Kim Kardashian to Jon Hamm: “We’re all working hard & have to respect one another”

Two days ago, Jon Hamm appeared on the Today Show to promote Mad Men with some of his castmates. In the course of the discussion, Matt Lauer asked The Hamm about his recent comments regarding the celebration, promotion and rewarding of “incuriousness” as seen in (Hamm’s words) “f–king idiots” like Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton. While Paris still hasn’t breathed a word about Jon’s comments, Ol’ Kat-face tried to hitch her ass to Hamm and idiotically call him out for being “careless” in his wording. The Hamm initially responded by basically saying, “Nothing personal or anything, but yeah, that sh-t still stands” (in so many words). Then on Today he went even further by saying:

“I don’t think [my words] were careless. I think they were accurate. It’s a part of our culture that I certainly don’t identify with, and I don’t really understand the appeal of it other than in a sort of car crash sensibility. And it’s not something that I partake in or enjoy, but it is what is and here we are…. There are a lot of channels on the dials and those channels need to be filled up with things… It’s different strokes for different folks.”

[The Hamm being awesome]

So of course Kim Kardashian had to respond. Again. She called into Ryan Seacrest’s radio show yesterday and she basically screamed “UNCLE!”

“I respect Jon and I am a firm believer that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, not everyone takes the same path in life. We’re all working hard and we all have to respect one another. I just feel like, to be honest, it’s all about trying to stay focused and keeping everything positive. It really takes a lot more energy and effort to be harsh than to say something nice and be positive.”

[Kim’s comments via Radar]

Eh. I’m glad she didn’t try to remind us that she’s a successful “writer” and “producer”. Is it wrong that I don’t completely hate what she said? Yes, I’m firmly ensconced on Team Hamm (forever and always), and I love that The Hamm isn’t afraid to engage in a real conversation about mind-numbing trash television and what it says about our (dumb) culture. While I think Kim’s “give everybody a gold star because we’re all part of the same celebrity ecosystem” argument is much too simplistic, I give her some credit for her Zen-like approach here. She’s basically saying “Live and let live, bitches.”

Oh, and Ryan asked Kim is she’s dating Kanye West. She said, “I think I’m still married…I’m really not dating right now at all: I’m really just focusing on work. I know I always say this, but I’m trying to just get through my situation and just have fun.” Sigh… she really is that vapid.

Oh, and I have no idea why these jeans exist. I think I had a pair of these when I was 7 years old. They were a bad idea then, and they’re a bad idea now.

Does she actually think she’s doing the same job as Jon Hamm ? Seriously ? Her meds seem stronger than I thought.

    • autumndaze says:

Right? If I don’t want to respect someone who achieved their level of fame by getting peed on in a porn film, then that is my right. And I am “positive” that this post didn’t take much “energy” or “effort” to register my disgust with Kim and her entire narcissistic family.

      • heylee says:

Kim is entitled to her opinion, John is entitled to his. But seriously, Kim is delusional to keep responding to these comments. Kim is a freaking reality star who sells herself out and her life out for money and the camera – hello married for 72 freaking days before ending in divorce? And we are highlighting her life decisions as opposed to an inner city teacher who is scraping to get by and changing lives? She would not be on tv if enough people did not want to watch her craptacular life decisions blow up in her face but it doesn’t mean that we cannot point out our distaste for the subject matter – if we don’t like it! Just because the pimp works hard and earns a lot of money doesn’t mean we cannot criticize him/her for the manner in which they earn their money…

      • Buffy says:

Ok. I have seen that peed on comment before and having never seen the “video”, haha, is it true or a joke??? I really shouldn’t care but I really have to admit I want to know ‘cuz it seems just too wierd. Someone fill me in. Lol 🙂

      • Leikyn says:

Amen. No matter where she is now or in the future, no matter how much money she makes, I will never, ever, ever, never be able to respect someone who LET A GUY PEE ON HER! Just say no.

      • KATY says:

I agree 100%!! I do not HAVE to respect anyone regardless of whether they have money or not. Jon Hamm is smart and talented and as far as I know he does not whore himself out to make a living.

