Dr. Drew still hates Angelina Jolie: “She has the stigmata of malnutrition”

Dr. Drew hates Angelina Jolie. Everyone has the right to hate Angelina or any other celebrity – that in and of itself doesn’t bother me. What bugs me is that Dr. Drew bases his opinion of Angelina on tabloid reports – which he believes whole-heartedly, especially In Touch Weekly – and Dr. Drew uses those tabloid reports to create a medical “diagnosis” of Angelina’s issues. And then he tells the world his diagnoses in interviews or on his show. Dr. Drew does this about many celebrities that he has never treated – in the past few years, he’s “diagnosed” Scarlett Johansson, Ryan Reynolds, Eva Longoria, Miley Cyrus and many, many more. But he really has a hard-on for “calling out” Angelina specifically, as he has many times in the past. His latest hate-on for Jolie is with her appearance at the Oscars. Of course.

Her turn on the red carpet at the Oscars on Sunday made headlines across the globe. Almost a week on, THAT picture of Angelina Jolie’s jutting right leg is still generating talk – but now for different reasons.

Dr Drew appeared on The View today where he said Jolie looks dangerously malnourished in the eye-catching image.

As the picture was flashed up on a screen behind him, he warned that women should not regard the actress as an ideal of beauty on account of her remarkably skinny figure.

“She’s malnourished,” he claimed, before reiterating: “I just see malnutrition. We should not look at that as an ideal of beauty, even though she might be a beautiful woman. It’s another condition where, I saw that, and I spoke up about it on my HLN program, because I felt I had to. I am tired of keeping quiet about this stuff. When I was quiet about the prescription drug use and everybody started dying, and now I feel an obligation to speak up. She’s malnourished. She has the stigmata of malnutrition. There are reports, Us Weekly reported she was doing it to make a statement about the kids in Africa that she was working with that didn’t have a chance to eat. Who knows what the reason is. I just see malnutrition there and we shouldn’t look at that as an ideal of beauty is what I’m saying. She’s a beautiful woman, but she needs to be better nourished.”

[Via The Mail & Dlisted]

Enough, Dr. Drama Queen. Enough. She’s really skinny. We get it. I’d like to see her eat a sandwich as well, and I don’t even have a “doctorate” to whore out with my opinions. WTF is the “stigmata of malnutrition”??? Was he trying to say “stigma” or is really so much of an epic concern-troll that he’s comparing Angelina’s skinny arms to STIGMATA? Dr. Drew continued, “The fact that she would look awesome if she gained twenty pounds is just like the crucifixion! I’m tired of no one listening to ME!!!! And if you call me a hack, I‘ll diagnosis you with narcissistic personality disorder, so help me God. I‘m just like Saint Peter. No on ever realizes that.”

Here are some photos of Angelina out and about yesterday. She and Brad went to McDonalds with the kids, and then Angelina took some of the kids to a movie.

It is open season on Angelina Jolie, she has been protected for a long time by the media and her zealot fans. But she is Angelina so positive or negative, she is enjoying the publicity. Look how she rode the homewrecker wave of publicity. She just enjoys attention. Dr Drew is so annoying.

    • Lacey says:

Agreed. She is very aware of the image she presents to the world, and she is fully enjoying the publicity. Btw, her convenient trip to McDonald’s was such an obvious publicity stunt…

      • lisa says:

Really because the have gone before

      • Freya says:

All families go out and sometimes they even go to McDonalds. Why is it that every time the Jolie-Pitts go out it’s called a publicity stunt?
Are they expected to stay home and never to go out because BP and AJ are famous?

      • Flea says:

Going to McDonald’s doesn’t equal eating at McDonald’s so I would think if she wanted publicity to insinuate she eats, she’d just eat in public. Just a thought.

Another thought I hadn’t considered before this, is maybe she doesn’t starve herself out of a desire to look thin. Maybe because she does so much charity work with people who are actually starving she feels guilty when it comes time for her to eat. That would be a whole different kind of eating disorder. I had similar issues after attending some PETA functions as a teenager & could no longer eat meat. In my neck of the woods in Texas there just wasnt much for vegetarians (food or information) and I ate horribly and ended up down to 87 pounds at 5’5″. Seems it would be worse if guilt over starving people kept her from eating because she’d feel guilty no matter what she ate.

Hmmm. Maybe my big bootay needs to do some charity work!

    • Ha says:

What? Protected? Having you been living under a rock? Angelina has been attacked for years now. Just look at the archives on this site alone.

      Brad is the ~protected ~one.

    • Ailine says:

She didn’t ride the homewrecker wave. What does that even mean? That was BAD publicity. And if she did, it would be easy to stop the “wave” if people didn’t keep bringing it up ALL THE TIME. It’s not like she’s jumping up and down saying, “I’m a homewrecker. Look at me.” I dont get this comment.

      • Jill says:

        @Mistryness: Jennifer, is that you?

      • Jill says:

@Mistryness: LOL you are a trip. Demonizing Jolie doesn’t make her “pure evil”, it just makes you look purely ridiculous.

I’ve always said Aniston’s biggest problem is her fans. With fans like you, who needs enemies?

    • Maguita says:

Anyone pointing out that “stigmata” is the Christ’s nailed hands syndrome, and what was meant here was “stigma”?

Angie being all Christ-like is a bit too much.

    • Freya says:

Dr Drew just wants some attention, and he knows talking about AJ will get him that attention. I bet he is reading this thread!

I’d agree that if AJ gains a few pounds she’d look even better. Just leave her alone. I think that she looks even thinner in a country where so many are overweight!

    • Sloane Wyatt says:

I’m no trumped up expert like the blow hard Dr. Drew, but Ms. Jolie looks horribly malnourished to me. She and Demi Moore could easily wear one anothers’ size ana clothing. Angie’s look reminds me of all those actresses who developed eating disorders on ‘Aly McBeal’.

For once, I’d like to see and read about female stars sticking to their guns, sort of unionize or something, and tell all those creepy male/or whatever directors they are just going to have to accept their size 6 or 8 healthy and nourished bodies. Larger sizes are fine too, but the Size O trend must stop!

      • anytime says:

        i agree on all accounts

      • gg says:

Does anybody remember that she has a tattoo across her stomach (unless she recently had it removed) that says (I think it’s in Latin or something): THAT WHICH NOURISHES ME, DESTROYS ME.

Okay, if that isn’t an inducement for her anorexia, I don’t know what is.

      • demian bichir says:

        “size ANA clothing”LOL!
Sloane Wyatt I 100% agree with your comment!
gg I never thaught of that before !
Quod me nutrit me destruit (What nourishes me also destroys me) — Angelina Jolie’s Tattoo.Maybe she’s really sick.

I mean what do you expect from an EX model turned actress in hollyweird? From what i know ain’t no big gurl in this town getting a 20m$ per film paycheck!
Her and her bone lover bf are made for each other.
Wasn’t he the one who told Jonah hill to lose weight?

      • anytime says:

gg and demian birchir, that tattoo has been one of the most frequently used anorexic quotes and i have seen many people irl who had the same tat as angelina (in the same gothic font and everything) and were also suffering from ana/mia. while it doesn’t at all refer to an unhealthy lifestyle, it is attributed to hippocrates, who also said that “all is poison, it’s the dosage that counts” he just meant that one should be careful to consume in a healthy manner. the good stuff only. so it’s silly that angie and all the e.d. girls got a completely wrong message out of it. he must be rolling over in his grave :/

      • Sunny says:

I absolutely agree with you that her appearance is very reminiscent of the “Ally” cast….and many others. I don’t think its “Angelina” per se, I think it’s symptomatic of a larger problem. MANY actresses are underweight, struggling with eating disorders, and it’s so sad that a size 6 is plus-size. BTW, about the “What nourishes me destroys me”, that is NOT an Angelina quote, nor is it pro-ED, it’s a phrase that symbolizes the paradoxical relationship of eating disorders and nutrition. For example (and ONLY example, I don’t want to offend anyone) an alcoholic can live without alcohol just as a drug addict can live without drugs – they re not required to sustain life. For people with eating disorders, we have to eat for survival. A friend of mine who was both a recovering alcoholic and in recovery for anorexia equated it to “Telling an alcoholic to live with having one glass of wine a day. Just one.” I can’t personally say if that’s true, but I can say as a person in recovery for bulimia the very thing I relied on for life and nourishment was the very thing killing me. Of course it’s not only about the food, but please do not think that phrase is in any way pro-ED. It is not.

    • Freya says:

It’s open season on Jolie because some think, or know that if they mention her they get in the news, and others just out of anger or envy. Just my opinion!

    • CarrotcakeFan says:

We must have a different Angelina Jolie in mind because the Angelina Jolie I know of has been never been protected on the contrary she has been attacked, villified and smeared for 8 years by the pro-Aniston media.

  2. C&M says:

Dr. Drew has no talent to stay in Hollywood other than leaching off stars to stay significant. I’m so sick of him. I wish Angelina or any star would sue this parasite.

    • Ailine says:

Yeah, at this point she should go after his license. I can’t believe that any self respecting doctor would have this much to say (publicly) about celebrities they’ve never met. I guess being a sell out makes really good money, huh Dr. Drew?

    • Jo 'Mama' Besser says:

I think people know that we’re calibrated to not take him seriously, so they’ll sue people for taking an unflattering photo, as per usual.

  3. Rita says:

Doctor Drew makes celebrity “diagnosies” to create a stigmna and a buzz about himself. Same as Dr. Phil.

  4. sm255 says:

Sooooo….basically DeVille is just unnaturally skinny to him based on the tabloids? Geez, we can’t always know how much she eats or doesn’t eat, imo.

Btw, can someone else who is politically minded in the media call her out for her (slight and ) questionable affiliation with a corrupt organization? I know she’s just a Goodwill Ambassador for Refugees, but we’re not THAT blind, Deville. *whispers* You’re still connected to them.

    • meme says:

I don’t know why St. Angie Ho is so proud of being a UN ambassador. The UN is a corrupt incompetent organization that squanders away donations. Then again, she doesn’t accomplish anything either except for oh look how sad i am photo ops at refugee camps.

      • sm255 says:

Yep. Not to forget about making a love story movie based on a situation that was completely on the one-sided perspective (funny, she should be smart enough to do enough background research to know that the UN Security Council’s protective services had a certain amount of FAULT as to what went on during that Bosnian genocide), do their work for them while they uselessly talk and create resolutions AND also contributes as a UN political and pretty celebrity puppet that the organization uses as a distraction from what is really going on inside the organization.

      • Freya says:

Many UN agencies do a lot of good work we never hear about! As usual, we only get to hear the bad stories. Why do you think the US remains a member of the UN if it’s so bad? I think it’s because the UN is the only organization to which all countries belong. It’s useful!

AJ is not a UN ambassador.
She is a goodwill ambassador for a UN agency (UNHCR), and I don’t know why anyone calls her a saint.

The pictures with refugees are part of being a goodwill ambassador of the UNHCR, and are published with the press release after a visit. Other goodwill ambassadors have their pictures taken too, but it seems AJ makes the news every time. The others don’t.

      • sm255 says:

@Freya: Ahuh. Keyword being ‘UN’. That’s still a connection that you cannot ignore. It’s still f**ked up that she’s connected to a virtually defunct organization that just talks the talk, not walk the walk (and also manages to f**k up a lot of things as well).

      • S_____ says:

The UN is vilified by right wingers and corporate interests because it tries to hold them to account. It’s not the ‘corrupt organization’ Republicans (and Fox) try to make it out to be.
Somewhat ineffectual? Maybe. Better than nothing? By a long shot.

    • demian bichir says:

“do their work for them while they uselessly talk and create resolutions AND also contributes as a UN POLITICAL and pretty celebrity puppet that the organization uses as a DISTRACTION from what is really going on inside the organization.”

sm255I can’t agree more with your comments! The UN is a corrupted institution. It’s an international mafia. The power is in the hand of the 1% of the world if you don’t believe me just ask BAN KI MOON or KOFI ANNAN.

      • Freya says:

Not even 1%. The UN has about 200 members, but only 5 countries have veto power in the SC. That’s ridiculous and needs changing.

