Last night, the Independent Spirit Awards were held in LA – you can see the list of winners and nominees here. Michelle Williams walked away a winner, at last, for Best Actress for My Week With Marilyn. I don’t hate her victory here – just as long as there isn’t a chance in hell she’ll win at the Oscars. Anyway, the Spirit Awards always seem like a fun night, and it must be nice for celebrities to go to an awards show in casual/business clothes. In past years, people have shown up in jeans and tank tops, but these days, more people are actually putting together “looks”. Take Michelle – if there was ever a time for her to wear one of her high-necked, Peter-Pan-collared baby doll dresses, the Spirit Awards would be it. But Michelle decided to go for a more modern look in Louis Vuitton, with a dark blazer, short “dress” shorts and a blouse. I don’t hate the outfit, I just wish the blazer had a slimmer cut, and I would have paired the blazer and shorts with something other then a blouse buttoned all the way to the neck. Still, Michelle has great legs, and I like that she’s showing them off more. One last (bad) thing: her Beatle haircut is starting to make her look like one of the Children of the Corn.
Here’s Michelle’s date (I’m sure), Busy Phillips in vintage. Dear God, this dress is AWFUL. You know I like Busy Phillips, but why does she always make herself look like ass when she’s Michelle’s “date”? Is it to make Michelle look good?
Jeffrey Dean Morgan and his baby-mama/girlfriend Hilary Burton were there. She plucks my last nerve, and he needs a shave. I’m still not sure about them as a couple too.
Here’s Jessica Chastain in Armani. Will she choose Armani for the Oscars? The thing about Armani is that it’s usually a very clean, simple look. Which could be very boring on Chastain. Of course, if left to her own devices, I think Chastain’s personal style is probably pretty rough, so Armani it is.
Shailene Woodley in PANTS!! I love that this girl wears pants on the red carpet. I love this outfit too, the black pants with the sparkly shirt and the interesting shoes (?? I’m not a shoe person). She won Best Supporting Actress too, for The Descendants.
Kiki Dunst in Dolce & Gabbana. She looks really, really good here. I would have loved to have seen Michelle Williams in this outfit.

I hate her style. Stop with this virgin mary outfits. I hate her hair too. She needs longer, soft hair aroud her face and jaw line. Now she looks like lollipop. Big head and body like some stick.
I hate her style as well. I can’t think of one nice thing to say about it. That short hair is the worst. Very few women– Demi Moore comes to mind–can pull that off.
I agree that I don’t like Michelle’s blazer. It’s too boxy. But I’m glad she changed it up from the baby doll dresses.

I don’t mind Michelle’s hair cut just wish she would go darker the color that her hair is know blends in to her completion and dose nothing for her.
She had strawberry blonde hair not too long ago and I really liked it. Much better than the Platinum blonde she’s sporting.

I like Kirsten Dunsts dress, but I don’t care for the shoes. I don’t know who this Shailene person is, but I like her outfit except again for the shoes. I’m more of a sneaker or flats person myself, I don’t see how these ladies can walk in heels. I’d fall flat on my face. The other outfits are all fugly.
Chastain needs shoes that fit! Those toes hanging over her shoes are Jessica-Simpson atrocious!

This is her moment to shine and they come up with this blah.They missed the opportunity to make her look like a STAR during this oscar campaign.
The only time she looked good was at the Baftas and also in that pink Balenciaga dress.The rest was horrible she and Berenice should fire their fashion teams.
That was the first thing I noticed as well…her toes are hanging out the front of those shoes…not a good look!!!!!!

On anyone else those shorts would be called booty shorts and I would be fine with the look. But on her she looks like a little French school boy who got into his mother’s closet by “accident”. I just do not understand how she does it. And I don’t want to know either. I would be fine with her winning the Oscar. Patricia on the other hand….
I think this is the best the Kirsten has looked in a while. I was surprised when I read that she was wearing Dolce because she is always in something avante garde and a tad ugly. Everything from her fresh makeup to the shoes are fantastic.
I am a new Jessica C fanatic but she has a horrible sense of style. There is always something off about what she is wearing. This suit is inappropriate for the beach. It would work better at a luncheon in Manhattan. But I like her hair.
SW looks cute. I liked that she was on the red carpet for a few minutes without the shoes. I cannot really tell from the photo but from what I can see her shoes are killer.
I seem to remember Julia Roberts wore something very similar to Michelle here while promoting “eat, pray, love”. It did look more like “booty shorts” on her as you say, but personally I prefered it on Michelle – I think she gives it more a high fashion iconic sort of look.

