He wanted to have sex with her, but she said she wouldn't sleep with anyone unless she was married to him, so he said, "Let's get married then" (of course he was drunk and drugged up). They did the quickie chapel thing, and the next morning he tried to weasel out of it, pretending he didn't remember her name. She said, "The name's Mrs. Bonaduce. Don't forget it." She stuck it out for 18 years, she should get a huge settlement, some sort of medal and free therapy for life.