      • demian bichir says:

Sadly,it’s not a useful organisation. They are pretending that they are doing good work(ex:St Angie ho cry baby photo ops using the suffering of refugees, it’s a win win situation for both of them but not for the poor people exploited),when they don’t really help the 99% of the world they only protect the 1% interest! The 99% of the world don’t have a voice in this institution. The big fish has the monopoly the little fish gets buried in the sand in the end.
People don’t need charity they need JUSTICE!
This organisation is a fraud! She knows it but it’s good PR for her. It’s all that matters free publicity.

  5. meme says:

do they ever take their kids to eat at anywhere but mcdonalds? st. angie ho isn’t aging well and she does look malnourished. glad she put that chicken leg away. and why are they still in LA? isn’t france, no, NOLA their REAL home?

    • The Original Mia says:

Of course, they don’t. Their children only get to eat a handful of times you’ve seen pictures of them at Mickey D’s. Kinda early for incoherent haterade, isn’t it?

      • meme says:

Sorry loon if you have reading comprehension issues. Here’s some more to get you all riled up – I don’t think their kids are all that cute and she’s been dressing Shiloh like a boy before the kid was old enough to pick out her own clothes.

      • teri says:

Don’t forget that it was Brad going acrossed the street to the boys clothing store letting Shiloh pick her OWN clothes out. By the way Angelina didn’t go on that trip.

    • Freya says:

You seem ‘over-interested’ in people you don’t even like. Why is that?

Don’t worry about other people’s children. Mind your own!

    • janie says:

cosign on the dressing shiloh as a boy. she is definitely behind it.
and she is way too skinny, and it is not natural. i don’t even want to hear the “she forgets to eat” business. woman has a nanny plus for each kid.

  6. Pont Neuf says:

Oh.My.God! The man who lives off exposing other people’s problems in the most distasteful, inconsiderate and cruel way imaginable, doesn’t like the Mother Theresa/Rigoberta Menchu wannabe?

Angelina Jolie is an adult who seems perfectly capable of making sound decisions and looks healthy. Yes, her legs are bony, knotty and horrible (you know, not everyone has great pins), but she isn’t wasting away. She’s just naturally skinny, and skinny women never have curvy, sensuous bodies. Get over it, Mr. Misery Exploiter for Ratings.

To be honest, I would be far more concerned about the fact that she is successful being such an appallingly bad actress, and seems to think that it’s OK to exploit the suffering of others for publicity (sorry, I can’t really defend this annoying cow)…

Or could it be that Dr Drew is jealous of the fact that she does it globally, while he has to rely on Reality TV and people who barely qualify as celebrities anymore?

    • Astrid says:

If you really think she’s healthy then you have a really weird vision of what makes a healthy person and you obviously didn’t see her at the Oscars where her arms were so thin they damn nearly disappeared into the background. It was painful to see.

And to people who are always saying she is naturally thin; while it is true she will never be pudgy or something along those lines, at a certain time she did manage to look like this: http://media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m00quaTnmN1qcyflk.jpg
So excuse me for when I have a hard time believing she’s “unable to gain weight, no matter how much she eats”.

I am actually glad it’s being brought under scrutiny.

      • heidiho says:

Holy crap she would be so flipping hot if she’d gain some weight, there is no hiding that this woman has an eating disorder plain and simple. Great pic she should fatten up, I totally think she’s a marginal actress but I love her for having Brad’s babies.

      • LAK says:

Astrid, you do know that she was on a special weight training and fattening diet for duration of that LARA CROFT shoot.

There was also huge scandal about the fact even with the weight gain, she was padded and any stills photoshopped to make her look bigger.

What ever your preferance, the woman has been a skinny minny with twiglet arms and legs right from the beginning.

Google pictures of her with BBT or even earlier before LARA CROFT. Except for her youthful round face, she was skinny.

        Some people are like that.

people use the picture of her for the one year in her life where she was on a special fattening diet to say that is her normal weight when it not…’shakes head’

      • miri says:

all that weight she gained and she still had tiny forearms and big hands, no wonder no that she is thinner they look like that. She does not store fat in her arms, not even when pregnant her arms looked moer than thin.
HEr cest does not lok bony.
her shoulders and arms do, but she is wide shouldered anyway and they have always protuded a bit.

        http://www.moviespad.com/photos/angelina-jolie-young-1f004.jpg

      • Jaxx says:

Wow, I’ve never seen that picture. How pretty she looked here. Still thin, but healthy. I really don’t understand how she can look at a mirror or at the plentiful photos of herself and think she looks good.

I’m beginning to believe she does in fact have an eating disorder. I don’t understand why her family doesn’t tell her she looks awful and make her eat.

      • anytime says:

@lak sorry but that tomb raider wasn’t aimed for fattening but for building muscles. it is a lean protein diet that is used when an actor needs to gain muscle for a role. so no, not fattening. and i seem to recall a time when angelina looked a tiny bit chubs. i think it was around 2001? i could be wrong. but it was before the tomb raider role. btw after gaining the weight she got the tat on right on her belly which says that which nourishes me also destroys me. and went around posing with x shaped stickers on her mouth, providing thinspiration for all anorexic girls around the world -eyeroll- srsly you can’t deny she is a classic model-turned-actress e.d. case.

      • LAK says:

@anytime – you are absolutely right wity regards her LARA CROFT diet. i used wrong choice of words and hyperbole to emphasise my point which remains the same. She had to add somewhere between 20-30lbs as well as intensive exercise to achieve the LARA CROFT look. Many actors change their bodies for roles, but they aren’t then castigated for not maintaining that particular look.

  7. dede says:

do you think Dr Drew would go on national television and tell Gabby Sidibe that she is severly overweight and needs to g on a diet

    • mln76 says:

Obesity amongst the youth in America is a much worse problem than anorexia so kids may want to be thin but they are more likely to be affected by obesity. But yes those same women on The View that blasted Howard Stern and the like for talking about Sidibe’s weight were falling all over themselves to agree with Dr Drew. The fact that he used some B.S. medical term then quoted US Weeklys views about her weight instead of Angie’s own words on it says everything about their hypocrisy. Dr Drew is not concerned about anything but ratings. Looking at his long years of famewhoring someone on the CA board should take away his license.

    • The Truth Fairy says:

      @dede

That’s a great point. Both are unhealthy. I would even say that obesity is more dangerous to overall health.

    • anonymous says:

TO DEDE SAYS: Gabby Sebidey is no big fish he has been trying to pull down Anglina Jolie for quite awhile now, sometine ago he tried to say she was on cocaine and this time he saw his chance again and made a major grab, comparing her to Amy Whinehouse,Whitney Houston and Ana Nicole Smith, I saw his show and was shocked! If Angelina was in such a bad state she would never get pregnant, that is what most of the people on here fail to realize. Pregnancy is a hard thing when you are too old, on drugs, malnutritioned, etc. Angelina was pregnant twice and don’t say oh well artificial insemination, for all the reason given above that would not work, Jennfer Aniston is all over saying she does not want children, but I believe she was trying to get pregnat but it just isn’t happening, so what do some of you say about that?

      • Freya says:

That’s right! People forget, or choose to ignore, that AJ was pregnant twice.

      • demian bichir says:

“Pregnancy is a hard thing when you are too old, on drugs, malnutritioned, etc…”
Have you heard the happy news about Uma Thurman and Arki?Exception to the rule?
I think that Alessandra Ambrosio is pregnant too but i still don’t know if she’s a druggie(pretty common in the model world NON?) but now she’s a really skinny pregnant lady.http://www.zimbio.com/photos/Alessandra+Ambrosio/Alessandra+Ambrosio+Picks+Up+Anja/TZ-WHkUPSU8
        So…

      • DeeVine says:

I don’t want to start WW3 here but i’m not entirely convinced she actually carried the twins. Her pregnant belly looked perfect like a prosthetic at the king fu panda premiere, and she always gave birth overseas which makes it easier to hide. There were grainy photos of her bare belly but the whole thing looked a bit odd. She also never had the breastfeeding swell of the boobs. I’ve had 3 kids and knew many skinny women who didn’t gain much during pregnancy, but they always swelled everywhere else in the last month or so, and had very full boobs after birth.

      • anytime says:

@deevine your theory sounds interesting, but angie’s belly was ginormous during her twins pregnancy. and don’t forget she had the pregnancy mouth as well. although her mouth is always swollen (collagen injections on the upper lip) i totally bought that she was pregnant. or was i wrong? i never had kids myself so idek! but i bought the artifical insemination reports too, not because i believed that she and brad were breaking up or something, but because it was twins at such a late age, low health etc. and if they didn’t want to keep trying for much longer, especially because of their biological clocks combined, they may have gone for the clinically most effective method.

      • DeeVine says:

I had my 3rd child not long after Angie announced her pregnancy. Then she wore that green dress and i remembered thinking that all looked so padded. When she was pregnant with Shiloh her boobs were pregnancy boobs. The shape was very different. And she also gained weight in her arms and face and had some puffiness. With the twins (esp with twins!) only her belly and boobs were huge. I’ve had friends pregnant and gained little weight, but then their bellies were also small like Nicole Kidman’s, so it was skinny overall. Nevertheless, some swelling always came through! i compared with milla jojovich’s pregnancy as they are of similar body type, and angie never even looked close to that. allesanda ambrosio is what skinny pregnant looks like, boobs and belly petite, so arms and legs stay skinny.

I’m surprised that no one questioned it at the time, but questioned kidman, katie holmes and kelly preston (kidman’s was very dubious, i agree) Even Beyonce bothered to sport some weight gain and puffy face post birth (and many still believe that was a pillow) Some sites have chronicled angie’s bump and it also grew and shrank like Beyonce’s, at point it even moved sideways, but no one really seemed to pay much attention.

So the argument that she can’t be malnourished or on drugs as she had twins, is weak to me.

      • Katherine says:

Please. No this nonsense again. Kindly take your lunatic conspiracy theories back to FF where they belong and originated.

Her belly did not change size except to grow as she progressed. Showing photos of Angelina in different outfits or those taken from different angles which can vary the look of one’s pregnancy does not support your crazy and mean-spirited hopes that she was not really pregnant.

Seriously how anyone with even half a brain can believe such utter nonsense is a celebrity phenomenon that just escapes me. Where did those 2 children who look exactly like both her and Brad come from? Fairyland?

      • Jill says:

Holy freaking moly, are they STILL bringing that crazy crap about Angie faked her pregnancy with the twins?

Okay DeeVine, if you think Angie faked her pregnancy with the twins, are you saying that her doctor, the hospital, and the city hall where the twins’ birth was registered were all complicit in fraud?

There must be something in the water over on FF that makes people go stark staring bonkers. They have got to be the most insane women on the planet.

    • mssnarnd says:

Well said mln76. He’s an idiot. He made some false, irresponsible statements about a disease last year (and he wasn’t actually talking about a celebrity for once . . . talk about a fame whore). I wrote into HLN to point out the errors (and I may have taken a jab or two 😉 ). Anyway – some intern-like person wrote back and just WENT OFF on me. Blah blah blah. What a nice person he is. I should be ashamed of myself. He’s trying to put his kids through college. I couldn’t believe it! I just laughed. Pathetic. Maybe he wrote the email!

And the other night he was trying to act all buddy-buddy about Tatum O’Neal’s current trip to rehab (for pain med regulation, I guess). As usual, he was Mr. Important as if he were personally involved, even though you could tell she probably hadn’t even talked to him about it.

And don’t even get me started on THE VIEW!!!

    • demian bichir says:

DEDE i don’t know about Dr Drew but i would definitely write a comment on the www about the weave she wore during the oscars segment.I love her but it’s a big fashion faut pas!LOL!
      http://www.theroot.com/buzz/violas-awesome-fro-gabbys-curly-no

WTF!Gabby your mother called and said stop playing with the old dirty floor-cloth!

But i would call out Deville too:
How many black cats Donatella Versace sacrificed in a VOODOO ritual to make that HIDEOUS Elvira 3.0 DRESS?Her cray cray hairstyle combined with the whorish red lipstick EWWW.
She was F***ing scary with that pasty bony leg too.Just NO!

