These are photos from last night’s Human Rights Campaign gala held in LA. Chelsea Handler was the hostess of the gala – for an organization that preaches tolerance and acceptance. FOR REAL? The Human Rights Campaign might want to rethink that one. Not only is Chelsea not the even close to the right “face” of the HRC, this is what she wore. To a gala. Where she was the hostess. A beachy coverup dress and those biker boots. WTF? I sometimes feel like Chelsea is like the 50-something alcoholic mother of a teenager, and the mom is constantly trying to (drunkenly) seem younger, and “wear what the kids are wearing.” Also: for all of the Jolie-haters who constantly complain about The Vein – look at Chelsea’s forehead vein. That vein is trying to out-vein Angelina’s.
Also at the event: Joe Manganiello. It’s always nice to see a straight actor with a “butch” image supporting the HRC. Joe’s also really tight with Matt Bomer. I think they went to school together… and now I’m thinking about what it would look like if Bomer and Manganiello were getting crazy on each other. HOT.
And here’s Charlize, fresh from WonderCon. She received the HRC’s Ally for Equality Award. I feel like Charlize wins a gay-rights award every other year – she’s a huge HRC and GLAAD supporter. As for her style in this black Acne dress – if Charlize hadn’t just adopted a baby, I would be suggesting that she’s pregnant. Seriously – this dress was made for pregnancy rumors. Maybe Fassbender’s the father. Or maybe Alexander Skarsgard. Or maybe BOTH!

She makes far too many racist “jokes” (I don’t find her funny at all), and she should have turned down this invitation. Her outfit reminds me of the puffer jacket and knit ski cap (with a pompom on the top!) that Dick Cheney wore to an Auschwitz memorial a few years back–totally inappropriate and almost insulting to the cause.

Why would she turn down an invitation to host for the HRC?
If she did she would be vilified.
The choice of host is a reflection on the HRC, no one else.
Obviously the HCR need a better PR team.
There is no need to rag on Handler for grabbing onto this opportunity to improve her PR, as any other celeb would do.
Edit: Just a thought, maybe the HRC couldnt get a more appropriate high profile celeb to host.

Ick, not me. I tried to like her a while back, but found I just can’t. Her co-hosts are funny though. I think she tries to be like Joan Rivers or Kathy Griffin, but just come across mean, and normally looks cheap to me. My hubby has a different phrase for it. (Rode hard and put away wet)..Yikes! Harsh, but she seems like she embraces that.

I watch Chelsea’s show and she has often said she would wear her biker boots all the time if she could. I thought she was joking as walking the red carpet and hosting her show, etc would seem to require her to at least put on heels for a short time. Apparently she wasn’t kidding!

My cousin and his wife had fertility issues so they started the process for adoption in China and it took years. During this time they never used birth control even though they weren’t actively trying to conceive. But to their surprise the wife got pregnant. So she was 4 months pregnant when they officially adopted their daughter from China.
Long story to say that Charlize could be pregnant. She could have started the adoption process and in the meantime pulled a January Jones.

Chelsea looks strangely younger than usual….her face is kinda shiny and greasy though….Also I just see a slight vein on her forehead, nothing bad……that’s not to say Angelina’s more prominent vein is a bad thing. It’s all genetics (she had the vein when she was extremely fit and healthy in her mid 20′s)…also in the new Dark Shadows Trailer Eva Green has that vein.
But yeah, wtf….freaking Chelsea is the host o_o.
Well, although I love Charlize (she’s so gorgeous)…she might want to rethink her friends…Charlize, Chelsea,Reese,and Jennifer all bombed at the box office…although I guess This means War isn’t exactly a bomb, just a huge underperformer.

What do you mean Charlize bombed at the box office? Young Adult did not bomb. It was made on a 12 mil budget and made back its budget within the first month and is set to pass 25-30 million soon. The film- thought to have been impossible to make because of how unlikeable the protagonist is- has done perfectly alright. The fact that critics adored it also helped.
The other women- yes they had bombs both financially and critically. Charlize is the only one in that “group” who had a recent film that did well both financially and critically. It’s not going to be making Twilight numbers here but for a very small budget it has done well.

Very rough looking woman. I think it’s safe to say that she didn’t have a stylist to help pick out this strange ensemble. No stylist would suggest ankle biker boots on such stumpy legs and odd length dress. She admitted on her show once that she wears hair extensions. My guess is she is trying to look like Reese Witherspoon’s older, less attractive sister?

I feel like someone representing a human rights organization in any way should display a modicum of decorum, but i guess that’s just me and my stuffy old-lady ways, thinking that human rights as an issue should be treated with much seriousness. Maybe humor could indeed be a powerful weapon in their defense, but even then they shouldn’t have gone with her, cuz she’s more nasty than funny.
