Beyonce & Jay-Z take a blanket-covered Blue Ivy to lunch in NYC

Here are the first candid photos of Beyonce and Jay-Z with their daughter Blue Ivy. We’ve seen the posed photos of course – go here to see those pics again. Bey, Jay and Blue were photographed taking their daughter out for a late lunch at Sant Ambroeus in New York City yesterday. You can’t even see Blue – I guess that’s the baby in Beyonce’s arms, swaddled in blankets. I see Bey is already back to leather pants. I like how protective Jay looks of his wife and daughter. This is probably one of their first big outings as a family! Cute.

In other Beyonce news, you know how we were discussing LeAnn Rimes’s public shill for a gig on The X Factor? Well, apparently Simon Cowell is very interested in Beyonce for either the UK X-Factor or the American version, but he probably won’t be able to meet her price:

Pop superstar Beyoncé wants an eye-watering $50million to be a judge on X Factor. Show supremo Simon Cowell approached her about taking the role to mark her return to showbiz following the birth of her baby girl Blue Ivy Carter. But The Crazy in Love star is said to have told him she’d only do it for a $50million contract – making her the highest-paid TV star in Britain.

Her wage demands are a major stumbling block – as the £32million figure is roughly equivalent to ITV’s entire production budget for a complete series. It comes as Cowell, 52, is preparing to revamp the ITV show’s judging panel after last year’s series was marred by a series of bitter on-air rows.

Kelly Rowland – who clashed with Tulisa over hopeful Mischa B – is understood to have been given the boot. Tulisa, Take That star Gary Barlow and X Factor veteran Louis Walsh are waiting to hear whether they will survive the shake-up.

Cowell’s bold approach to Beyonce – Kelly’s cousin and former Destiny’s Child bandmate – follows rumours that she had bought a home in Surrey with rapper husband Jay-Z. The New York-based superstar is currently focused on being a mum after the birth last month of Blue – the couple’s first child.

A source close to ITV said: “Even Simon was shocked by the scale of Beyonce’s demands. However, she would be an incredible signing.”

However, Beyonce has also been tipped as a possible recruit to the US version of the show – where Cowell is looking for two new judges after firing Pussycat Doll Nicole Sherzinger and Paula Abdul.

Last week the music mogul opened the door to the possibility of making a sensational return to the UK judging panel himself after a year out.

He let slip during an interview at a charity event that he would consider changes to his schedule to allow him to take part in both Britain’s Got Talent and X Factor.

He said: “Do you know what? I’m going to see maybe if we can move the dates around so I can do both shows the future because I miss it.”

Cheryl Cole has ruled herself out of returning to the show.

[From The Mirror]

I know that I should be all “I can’t believe Beyonce is asking for that much money.” But I can’t. Beyonce probably just jacked up her asking price so much because she really doesn’t want to take the gig. I mean, she’s still one of the most internationally popular musical acts – there’s no reason for her to “slum it” on a reality show, you know? I understand that The X Factor is a huge deal in the UK, but in America, you only do reality programming when your career is on the downward swing.

She should rethink the leather pants-as-sausage-casing look, and the shoes are stupid.

$50 million to judge a television program? Then I want to never ever hear again that “Wall Street” is greedy or that “bankers” are responsible for the collapse of Western Civilization. It such obscene money going to this breed of mediocrity (her, Madonna, “J-Lo”) that is the (mostly) unspoken travesty.

I don’t think she has a real baby wrapped up like that. It looks fake. The way she is acting and everything looks fake in this photo. Hm..

You know, I was thinking the same thing. Maybe they didn’t bother to shoot the picture if one exists, but where is the diaper bag? You don’t roll anywhere w/o it when you have a baby. Not even to the mailbox. No one is even carrying a bottle.

Not saying it isn’t unlikely that they don’t have a Louis Vuitton change-bag plus set of bottles… but I never used a changebag. Never saw the point; a nappy and wipes fitted in my usual bag just fine, and I nursed so didn’t need a bottle, either. A couple of those tiny nappy disposal bags and a couple of clean muslins and you’re away.

Changebags are usually hideous, bulky and hard to carry, and I think they’re a giant con, tbh. Maybe it’s a Brit thing.