  8. Josephina says:

I see Dr. Drew wants to be relevant to society.

And so instead of working with real data from real patients, he thinks it is “professional” of him to go live on TV and talk about a person he knows only through watching TV and film.

If he talked about Kelly Ripa he would not get any attention. Or Robert Downey Jr.. Charlie Sheen, Selma Blair, Lara Flnn Boyle.

Again, anyone that talks about Angelina will get attention, even when it’s trash.

    • Holly says:

He did bring up Kelly R. and her exercise bulimia/anorexia. He also talked about RDJr as an example of how to properly do rehab (i.e., get out of the biz and take as long as it takes).

Dr. Drew is his own worst enemy, but he is talking about more people than just Jolie.

    • barbie says:

I think u r totally right about this example I didn’t know who he was until Casey Anthony but becuz I was caught up in the story I watched him on HLN during the trial he kept wanting ” to understand this girl” with his profession I thought he’d help us understand her. Anyhoo off topic but I bet his ratings went sown after the trial hoopla ended & so yeah he has to put his scary 2 cents in about a woman who won’t give him the time of day-I think he’s narcissistic that way

  9. Kimbob says:

Iconic religious references aside, I know I’ll get crucified (LOL) for saying what I’m about to.

I agree Dr. Drew is an unapologetic hack, I do. He makes such broad, sweeping statements because it will get him attention, I do agree.

Regardless, what he’s saying does contain more than a kernel of truth. YES Angelina Jolie is beautiful, gorgeous…can’t be denied. YES Angelina is crazy talented…again, no denials here. I’ll acknowledge pretty much everything that she’s known for, famous for.

That being said…I must wholeheartedly agree. Angelina Jolie IS MALNOURISHED. I’m actually astonished such evidence isn’t showing in her hair and skin (because both look fabulous), but she is a star, and has the means and wherewithall to address such.

Again, Angelina shouldn’t show off her sickly body anymore. It’s sending a horrible message to impressionable teens and women who also want to be beautiful. Not to mention what it’s doing to Angelina herself. But, she is in the throes of some type of dysmorphic body issue, for sure. The signs of which cannot be denied.

    • LAK says:

Please look up the term MALNOURISHED because you’ve just contradicted yourself. If someone is MALNOURISHED, it shows in hair, skin, belly [distended belly is one of the signs].

Also, her chest bones or her back bones are not protruding.

Also, if you are under weight, you develop facial hair fuzz. Usually along the sides of the face. We would see that in close up, no make up can hide that.

Yes, she is skinny but MALNOURISHED??? Please. I think she was skinnier when her mother died.

Do you remember when Calista Flockhart, another skinny celebrity, turned up at the emmys with her protruding back bones?? Now in that case, i would say SHE was under weight.

      • Alix says:

I think Flockhart eventually ‘fessed up to an eating disorder. While Angie might need a burger or two, it doesn’t freak me out to look at her. Flockhart always scared the crap out of me; her skins-and-bones appearance was literally so distracting I was surprised anyone cast her (check out “The Birdcage”). Same with Laraine Newman back in the 70s/80s — hard to focus on the SNL skits when you’re wondering whether this woman’s going to drop dead in the middle of one.

Also: If Jolie tends to carry weight in her torso, her limbs could get very thin indeed without it meaning she’s “malnourished”. Is there an anecdotal evidence that she exercises at all? Part of her skinny appearance my be lack of muscle tone.

      • LAK says:

@Alix – do you know who scares me… Guiliana Rancic. There is a picture of her at Oscars from the back, and even though it’s covered by the lace of her dress, you can see the shoulder blades and back bones jutting through.

      • barbie says:

        Thank you!

      • Kimbob says:

@LAK…sorry you didn’t like me using the word “malnourished.” Ummm, did you read this article? I used this word, as this word was used to describe how she looks. I was continuing in my blog, using the word which was used to describe her. And guess what? I AGREE. She looks MALnourished (mal, meaning BAD or badly). Malnourished, undernourished….you want to split hairs here?

And BTW, I’m an RN…I know what these words mean. I have AN OPINION, & regardless that you decide to have a problem w/such…I really could care less. This is what this forum is for. Everyone has AN OPINION. Obviously, you do, as well. Am I jumping on you because you have an opinion? No, I’m not. Grow up.

      • LAK says:

@Kimbob-why is it childish to point out hyperbole in your statement? Especially when you make a conclusive statement and then disqualify that statement by saying there is no visible evidence for your conclusion?

AJ is skinny. There is no evidence she is malnourished, certainly one that you or I are party to. We are both going on physical evidence. And saying you are an RN makes it doubly scary that you would stand by that statement even as you disqualify it.

Perhaps my definition of ‘Malnourished’ differs from yours. Mine tells me that someone that qualifies, purely based on visuals, would show in their skin, hair, bones, belly. We really wouldn’t need to see AJ’s medical records. We could just see it.

And given we are not privy to AJ’s medical records, calling her ‘malnourished’is just wrong.

      • Kimbob says:

@LAK, I stand by my statement. It seems your definition of “malnourished” is of the standard of the Ethiopian or African children seen in the TV/internet ads for donations. Of course those are extreme examples of such. One can be malnourished w/out the obvious signs to which you’re referring. You’re referring to cases of EXTREME….where they are days from death.

There are levels of malnutrition. I also mentioned skin/hair because people can take supplements and topical applications and treatments to improve the look of. You mention “facial fuzz,” ever heard of the various hair removal systems/treatments?

No….let me state I don’t think Angelina is days away from death due to malnutrition, but she’s not eating right, and IT’S SHOWING. Her body fat ratios, I’d love to know, but without such, I can definitely say she’s not eating right, not eating ENOUGH. I’m not the only one w/that opinion. It’s showing…she’s got a problem. Yes, she is naturally thin, but whatever she’s doing (or not doing) is exacerbating the problem.

You’ve taken my blogs and extrapolated using extreme examples. And childish because of your snarky, condescending tone. We all have opinions, and just because you don’t agree does not make you correct or right.

      • anytime says:

@Alix i had a cosmo issue from last year where angie herself said that she exercizes because if she doesn’t (her) “body looks like that of a boy” so she probably does those work outs that are aimed at making skinny women’s curvy areas pop. there was also their fired nanny who claimed that she takes off 1 or 2 hours a day to exercize but i take that with a grain of salt. however many reports about how she exercizes, loses more weight for this event, shows off in her dress thinking she looks great as an anorexic… reminds me of the classic ana case girls that i used to know and was once a part of.

    • meme says:

If Angelina is crazy talented? No, she’s just crazy. Her acting is pathetic unless she’s playing a crazy person or a violent one.

      • original sandy says:

and yet…she can pack a theater out, earning millions in the process, mind you, all this w/out taking her clothes off, or stupid gimmicks, people know all about who she is and what she’s done, and still pay to see her, wow!!! go figure. but i have to admit some of these negative comments are actually entertaining and funny, not true and delusional, but..still entertaining. carry on.

      • Jill says:

@Sandy: Whereas Aniston’s sorry-ass fans won’t even support her movies. Wanderlust has only made $12 million after 10 days and is sinking like a stone.

    • Freya says:

You know, I find all the fuss about AJ’s weight a bit too much.
I think some people really care, and others just want to bash her.

She is an adult, and has six children. It’s HER responsibility to look after herself. She has a partner, and a chef to make her things she likes to eat and she also has mirrors in the house, and if she wants she has nutritionists and doctors to consult.

      Enough already!

    • janie says:

I’m naturally very skinny, and am at a normal weight right now (5’4 115 lbs) but I have to struggle daily to keep the weight on. People used to always tell me I looked too thin and that I needed to “eat a burger” which was frustrating because I was happy with how I looked and ate whenever I was hungry. It’s not fun to force yourself to overeat just so people stop asking you if you’re anorexic. I’m sure Angie has heard a thousand times that she looks too thin. Maybe she just doesn’t give a f–k? I admire that.

      • anytime says:

hate to break it to you hon, but 5’4 at 115 lbs is not very skinny or “go eat a burger” level at all. it’s normal range you can check at http://halls.md/body-mass-index/bmi.htm, and anyhow when i was 13-18 lbs lower at weight than you are right now, the only people who were worried were my family. and that only because they witnessed me lose even more weight in little time. people i met outside of family, friends, acquaintances never told me i looked anorexic, or malnourished like angie, they all admired my looks. there’s easily a 55-66 lbs distance between angie’s weight and her reportedly 5’8 tall frame.

      • Sisi says:

        this exactly.

My weight has also always been on the low side. I cannot help it, genes from my fathers side of the family (lots of skinny 6ft3in farmer boys). In my teens when I went to visit friends and they asked me what I wanted to drink and I asked for a glass of water I’d already get weird looks for instance. Forget the fact that I just rode 10 miles on my bike in the summer heat and I just want a glass of water… Nope, I’m labelled the girl with the eating disorder *eyeroll*

Last year my wisdom teeth were removed and after that I got a serious bout of the flu and after that a stomach flu. Those three weeks of drama cost me 10 pounds, and it has taken me more than a year to get it back. During that entire time I felt like shit and looked like shit. Ate healthy and quite a lot too btw, but gaining weight is very difficult and takes time. That’s just the way my body works.

anyway… enough about my petty issues

When it comes to Angelina I don’t want to project my own experiences on her, but to call her malnourished based on some pictures goes too far. She would look nicer with some extra pounds sure, but we know nothing about her eating habits.

      • Jill says:

Thank you Sisi for a very sensible post.

Does anyone know Angie’s exact height and her current weight? No? I didn’t think so.

Until anyone can post that information and document it from a reputable source, all speculation about whether or not she is malnourished is useless.

    • Sha says:

I don’t know if she has a body image problem but she had a kind of chubby face when she was at her natural weight with very visible naso-labial folds and those never age well, I think she has to starve herself to have a taut face

  10. The Original Mia says:

Dr. Drama Queen, indeed. He gives MDs a bad name with his diagnosis by tabloid schtick.

    • MS says:

Really? Well then where are all these MD’s that are embarrassed by his accusations? And why isn’t Jolie suing him for slander? And don’t tell me she doesn’t read or hear this stuff or, she is not the type to sue. She hasn’t certainly done it before!

Kind of hard to sue someone when they speak the truth!

      • The Original Mia says:

He’s a medical professional talking about a woman who isn’t his patient. He has never spoken to her, taken her history or reviewed her medical files. He’s making a diagnosis based on what he sees in a tabloid. I am a medical professional. I know not to make diagnoses about people who I’ve never seen in a clinical setting. I don’t want to set myself up for a malpractice suit. If you think real medical professionals are holding up Dr. Drew as some standard bearer, then you are crazy.

And if you think I’m only saying this because of Angelina, you’d be wrong. He had no right to say anything about Lindsay, Britney, or any other star. He’s a famewhore.

      • MS says:

Oh, for the love of gawd! Give it a rest.. He DID NOT diagnose her. He simply made an observation and stated his opinion.

  11. Jackie says:

she is really underweight. i find it sad to see this when she is so beautiful. so many women struggle with body issues, i hope she can get a hold of this.

i am kinda glad people are calling her on it, instead of celebrating women who starve themselves.

  12. samira677 says:

Dr. Drew is a quack. I thought it was obvious when he said that Lindsay Lohan’s father should plant drugs in her car. Besides a real docter doesn’t diagnose somebody they don’t know.

    • Jackson says:

Totally agree. I can’t believe anyone gives him a platform to speak or that anyone listens to him when he does.

    • Jill says:

He said what?! What kind of irresponsible, unprofessional statement is that? He should have had his license yanked behind that! Does anyone have proof this guy is really a doctor?

  13. Lisa says:

lol what a silly and cheap pr stund. We all know that she doesn’t eat McDonald’s crap. Her bony hand looks hilarious. I love when anorectic celebs are posting photos with food right after the news about how horrible skinny they look are spreading around.

  14. Susannah says:

I thinnk he is right and I cautiously applaud him for calling a spade a spade. Compared to her days as “Laura Croft” the difference is startling. She used to be sexy, fit and full of energy. I can’t say that now. Her face is beautiful still, eventhough a little gaunt.