      • ol cranky says:

the Kardashians need to learn that respect is earned. You don’t have to respect them because they say they’re working hard. They are where they are because they had gobs of money from their father (and step-father) and loads of Hollywood connections. Kim didn’t have to hustle to get investors to fund her great idea and letting someone film you for a reality show (despite the “acting” they do on it) isn’t really what most hard-working people, respect as “working hard”

    • Tapioca says:

Well, Kim K and her 4 (2 underage) sisters dance around in their skimpies a lot on their show, whilst Jon Hamm happily cashed the cheque for Sucker Punch. You know, the paedo’s wet dream movie about 5 clothes-allergic teen prostitutes.

      Glass houses and stones!

      • YuYa says:

Exactly. He didn’t invent the cure for cancer with his “acting”. He needs to take a look in the mirror and take stock of his contributions.

I don’t care for Kim and have never watched her shows, but what she is doing is just as, if not more “popular” to the general public than what he does. FYI, I don’t watch mad men either.

This whole judgey thing from “ACTORS” is really pointless and very condescending on their parts. Reality TV is not everyone’s cup of tea, but it is enough of some people’s cup of tea that it is considered a legitimate entertainment source. Just like a show about advertising and sexism in the 60’s is a legitimate entertainment source. One isn’t better than another in the scheme of things. Both are candy for the brain.

    • Molly says:

Let’s be serious. Neither of them are working that hard. Jon looks and sounds like a handsome cartoon prince and Kim makes money off of her ass. Jon makes a great Don Draper precisely because of his looks and he’s done similar roles in other films (so funny on 30 Rock).

Neither of them are brain surgeons or cancer researchers or social workers. They’re rich people who have fun for a living while directing millions into their bank accounts. Jon Hamm may represent the classier part of the entertainment industry, and Kim can turn her crap to gold.

Neither of them should be bitching about how hard they work or how much better they are than the other person. It makes them both look stupid and petty.

Also, I’d like to add that I would watch a Jon Hamm sex tape (if it was free on the internet).

      • LovenWorth says:

        I totally agree!

      • ZenB!tch says:

Did Jon Hamm *SAY* he worked hard? I thought he said he was tired of watching blithering idiots become famous (for being peed on in a sex tape by the relative of a D Lister).

KK is the one who is working soooooo hard.. well being peed on would be VERY hard for me. Said pee-er would not live to finish peeing let alone tell the tale but she is TRASH! So whatev. I think Jon is being very nice and polite by not saying so.

      • Mrs. Odie 2 says:

They’re entertainers. How hard could they be working? Their gardeners and cleaning women are working hard. They are both very lucky. They won some genetic lotteries and had a whole lotta luck. Actors are not generally very well-educated. Most of them have no college educations. Hamm has a degree from Missouri, but it’s in theater. Kim graduated from high school, but I teach nigh school and that isn’t very hard to accomplish. You can get a D in every class you ever take and still get a diploma. So, he’s an actor and doesn’t care for the reality genre. Well, his show is not exactly a morality play, so he should climb down off his high horse. What I love is that he isn’t doing any back pedaling or “it was taken out of context” coward stuff. It’s his opinion and I agree with it. But he’s an ACTOR, not a social worker or a nurse or something.

  2. FOREVER says:

I wish I could make millions from 1 porn movie.

  3. anya says:

Strongly disagree- why should the Hamm have to be positive about these vapid fakes? Why should he respect their right to work hard at scamming the public whilst making millions?

    • JudyK says:

      What she said.

The Kardashian shows are so lacking in narrative that most of the production money is spent taking glamorous city/home/club/restaurant shots w/ dramatic music in the background. There is absolutely NO SUBSTANCE to any of their shows, and I refuse to listen to Khloe talk like a baby and Lamar mumble between such shots.

    • bluhare says:

Couldn’t agree more. It’s refreshing to see someone actually take ownership of their words instead of spewing out some fake apologetic bullshit when asked about it.

  4. Hypocricy says:

Can’t she just shut her trap about Hamm and her so called ‘Working hard’ motto, now ?