It’s in a sling. That blue thing in the photos? I think it’s a Hug-a-Bub for newborns. The feet tuck in and you can actually make feet shapes out in those shots. A wrap sling, and the baby is suspended that way. You cuddle them around it.

I’ve no idea what the deal is with these two – not a fan of either, in fact I’d struggle to name more than a couple of songs apiece – but I had one of those slings myself so it looks pretty normal to me (and in cold weather you do snuggle them right down, it’s manufacturer’s advice).

X Factor will end up with a couple of 3rd rate judges that Simon fancies, he’s been saying he’s “considering” tons of singers like Whitney (before she died), Mariah, Beyonce, Janet Jackson etc like they’re all just CLAMOURING to get the role lmao
He can throw names about all he likes but it doesn’t mean these women want the role, Mariah already said she wouldn’t consider it and as for the rest they hardly need the money.
The problem with XFactor (Besides the sob stories and dumb non singer contestants) is that all the judges spend too much time sucking up to Simon Cowell and he’d never get a judge who is big enough not to do that. This is a reason “The voice” does so well, there is no “head judge” they’re all equal and don’t suck up to anybody else.

It’s old news but the rumor has it that it was 100$m per year for the US and then he said that it wasn’t true so…

I guess that since he fired Kelly(the best jury on that stupid show),the gossip world had to throw B’s name somewhere. Remember that a lot of people(Kelly Rowland’s stans) say that kelly isn’t has big has B today in the US because B’s pimp father sabotaged her career.

One thing is sure Simon is in trouble i don’t think his shows are doing that well(He said: “Do you know what? I’m going to see maybe if we can move the dates around so I can do both shows the future because I miss it.”)Bullsh-t!I miss it my ass!

I think Simon’s days are numbered. The Aus X Factor has 4 equal judges (a weird mix including Ronan Keating and Scary Spice!). None of those extremely successful women would lower themselves to play second fiddle to Simon. It says a lot about JLo that she’s on US Idol. However it would be magical to see Madonna in such a role even if it was for one episode. Whatever you say about her now, she is an icon. Most of the contestants wouldn’t appreciate her legacy.

She’s not carrying the baby – if you look at her belly, she has her in a wrap sling (Hug a Bub, Moby or similar). And you carry them snuggled like that in winter. Also, if she’s nursing then all you need when out is a nappy (diaper) or two, some wipes, a muslin and a fresh babygro. Her pockets could hold that – the hideously huge truck thing certainly could! I think changebags are a con. Bulky, ugly and totally unnecessary.

I also am a little… what? That some people (not you) are suggesting you shouldn’t take a baby out of the house in winter. It’s a baby, not a gossamer web. But I’d rather die than wear leather trousers after a baby, and my baby is now three, so….

I do hope this is just a PR thing, and the real baby is at home, because this is really not how you are supposed to carry a small child.

Plus, wearing those pants when most women would be either in pain or still bleeding and swollen after giving birth, will not help her “case”.

I’m not sure why would any sane person fake a pregnancy.

S/he did say “probably”. I mean, standard medical advice is it takes 6 weeks to recover from delivery, and if you have an easy time (or lie about ever being pregnant, as is alleged here by some posters) obviously that’s shorter. In my case I was out and about in 3 days and recovered, pretty well, in 7. I had a nasty pregnancy but a really easy birth, so it wasn’t long at all.

I dunno. I think her trousers are horrible and that huge truck they’re in is downright weird, but she’s got the baby nicely wrapped up in a sling and blankies, her husband looks smitten with the kid as well and very protective, and she’s only going to a cafe via car – not running a marathon.

I’m sure there are reasons I don’t know about why people dislike her so much, but I have to say, it gets a bit wearing as a parent to see other people dictating the last detail on how others should do it. I tend to be a live and let live mother, myself. Suggesting you should keep your baby in quarantine before they get their first vaccinations, or that you just shouldn’t take a baby out of the house, seems really extreme. maybe it’s a cultural thing, but we’re told the opposite here – get out and about, get engaged with the world, babies are portable.(That last isn’t aimed at you – I know your only comment was on post-partum bleed, sorry, it’s just something that has really struck me on this thread.)

  30. whatthehell456 says:

Taking an infant out in public unnecessarily before having their first immunization shots is rather negligent of them. The baby could come into contact with a number of virus’ that she has no immune system for yet. Common sense people!

