Miley Cyrus’ new cropped haircut: cute or unflattering?

Miley Cyrus stepped out over the weekend with a new cropped hairdo. She was also wearing a white t-shirt without a bra, which is all too common for her. Miley should invest in some cami tops with built in bras if it’s such a problem for her to harness her girls. At least she had on a flannel shirt for coverage. Anyway Miley tweeted that she got a hair cut and had about five inches chopped off. It looks like she’s freshened up the color too, but that might just be the effect of the haircut, as I’ve heard hairdressers talk about how shorter hair can make your haircolor look different.

Miley Cyrus may have left her bra at home, but there was a good reason for it — she was preoccupied with her brand-new haircut!

On Friday, the underwear-less star, who sported a white T-shirt underneath an unbuttoned flannel and denim cut-off shorts, met up with some friends at the Los Angeles eatery Wokcano, while debuting her freshly cropped off hair.

“Just got a hurrrr cut,” the 19-year-old tweeted that day.

“I didn’t do anything to crazy. But I did take 5 inches off!” she later added, responding to a fan via Twitter.

Cyrus was last spotted with her longer locks when she stepped out with her boyfriend Liam Hemsworth at the 2012 People’s Choice Awards, where she wowed in a David Koma dress, Neil Lane jewelry, Jimmu Choo heels and a Marchesa clutch.

Hemsworth, who turned 22 on January 13, is the proud owner of a new puppy, a gift from Cyrus herself.

“Meet Ziggy,” the former Disney starlet wrote beneath an adorable snapshot of her man’s pet, which she shared via Twitter January 12.

I’m thinking that Miley also removed some hair extensions, similar to how Aniston copped to getting extensions taken out for her crop cut. I heard Miley admit in an interview a couple of years ago that she had hair extensions, but back then she was sporting much longer, curlier (and darker) hair. So does she look cute with her new hair? She definitely does if you ignore her fug 90s outfit completely, and she probably feels great after losing a little weight recently. (That she didn’t need to lose.) I have to say that I liked her hair longer, similar to how I liked Aniston’s hair best when it was long and blown out. It’s easier to style short hair, but I find longer hair prettier and more flattering. I hate getting mine cut, though, so I’m biased.

Also, I have to say something about the new puppy that Miley gifted her on-again boyfriend, Liam. Here he is, completely adorable and sweet. [via Miley’s Twitter] I don’t know about dog breeds and just spent too much time trying to figure out what kind of pup this is. (Is he/she a Boxer or a mixed breed?) It seems like Miley gets puppies often though. In August of last year she just got two huskies and earlier in the year she was seen toting around another tiny dog. She clearly loves dogs and it shows.

why is she trying to bring grunge back? grunge belongs back in the 90s, along with dial-up and ugly highlights. she’s so cute when she dresses nice, and doesn’t wear unflattering clothes.

    • JenJen says:

You took the words right out of my mouth! First thing I thought when I saw those round sunglasses was “damn you Zoe Kravitz”, and then I saw the high-waisted jeanshorts and wanted to hit her. Grunge died a natural death, let it rest in peace.

      • Becky says:

I disagree-I like the early 1990’s reto look on her. Seeing this photo made me laugh-I used to dress just like that 20 years ago. I loved the flannel, cut off jeans and tights look when I was in my late teens/early twenties. I would never wear it now (I’m 39) but I think it looks really cute on younger women. Then again, maybe I like it because it makes me feel nostalgic for the good old days of grunge(:

    • thebutlerdidit says:

LOL, “she’s” not trying to bring anything back, don’t you have hipsters where you live? This has been back in style for a few yrs now w/ the younger set.

  2. Lilalis says:

Hair is fine, clothes are horrible!

  3. TheOriginalKitten says:

After seeing her outfit I suddenly have “What’s Up?” by 4 Non-Blondes stuck in my head.
    Cute pup though.

  4. Camille says:

OMG another has-been. Hannah Montana is over, her movies flopped, her album failed but she is still here for no reason.

