Kate Beckinsale: “I haven’t even done Botox. Look, I can move my face!”

I generally find Kate Beckinsale to be rather bland in personality. I don’t hold it against her, really. I think she’s beautiful in a way I associate with Southern beauty pageants – Kate always looks “done” and she’s always “got her face on” and she’s always impeccably (over) dressed. She’s Charlotte in Sex and the City, you know? Anyway, I was going to ignore Kate’s cover interview for the March issue of Women’s Health UK, but I ended up skimming the piece and finding it charming, mostly because Kate gossips a lot about her various leading men. I’ll admit, I liked her more after this piece:

Working with her director husband Les Wiseman on the Total Recall remake with Colin Farrell: “I think it was worse for Colin [Farrell]. It’s awkward if you have to fondle the director’s wife. Especially with Len saying, ‘all right that’s it, you’re fired. Colin’s lovely. He’s such a good actor, really professional and a brilliant dad. There’s nothing bad you can say about Colin – and he’s funny as well. I hate him!”

Taking a three year hiatus and then coming back with Underworld: Awakening and Contraband: “I didn’t plan on a sabbatical, there just wasn’t anything I was dying to do and I have to really make the decision – is it worth me being away from my kid [her daughter Lily].”

Training for Contraband: “It’s not really in my nature to do all this ass-kicking. When I first started training for Underworld they were like: ‘she can’t even f**king run!’ And I couldn’t. I got more bruises on Contraband than in all the Underworlds put together. It was like, ‘let’s not choreograph the fight, let’s just see what happens.’ And all of a sudden Giovanni Ribisi [her Contraband co-star] comes flying into my house and beats the sh*t out of me.”

On Mark Wahlberg: “He’s very manly. And if someone squeezes your boobs at a Katy Perry concert – which is what happened to me in Toronto – I did wish Mark was there because he would have sorted it out.”

On Hugh Jackman: “His reputation is as the nicest person in show business and it’s sort of true. And he’s not shy of skipping and stuff. He knows a lot of show tunes.”

No social networking: “I don’t do Twitter or Facebook. I like to be able to reserve the right to complain about people bothering me in my private life.”

On the paparazzi attention: “It’s a good thing we [she and husband Len Wiseman] weren’t in Europe or I’d be topless. And thank God we’ve been married as long as we have, and the pants stayed on, that’s all I can say!”

Her favorite body part: “I once said, ‘my beaver’, and everyone was shocked. So I’m going to say my ears.”

No Botox: “I haven’t even done Botox. Look, I can move my face.”

[From Women’s Health UK via The Mail]

Do you believe her about the Botox? I think I do. I don’t know. I’m debating it. She been photographed a lot lately, and in some photos, she does look slightly tweaked, but maybe it’s just because she went away for a while and I forgot what she looked like? I don’t think she’s had her eyes done. And her face does MOVE. Okay, I’ll buy her claim that she’s un-tweaked.

Oh, and is this code? “He’s not shy of skipping and stuff. He knows a lot of show tunes.” IS IT? If you said that about Tom Cruise, I would say that was code – BAD code. But since it’s about Hugh Jackman, can we just take it at face value?

Please – Google plastic surgery “before and after” photos and …well let’s just say there’s a difference.

She may not have had botox (doubtful) BUT she reconfigured a lot of original components. It was very early in her career so many don’t remember. God bless Google. Ha.

Why do people lie when it’s so easy to prove them wrong? We should collectively be insulted.

      • autumndaze says:

I have grown to really like her candor. But I must say that if she is implying that she hasn’t ever had any work done…… poor form.
I enjoyed the openness regarding her co-stars, but my admiration went down a few notches after reading this.

      • grace says:

What do think she had done? She got her teeth/gums fixed but I don’t see any signs of surgery.

When she arrived in Hollywood, she had her brows groomed, got a tan, hair extensions and lost weight.

Afterall, she is still her father (Richard Beckinsale)’s mirror image!

  2. MeMyself says:

Put your hair away Kate. It’s like she wants us to notice it in every photo. Let’s see some expression instead.

    • Mimi says:

I know! It overwhelms every effn shot. She totally overcompensates, IMO and has ever since the stretch mark debacle.
Don’t think the Hugh quote was code at all. I mean, he’s a legend on Broadway already, it’s fairly obvious the man has old school entertaining skills.

      • MorticiansDoItDeader says:

I just googled Kate Beckinsale and stretchmarks and came up with the pictures you’re talking about. I was also shocked to see similar pictures of Scarlett johansen; and read that Nicole richie and Mischa Barton have similar marks. I hope Kate realizes that it’s a pretty common problem and doesn’t take away from her beauty.

