For me marriage is a religious institution and I'm not religious - marriage means nothing to me. This does, however, not mean that I'm not committed to my family and that my children wouldn't have the same stability as in a family where the parents are married. For me the major commitment comes from having children together - when you decide on that, that's when you have decided to be committed to the other person. I really respect those who feel a need to get married, but I think it's a bit narrow minded to think that just because some couples remain unmarried they're not as committed as married couples.