Where is Snoop when we need him ?

  5. nogin the nog says:

So Hamm prefers to work with the hugely talented Lohan, his choice of work mate, personally I prefer air head celebrities who are not criminals. Me-thinks Hamm is what we call this side of the Atrlantic a “lovey” – a pretentious Act-tor (try saying that like Dame Judy).
    ta

    • keri says:

I doubt he “prefers” working with Lohan. Consider they merely appeared on the same show? And their were producers who preferred they work together. Also, pretty sure the Hamm was on the show as a buffer since it was obvious Linds wasn’t quite ready for that ‘comeback’. Lindsay may be a crack addict, but she started with some talent. I don’t know about anyone that defends Kim K…..as Hamm would say “different strokes for different folks”

      • Molly says:

When you’re an actor, you have to be professional and do what you’re told.

Meryl Streep even worked with Lohan. So did Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.

The best thing to do is be professional.

    • Relli says:

When did he work with lohan? (edit, oh SNL. Somehow i think he was there as friend to the cast and backup in case crack-shenanigans, not for LL)

I am not a huge Jon Hamm fan but I do know he has been a working actor for over 2 decades. He started out as drama teacher for high school, the lovely Ellie Kemper was a student of his. He is one of those rare success stories in the H-weird that started out taking small bit parts and broke out in Mad Men, but certainly paid his dues before that.

Now please feel free to correct me, its been a few years since I have been to LA, but isn’t there a hierarchy of actors in Hollywood TV vs. movie …. and the true bottom feeders being reality TV stars. So really all he is doing is stating the facts. Kat-face is just mad becuase he speaks the truth, she’s a nobody, and that means she loses face with those who really think she is something special(YES THOSE PEOPLE EXIST). She is just some rich spoiled kid who grew up in BH and wanted to be “famous,” and didn’t want to do any serious hard work to make it happen.

      • YuYa says:

She’s not a “nobody” though. She’s just as legitimate as any other Actor in Hollywood. Just because she narrates her “life” and Hamm parrots lines fed to him doesn’t mean that what she is doing as entertainment for the masses is any less valuable.

They are all their for “our” entertainment, not for some higher purpose.

Yes, there is a hierarchy in Hollywood, but so is there in any corporation in the world. The Maintenance Person performs an important function just as the Executive Assistant does. Just because one sits in an office and one fixes it doesn’t mean that one function has less value, they just have different values.

Same with scripted entertainment and “reality” entertainment. Someone who watches one over the other (IE MAD MEN) isn’t more intelligent than the other, they just like different things.

      • Relli says:

YUYA… There are so many things i want to contradict in your statement, but i see you have gone up and down the page defending the trash so i am not going to bother.

In my world she is a nobody. I have never watched her show and I personally find her vapid, infantile and emotionally stunted. But I grew up with a lot of entitled trust fund babies so i dont think I find them nearly as interesting as others do.

      • Raven says:

Definitely agree with your second paragraph, Relli. He has paid his dues. And I really think KK is pretty worthless. If she went into seclusion tomorrow and never came out, I’m not sure anyone would notice.

But it raises a question for me. Does she have a SAG card? I read that you get them if you are on television and have speaking lines. I can’t find a direct answer online. I remember years ago when IIRC, SAG tried to deny Rodney Dangerfield a card. But if you can get them for speaking lines on TV, then the Duggars should have them as well as any reality star. And, technically, so should any news anchor who has lines written for them. Somehow the thought of her having a SAG card disturbs me.

YUYA… There are so many things i want to contradict in your statement, but i see you have gone up and down the page defending the trash so i am not going to bother.

So contradict them! I am not defending anything other than the fact that Hamm is a big ole hypocrite. I’ve repeatedly said that I am not a Kim K fan, never watched her show, but I know bullshit when I read it. He’s in the same industry looking to get the same things, otherwise…his ass would be whiling away in Fargo, ND running and acting in the local theatre. But, it’s not, he’s in Hollywood playing the same stupid game. Looking for the same stupid recognition that everyone else there is looking for. Hell, his girlfriend is going down the same plastic cheekbone/botox path as everyone else there!