    • pwal says:

Of course… people always cite Angelina’s Lara Croft physique. Naturally, they never mentioned the nearly half year it took for her to gain the weight, weight-train, and exercise, not to mention the tanning and the protein-heavy, restrictive diet. The Lara Croft is not her natural body state and it’s ridiculous that people are begging her to engage in an intense regiment that serves nothing.

Funny how Dr. Drew and all of these ‘concerned’ people will cite her previous interviews about her drug and mental issues and not acknowledge this so-called Angelina/Lara Croft golden age when she concedes that she liked the process of getting ready for the Tomb Raider movies, but not so much the regimented process to get there.

Angelina has never sought out Dr. Drew’s help and it’s highly doubtful that what Dr. Drew is doing is actually offering help. He, like many who profit from celebrities i.e. tabloid journalists, doesn’t want actual access because it’s rarely profitable. What goes to Dr. Drew’s heart is his power over those who are envious, petty, and sadly, weak.

      • The Original Mia says:

People don’t care to know the truth.

      • LAK says:

Someone posted link to LARA CROFT picture upthread as proof of her ‘natural’ body!!!!

i wish Kaiser or whoever would do an Angie through the years body pics before and after LARA CROFT so people would it.

    • cameron says:

      @lak
Yes it’s so funny since no one can provide photos of Angie pre or post Lara Croft not being a skinny, lanky woman.
I wouldn’t get so upset about these posters. They’ve been saying the same thing about Angie being skinny since she hooked up with Brad. It’s now going on 8 years So it’s nothing new.

  15. ornamental says:

…and HE has the stigmata of fame-whorridness.

    • Alix says:

Indeed he does. Yet on the rare occasions I see him on TV, I find him rather personable, regardless.

      /hangs head in shame/

  16. blah says:

Thank you Dr. Drew for pointing out that Angelina is malnourished. And in other news, beer kills brain cells and the sky is blue.

What other pearls of wisdom does he have in store? That Black Panthers aren’t really panthers?

  17. spinner says:

Anyone with eyes in their head can see that there is a problem here. Those pics of her claw-like hands in the car are startling. There is a problem & she needs to address it. Look at the example she is setting for her children.

  18. mew says:

He’s pointing out the obvious and that way trying to steal at least some fame points on the way….

  19. mln76 says:

If anyone cares what actual medical experts think on the subject here is one well thought out article.

    http://www.edmontonjournal.com/entertainment/tell+Angelina+Jolie+burger/6234451/story.html

    • Wendi says:

Shame that the people they spoke to for that article weren’t actually medical experts. One was an editor, one was a women’s advocate and the other was a student.

  20. jinni says:

Why is he still relevant? Why is he being given a platform to spread his bs diagnoses of people he’s never even met? Sure we do the same thing on boards like this one, but the difference is that none of us are acting like we’re experts in medicine/psychiatry. Unfortunately, because he has Dr. in front of his name people will take what he says as gospel.

Besides, if she really does have a problem does he really think talking about it on t.v. is going to help her out? He needs to stop using his PhD as a means to make ungrounded claims about people he doesn’t treat. This has to go against the Hippocratic Oath doctors take.

    • MS says:

Like you, he is entitled to his opinion, and can state said opinion anywhere he desires.

      • jinni says:

True, but because he’s a doctor people will take his opinion way more seriously than mine. As someone in the medical field one would think that he’d be more cautious and understand that by doing what he’s doing(turning these peoples alleged problems into entertainment to get attention for himself) that he maybe doing more harm to them.

      • Deb says:

Actually, because of the forum he has and the fact that he couches himself as an expert, his “opinion” has far more implications that us posting on a blog. He has never examined her, or been asked for his opinion by her and is not qualified to do so. To a make medical pronouncement in the media about someone he does not know is wrong. We have lost civility – look at Rush – to see this happening and then are quick to say, hey it is just my opinion or its only a gossip remark. I question what we teaching our children when we do this.

      • mln76 says:

He is licensed as a Doctor and when you hold a license you are expected to follow the tenets of your profession this is why states have licensing review boards. A doctor cannot diagnose based on looking at someone on a television screen-no doctor that took the values of his profession seriously would feign to do so. Yet the only reason why anyone is giving any added weight to his opinion a week after the fact is because of the two letters after his name.
I do believe he should have his license taken away because his behavior over the years has been so unbecoming of what an actual doctor does.

      • jinni says:

        @Deb and mln76:

Thank you for so eloquently explaining the point I was trying to make.

      • Jill says:

Not if he’s giving a professional diagnosis of someone he’s never even met, let alone treated. He could get his license yanked for unprofessional behavior.

      • Freya says:

Then speak generally about (very) thin people, and if he wants to give examples, mention a few names. There is Calista Flockhart, and there are very thin models, but no…he picked the very famous AJ to focus on because he knows he’ll get a lot more attention.

    • Disbelieving says:

He didn’t diagnose her. A diagnosis would be if he stated that she was suffering from anorexia nervosa or some other condition. He said that he saw the signs of malnutrition, That is an observational statement that he has every right to state.

He is, also, correct. She is showing signs of malnutrition in the severe muscle wasting that he noted on his show. That is the proof for his observation. Not a diagnosis.

And there is no such thing as “naturally thin” unless you are prepared to accept ‘naturally fat”. Its calories in, calories out. “Naturally thin” people regulate their calories, perhaps without much thought but its regulation nonetheless.

There is nothing preventing AJ from achieving a healthy BMI except her own choices, which seem highly suspect when on views the results–a visibly emaciated body.

      • janie says:

I do accept that some people are more prone to being thin than others, and some are more prone to being a bit overweight. Anorexia and obesity are obviously not natural, but it’s not like all humans have the exact same metabolism either.

      • Katherine says:

Malnutrition is a diagnosis. There certainly are people tend to be naturally thin no matter how many calories they take in. I was like that until I hit a certain age and my metabolism slowed.

There are thin people who are not malnourished and there are overweight peole who are malnourished. It can depend on where the calories are coming from.

No one knows if she is malnourished or not except she and her doctor. Period. She sure seems to produce healthy babies.

  21. anyhoo says:

My theory is…and this is just a theory.

    Brad likes his girls thin.

Look at Gwyneth..she started that microbiotic diet when she was dating him.

Jen started exercising like crazy when she was dating him and lost a lot of weight. (compare her to the first few seasons of Friends.)

Now Angelina. She was fit and strong in Tomb Raider and in Mr and mrs Smith.

Eh, I could be wrong. Like I said, it’s just a theory.

    • Shelly says:

You’re not the first person to suggest that. I agree with you. Jennifer lost gobs of weight after she started seeing him and was a stick while with him. Same with Gwyneth (although Gwyn was just young and was already that skinny when she met him, but she is certainly not bony now). I think Brad prefers the waify look.

    • pwal says:

Kind of a flawed theory. He dated Juliette Lewis and Thandie Newton and they are much thinner now. Unless you’re going to advance a theory that Brad may have said something to them, back then, that resulted in them being thinner nearly 20 years later.

    • demian bichir says:

Good theory! He’s like a vampire he likes them SKINNY and young!

  22. MS says:

Where does Dr. Drew state the word, “Hate”? He has never said he hates Jolie! I totally agree with what Dr, Drew said about Jolie. Girls/Women should never desire to be this thin… It is NOT attractive at all, and certainly can not be healthy.

I have to laugh at all the photo ops this family has engaged in, since the Oscars. She knew she was a joke at the Oscars and shortly after, we began seeing more of her, Brad and the twins. Please! There is nothing coincidental about it.

Driving thru McDonalds and waving to the paps. Gawd! It is as though she was saying, “Look, I eat”! Deflect, deflect, deflect! Also, giving your children Coca Cola to help them wake up in the mornings (Brad stated in an interview)is all sorts of wrong.

    • pwal says:

He has been very snide towards her for years and given that none of his predictions have come to be, he hops back on the same overridden horse, which haters don’t notice and acknowledge because they pray that he will be right.

    • Shelly says:

Well, if he doesn’t hate her, he’s certainly implied it. He’s most certainly not a “friend”, unless a friend says publicly that they think you are still a heroin addict, even though she was years beyond that and had 6 kids at the time he said it. He is a jerk.

      • Wendi says:

Friends, real ones, urge you to get help when you need it.

      • mln76 says:

@Wendy he is not her friend. He sought to publicly humiliate her for publicity.
I know there are people out there that are
enjoying this whole controversy but it just shows the petty desperation of some to rag on her.
If you actually believe she’s malnourished, how exactly is publicly mocking her going to help her???

      • Wendi says:

Mln, I’m not saying he’s her friend. But I do think that real friends, whether you’re AJ or Joe Blow and you have a problem that’s gotten out of hand, will call you out on it. Enabling people’s problems by ignoring them, how is that being a friend? There was nothing “mocking” in his words either, he stated repeatedly that he thought she was a beautiful woman, he made no reference in the quotes above to the leg jutting, he didn’t flippantly suggest “she eat a burger”.

As for doing so publicly… Her father did the same thing years back. Right or wrong, and I don’t know any of them, so I’ve got no comment on which it was, it’s also true that some people won’t get help, will refuse to get help or even admit they have a problem until they can no longer avoid it. And this guy is truly not saying anything that 3,399 people a minute didn’t notice and tweet about during the Oscar show.

Give her a few more years and this woman is going to be having some major bone density problems if she’s neglecting her nutrition to the point that she’s where she’s at. Even more so if she smokes, which it appears she does. Is that really what you want for a celebrity that you admire?

      • mln76 says:

@Wendi all I am saying is that a LICENSED DOCTOR should not publicly diagnose someone he has never treated or met. I have said it when Dr Drew did so to other celebrities. He has no idea what the state of her health is. As someone who works in the medical field (I’m not claiming to be a dr) I can tell you that appearances can be deceiving. People who look skinny and frail can be as strong as hell. People who look healthy weight can be in terrible shape. People who appear obese can be in wonderful health and physical shape.
No professional can tell you what the state of someones’ health is by looking solely at a TV screen or snapshots. Only a hack would claim to do so.

    • MS says:

His snide remarks? Why do all of you seem to think that because someone, somewhere makes a negative remark about Jolie, that it means they hate her?

I will believe what Dr. Drew has to say, before I will even give a second thought as to what Jolie is trying to sell me! He is a hell of a lot more qualified to do so.

Like I said earlier, he is entitled to his opinion, just like we are, and can give his opinion wherever he likes. Are you jealous he has numerous degrees and you don’t? Or, is it because he hurt your feelings by saying something negative about Jolie?

Something is going on with her and I think all her fans should be concerned!

      • Disbelieving says:

        MS
I couldn’t agree with you more. But for some reason rational thought goes out the window on this site when it come to Angelina Jolie threads.

I am no fan of Dr. Drew but he is clearly not mocking her, not diagnosing her–he made an observational statement about her visible muscle wasting–and he has expressed concern that her celebrity means that she won’t hear the things she needs to hear for her health–as this site proves. And his statements about her heroin addiction stem from his understanding of addiction; once an addict always an addict-it doesn’t just go away with the passage of time and he is concerned that she has in the past admitted to addicted behavior without mention of any treatment. There sound like statements of concern and medical opinion to me not “mocking” and “diagnosis” but then I have no blind love for the woman. I don’t even know her.

      • pwal says:

Excuse me, but making negative and passive-aggressive comments about someone’s health and appearance can and does impede any ‘help’ hidden in the comments. I’m the opposite extreme of Angelina – not morbidly obese, but heavy, and throughout my life, people thought they were ‘helping’ when they said sharp and nasty things to me. And guess what – my defenses went up. When I was on my own, away from negative comments, and responsible for myself, that was when I took my health into my own hands – I stopped skipping meals and I exercised. And no, my doing this wasn’t on the basis of getting positive feedback – it was because I felt better.

IMO, Dr. Drew has eliminated himself from any helping/assistance role he could have had when he made unfounded accusations against Angelina. It’s just like when Joan Rivers ‘attempted’ to offer encouragement to Lindsay Lohan, after years of being snide towards her. I feel the same way about of the snide posters here and all around the internet who derived glee from being negative towards any and all of Angelina’s life decisions. You all have deemed yourself as noise, now and forever.