Of course that’s if there’s a real baby under all those blankets :)

Report this comment as spam or abuse

    • Kate #2 says:

You’re protected by your mother’s immunity for the first few weeks. That’s why the immunisation schedule is when it is. And herd immunity (vaccinated population) protects too, of course. TBH I’m really startled by the comments on that here – maybe it’s a British thing, but I had my baby out and about on the Wednesday and he was born the Sunday before. And that’s normal. You aren’t meant to walk much, to give your body recovery time, but a cafe via car? Fine. Healthy, in fact, is the attitude. A mother who stays in/leaves her baby behind is considered likelier to have post-partum depression and bonding issues, is the thinking – and the idea of leaving my baby at such a young age, even for an hour, would have been unthinkable at the time. They’re so enmeshed with you at that age.

      Must be a cultural difference.

      • Pia says:

I would say it’s a culture thing on a smaller scale, as in a family-to-family basis on what they deem appropriate, rather than a US thing in general. It is not uncommon to see a new baby out in public now and then, though people here are a little more germaphobic and it bugs me. Some people do not really understand why the colostrum is different and so important, and it works the same way in all mammals.

Report this comment as spam or abuse

      • whatthehell456 says:

Mother’s immunity only works if you’re breastfeeding. It just seems unnecessary to take the baby out on what was apparently a “bitterly cold day” (see comments about weather above) to a restaurant for lunch. Anyone ever heard of ordering in?
As for the bonding, it either happens or it doesn’t. I had post-partum depression directly after my first born and my husband attempted to help us bond by “forcing” us together which I grew to resent and it actually made it worse. So again, it either happens or it doesn’t.

Report this comment as spam or abuse

      • Kate #2 says:

Actually it isn’t only if you’re breastfeeding. Obviously colostrum is essential if you can manage that/choose to breastfeed, but a baby still has some of his/her mother’s immunity after being in her womb, too.

Babies are exposed to thousands of new germs every day, it’s how they build immunity. If you live in a part of the world where there are horrible airborne diseases all over the place, then sure, keep them home. But if you live in a place where most common contagious infections are vaccinated against, and you observe good hygiene, why in the world not take them to a cafe now and then? The baby is cuddled in a wrap with blankets everywhere for a brief trip from car to cafe door. That’s hardly out for a stroll in the bitter chill, is it.

Obviously not everyone should have to parent the same way – I’m sorry you were pushed that way, that must have been horrible. But that’s kind of my point. I get so fed up with the Mummy Wars. You know – puree or baby-led weaning; breast or bottle; attachment or routine; SAHM or working. I just feel like loving parents should be allowed to parent as they feel best, as long as it isn’t actually provably harmful, because a well loved kid with a happy mother is probably going to be just fine. The amount of critique aimed at mothers is staggering. Dina Lohan and Courtney Love, fair enough. Someone wearing their baby in a sling taking them to a cafe in winter, well wrapped up? Not so much. In fact in the mothering circles I move in, that would be regarded as exemplary parenting!

Having said that, I shall now be a huge hypocrite by observing that if she rode in that truck with the baby strapped to her in that wrap, she is a cretin. Some mothers think it’s like a car-seat- what it actually does is add the impact of your own body to the force of any crash, making it even worse for the baby. Maybe she put the baby in the wrap just to go into the cafe – hope so!

So instead when people call her out, like the fact that the baby is only a couple of months old and she’s already leaving the baby on her own when she doesn’t have to, a few days later she comes out in “regular” gear, with no heels, looking like the tired mommy with her camel transportation and “baby” in tow so we see how dedicated she is.

OMG u all wanna keep seeing her face and this and that but THINK about it. If bey walked around with nothing covering that baby she would be in more trouble. When bey goes out she doesn’t no if she’ll be surround by papparzi or not so therefore all those cameras and ashes could BLIND the child AND it might be cold. Look at how there dress. All I’m saying is if she did what y’all wanted she would be worst celebrity mother. I also see mothers doing the same thing. My aunt does that with her baby ALL the time she puts the coat on then throws the blanket over her. My mom-a nurse told me people do this to keep all that air out of the baby’s face for medical reasons beyonce is actually doing the RIGHT thing.HOP off her back!!!!!!! Sheesh