No one in that industry is “better” than anyone else, they are all the same. Some just have had better PR. It’s a superficial industry that exists only to provide “US” entertainment. That’s it. They aren’t curing cancer, finding new planets, building tornado proof buildings, healing people, teaching people….none of that. They are in it purely for their own ego’s.

        Just my opinion.

      • Relli says:

@Raven, I don’t believe that reality stars entitled to SAG cards because most reality shows do not use SAG writers. NOW i dont know that for sure,
so anyone who knows for sure, please educate me because

        a) i dont work in the entertainment industry and

b)i participate in celebrity gossip becuase it is silly fun NOT because i really want to debate the internal workings of Hollywood. I

BUT i do recall in 2008 when all the writers went on strike and the only thing on was reality TV, the reason they were able to air those shows is because the writers were not SAG members. And it was sort of a hot-button issue when reality TV was more popular and perhaps didn’t have such the stigma it does now.

        Also i dont feed trolls.

      • nogin the nog says:

sure Hamm is doing a job, but its him that got all precious about himself and his fellow “actors” being better than others. Now here he is kissing up to Wall St, a real bunch of hard working, non druggies that aren’t stealing from ordinary folk. Sure it was a gig his bosses required, he did it, so either Hamm and family K are all whores or none of them are.

    • Lindsey G. says:

By work with, you mean appear in an SNL sketch for less than a minute with La Lohan? LOL…okay den.

    • ZenB!tch says:

LL may now be a crack ho (literally) but she was originally famous for work and she had some talent and was a cute kid. LL f*d up her life. However, at least she gets paid extra if she gets peed on. Yeah, I will never get past that. EVER. No one, not Paris, not Pammy, is as low as a Ms. Lardtrashian

  6. Anne de Vries says:

Forget the jeans, wtf does she have on her feet??

And for the love of science, Hamm, DON’T REPLY

    • Esmom says:

I know they look like summer versions of the orthopedic boots I had to wear after foot surgery. Hid.E.Ous.

    • Naye in VA says:

the shoes suck but am i wrong for liking the jeans? i buy plain jeans from the thrift shop just so i can distress them the way i like. Of course her thighs kind of kill the point of the rips

    • Babalon says:

FWIW, I doubt he’s even aware that she responded to his first comment. His rebuttal took place within the context of an interview on the Today show or something.

Also, the entire outfit looks like something straight off the hot-mess-express to me. Yikes.

  7. Sue says:

Have never watched and don’t plan on watching any kardashian programs. I would rather watch MASH reruns upon reruns than this mind numbing garbage….. Team Hamm all the way!

  8. Zelda says:

Yeah, because we wouldn’t want to put any “energy” or “effort” into critical thinking and intellectual discussion abbout our society.

Ugh. Shut your vapid trap you clueless spray tan receptacle.

  9. paola says:

Exactly my thought! The difference is that we wouldn’t probably dare to say something so disrespectful towards people who work their ass off every day of the week for far less money!

  10. Samantha says:

Another round of applause for Jon Hamm for not being afraid to voice his opinion on this vile trash phenomenon that sadly, sections of society have succumbed to!Regarding Lindsay Lohan whom I’m NO fan of,at least she has ‘talent’ i.e acting,a characteristic that is non-existent (other than of course if producers are looking to cast a porn star then look no further!) in the land of KarTRASHians.

    • YuYa says:

Wouldn’t you say that Kim has just as much talent for making a segment of the population interested enough in her life that she has made millions upon millions of dollars? How is that less of an accomplishment?

I’m just seeing a massive double standard here. John Hamm didn’t move to hollywood to save the world, he moved there to become famous. Period.

  11. sup says:

the real question is, what are you working hard on? fameho

  12. dorothy says:

The most bizarre thing about this entire story; is the day after she made a statement regarding being a business women, etc.. , in response to Hamm she tweeted a picture of herself in her underwear, in bed, topless to the world!!!