Thne Spirit Awards is on the beach in a tent. It has always meant to be a very casual affair. People have worn beachy apparel like shorts and beachy outfits since the beginning I believe. I remember Jennifer Connelly wore pedal pushers with a jacket and looked fabulous – for her nom for Requiem.
Williams is adorable and stylish. I love her hair very blonde and short. It suits her and I am envious of how easy it must be to take care of daily. She reminds me of pics I’ve seen of Jean Seberg.
Not my fave outfit but it suits her and is appropriate for the event.
Now Busy Phillips looks tacky in that blue dress. It screams Housefrau Night at the Grand Ole Opry. The only thing she’s missing is a corsage.

I heard MW in an NPR interview this week; it had been recorded last year sometime. I came in in the middle without knowing who was being interviewed, and I heard this breathy voice saying, “Oh, there’s a quote from Baudelaire that I believe is the truth, and…” and I almost crashed my car from rolling my eyes. About 3 minutes later I discovered it was MW, panting and slow-talking her way through another pretentious interview. Just STFU, Michelle.

Kirsten Dunst has been looking so smashing all season long, fashion-wise (hair and makeup too). She looks like she’s been having a blast, too (Rooney Mara, are you taking notes?).

I absolutely love Michelles outfit! I love formal shorts and heels (if worn right) and I like that she wore a more boxy jacket instead of a fitted one.
That is the best Dunst has looked in more than a decade.
I want to see her as a Jean Seberg type, but it just doesn’t suit her. She looked so lovely when she was with Heath Ledger- she needs to go back to the softer look, like when she wore the yellow dress at the Oscars. She’s in her 30s; what’s with the weird hipster looks? I’m kind of wondering if she’s deep in the closet.
Michelle’s jacket is cut such that she didn’t need a blouse/shirt under it. That would have looked better.

Children oF The Corn gave me nightmares for about 5 years. Ok, so I saw it when I was wee but still, scariest film in the world in my opinion. I still crap myself if am near a cornfield. Fact. Not an interesting one, but one none the less.

In the last set of pics, and in this one, Michelle has looked really pretty, to me. Her face is flawless, perfect skin and her hair is looking better just a little grown out. Outfit…meh. Busy Phillips, I swear I made a dress just like that one for my Holly Hobby doll back in 3rd grade. Kirsten never ages, I swear that girl’s a vampire.
Jessica Chastain’s shoes needed to be at least half size bigger, other than that she looks fine. Michelle sticks to her own style no matter what, she should hire a stylist. Lately Kirsten has been looking really great.
Thank you, Celebitchy! What this world needs is more women being judged for how they look and dress. You are doing a true service to this world and to future generations of young women who will grow up knowing that no matter what they accomplish, if they don’t look perfect they will be judged and deemed as less than. I’m all for the social commentary on the narcissism and egomania of Hollywood, but do you really need to devote your site to tearing other women apart for how they look? You really need to consider changing your tagline from “Escapism can be smart” to “I feel bad about myself so I judge other women to make myself feel better.” It doesn’t take much intelligence to do what you do here.

I think Michelle looks great here. She switched it up, but of course it still isn’t good enough. No, she doesn’t stand a chance at the Oscars, but in my heart, she deserves that trophy 100%. I don’t care about the PR moves talking about being a mother, missing Heath, blah blah. For what was put up on that screen, she deserves it.
Poor Jessica is lost fashion wise. I love her, but I have very little hope for the Oscars.

This is the first thing Michelle wears that I actually like. At least she wasn’t wearing pink and covered in fairy dust. She looked a bit edgier than usual.
And I love the hair. I’m a bit biased to talk about this, because my hair looks exactly the same, haha.

Something about Michelle is boring me now, her voice, meekness. I like these awards because it’s casual, and they can show more of a unique but casual style. The red carpet doesn’t take itself so seriously.
Well this is a lovely outfit… if you’re planning to enroll in boy’s grammar school in the UK. Has she exhausted her Little Bo Peep fashion collection? Because this is NOT a step in the right direction.
I don’t get how someone who is a size 0 could play Marilyn Monroe who was at least a size 14! Just because she dyed her hair and spoke in a whisper voice doesn’t make her Marilyn That would be like an 5’2″ actor playing Shaq in a movie. That is why I haven’t seen the movie. I would never be able to believe her as Marilyn.
Michelle does her best in the part and does manage to capture some of Marilyn’s energy/mannerisms but it was poor casting – she simply looks nothing like her and it’s distracting. She pulls off this schoolboy look much better than the Marilyn look.