If Angelina has a problem, she needs to see it for herself. Those with positive, altruistic motivation could help her, but this will be all on her, again, if she has a problem.

      • Freya says:

        @ pwal

“If Angelina has a problem, she needs to see it for herself.”

        I totally agree!
She is 36, has a loving partner and six children. She is responsible for herself. She also has her partner, her father and brother, and her partner’s family.
She does NOT need outsiders like Drew and people like him to tell her anything. He just wants to be in the same story with her!

  23. Jessica says:

While I think Dr. Drew is irrelevant, I also think Jolie’s frail appearance is part of her current image of selfless mother and crusader. When she was younger, she was all about making people’s jaws drop with her *odd* behavior. Now she’s got Brad and the troops of kids and her UN work. She has remade her image as many celebrities do over the years. She hasn’t starred in memorable movie in years and so far writing and directing hasn’t caught on. At least she is not as pathetic as Madonna, but then again, she is still very young. All this said, it seemed at the Oscars that she was indulging in a little comedy with the leg thing. Maybe poking fun a little bit at her younger vampy days. Or maybe she was light-headed from only having a a 1/4 c of porridge to eat all day. Whatever.

    • pwal says:

So… it has nothing to do with her always having long, thin legs and long, thinner arms when she was younger? Or the fact that pregnancies impact a woman’s subsequent metabolism (shoot her for not ‘chunking up’ like some women)? Or nothing to do with her parents’ physiques (both seem to have long, thin limbs, yet carry their weight in their torsos)?

      • TruthTella says:

Come on now get real… Yes Angelina has always been slim except those few years when she did the Tomb Raider films etc when she put weight on and looked amazing but let’s not pretend she doesn’t have a problem, whether it’s an eating dissorder or just that she doesn’t eat enough or often enough she is not slim atm she is THIN, almost painfully so.

      • Jill says:

@TruthTella: That begs the question of how much is enough. Enough for whom? Everybody’s appetite is different. When I was Angie’s age I had a tiny appetite. Three bites and done. It may not have been enough for most people, but it was enough for me. And no, I did not have an eating disorder. People’s bodies and appetites change as they get older. I’m willing to bet in ten years Angie will be a good 25 lbs heavier than she is now.

      • Wendi says:

Jill, given how she looks, I’m willing to bet that she may not be around in ten years. And if she is, she’ll be dealing with crumbling vertabrae and fragile bones because her body looks like it’s eating itself away to survive.

Anyways, you guys will just continue to call her “naturally skinny” while she starves herself to death. Because if she does have body image issues, they are likely rooted in self-esteem and control issues and for a 36 year old woman whose claim to fame has always been beauty, it’s not going to get any easier as she gets older, psychologically speaking.

      • Jill says:

@Wendy (or Wendi, whichever you’re calling yourself now): And if she wasn’t around in ten years time that would just break your sanctimonious little heart, wouldn’t it?

Your hypocrisy reeks to high heaven.

      • miri says:

        @Jill
        THIS.

      • Wendi says:

While all of you enablers who glossed over the fact that there is something seriously wrong will be wailing with grief as if you had no idea something was wrong.

No doubt, you’ll find a way to blame it on Aniston though, so it’s all good.

    • Freya says:

Wendi, nobody knows who will be around in ten years!
      That is a fact!

      • cameron says:

        @Wendy
You have never met her in person nor has this quack dr. Not one interviewer, regular person, not even Lainey (who can be snarky towards her) who’ve met her in person ever categorize Angie as scary skinny, anorexic. Just a month ago, while she was covering the Palm Spring Festival lainey said she’s thin but looks strong, and was gorgeous in the blush colored dress. But if I remember correctly you were on her thread again commenting about how skinny she looked.
The photo above from the Oscar’s is not a picture of woman about to die due to Malnutrition. I wish you could please provide that photo of Angie smoking a cigarette. Since you claim she smokes. Please don’t provide a quote from a tabloid.

      • Wendi says:

Cameron, anyone with functioning eyes can see that the woman is way underweight. As for the smoking, EOnline apparently caught both she and Pitt having a cig on TV. Twitter explosion of “Did I just see Jolie smoking?” or similar followed. Even Lainey commented on seeing it on TV. It probably wasn’t just a big conspiracy hatched up by a whole bunch of random tweeters to make her look bad.

And if she smokes, so what? Quitting is hard, many people quit over and over until it finally sticks, and even then the urge never really goes away 100%.

  24. lisa says:

I have never seen or read an interview where Angelina has ever spoken of wanting girls to be her. Or holding up her body type as the model for anyone.

but I won’t even address Dr. Drew.

    • Ari says:

I totally agree. This woman is doing things for the entire world, she is not trying to set body examples. If she is thin, so what. I also agree with the other poster who said this might be a genetic thing from her parents. There are TONS of people who get thinner as they get older. Its not like you can see her chest bones and obvious signs of anorexia and things like that. They are even saying these days people can have anorexia and not even have it show visible side-effects! As long as she continues to be a good person, and do things for others, her body is not of my concern.

      • Freya says:

It’s all relative, isn’t it! Compared to one person, you’re thin, compared to another, you’re not so thin. I know I’d rather be thin than overweight!
I saw a program on TV about obesity, and they filmed people on the streets, but starting below the neck. OMG!

AJ will eat or not eat, and if she or Brad or other relatives worry about it, they’ll tell her and she has access to the best doctors and nutritionists.

    • Wendi says:

Actions speak louder than words. What you grow up seeing is what you tend to think is normal. Isn’t that kind of obvious?

      • Disbelieving says:

        Jill,

I am the daughter of an eating disordered woman. I am dead-center normal in my BMI by my careful choice; witnessing first-hand my mothers “natural thiness” and the cost is has taken on her. I was, always, fed normal healthy food and of normal body weight my whole life through.

I can’t begin to tell you the pain of watching my mother(narcissstically) hurt herself my whole life through nor deal with her now as she ages (her foot broke a few weeks ago, three bones crumbled as she stood). Anorexic moms hurt their daughters. Believe me.

      • Jill says:

@Disbelieving: I can well imagine the pain your mother’s eating disorder has caused you and your family. But your mother is not Angelina Jolie, nor is she most underweight women. When I was in high school I was 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighed 104 lbs. Was I thin? Absolutely. Was I malnourished? No, which my doctor verified, despite my mom constantly nagging at me to eat more. It was a combo of a small appetite, a very active metabolism and an active life. I just burned off the calories as fast as I took them in.

You have to be very careful about calling every thin woman eating-disordered or malnourished or anorexic. Most thin women are none of those three.

      • Wendi says:

I know they do. Sons as well, it skews everything.

I’m glad to hear that those demons didn’t chase you too. That said, it sucks that you will likely end up having to take responsibilty for a mother who didn’t look after her health and ends up bedridden because her bones won’t support her anymore.

      • Freya says:

You’re saying daughters automatically follow mom? That can’t be true.

My mother has always been a bit on the chubby side, not obese. My two sisters and I are slim.

      • Jill says:

@Wendi: I don’t know if that comment was directed at me or at Disbelieving but it’s one of the most hateful I have ever read on this blog. Considering the writer, however, it’s about par for the course.

My mom (may she rest in peace) was always of normal weight for her height and remained so until her death.

      • Wendi says:

Jill, my comment was quite obviously directed to Disbelieving and here is nothing hateful at all in it.

      • Jill says:

@Wendi: given the level of your lack of sensitivity it stands to reason you would find nothing hateful about that comment. Since you know nothing whatever about her mother you are hardly qualified to make any dire predictions about how she will end up.

      • Wendi says:

Jill, do you not see what she just said about bones in her mother’s foot crumbling? Do you think that her other bones aren’t in the same state? Broken hips, crumbled vertabrae until she’ll probably end up in a wheelchair or bedridden because her bones probably look like lace. And it’ll be up to her children to look after her when that happens (and it will) because she refused to look after herself when it mattered.

Disbelieving obviously knows that and I sincerely hope for her that she lives somewhere that has universal health care or that her mother has good health insurance. Otherwise, she and any siblings she has will end up having to pay for everything, the steel rod in the spine to hold it together, the hip replacements, the aftercare for all of that etc. If she lives somewhere like the US, well then yes, it would suck to find yourself having to sell your own home to pay for your mother’s medical care, all because she refused to eat and refused to get help early enough to prevent what could have easily been avoided.

So please, feel free to call Disbelieving’s reality of what’s in store “hateful”.

Personally I feel sorry for her since she’s the one who’s going to have to deal with that, something you obviously don’t seem to have grasped.

      • Disbelieving says:

        @wendi

Thank you and you are correct in all your assumptions. I did not feel at all offended at your comment. I feel that you truly understand the point I was trying to make. My mother lives in as assisted living community–in her own apartment. Its half way across the country and I have to make difficult decisions about when to fly to her. I,also, have mixed feelings about the desire to bother. Her disease made her moody and narcissitic for my whole life and I have a lot of trouble wanting to put myself back in that relationship. But she is my mother and I love her. But thank you for understanding the nature of the dilemma.

@Jill, if you had maintained that body weight for your height your whole life then your BMI would be underweight. The first diagnostic indicator of Aneroxia Nervosa is a refusal to maintain adequate body weight. Our body weight is, entirely, in our own control. If you are bellow a healthy BMI then you simply increase your calorie consumption. This is easy to do despite the many eating disordered people who claim to the contrary. The other diagnostic criteria are denial and secrecy. They, usually, ask family members to meet with doctors (I did at age 16) to give objective testimony as the person’s eating habits. All these stories of individual people and their “natural thiness” are just stories about why they didn’t choose to eat. Yours included. Read it again, that is what you say.

In fact, I suspect a good number of people posting here are defending AJ because they follow her as “thinsporation”. I post in the hope that someone else reading this is a daughter or son, like me, and needs to hear that “no, you are not going crazy. The world may praise her natural thiness but what you see is real. She is unhealthly thin by her choice and that is not “normal”.

    • Jill says:

No, Wendi, it’s not obvious. Too many girls may aspire to be stick-thin but none of them think it’s normal, although they may think it’s desirable. Angie is too thin but she’s not encouraging any young women to use her body type as a role model. If you can’t make your own decisions about how you want to look and what works for you, that’s your problem.

      • Wendi says:

Ah, so her girls will be making their choices based on what then? A good role model? Kids don’t believe the “Do as I say, not as I do.” thing.

      • Jill says:

@Wendi/Wendy: Her girls look fine and well-nourished to me. As far as other young women are concerned, she has not said anything. She has never encouraged anyone to look like her, dress like her, etc. She does her own thing and doesn’t give a damn what anyone (except probably Brad) thinks. And it doesn’t look like Brad is complaining.

      • Wendi says:

Ok Jill, it’s all “Nature, not nurture”. One has to wonder why they even bother to do background checks and so on for adoptees, since that’s the case…

      • Freya says:

        @Jill

“If you can’t make your own decisions about how you want to look and what works for you, that’s your problem.”

        I totally agree!

  25. blah says:

Yes, I’ve poked fun at Skeletina’s physique more than my share of times but chances are she’s not going to give some random troll on a message board a second thought. It’s stupid and dangerous for high profile people to come down on her in such a way. If she does in fact need help, this is the wrong way to go about it.

Most actresses in Hollywood are pressured to maintain her physique. Courtney Thorne Smith had to quit Ally McBeal bc she couldn’t keep up with the demands from producers to stay thin, and Jane Krakowski said she felt like a fat pig on set. Dr. Drew shouldn’t be singling A out but coming down on Hollywood in general for purporting extreme thinness as an ideal.

    • Freya says:

Exactly! Tackle the problem of too slim to too thin generally but, I bet, he knew he wouldn’t get as much attention as when he picked the famous AJ to focus on.

  26. Shelly says:

Dr. Drew needs to shut his trap. He is so annoying. Yes, Angie is skinny. We get it. However, I don’t think she looks as bad as being “malnourished”. Even if she did, he still needs to shut it. It’s none of his business.