Way to look like an intelligent businesswoman. What an idiot.

  13. Alexis says:

I disagree with the “and most of H-wood” addition. Being a serious actor (and even a silly one) is proper work. Being a reality star, on the other hand, seems like a lot less work. Heck, even being a proper working model seems like more work than what KK does (whatever that is).

  14. lisa says:

The Kardashians are ridiculous. I know my comment is not going to be popular. But why is Jon Hamm even talking about them. I will say that most REAL celebrities don’t give a rat’s ass about the Kardashians or the Jersey Shore people. He gave an interview to promote his movie and show. But the Kim quote got the attention. All he did was make her more in the news.

He should focus on his stuff. If they are as he says IDIOTS. The don’t talk about them. They are obviously on his radar. And that says something in itself

    • Hypocricy says:

To be fair he used them as an example among others, the first time he brought them.

I didn’t heard Paris, whose names was also brought, embarrassing herself answering his observations.

She has been the smartest one on this by staying quiet.

    • Dawn says:

Your right, Jon Hamm is better than the Kartrashian clan, he has real talent and a real education and I’m sure other than looking at this family from a purely sociological standpoint, he would not be thinking of them. However, he was asked a question and he answered said question. From there, the media such as it is, picks up on it and people like us end up responding to it. KK on the other hand should have been quiet, she knows like most of us with a brain know that she is NOT working hard, she merely shows up. She does nothing more than that. Remember she in her own words stated that her “talent” is making people fall in “love” with her. Prostitutes do the same thing; they just aren’t as well paid as KK, but should be as they have the same special “talent”. Well Kim love is a fickle feeling, it can be there one day and gone the next sometimes as fast as 72 days and we must hope that your special “talent” has dried up.

      • YuYa says:

lol..Hamm is cut from the same cloth. He is what he hates. Same people, I see nothing different. They’re both on TV, and pretending for a paycheck. How is Kim a whore and he is not? They are the same.

Because she is a woman, hell yeah…WHORE…He does the same thing, for a paycheck…he’s SOO smart!

Give me a break. They have the same job.

    • ZenB!tch says:

I would think they would be grateful for all these trashy peeps. They keep the paparazzi off real actors’ tails. JH is right in that it’s a “car crash” response and it is. Except unlike him, I enjoy my trainwrecks from a distance. I won’t watch their shows but since her name is splashed on the covers of the supermarket rags, I learn the names and come here to complain about them.

I was shocked at how stupid she sounded the first time I ever heard her speak.

  15. JenD says:

Her response to a dating question is she THINKS she’s still married?? She doesn’t know? Maybe she should STFU about Hamm and figure that out.

  16. jc126 says:

What is she working hard at?

Team Hamm all the way. And while he perhaps should ignore them, I think his annoyance with that ridiculous family must have reached epic proportions that he could no longer ignore.

  17. fabgrrl says:

Hard work? KK wouldn’t know hard work if it bit on her giant @ss.

  18. pamela says:

Personally I think Jon Hamm needs to STFU also. I am no fan of reality TV, never saw an episode of The Kardashians. but why did he feel the need to publicly call them “f*cking idiots”? It was totally uncalled for. I hate when celebs start believing their own press, and think they can then say anything about anyone.

    • YuYa says:

Agree completely. If he were so in love with his “craft” only for craft’s sake his ass wouldn’t have moved to hollywood, but wold have stayed in his small town and run the local theatre.

Dude wants to be famous just as much as Kim does. But she’s an easy target to prop himself and his ego up with.

    • Raven says:

But he wasn’t saying anything about anyone. He was concerned about the dreck and gave her and some others as examples. Oh, and I bet YuYa is waiting by her mailbox for that check from KK.

      • YuYa says:

Are you waiting on a check from Hamm? I don’t get it, it’s like I am talking to a bunch of Justin Bieder fans. He is no more legitimate than she is. He’s not.

Once again, in case you missed it the first 10 times I said it: I do not care for Kim K, never saw her show. BUT, I am tired of some stupid double standard in that industry. I bet people he respects are making money off of her! She is employing people, he is an employee. Who’s doing more for that industry?

