Suri Cruise brings Paddington Bear to the park

I think there’s a decent chance that Suri Cruise is the most photogenic celebrity baby out there – at least when she’s not scared to death by the paparazzi. Katie and Tom take her out a lot, especially since they’re been in New York while Katie performs in All My Sons. Suri seemed especially happy yesterday as she and Katie went for a stroll – and she got to bring along her Paddington Bear.

Suri Cruise took her new best friend to the park yesterday - a miniature Paddington Bear. The two-year-old walked hand-in-hand with mother Katie Holmes, who carried the unmistakable red hatted teddy.

When they got to the park near their New York home actress Katie entertained a delighted Suri by standing Paddington on a railing.

Katie carried a warm blanket in case of chills, as the two went for their stroll.

Despite her tender age Suri is already proving to be a stylish young lady, no doubt helped by her fashionable mother. The tot held out her velvet dress as she walked down the street in silver Mary Janes and black leggings.

During the day the pair explore the city together. Then while Katie is at work Suri plays in her own VIP area at the theatre, which comes complete with a little piano.

[From the Daily Mail]

It makes me really happy that kids still have Paddington Bears – he doesn’t talk or have a screen or buttons or anything. Well, he has buttons, but they’re on his little coat, not the kind that are attached to handheld electronics. Thus I assumed Paddington had no appeal to anyone but stick-up-their-asses sorts like me. Both Katie and Suri seem so much livelier in their expressions and body language when they’re out alone together. They obviously have a close mother daughter relationship.

Here’ s Here are Katie and Suri out in Manhattan yesterday. Images thanks to Bauer-Griffin and Fame.

  1. It concerns me Suri never wears a coat in a NY cold weather. She will get pneumonia if she keeps dressing like that. I also notice she never wears socks too. This is really bad. It seems Katie only cares about fashion but not her child’s health.

  2. I think Suri would feel much more comfortable wearing socks and a pair of sneakers. The kind of flat little dress shoes she wears can’t promote good foot health in the future if she’s wearing them all the time.

  3. At least this time the dress has long sleeves. And it’s velvet. Now there’s a sensible fabric for a kid to wear to the park!

Katie’s always toting that blanket and playing with Suri’s toys with her. Of course they’re close, Katie’s the only friend Suri has.

Pitiful. And I blame the cult more than the obviously not-bright parents.

  4. Lol! Fashionable mother?! Very sweet pics of Suri, gorgeous little kid, but the parents are seriously creeping me out. They seem to be utterly clueless when it comes to exposing their child to unnecessary attention.

  5. I don’t think Suri is the only friend Katie has. Katie does have friends only that we do not see them all the time like we do not see friends of most celebs, Jessica Alba, Halle Berry, Biel etc.

She is a beautiful child. She seems to have a very strong personality. You can see it in her actions and facial expressions.

  6. @ Jscott

My little girl Violet only wears “ruby slippers”. On the inside of the shoe, the arch, etc. is made the same as sneakers, our pediatrician says it is fine. Suri’s may be made the same. Dress shoes have really changed since we were little.

I understand your concern though as Katie seems to have no concept of appropriate child care.

  7. i live in NYC and it was nearly 70 degrees yesterday

  8. I agree with Leandra. As someone who walks the cold, hard, uneven sidewalks of NYC daily, more than a thin leather sole is required, even for a few blocks, which to a kid may as well be a mile.
The form of her karate kick makes me wonder if she’s taking lessons. The millennium’s Damien child has good extension.

  9. Yourself, please read my post. I said Katie is the only friend Suri has, not vice versa.

  10. She looks weather appropriate. Hurray!

I’m pleased, as well, that Suri is amused by a simple stuffed animal. It’s like that old joke about kids - you can buy them the most expensive toy in the store, and when they get home, they want to play with the box it came in. :D

  12. Cute pictures, she still needs a coat. Not too long ago i was FROZEN in NYC i can only imagine how cold it would be for a little child… but then again, Suri cant model her 4,000$ outfits if shes wearing a jacket. Its a fashion no-no

  13. Yay for Paddington Bear! I still have mine at my mom’s house.

However, as an only child, I can tell ya that no stuffed buddy replaces the need for kids to interact with one another

  14. :( I never had a Paddington bear. :(

  15. That is one cute kid.

Having known a few really headstrong little girls in my days in the classroom, I can believe Suri wears what she wears (or doesn’t) because she wants to and has mastered the art of two-year-old persuasion. (They can be tenacious lil crumbsnatchers.) Parents have to pick their battles, lest they exhaust themselves before they win the war. 8)

Mr. and Mrs. Cruise may be nuttier than fruitcake, but I’m not ready to write Katie off as a terrible mom just yet.

  18. @ Jess haha.

Suri looks much warmer than usual and I love when she’s kicking, it just so cute. give her a few months and she’ll be running intereference with the pappers for her parents. Hi-yah!

  19. Jess- Suri DOES look just like Chris Klein. I put her, him and Hartnett side by side, it’s pretty convincing…

Also, it wasn’t “nearly 70 degrees yesterday” in the city. I was out in it all day and it was clammy and in the low 60s.

And–again– kids ‘refusing to wear’ climate-appropriate clothing is a non-argument. I wish people would stop offering that up as a valid excuse for child neglect.

  20. Why is this little girl before the cameras EVERYDAY?

also, she never seems to be seen playing with other kids…..amongst other things, how is she going to learn to share her toys —so important for later life

there is something not right here

  21. Glad to see Katie ditched those ugly rolled up jeans. Suri is precious! It’s just funny that Tom, Katie and Suri all have the same hairstyle.

Even if it’s not too cold, she should still carry maybe a light sweater?

  22. First they were letting Suri’s bangs hang in her face and now it looks like they’re trimmed every day. That haircut blows!Sorry, I don’t think her eyes look like mom or dad’s.

  25. I feel sorry for this kid…growing up in a brainwashed controlling environment, thinking the whole world revolves around her. Hopefully someday she’ll break away from the Tom mind control…

  27. Suri is such a cutie, and obviously has a very active imagination. I love looking at the photos of this adorable child, but the pic showing Suri and mom surrounded by people taking pictures was appalling. Please, Celebitchy, try to cut back on the number of pics you buy from the paps. Coverage once a week is plenty, and then I won’t have to writhe in guilt every time I click through their photos…

  28. i find it amazing that people talk like this child is their child. should tom and katie call you about what to dress her in? would she be better off in foster care?

funny how people don’t have a comment about how the pap scare this child but i suppose that’s her parents fault right?
people get a life and take care of your own damn kids.

  29. Oh, Lanette, we’ve had lots of posts about how the paps scare Suri and maybe, just maybe, her parents shouldn’t parade her around in front of them quite so much. Check the archives.

  30. It looks like it’s warm in NYC or something because Katie rolled up the sleeves to her jacket even. So I take it it’s not that cold. When Suri feels cold she’ll wear a jacket. You guys are so weird about that. Suri is ADORABLE!!! AWWWW!

  31. She looks more and more like Tom’s creepy cousin, William Mapother, everyday! That child never smiles though, or seems to make eye contact. Katie just looks drained.

  32. Lighten up people about the kid not wearing a coat. Jeez, you act like Suri’s in Alaska. It’s only Oct/November now. I grew up in Pa. and as a kid I never wore a damn coat in the fall or spring, only when it snowed. At least give Katie that, she seems to adore her little girl and takes care of her. They’re both poor things trapped in a fish bowl.