  27. k says:

I feel weird about criticizing women with naturally skinny limbs. When she does carry a little bit of weight, it goes to her tummy and boobs. I have a bit of a peasant stock build. Even when I lose a ton of weight through diet and exercise, my limbs look big. AND, my weight is carried differently than how it was several years ago.

I think people should keep variables like age, location of weight carriage, undiagnosed thyroid issues, stress, etc. in mind before they go nuts in critiquing someone’s physique. I understand the desire to not glamorize cases of eating disorders, but how much do we really know about her eating habits, and how they affect her body over time? Maybe she could stand to eat another sandwich, but I won’t make that assumption until I read a quote from her in which she describes how little she eats.

    • Guest says:

It is amazing how there are forum about bullying and celebs come out and put on PSAs about bullying and yet there are CELEBs out there who PUBLICLY bully Angelina daily (or every chance they get). I loved when AJ was Lara Croft size and I also liked seeing other stars bulk up (Will Smith, JButler, …fill in the rest) and slim down (Tom Hanks, 50 cent, Walberg…fill in the rest) to play a roles. It is very unrealistic to expect them to look like that all the time going forward….
Also, AJ does everything she is called to do and never look unstable, weak, drunk, or is incoherent and she performs to the highest standard.
Her body look toned and tight, no unsightly bones or skin hanging or hair looking unheathy or eyes looking sunken -NOTHING…she is just back to her pre- Lara Croft weight.
This unending bullying by PUBLIC figures of AJ is very wrong and disturbing.
Ever so often you see stars that are seemingly heathly going off to ‘treatment’ for some sort of drug or health problem or have to stop production (or explain some of their appearances) on exhaustion yet no one is coming out and saying that they have nutritional or drug problem….
So how come they ‘KNOW’ so much about someone that has NOT SHOWN ANY SIGNS (other then being eviably slim) of nerves, stress, weakness, exhuastion, dry skin, sunken eyes, etc !!!!!???????????

      • Jill says:

The same way they “know” she’s a drug addict and they “know” she’s psychotic and they “know” she’s anorexic etc. etc. Star Magazine told them so.

Besides, she “stole” Brad from Jennifer so that makes her all of the above.

    • LAK says:

your statement about body types and proportions is so true.

Look at Kelly Osborne. She lost tonnes of weight, past what was natural for body type. She had tiny body but her arms and legs remained huge which was not a good look for her. Now she’s put on weight, she looks so much better.

people keep talking about this woman’s weight during a period when she was on a special diet and training regime designed to make her bigger like that was normal when it was not.

Even with the hollywood trend for skinny bodies, googling pictures of her for any other period in her life show someone with a skinny, long limbed frame.

      • Remote Control says:

Kelly’s legs and arms weren’t huge! Exaggerate much? No wonder girls hate themselves when assholes like you exist.

      • LAK says:

@remote control – really Kelly, if you are going to google yourself, learn to differentiate between those comments that are complimenting you vs the insulting ones.

And while you are here, no need for such language.

  28. Ha says:

The only reason people are so hard on Angelina is because of BRAD PItt! Where is he in this discussion?

After seven years she’s still called a home wrecker and he’s a what? LoL

  29. Jen34 says:

ITA. And he may even be correct about malnutrition, but no respectable doctor would deign to diagnose anyone without an examination. He is a total hack.

  30. TruthTella says:

He is a complete moron fame whore but anyone with eyes can see Angelina is quite under weight. If she was my girlfriend i’d be encouraging her to put a couple of pounds on.

    • demian bichir says:

Truthtella have you been to the DL recently? He’ a moron and has a little d-ck

  31. Pizzazz says:

Yeah, she’s skinny and it’s possible she could be suffering from malnutrition. Who knows? If it’s true, then it’s sad and I feel bad for her and hope she is able to overcome her issues.

What I find most disturbing about this article is that she and Brad are taking their children to McDonalds. It was one thing when the public wasn’t aware of all of the weird shit they are putting in their food but now?? No excuse for feeding them that crap.

  32. Astrid says:

@ LAK I’ll be honest and say I didn’t know that so thank you for that.

But in all honesty, yes she was always skinny but this… this freaks me out to see.

    • LAK says:

I do agree with you that recently she is looking skinnier than normal, but without knowing what is going on with her, and based on her ‘normal’ size in the past, i am not going to judge her.

ps:- when her mother died, she was skinnier than she is now so maybe something is going on. However, She is also getting older and generally we our bodies change, why not hers. Perhaps this is the way her body is changing.

Finally, as skinny as she is i don’t see chest bones, the back bones [google Calista Flockhart at the emmys] or even bad skin and hair [google Posh at her skinniest]or gauntness in her face [remember Demi?].

  33. Maria says:

if I hadn’t seen her look WAY better… (Lara Croft?)… might have that movie title incorrectly spelled…. but she was lightly muscled…and looked incredible…. THAT look was genetics mostly..a little body fat to look tight, strong and lean..not gaunt…so my point is, if I hadn’t of seen her like that I could possibly see, genetically for now, she could just be a skinny girl..but, it’s not natural..ti is self imposed..either by eating…over exercising..or having too much stress. I also noticed at the Oscars her hair didn’t look super lustrous or healthy either…but I don’t think she is as bad off as Dr. Drew says. He is a drama queen, that’s for sure. However, Angie should still put on at least 15 pounds to look healthier. IMO

    • mln76 says:

How many times do we have to say it…she was asked to gain 20 to 30 lbs for Lara Croft and was padded. She had to work with a trainer and be force fed for several months. So while she looked simply amazing in that movie it wasn’t her natural frame.

      • Disbelieving says:

Force fed? So did they put a tube down her throat or what?

      • Becky says:

Ok fine. Gia then. She was not too skinny as Gia and she got naked.

      • cameron says:

She was skinny in Gia she just had a fuller face. She was also 21 years old when she made that movie.
Didn’t have kids, wasn’t involved with the UNCR and just starting a movie career.

      • Becky says:

If by skinny you mean about 20 pounds heavier, sure. She was thin noe she’s a skeleton. There.

  34. The Original Mia says:

@meme, I’m a loon? Look in the mirror. I’m not the one bashing a family for going to McDonald’s. You are. You’re also bashing a child for not dressing the way you think she should be dressing. If anyone is off their rocker, honey, it’s you.

    • Jill says:

She bashes everybody, Mia. She’s also over on the Aniston thread bashing Aniston. She’s an equal-opportunity basher. It’s her life.

      • demian bichir says:

“She bashes everybody, Mia. She’s also over on the Aniston thread bashing Aniston. She’s an equal-opportunity basher. It’s her life.”LOL!!!

        Bitch PLEEEEASE!
It’s called celebitchy here not brangeloonie.com (just in case you still don’t know yet).
Everybody bashes EVERYBODY in this site!I would rather be an equal-opportunity basher than a loonie.
        TEAM MEME!

    • islandgirl says:

I am reading her posts and lmao because she is NUTS lol. Something is not quite right there and I see who have the problem and it is not AJ

  35. misstrishm says:

Angie is thin but I just don’t see her as sickly thin either imo. I would love to be naturally thin like her but I’m not.

  36. Jill says:

Dr. Drew is a fraud and a quack. Last year he called Angie a heroin addict and backtracked when he found himself threatened with a lawsuit. Now he’s talking about the “stigmata” of malnutrition when he wouldn’t know a stigmata if it slapped him in the face. As someone mentioned upthread, the stigmata of malnutrition show up in your hair (falling out), face (sunken eyes), skin (dry and dull) and body (distended abdomen and protruding backbones). Angie shows none of these symptoms.

There is a big difference between being underweight and being malnourished. Angie is definitely underweight and she could stand to gain a good fifteen pounds. But she shows no signs at all of being malnourished.

It really disgusts me that some hypocritical haters on here express so much fake-ass concern about her “malnutrition” when they would be absolutely delighted if she expired of the same. And you know damn well who you are.

    • MS says:

…and you last saw Angie when? You sound as if you know her personally, have seen her nude and have also examined her teeth, hair and skin.

      Pffttt!

      • Freya says:

We all make assumptions based on the pictures we see of AJ.
Do those that bash her know her personally?

  37. Eleonor says:

Oh please more than half of Hollywood actresses starve themself and are underweight. Why doesn’t he call all of them out?
    Angie has always been thin.

    • Freya says:

Exactly! They seem to be competing who can be the skinniest.

He doesn’t call all of them out because he knows that talking about AJ will give HIM more attention than talking about any of the others. That’s all.

  38. Cathy says:

Yeah, she’s to skinny. But I wish I was half as thin as her. But she still has knobby knees.

  39. RocketMerry says:

I agree. The Doctor should shut up or voice his concerns differently, but she is way too skinny.
She was not this thin in the past, and whatever the emotional problem at the base of the weight loss it would be time for her to gain a little and solve her issue.

  40. Jo 'Mama' Besser says:

He undercuts the droplets of legitimacy or insight he acheives with his constant unprofessional buffoonery. People don’t say, ‘Yeah, Dr. Drew is likely correct about a lot of this, maybe all of it’, they say, ‘Crap, I think I agree with Dr. Drew. Looks like I’m kicking myself to sleep tonight.’

  41. Lucky Charm says:

Oh, FTLOG. When my youngest was a toddler, my mother asked me if I was anorexic because I was so skinny, and she was concerned that I would need to be hospitalized. I actually was eating all the time, I just was so busy running after four kids under the age of 10, that I was burning off all my calories. I was very thin, but not weak. I could carry my four-and two-year olds at the same time and certainly was not falling over from hunger or loss of muscle strength. From being tired, maybe, but definitely not from lack of eating! Looking back at pictures of myself then, I’m amazed at just how skinny I really was. Dr. Drew, and others who don’t know anything about being a busy skinny mom, but just like to jump on the “hate Angelina” bandwagon, need to stop and stick with what they actually do know something about.

    • demian bichir says:

“Dr. Drew, and others who don’t know anything about being a BUSY SKINNY MOM, but just like to jump on the “hate Angelina” bandwagon, need to stop and stick with what they actually do know something about.”

Stop it Lucky Charm you’re going to make me cry!LOL!

    • cameron says:

      Right on!

  42. tinker says:

I suspect it is the subject not the subject matter you are offended by?
Can anyone not idolize this woman? And he has every right to say what he is saying.
Perhaps the bone lover boyfriend of hers will wake up and get her some much needed help.

  43. chloew says:

I think she is sick, and malnourished.
I do’nt have to have a medical degree to see that….she’s having issues, and prob mental, as we know she has admitted in the past. mental issues that do’nt go away.

Yeash, people, get off her back and let her deal with whatever is going on.

  44. Amanda G says:

I’m not the biggest Angelina fan, but I will say that it’s possible for a person to be naturally skinny. Considering she’s been that size her whole career I’m assuming it’s not an eating disorder. That said, I think she should gain weight. For a “sex symbol” she’s got to have one of the most unsexy bodies I’ve ever seen. No hips, skinny and lanky.

  45. skuddles says:

I’ve long believed Angelina is a bit too thin but I don’t think it’s as critical as some people suggest. She has noticeable muscle tone plus healthy skin, hair and teeth – we wouldn’t be seeing any of that if she was suffering from malnutrition. I do, however, believe this is Dr Drew’s way of implying, yet again, that Jolie is on drugs. Which I don’t believe – she has six children, a busy career and a million demands on her time and energy – no way she’d be able to manage all that, year after year, if she was a druggy. Give it up doc.

    • Jill says:

I hope he’s not that stupid. The last time he said Jolie was doing drugs he got a phone call from her lawyer and fell all over himself backtracking.

    • MS says:

Skuddles honey, when was the last time you looked inside Jolies mouth? Did you also examine her hair and look at her gums?

How is it possible you can claim something when you have never met the woman or spent an time with her… Seriously! You are doing exactly what you are accusing Dr. Drew of doing. All of her fans are!

      • Jill says:

No we are not. We are saying Drew (I refuse to honor him with the title of doctor) has no business diagnosing someone he never met, let alone treated.

      • Freya says:

Have those who say AJ is suffering from this, that and the other, ever looked into her mouth, etc?

      • skuddles says:

MS, my observation is based on the fact AJ appears to have her original teeth, no veneers to cover up tooth decay. Oh, and feel free to shove that ‘honey’ business right up your exit hole.