Just because you don’t like her or her show, doesn’t mean that it negates the money she is making for a shit ton of people in hollywood. So, IMO, she’s doing more than he is. So he needs to just shut it.

Jesus. She’s popular for a reason, she’s made way more millions than Hamm ever hopes to see for a reason…people (NOT ME!) enjoy watching her.

Ergo: She is just as, if not MORE legitimate than he is. Bet her phone calls are answered much more quickly then his. So, he essentially has no pot to piss in.

    • vic says:

Agree. Why is he even bothering? Why does he care? This is what she does. This is why she’s famous and he’s feeding into it.

  19. Maya says:

Hamm needs to latch on to something in order to remain relevant. What else has he done apart from Mad Men? (in terms of versatility; where was he during the long hiatus of his show?).
Not only that, but I find it strange that three mediocre male actors have decided to bitch about Kim Kardashian. It’s not as though she has proclaimed that she is an actress. Three of the most mediocre actors, Daniel Craig, Jason Stratham and Jon Hamm have decided to effectively gang up.
And I’m not a Kardashian fan, far from it, but I don’t see the relevance. They are ‘actors’ and she is a reality TV product.
It seems they’re miffed that she is earning a bundle.

    • gillie says:

He was in The Town, playing an FBI agent.

      • YuYa says:

The Town was filmed over two years ago….

He’s also in an upcoming movie that his girlfriend wrote/directed/produced.

LOL, Ok. Seems his “talent” is taking hollywood by storm.

Look, I don’t really care about this guy one way or another. He just comes across as a big ole hypocrite.

    • NeNe says:

Freedom of speech allows us all to say whatever we want to say. Plus, it isn’t as if he is lying about what he is saying. I am pretty sure there are other actors who feel the same way, but are not speaking out. I do not believe they are miffed about her earnings, he is just speaking the truth.

      • pamela says:

You made the most important point….others may feel the same way,but choose NOT to say anything publicly. I hope he never finds himself in a PR pickle,or he may have to withstand others making nasty remarks about him in the media. If that happens,I hope he will take it as well as he dishes it out. Like someone else said, why didn’t he call out the “idiots” from Jackass?

    • lucy2 says:

Well, he was in a little movie called Bridesmaids last summer, has a new one coming out now, and did a bunch of television work in between too. Mostly comedy, which to me is pretty versatile considering how serious his role on Mad Men is.

      • YuYa says:

Really? I don’t remember him AT ALL in that movie which was filmed two years ago…What’s he done lately?

    • sup says:

he’s a talented actor. and i don’t even find him handsome or anything, but i saw the versatility of his work and if somebody really works hard, unlike the kartrashians working at their infamy, you have to admire them for it. and he’s not the only one annoyed by the kardassians. far from it. not that they deserve being mentioned by people who actually have talent for things worthwhile.

      • YuYa says:

Wouldn’t you say Kim has talent for keeping people interested in her life? How is that not a talent? No one wants to see a show about my life, do they want to see one about yours?

I am not a Kim K fan at all, but this bashing by c list “Actors” is hypocritical. They want what she has, fame and they are running after it just as hard as she is, she just happens to be better at it.

      • sup says:

@Yuya Really? You think that’s a talent? Go look for Speidi now, who had their 15 minutes not long ago. There is a huge difference between fame for talent and infamy for making an ass out of yourself.

  20. Faye says:

I can’t believe the number of people praising Jon Hamm for being right. I think he is coming off like a pompus ass. Hamm is a phony, acting as though he is surprised that his comments went beyond the pages of the Elle UK article. He knew full well that not many people would have been interested had he not thrown out some red meat in the form of mean spirited name calling. At the end of the day they are all in the same business, they pretend to be other people for money.

    • FrowninPabloDread says:

You and some of the other posters are missing the context of his quote. He is not saying he is a hard working actor vrs KK. He is correctly making a statement about how in the US society morons are celebrated heros. While those with intellect and substance take a back seat. Scripted reality shows with raging idiots are giving more attention than quality shows with substance.

