‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ trailer: is Andrew Garfield bringing the nerd-hotness?

Why don’t I remember the first trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man? I swear, I hadn’t seen it before today. Anyway, there’s a new trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man, featuring Andrew Garfield as your new Peter Parker/Spiderman. Emma Stone is his girlfriend, Gwen. Dennis Leary is Gwen’s cop father. Martin Sheen is Peter’s grandfather. Campbell Scott is Peter’s father…? And Rhys Ifans is the bad guy. It’s a great cast, and while I do wonder why they had to do another reboot of Spiderman, I have to admit, I kind of like Andrew Garfield’s version of Peter Parker. Tobey Maquire’s Peter was so angst-y and morose – Andrew’s version seems more nerdy and cool. I don’t know… I like Andrew Garfield so much, so maybe I was already primed to like this one.

Here’s the new trailer:

Here’s the first trailer, released last year – why didn’t I see this one?

The new trailer seems to give a lot of the plot away, but I still don’t feel like I know the whole story – and considering I was never into comics, I can’t speak to whether they’re keeping this close to the comic books or anything. Let’s hope this appeases the nerds AND the film geeks. I want Andrew to do well.

hm… I think I like it… thoughts? The effects on this version are much more present than the other spiderman flicks. Don’t you think?

I would do filthy, filthy things to that man. Y’know, if we were both single and he was also interested. (*snorts*)

I ended up watching “Never Let Me Go” recently (great film) and he looked so cute, even towards the end. I felt a bit sleazy about noticing, though, considering how sad the film is.

    meh

Oh jesus christ will they stop it already.
Stop using old classics trying to make fast money with chliche throw-away films.

“Never Let Me Go,” indeed, a terrific film! Garfield is more than just a pretty boy, so, yeah, I too want him to do really well even though I didn’t like the idea of him on Spider-Man at first.

I think his Spidey will be cooler and geekier at the same time, while also… much bendier, yum!

Yeah, I’m a whore for this guy <3

I could have sworn that I heard that this Spiderman’s personality is based more off of the Spiderman from the Ultimate universe, while Toby’s was based off of the original Spiderman books. If true, this could possibly explain the difference in character personality/portrayal.

Either way I find these trailers underwhelming and feel that they rebooted this series too soon.

It looks cool and darker. I prefer this atmosphere, and andrew seems to be a good spidey. Plus, I LOVE Emma, they look so cute together. And the girl can act, she is not just an eye candy in the film, which is rare in these kind of movies. She is so much better than Kirsten Dunst, IMHO. I can’t wait to see this and the hunger games.

HOT! Andrew wayyyyyyy better than Tobey.

  9. Shay Kay says:

First, I love Dennis Leary! Very distinctive voice that is even sexy in “Ice Age.”
Second, I love Martin Sheen. Another man with a very distinctive voice and one that has aged very well.
Third, I love Sally Field! She just a lovely actress.
Finally, I will see this and hope it’s better than the Maguire version. Those were good but I think there was definitely room for improvement so I’ve got a open mind.

his costume looks kinda cheap looking.

2nd trailer is meh like the 1st. The buzz on this film waned pretty quickly. Andrew was the darling of Comic Con, but I’ve heard little about this movie since. Compare that to the Avengers and that does not bode well for rebooted-too-soon Spidey.

Sometimes it’s good not to over promote a film though. Think about how many times a film hasn’t met your expectations.

I’m not that impressed with the trailer. I will it see though, because I love Emma and Andrew.

This looks incredible. Andrew is def going to make one hell of a Spiderman. He and Emma are adorable and perfect together. Sigh 🙂

Nothing like a tall drink of dork hotness.

Andrew Garfield is going to dominate this franchise. He’s a fabulous actor, has Emma by his side…

My Spidey Sense say it’s going to be a smash!

I don’t know. I tried to watch the first movie with toby and had to turn after about 30 mins in to it. After watching the trailer… I still don’t want to waste 13.50 on this movie. Maybe I will change my mind by July.

I am anxiously waiting for Prometheus and TDKR though. Rapace + Fassbender = perfection. Hardy is going to own TDKR.

That last pic is soooo hot! I don’t understand why they’re (Hollywood) rebooting movies that were released only a couple of years prior. Girl With The Dragon Tattoo etc.

  17. Amanda G says:

I like Andrew and Emma a lot, but I have no interest in this reboot. I’m so tired of comic book movies.

  18. Sasha says:

Hot damn! That last picture is super hot. I do love a beautiful man made all vulnerable with cuts and bruises. Mmmmmmmmmm….

  19. Camille (The original) says:

I’m not an Andrew Garfield fan (I don’t think I have ever seen him in anything before), but I like the look of his take on Spider Man here. It looks like a fun popcorn flick. Plus I like Emma. I’ll probably see it when its on DVD.

  20. Raven says:

I liked the fact he was a smartass when the crook asked him if he was a cop. Spiderman was a smartass in the comics, making intentionally bad quips or sarcastic remarks when fighting, even sometimes singing.

Hardly done in the Tobey MaGuire versions.