  46. MM says:

He is using the term, “stigmata,” in the medical sense. It means one shows visible signs of a given medical condition or disease state.

At one time, stigmata was a commonly used term in medicine. We still use it at times (e.g., the stigmata of endocarditis) and in no way does it imply melodrama on the part of the physician using the term.

He may or may not be overly dramatic, but in this case he’s just talking like a doctor would talk to another doctor.

    • Jill says:

If he is talking about the stigmata of malnutrition, he should know what they are. In this case he doesn’t seem to have a clue. They are easily available for research on the web and Angie does not show any of them.

I am becoming increasingly convinced that this guy’s degree is bogus and he is nothing but a quack.

      • Disbelieving says:

I am becoming increasingly convinced that you have some eating disordered issues, yourself, since you seem to set yourself up as a medical expert and refuse to consider his medical opinion–which should carry more weight (no pun intended) than yours. You are all over this thread attacking, at times quite viciously. What is up with that, Jill?

      • Jill says:

What’s up with that is I know from experience that being very thin does not always mean an eating disorder nor does it always mean anorexia. One can be very thin and still be well nourished. People are very different in how active they are, what size appetite they have and how fast they burn calories, which depends on how active is their metabolism. For some reason you seem to want to believe Angie has an eating disorder but you have absolutely no evidence to back it up because you don’t know what she eats or how much she eats, and for that matter, neither does Drew Pinsky.

That’s what’s up with that. And I trust that answers your question.

      • Disbelieving says:

Just as I thought nothing but rationalizations without even an acknowledgement of the information I posted.

16.8 BMI. You aren’t defending AJ, you are defending yourself. You have way too much invested in this thread for it to be otherwise.

  47. Betty says:

Well, I think he was being delicate. She looks like a drug addict in person. And her scary thin appearance at the Oscars, remember that people look BIGGER on TV, than they do in real life. I’ve seen her in person, and it’s frightening. She looks deathly.
Saying she is “naturally thin” is just crap. I have no idea what the hell is going on with her – but she is seriously ill from one cause or another.
And please don’t bring up Lara Croft – look at her earlier movies. She was slender but healthy looking.
    She just looks ill. Period.

    • miri says:

yes, she could use a few pounds, but saying she is the thinnest she has ever been, and bordering death is totally exagerated.
for one, she has been thin her whole life even before and after being pregnant 2 times. She has always had very slim calves and forearms forever, and that is what she ever shows in gowns, skirts and blouses, not her torso.
If you see her torso, you almost never see her bones. I have seen pictures of her for years and while her legs and arms look thin, her torso looks normal and you cannot see her collar bone, bones in her back etc. Only her big knees, elbows and shoulders, which seem to be big anyway.
In Cannes with the yellow dress, she was thin, but no bones. Exception only I remember around the time of her mother’s passing, when filming wanted and the changeling. She was tiny and still she got pregnant because that weight is actually not far from her natural one.
A friend of mine after delivery took years to regain weight, more or less 3 years, and she ate well and only had one kid.
I went and looked at pics of Victoria B, and Calista F. and yes you could see the bones on them.
angelina should gain weight, yes, but it will go to her torso, not to her arms and legs. If she does weightlifting, probably her veins will protude more and people will be complaining. It is bad either if she does or not.

  48. Lise says:

I’m in med school and believe me, being overweight is as dangerous if not more than being underweight. Why is nobody talking about Beth ditto or Adele ?

    • Jill says:

Is Adele moderately overweight or morbidly obese? She looked okay to me.

Octavia Spencer, now — she’s a wonderful actress, but she definitely needs to lose at least 50 lbs, if not more.

    • Karen says:

They say that people who live on reduced calories live the longest and are the healthiest so she will probably outlast most of the sanctimonious Dr. wannabe’s and perfect mothers with no faults who are the exact weight they should be who comment. That Dr. is a publicity seeking quack sharpening his claws on others reputations. The amount of hate for AJ is sort of shocking- why get so worked up about a celebrity- I need to go wash out my eyes after reading some of this stuff.

      • Freya says:

I suspect there are overweight posters among those who bash her.

I’ll say it again, AJ is a grownup and if she has a health problem she can see the best doctors. Looking after her health is mainly her responsibility.

Don’t we all have our annual checkups?

    • Lisa says:

Where have you been? That’s all anyone talks about when it comes to Adele. No one is mentioning Beth Ditto because she isn’t relevant any more.

      • Jill says:

I’m still trying to understand why people are obsessed with how Adele looks. I think she looks great. Not everybody is supposed to be a size 0. She is not markedly overweight so what is all the fuss about?

    • Freya says:

People in life insurance prefer to insure thin people, not the overweight ones.

  49. olivia says:

This reminded me of celebrities including Ryan Gosling who have lent their voices in boycotting McDonalds because of their disregard for how the animals are treated from their sources. Meanwhile clueless Angie and Brad could not care less.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/12/19/ryan-gosling-zooey-deschanel-mcdonalds_n_1158061.html

    • Freya says:

You sound as if the Jolie-Pitts are the only ones who go to McDonalds.

Do eat burgers or are you a vegetarian?

  50. Stephanie says:

I do not agree with him “diagnosing” celebrities, but I’m absolutely sure he used the word “stigmata” as in an identifying mark of disease, not as in comparing her to Jesus on the cross. Such as the “stigmata of liver disease” would be spider angiomas, palmar erythema, gynecomastia. Just sayin’.

  51. original sandy says:

i love angie, but i do wish she would put on more weight, calling her and brad names says a lot more about you and not them, they are still an admirable, successful, caring parents and partners.they are a good looking pair and makes a fantastic couple, they use their celebrity to help others, no one is perfect.

  52. Stephanie says:

He really needs to shut his trap. If he is in fact an MD, he should remember the “do no harm” part of the Hippocratic Oath, and IMO, he is speaking out of turn as a medical professional who has never treated her.

The other part of the Hippocratic Oath that doesn’t get as much press time is that people’s business is THEIR BUSINESS and no one else’s, and you have an obligation to keep it private. Yes, he has on opinion about Angelina, but he should couch it as such, and not try to diagnose her publicly. How embarrassing.

  53. manly says:

    lol….she must be pregnant!fini.

  54. Lisa says:

I’d normally never agree with Dr. Drew, but he said it perfectly. Calling her malnourished isn’t calling her ugly or gross — it’s calling a spade a spade. She looks stressed and skinny. Does that mean she’s starving herself? No. Does that mean she IS malnourished? Nobody knows that except for Angelina and her doctor. Stress can cause temporary nutrient deficiency, but hell, everyone would be considered anorexic if that’s all it took.

It isn’t our business why she lost weight. But as someone who knows first hand, being underweight is no picnic. She probably feels awful.

    • Jill says:

Lisa, you’re contradicting yourself. First you say he is right to call her malnourished; then you say nobody knows if she is malnourished except her and her doctor. Drew is not her doctor and he should not be calling her anything.

      • Lisa says:

He’s saying she *looks* malnourished. I agree with him, but all I’m saying is that nobody except for her and her doctor know *why.* You can be malnourished and run down from stress and not be clinically anorexic. He says he isn’t diagnosing her either; my comment was more to commenters who insist she has an e.d.

  55. Original Lucy says:

Dr. Drew should not be making any statements about a person (and yes, even though she is a celebrity, AJ is a person) that he has not treated…What if AJ had a disease, like cancer, and didn’t want to disclose it to the public, and this quack is saying she is malnourished…He does not know AJ’s medical history…he should not open his pie hole…end of story!

  56. JessSaysNo says:

Dr. Drew is such a famewhore. A real psychologist would understand that a diagnosis is bullshit unless he is the personal doctor of Angelina and if he was, he couldn’t speak on it.

She’s obviously malnourished and anorexic. Just because she is rich and famous and a seemingly good mom doesn’t mean she doesn’t have serious problems with food. She is sick. She needs help.

  57. Deloise says:

She looks like a zombie, it’s a shame that celbs like her are so famous. She is a mediocre actress, comes across as very weird in interviews. The only reason she is where she is, is because she and Brad are blatant PR whores. Celebrity culture at its most extreme. Pretty sick!

    • demian bichir says:

“She and Brad are blatant PR whores. Celebrity culture at its most extreme. Pretty sick!”
      Exactly!

      • Freya says:

Then why don’t you just ignore them? You don’t have to click on stories about them!

    • demian bichir says:

Because like i said in an earlier comment:
“It’s called CELEBITCHY here not LOONIE.COM”.We are only here for the LOVE of GOSSIP!

  58. Cerulean says:

I like AJ but she is becoming Way too skinny. I think it’s partly because her body type. She looks thick waisted very quickly even though her limbs are naturally thin. In order to keep her middle trim, her limbs get too twiggy. She needs to work out to balance it with muscle tone.
I think she is naturally thin. My husband is bone thin and loses weight very quickly and can look gaunt very easily so I know first hand that it’s possible.
But I also think she needs to address her weight in a healthier manner. She doesnt look good like this.

Dr Drew…shut up. It’s not fair to attack specific celebs without ever evaluating them. I know what he is saying but no one likes a famewhore.

  59. teri says:

I don’t even know who this clown is saying garbage about Angelina being to skinny. Angelina has always been skinny, funny how he didn’t do his research. For all you naturally skinny women and girls out there you look sick according this clown. Of course she gained some muscle in Tomb Raider but she worked out for months to get that.

  60. Sarah says:

Is it just me or does Angelina’s dress really look like a curtain from Tara?

  61. caitrin says:

I detest the media whore Dr. Drew, he is the sort of Frankenstein which only our current celebrity obssessed culture could create, and sustain. That said, I don’t agree w/ Kaiser at all that he has some special sort of “hatred” for Jolie; he doesn’t, it’s just that ANY criticism of her idol at all makes Kaiser become a little bit—fanatically and blindly illogical. Frankly, yes: AJ is far TOO thin, even dangerously so, she appears to be virtually wasting away. And for her to be called out on i t (rather than revered for it) seems like a healthier approach than to allow her body to become an “ideal” for millions of insecure and impressionable young women, some of whom have eating disorders already. So, while i intensely dislike “Dr.” Drew, I am not against what he is saying: she looks not just severely underweight, but unattractively and *dangerously* malnourished, as well. It is painful to look at what this stunningly beautiful woman is doing to herself, and to her body, and to express public concern about it seems a LOT wiser than indirectly encouraging others to try to emulate her, by blithely pretending she is merely “naturally” extremely but healthily thin.

    • MW says:

I don’t think Dr. Drew has a special hatred for Jolie . . . he just loves to primly sit there and act all aghast and shocked and superior about most anyone or anything he and his guests find to rip apart and tsk tsk about. He likes to also act naive and innocent and shake his head and get “choked up and sad” about SOMETHING at least once a night, too. What REALLY irks me is he often has his facts wrong and goes off on people about something that is totally not even true. Then they all sit there and judgmentally shake their superior heads. Blech, Dr. Drew. And I don’ t watch his show as a rule, but he’s on right after Prime News which I like.

  62. Betty says:

Wasn’t this the same dr drew who had Courtney stiffness (the teen bride) on his show to sonogram her breasts to see if they were implants. And when they clearly showed that they were and she denied it, he didn’t dare call her out to her face? If it’s him what an a$$h**%!

  63. Shay Kay says:

I am not a doctor, I don’t play one on tv, and I have absolutely no medical training however it is my opinion based on the use of my own eyesight that Angelina Jolie has an eating disorder.

  64. red says:

he means ‘stigmata’ like ‘signs’ of malnutrition. if you’ve had an eating disorder or know about them, you can easily see stuff – like knuckles bigger than usual. ratio of “thickness” to how much bone contour you can see. the “bobble head” look. I’m no doctor but she’s definitely malnourished. it may be an eating disorder, it may be because she’s sooooo busy (which is bullshit), it may be from drugs. He’s not claiming to know why, if I read his words correctly. He’s just saying she’s malnourished. Too skinny and too fat people are malnourished.

PS – I dislike Dr. Drew. He IS a fame whore.

