Once he's inaugurated, we won't see stories like this, so let's enjoy them while they last and look forward to him putting his nose to the grindstone in 67 days. Also, to those that apparently fear socialism - don't. This is something that was fed to you by a campaign, otherwise you would never have thought of it on your own. I certainly didn't hear anyone screaming socialism before the campaign did. We have always had a tax and spend system and the Republicans presided over the largest expansion of government since FDR. And, as the great FDR said, "The only thing to fear is fear itself." P.S. The only way we got out of the Depression was through FDR's innovative programs, which would probably be called "socialist" today. Let's do what's best for our country and stop with the labeling. Even when things don't move at the pace people might like, I reckon he'll continue to have the goodwill of the majority behind him because enough people want him to succeed. No miracles, just a steady hand at the wheel. That slideshow is really touching. Such a strong, connected family. I like him as a future president and I am happy he got elected, but this degree of hero-worship worries me. The higher the pedestal people put him on, the further he'll fall on the first occasion that it turns out he is human after all. America loves to tear down its heroes. He's not the messiah. He's a charismatic man with a good PR team, and he appears to be suitable for the position of president. He is not fundamentally better or different from yourself or the people around you. SOmething about the guy resonates with most people. His kids look cute and there is no time that he has seemed pretentious or false or slimey. He will not be perfect but boy he is near perfect. I remember reading that he wanted to go home some weekends to spend time with the kids and his campaign managers told him if he wanted to win, he would have to forget it. He seems like a genuinely nice person. He is also tackling Washington lobbying and doing so without a condescending manner. Gotta love the man.