      • grace says:

Why is having stretchmarks a ‘debacle’? Try breastfeeding (as Kate was). It happens.

  3. GoodCapon says:

    She’s very pretty.

  4. Marjalane says:

Yeah… that skipping and stuff kind of caught my eye as well….I dunno, I saw some pictures of him at a Kylie Minogue concert once, and I’m pretty sure he had make-up on….I love him and I want to believe he has a fairy tale great marriage, but….I think he’s maybe a little gay.

    • aprayerforthewildatheart says:

Is that like being a little pregnant?? LOL! 😀

I love Hugh Jackman, show tunes or no show tunes. He can’t sing in my dreams… 😉

    • Camille (The original) says:

Yup. Just a little bit 😉 *nodding*

    • ema82m says:

Hugh Jackman was known is Australia for years as being a musical theatre actor before he made it big in Hollywood…I went & saw Beauty & the Beast on the stage when I was in high school (many years ago now) & he played Gaston

  5. Jessica says:

I think we can take the Hugh stuff at face value. She has no reason for wanting to put that code out there–and hey, even HE says how he loves show tunes.

I buy that she’s not tweaked.

I never used to like her much, and I do find her looks to beautiful, but also bland…but I like her because she knows three or four languages and has won literary awards. She’s very, very smart. There’s more to her than you see at first glance. I like that.

  6. considerit says:

she’s young enough that with 1000 dollar face creams, facials, peels, laser treatments, fillers, etc…she doesn’t need botox. it makes me laugh when women brag about being botox-free, but spend 1000s a month on dermatologists and products. sure, their faces can move, but they’re equally vain and artificial – and promoting a standard of beauty and ageing that most women can’t afford to adopt.

  7. ShazBot says:

I can’t decide if I think she’s tweaked. If you look at her ages ago in Serendipity (I love that movie), she’s so…dewey and fresh, but I can’t tell if it’s just because she’s so ‘young and English’ whereas now she’s a bit older and is rather ‘Hollywood’, or if she’s been messing around.

  8. NerdMomma says:

I love Kate Beckinsale, she’s one of my favorite actresses, but that forehead is botoxed and I cannot be convinced otherwise.

    • grace says:

Look at recent HQs of her. I think she’s telling the truth.

    • Coucou says:

I agree with you NerdMomma, and i didn’t need to go fishing around in the archive net to even begin to make comparisons, it’s just so freaking obvious she’s had it done, and just because she had it done well and minimallly doesn’t mean she can try to pull it off like she hasn’t, when i read this quote, i was like WHAT EVER.

  9. Shelly says:

She is truly gorgeous. Hope she never screws that up with botox!

  10. BW says:

She’s making faces but her forehead doesn’t move. I call shenanigans.

    • grace says:

If you look at HQs from her recent press tour, it’s pretty clear she hasn’t had botox. Lots of wrinkles on her forehead and around her eyes.

  11. dlovesc says:

Always loved her. She is a great girl.

  12. kristipistol says:

She is so beautiful. I loved the “beaver” comment.

  13. EmmaStoneWannabe says:

She is beautiful. But just because you can move your face, does not mean you have never had any Botox. She could have had fillers, eye lift, etc. I believe she’s had at least something done, aside from great Photoshop.

  14. mel says:

    absolutely beautiful!

  15. Suzy (from Ontario, Canada) says:

There’s something about her that turns me off. Maybe it’s seeing pics of her walking with her daughter and dog and hauling the dog up in the air by the leash. Or the comments about her lady parts. I just don’t like her. She’s good in the Underworld movies (love her hair in those movies…really suits her), but can’t remember her in much of anything else. I think she was outing Hugh Jackman with those comments a little bit. She strikes me as someone who would think that was funny to do.

    • grace says:

Hmm, I dunno. She was really close with Hugh’s wife when they filmed Van Helsing and had nothing but nice things to say about them both.

  16. Littledargling@gmail.com says:

She doesn’t rate all that much on my pop scale. She is absolutely gorgeous, no denying that.

She is also very smart, and seemingly seems to be a good wife, which I also like a lot.

That said, she’s still kind of meh to me. I bet she would be fun to drink with though.

  17. lucy2 says:

Maybe not botox, but she has had stuff done – however it’s well done, and she looks gorgeous. Whatever she did was, it was good.
She is really charming on talk shows too.

