there are a lot of dogs and other animals in need of a home. Stop with the triangular spat. You do not know any of what you say for certain; it’s speculation. For all you know all three people are assholes. They all wealthy successful people with the world at their feet. People can complain as much as they want here about her ‘going away’, but the fact that CB continues to have so many posts even though there is absolutely no new pictures or projects to go with it (i.e. she’s not promoting ANYTHING right now)just proves the opposite.

And the pregnancy thing- meh. she just went skiing (apparently). How pregnant can she be?