    • ThatBoyLuke says:

WOW you sound so bitter… how is she a hasbeen? Her last movie made 4x it’s budget and she has 4 films and a new album out this year, hardly a hasbeen.

P.S I prefered her hair long but it’s still cute, and i actually like her outfit lmao

  5. outofafrica says:

    Head to toe fug!
This chick is the biggest poser out there.. She needs to stop with nirvana rocker chick shoit

    • Kara Ann says:

I get what you’re saying but, idk, I think people would call her out for being a disney princess if she dressed like Taylor Swift…I’m not expressing myself well, I know…trying to say that she’s really young and figuring it all out in the spotlight so, yeah, she’ll probably try different “looks” and make mistakes. She’s still figuring out who she is and who she wants to be. I could def point out some “what the hell was I thinking” outfits from when I was that age. Just food for thought.

      • GigiK says:

Ditto Kara Ann! @ least MC’s seemingly finding her own person (not to b judgy, like she’d give a sh*t or should!), but Amen & thank God no one cares about pics of ME from the 90’s (incriminating party ones, fashion choices, or otherwise ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m a dog lover too, so good for her on that alone! MC keep enjoyin your life, it is exactly that–YOURS ๐Ÿ™‚
IMHO, or better put, my belief–it (life) is a gift from God. We as humans uniquely have the gift of choice. God bless MC for using her OWN choice to pursue what makes her happy vs. what will fill someone else’s coffers!!

  6. Quest says:

Her hair is ok, her clothes need to be burnt, the dog pics are adorable and her lips are getting more weird everyday

  7. Jezi says:

Eh, I don’t know yet about the hair. I think that’s a Pit bull puppy.

    • brin says:

Hey Jezi! Is it a pit? He is so adorable whatever he is!

    • brin says:

Yeah…they get a bad rap and it’s not fair, there are no bad breeds, imo!

      • Gradstudenteatinghotpockets says:

I definitely agree with that. Where I live there are NO pits allowed because (according to my lease) they are a “mean, aggressive, and destructive breed.” Also included in that list are collies, dalmations, any breed over 70lbs, any type of shepard, and any dog that is mixed with any of those breeds.

Seriously every pit I’ve ever known has been nice and sweet and adorable…but then again, I don’t surround myself with people that treat animals like crap :(…poor pits.

      • OriginalTiffany says:

Animals, especially dogs and horses are just a mirror of their owner.
        The dog is adorable.

    • LilDebbi says:

Agree with Amanda – that is definitely an English bulldog puppy.

  8. Sienna says:

I like the length. So sick of the fake wavy extensions all these celebrities wear.

  9. Cathy says:

I don’t know, it kind of makes her face fatter than it already is.

  10. Kimlee says:

I don’t like the hair but I agree with everyone that her clothes needs to go.

  11. Erinn says:

I keep considering cutting my hair like that. Mine goes quite far down my back now, longer than Miley’s was before she cut it. But then I remember how the last time I cut my hair I couldn’t wait for it to grow back out, so I probably shouldn’t. But I do like the cut.

    • Franny says:

I hear you. I’m always trying to grow my hair out, and just when it gets to the point where I really like it, I see a picture of someone with a super cute cut (not MC here though) and really contemplate doing the same. Then I pull up pictures of me with short hair, and that desire goes away real quick.

      • OriginalTiffany says:

Oh, me too! I am at my longest since 5th grade. Way down my back. I am so sick of the upkeep, but am not ready to part with it.
I look good with short hair, and have worn it as short as a pixie, so I am kind of sad to get it so long and chop it. Maybe I’ll just wait and when I (and you guys) do, donate it to locks of love. My daughter is doing the same. After working in oncology, I’ve seen women at the centers get their wigs and they are so happy.
I don’t love the dark roots with the lighter ends, but it’s all over right now.

  12. Asli says:

Hair is fine, clothes need to go. I’m noticing she has a case of the Lindsay-chin and lips going on in the fourth pic. Unfortunate angle?