  18. Tracy says:

She can move her lower jaw, which comes in handy for eating purposes…BUT I’m not convinced that she can move the space of skin between her eyebrows…Also, I think she hasn’t hit it big b/c she comes across as brittle and too self-serious. Not a gal’s gal.

  19. Bob says:

Love Kate! That’s a good looking lady!

  20. NM6804 says:

You can move your face? Great, why not try doing that when you’re “acting”.

  21. Aiobhan says:

Kate is one of the best hair models around-even better than Eva Mendes. I like her frankness but wish that she would act in more films other than crap action films. When she does find a good role she really can act.

  22. jacquie109 says:

I love her! She’s gorgeous and I think she’s a wonderful actress. I know she had some plastic surgery but I beleive that she never had botox.

  23. Julie says:

Love her but don’t buy this.

  24. Tweakspotter says:

I’m gonna have to call BS! Maybe Botox wasn’t the filler of choice but don’t lie honey.

  25. Heather M (Heather) says:

Again, one of my biggest PET PEEVES– discussing your lack of plastic surgery (and discussing your lack of sexual partners). I mean, let’s not discuss your desire for privacy in the same breath as whether or not you’ve had plastic surgery. If I were asked this I would answer as Madonna did, “I am not against plastic surgery, I’m against discussing it.”

Oh, and PS– when you have had “good” Botox, your face still moves.

  26. HadleyB says:

I can move my face and I get Botox. It depends how much you get injected and also what month you are into it..it does’t last forever and it slowly wears off so you can move your face more freely as time goes on.

I don’t understand why celebs keep saying this stupid shit to prove a point. We are not stupid and especially those who do get stuff done!

  27. Nanea says:

Of course Hugh would know a lot of show tunes. He’s done musicals, successful shows on Broadway, and he’ll be Jean Valjean soon.

As to Kate’s face: she doesn’t look at all like she used to look when she did Much Ado About Nothing with Ken&Em, Denzel, Keanu…

  28. Louise says:

She’s a liar! I just hate her, I can’t even look at her face. If she comes on tv I turn it off. There’s something about her that just gets on my nerves!

  29. LoveMeDo says:

She def had botox or at least something done. It’s quite obvious in Underworld: Awakening.

  30. Mouse says:

Good grief, maybe no botox but she’s definitely not natural. Go watch Much Ado About Nothing and compare her face then to these photos.

  31. Kim says:

Wow! I know the majority of Hollywood actresses are full of crap but she takes the cake! Hiatus is called, i have no talent and wasnt getting jobs and she is FULL OF BOTOX & FILLER. She is known as one of the most worked on women in Hollywood! Just look at a photo of her from 10 yrs ago and you wont recognize her.

  32. Asli says:

    HAHAHHAHAHA, love the beaver-comment.

  33. Sasha says:

Very beautiful but definitely bland. I’d hate to be her best friend though. Can’t compete with those genetics!

  34. original kate says:

kate’s pretty but she is such a bad actress.

  35. Ruffian9 says:

Meh. Not buying it. I think she’s had a fair amount of decent work done over the years. For some reason she sticks in my head as the subject of a Blind item a few years ago. I can’t find it right now but it had to do with an actress becoming a heavy drug user and losing control, despite her husbands (also in the business) best efforts. It’s possible I imagined this. Anyhoo, I find her pretty, but bland.

  36. JuliaDomna says:

Something about her seems very stupid.

  37. ema82m says:

Hugh Jackman was known here in Australia for his roles in musical theatre long before he made it big in Hollywood, I saw him as Gaston in Beauty & the Beast when I was in high school, years ago now!

  38. Jenna says:

Those photos are either airbrushed to death or she’s definitely tweaked. Look, Ma, no laugh lines!

  39. Isa says:

She’s had some of the best plastic surgery ever. And she hasn’t gpne overboard. She is what, 40? And could pass for late 20s.
But she seems like one that takes 3 hours to look perfectly dressed down to go to the market.

  40. dj says:

I liked what she said about Wahlberg!

  41. Genry says:

    She is my dream =)

  42. Hello there, I discovered your blog via Google even as searching for a related subject, your website came up, it appears great. I’ve bookmarked to favourites|added to bookmarks.

  43. Vescovedo says:

Yes I think she is very pretty. She owe’s her doc a big thanks. She has definetely had her gums cut teeth whitened narrowing of the nose as well as some small implants she is naturally super flat chested. She was the ugly friend of claire danes in that drug movie brokedown palace. I mean come on uglier than claire danes how? What celebs do is their bizz but don’t insult us by lying, at least no comment!