    • Betty says:

Totally agree. I think he was holding back on what he really wants to say is the cause, so he just went with “she has all the hallmarks of malnutrition”.
It’s not saying she’s malnourished – he’s saying that she has those signs.
Seriously, guys if your friend looked like this you would be worried for her life.
And yes, we all agree that Dr. Drew is sad, but that doesn’t mean he’s incorrect.

    • Disbelieving says:

      Thank you, Red. Totally agree!!!

  65. Original Chloe says:

These threads are unbearable since the Aniston Squad invasion.

    • meme says:

amen to that. loons cannot deal with people who don’t worship st. angie.

      • Jill says:

Memo to meme: Continually referring to Jolie as Saint Angie Ho and her fans as loons negates the validity of any point you are trying to get across and makes you sound like you’re four years old.

    • Jill says:

@Mistryness: Speaking of “disturbed, twisted broads”, have you checked out your co-Loonifers on FF? They are the most insane women on the planet. You’d fit right in over there.

      • Freya says:

I hope this guy will shut up, at least for a while, and THINK before opening his mouth!

    • Freya says:

Obviously it hasn’t got through to you, after all these years, that there wasn’t a HOME to wreck. Have you forgotten Pitt’s Parade interview?

    • Jill says:

LOL you said you were gone. You had to stick around to spew a few more chunks of bile? Get a freaking life, will you? Shoo. Scat. Vamoose.

    • Jill says:

WHOA!!i! BTFU. Where do you get off slandering Jolie’s fans posting on this thread as “honorless, evil who*res”? Your emotional instability is one thing but this is taking it to a whole new dimension. You are way, way way out of line now. You are probably used to that snake pit over on FF, where those women are certifiably insane, but we try to keep the level of discourse within reasonably civilized boundaries. Calling us honorless, evil wh*res is a violation of this site’s terms of service. Leave that sh*t over on FF but don’t bring it over here. We don’t need it and we don’t want it.

    • Wendi says:

LMAO! Try not to hold it in so much Mistry.

    • CarrotcakeFan says:

So what explains Aniston’s slutty cheating homewrecking ways? AJ never has been a homewrecker, thats JA’s area. Ask Heidi Bivens. The lack of a moral compass the loonistons have speaks volumes.

  66. Thea says:

My Mom also said the same thing when she saw the Oscars….”She’s too thin” referring to Angelina and I agreed with her.

  67. Moonsetful says:

Angelina, sadly, has those veined scrawny arms and rake-like hands that is not healthy for a woman of her age. We can chime on about how awful this is, and how all women should be proud of their size, including heavy women… but this never sticks.

As a teen and a young woman I was very thin, it was natural for me to be thin and everyone commented I needed to put on some weight.

Once I hit 25, I did. It’s not natural for middle-aged women to be that thin. The models in the catalogs are often only 14 years old and we compare ourselves and everyone with that ideal.

The only way to get their for most women is to starve themselves. It’s sad.

    • anytime says:

it’s very common for naturally thin people to get a metabolism slow down during their early 20’s. they’re not called freshman 15’s for nothing!

    • Katherine says:

Angelina is not middle-aged. Metabolic slowdown usually hits around 40 or so not in your 20s. College students usually gain weight because they are away from home for the first time and their eating habits generally change as do their drinking habits – both of which can up your weight without any change in your metabolism.

  68. Freya says:

    @sm255

Like I said, you only hear the bad things, but the UN’s various agencies also do good work!
I read and don’t like it that many who work there don’t pay their parking tickets, and they seem to have a lot of cocktail parties. It’s some of the people who are bad. The UN just needs improving. It’s good to be a member of an organization to which all countries in the world belong.

No country is forced to be a member. The US can pull out if it wants, but it doesn’t! Why do you think that is?

    • Wendi says:

Because they have veto power over any resolutions made and if they pulled out they would have no control over what the UN does. This way, if they don’t like something, they can unilaterally kill it.

      • Freya says:

Yes, it’s useful to be a member of the UN! The US uses its veto power to always side with Israel, sometimes being the only one, with the Marshall Islands, to support Israel. Now that Russia and China have used their veto power in support of Iran, the US is upset.

No country should be a permanent member of the SC, with veto power. Rotate membership of the SC! Rotate veto power! I stop here, because this thread is about a guy called Drew.

      • demian bichir says:

“No country should be a permanent member of the SC, with veto power. Rotate membership of the SC! Rotate veto power!”

Freya, the real problem is the corruption!Sadly, the world is a Corruptocracy always been always will!
This is called the jungle law.com lol!
There are country ambassadors who are getting paid under the table to vote for or against resolutions.
Even if you rotate veto power NOTHING will change!

  69. anytime says:

well, he isn’t wrong, sorry! i mean, you definitely are starving yourself when men on the internet say you look to skinny. when usually it’s never men who say that, only women. i have not heard men call a girl “too skinny” since the old days of kate moss, seldom days of keira knightley, donatella versace’s daughter right before her hospitalization, and now this. and you just know she lost more weight for this event. she was starting to look a tiny bit healthier last summer, like she gained a pound (but that is all). and suddenly we see her at the oscars thinking she looks like hot shit and pulls out her anorexic, sad looking leg out of a gown that (normally) looked gorgeous. she needs to get help, that’s why i’m shaming her, not for having an e.d., but for being friggen 37 and still not getting help! she has six kids and god knows how many pets and you have to be alive for them and stop doing unhealthy stuff in general. not to mention if this is the new beauty ideal… for women or otherwise… then we all will need help.

  70. Fleur says:

Dr Drew, put down the thesaurus. The word stigmata has very particular connotations, and is not to be thrown around in casual conversation. It is a noun defining the physical manifestation of Christ’s wounds on the cross. That is what stigmata means, and it means only that. It does not mean stigma and it’s not a synonym for the word marking. I would never say someone has the stigmata of the flu, just like it would be absurd to say someone has the mehndi of a chainsmoker. It’s an idiotic comparison. Remember Sarah Palin’s ‘blood libel’ comment in relation to herself and the tragic Gabrielle Giffords shooting? Public figures need to be more educated about the meaning of religious phrases before they use religious imagery.

    • Wendi says:

      Fleur:

Stigmata is the plural of stigma.

      http://medical-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/stigma

    • Fleur says:

Yes, the root of the word is the same (This is grade school latin talking. Stigmata would be the plural declension of stigma), but stigma and stigmata are not synoymous. The plural definition of the word in modern english differs from the singular. It’s right here:

      http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/stigma

STIGMA 1a archaic : a scar left by a hot iron : brand b : a mark of shame or discredit : stain c : an identifying mark or characteristic; specifically : a specific diagnostic sign of a disease

STIGMATA plural : bodily marks or pains resembling the wounds of the crucified Jesus and sometimes accompanying religious ecstasy

  71. mk martin says:

Mostly, I love her. But it makes me crazy when she goes to f’ing MCDONALDS. What the hell. Too many points about bringing under-privileged children into your life and exposing them to serious health evils. You don’t eat much, fine, don’t go to f’ing McDick’s. Ever. It’s a ridiculous thing to do even if you eat normally and don’t have a kaleidescope of children to set an example for.

    • CarrotcakeFan says:

“Serious health evils”? Wtf? Get real! Everyone enjoys McDs every now and then, especialy children. Its one of lifes pleasures. Geez if a kid can’t go to McDs every now and then…… It would be extremely cruel to deny kids that treat. Don’t be such a wowser. McDs is no more of a health ‘evil’ than anything else.

      • demian bichir says:

        Said CarrotcakeFan lol!
St Angie ho has the moola to go to every f***ing 1st class restaurant in the world.Mc D is for the poor families that can’t afford to go to a real restaurant, she just went there to say:
Hey! i’m like you i go there with my kids too!(oh and i eat too!).This screams big PR STUNT.

      • Jill says:

Thank you. These “food police” crack me up. Once every few months I stop by McDonalds for a cheeseburger and fries. They still make some delicious cheeseburgers.

      • demian bichir says:

Have you ever met somebody who worked there?
I don’t think so!Because if you did you wouldn’t even make those stops anymore:the food police is definitely needed here in the literal sense lol!

  72. demian bichir says:

    Freya!Why don’t you get it?
The US is the root of the problem! They want it that way!5 bitches meangirling the world=UN.com
“No country is forced to be a member” MY ASS!
Do you want to be a member of the most corrupted organisation in the world?Where basically you don’t have any real power?ME THINKS NOT!
But if you don’t they will come after you with sanctions and fake resolutions.

    • Freya says:

I agree! Five countries bullying the rest of the world. There should be changes made, like cancelling the veto power that those five have in the SC.

However, it’s good to be a member of the only organization in the world to which all countries belong. The UN has many agencies to which a new, and especially small and poor country can turn for help.

  73. TheOriginalVictoria says:

i religiously lived on Mickey Ds for years. I didn’t get fat off of it because I was active but when I finally gave it up I had more energy and had way better skin. I still got there occasionally for their McFlurries. I am proud to say that my kids have only eaten Mickey D’s twice and that was for their Oreo Flurries.

However, in regards to Angie, I’ve never seen so much hate for someone who doesn’t seem to deserve it as much as others. Grant it, I don’t think she or paragone of virtue and what not. They are human and make mistakes like everyone else, but the people in here that talk so much shit about her are so pressed and stressed more than they are about anyone else on this site except for maybe Leann Rimes, it makes me wonder what the fuck are they doing in their lives that has them this way?

  74. madpoe says:

and I still hate Dr. Drew for killing Mike Starr.

I thought have a D R in front of your name made you educated.

  75. Maya says:

He’s an unprofessional hack. What kind of doctor diagnoses someone they’ve never even met, especially if they’re getting their information from a source like In Touch or The National Enquirer?

I just hope Angie ate some French fries or something when she took the kids to McDonald’s. Maybe even a couple of Mcnuggets. She’s not a vegetarian, is she?

  76. mummy says:

Dr. Drew doesn’t hate Jolie in fact he might be helping her. It sure doesn’t help when fans such as yourself ignore the obvious and let her hide under the illusion that she doesn’t have any problems whatsoever. That her thinness is natural to her is wrong if you look at pictures of years gone by. Also, look at the arms for heaven’s sake … it’s not brain surgery to figure out there’s a problem.

  77. wayne says:

DR.Drew is becoming another idiot like “Dr Phil”.

  78. Kim says:

He is absolutely right. He didnt bag on her. He even says she is a beautiful woman.. but needs better nutrition & he is 100% right.

  79. Johan says:

I think she might be pregnant again. Thats probably why she is hiding her stomach region in that ugly dress. And using the leg to distract from it.

  80. lileneboheme says:

She’s either back on drugs, has an eating disorder or both. Either way I hope she gets help soon, she looks awful.

  81. BabaRamBaba says:

I have no clue who Dr. Drew is but he is correct that Ms Jolie has been looking severely underweight lately. It was disturbing looking at her at the Oscars.

She is one of the few celebs I find fascinating. I am sad that she is going down this road. She was such a beautiful and strong woman. Now she looks so fragile, almost elderly in her limbs.

If it makes her happy that’s her business but she doesn’t look happy to me.

  82. selina says:

Just to get one thing clear: Stigmata is the very correct Latin plural of Stigma. As a doctor myself, I fully can second Dr. Drews observance on Angelina Jolie. I do not understand all the hate directed to Dr. Drew at all. Having worked myself with under- and malnourished people (mainly due to anorexia) I see clear signs indicating a such disorder. Just to mention a few, her bony appearance, her atrophied subcutis (normal fat deposition in skin) and the growth of lanugo hair (reappearance of long, thin body hair in anorexic people, usually only visible in babies) on her arms and ellbows, which you can detect on close ups when she forgot to shave her arms, are clear indicators of malnourishment.
What really strucks me is the fact that media still bows in awe of Angelina, ignoring how her being a role model can affect entire generations of young girls. She won’t be there trying to help them, that’s for sure. What a strange world!

  83. dean says:

I enjoy, lead to I found just what I was looking for. You have ended my four day long hunt! God Bless you man. Have a great day. Bye

  84. Mia says:

He doesn’t hate her, he is trying to help her. If she doesn’t get help – she’ll die. makeup and fancy cloths can’t hide her skeleton frame.