  13. JenJen says:

It would be much nicer and cuter if Miley was rescuing dogs who need homes rather than using her sizable fortune to purchase puppies. I understand the appeal of puppies, but she could break it up with some rescue dogs here and there.

  14. SHump76 says:

That is definitely a boxer, or a boxer mix. Look at the paws on him, he’s going to be huge someday.

  15. mimi says:

Ummm…shes a kid, why does she have to dress for anyone but herself? Maybe she comfortable this way…she isnt getting paid to dress how YOU all want her to dress. Dont any of you ever run to the store in your lounge pants…SURE YOU DO, and if you dont, get the stick out of your ass and quit pretending to be someone your not. Ordinary people dress comfy and dont worry about what others think. She shouldnt have to either!

    • TheOriginalKitten says:

Here’s the foundation of your flawed logic-she’s not an “ordinary” person. Besides that, she’s wearing boots, leggings and biscuit-strangling mom jeans shorts-none of it looks to fall into the “comfy” category. Comfortable would be more like jeans and sneakers a la J. Garner.

      • jasperkitty says:

Ordinary or being famous…irregardless, it doesn’t matter if she was dressed to the nine’s…you and others would probably b*tch about it too. She doesn’t have to impress anyone.

      • Mia says:

I don’t think it’s upto us to tell other people what their “comfortable” clothes are. Maybe J Garner likes the jeans-sneakers combo being an active mom while Miley is more like others in her age group and thinks that leggings, boots and flannel are comfy.

  16. TheOriginalVictoria says:

she looks less fake. And grunge is fine. They bring back all kinds of crazy shit from yesteryears, why not grunge.

I certainly love a good nod to the crispy Seattle weather as much as anyone else.

Bonus points if you know the reference.

  17. Julie says:

Like her hair, hate the black stocking with shorts. Lame.

  18. Sara says:

Again, just another celebrity getting their extensions taken out.

    • Hautie says:

      Exactly.

      The removal of extensions.

And hair extensions thins out your natural hair, to the point of having to cut it all off. And just start over.

Which is why I will never understand why a girl with great hair, would let anyone glue in fake hair. For a few extra inches.

      Just let it grow.

      • Floridaseaturtle says:

I was thinking the same thing, hair extensions ruined parts of her real hair. Sad if true, but I am glad to see a more natural and healthy approach. Hopefully, no permanent damage.

  19. kelbear04 says:

The hair needs some layers instead of being so blunt at the ends.

  20. imabrat says:

    A wealthy hillbilly.

  21. truthful says:

agreed she looks like she just removed her extensions.

but Hollywood always calls it a hair cut, shrugs.

  22. The Bobster says:

    She needs bangs……long bangs.

  23. Mikki says:

I like short hair, so I’m biased in that direction…and I don’t feel any less pretty and/or feminine with it either. Miley’s hair isn’t the problem here, it’s the tights and shorts combo.

  24. Working says:

Most definitely that is an English Bulldog pup…mine looked exactly like that ๐Ÿ™‚ So so cute

  25. judyjudy says:

Ummm..with that haircut and outfit thatcould totally be me in high school (minus the boots). How embarrassing for both of us.

  26. vanessa says:

why does anyone really care? I don’t get it, and why is the writer so irked about her not wearing a bra? I think you should wear whatever the heck you want,as long as your covering it up- as she has. Does anyone even “like” Miley, with the exception of the SNL skits, which are hilarious….

  27. Emma says:

I am thoroughly confused as to why Miley continues to try to dress like a hipster. Pure nonsense.

  28. The Truth Fairy says:

I am so glad those super long ratty hair extensions are going out of style!

  29. danielle says:

Her hair looked kindof fried and stringy before – much better with the cut. And boy is that dog cute!!!

  30. Ama says:

I like that bob, I’m actually waiting for my layers to grow to cut it about the same length as hers. Also, as an European, I don’t fuss that much about her not wearing a bra. Sometimes, they’re simply not as comfortable as one would think :).
And no, I’m not particularly a fan of Miley’s.