Its not just him being better than kk-his argument is that to be considered important in this society you have to be a raving lunatic moron.

      • YuYa says:

Oh please! Just because the Kim K form of entertainment isn’t highbrow doesn’t make it any less entertaining than a show about mysogonists from the 1960’s.

People need to turn their brains off every once in awhile, what they watch while zoning out shouldn’t be judged. His show isn’t adding anymore to the general public much more than hers is. I don’t watch either, but I do have my guilty pleasures. If someone wants to judge me for that and call me a moron, more power to them. However, I found over 35 people employment this month. What’s John Hamm done to help his fellow people other than rake in a big paycheck and disparage a colleague? (Yes, a colleague…they are in the same industry!)

No one, and I mean no one is celebrating Kim K and some Hero. He’s gotta be on crack if that is what he intimated.

      • Faye says:

@ Frownin—I have missed nothing. If Jon Hamm wanted to simply make a point about the sad state of our culture and what we worship he could have done that without calling anyone out by name. That however would not have served his overall point which was to get as much publicity for the premier of his show as possible. To put it kindly, I agree that there is lots of crap on tv, starring lots of people who if I ran the world would not be role models. Jonn hamm could have made this same point without calling out Kardashian and Hilton. However, had he done that then no one would be talking about him or Mad Men.

      • FrowninPabloDread says:

Absolutely, I would not be on a gossip site commenting if I did not believe escapism is good. And no one is a moron for watching scripted reality tv shows. But I think its moronic someone gets paid and got paid to stage a fake wedding. Especially when there are people in love with each other who cannot.

You are making my point. Someone finding 35 people jobs deserves KK and PH money. Don’t you get frustrated with people struggling to find jobs and make ends meet. While dumb talentless celebrities have a crap ton of money for acting dumb.

Giving KK all this money is a way of celebrating her. She probably even has more money than Hamm who is using his creative talents to entertain us. Even if it is on a misogynist show. which by they way is actually a negative commentary on misogynists.

Life is not fair I get it. But we as consumers can sway it if we really try.

  21. Nev says:

she in a way is more popular than him…he doesn’t have to like it, and too bad.

sit down hamm.how come he ain’t knocking the jackass guys or any of the other reality shows that feature men? he’s a bully and should be quiet. he is kinda boring anyways. mad men ain’t all that.

he doesn’t have a “brand” like she does so he will never make that much money.

    get over it.

    • YuYa says:

Oh, he did it on purpose. Let’s bash the “empty” headed woman as opposed to the equally ridiculous male reality stars like the guys from Jersey Shore…Women are an easy target to get agreement on. Seems like his stint “acting” in Mad Men has influenced him more than he would probably admit.

The empty headed woman he’s bashing is worth over 100 million dollars. More than he will ever see. Just sayin…

    • Jonathan says:

I don’t know why he’s singling out Kim Kardashian. Those Jersey Shore losers truly have no talent yet the show keeps getting renewed. He is a crappy actor on a dumb show who needs to get over himself.

  22. CTgirl says:

    Dear Ms. Kim K.,

Respect is earned, not an automatic gimme. Grow up, get serious, and do something worthwhile. The only real surprise in this whole exchange is that someone didn’t say this about you sooner.

  23. Paula says:

It is disgusting to me that all these f–ked up stars, celebrities, musicians, sports, etc make millions of dollars and our teachers, nurses etc. make sh-t. You have to be really f–ked up to make money. You don’t really have to do anything either. You see them on covers and it is so disgusting, they are so fucked up but they are on covers of magazines. They are all DISGUSTING!!

  24. NeNe says:

What she does is not work? Unless, famewh*ring is on the books, and they take taxes out for it.

  25. BKiddo says:

I get the need to call these famewhores out, but in the end, it just keeps them more relevant. I mean, how many days has this story been going on for? KK has had her name linked to Hamm’s for what, almost a week now? So who’s the real winner in the end?

  26. lucy2 says:

No, Kim, no one HAS to respect you. You’ve done nothing to earn it.

I hope Hamm doesn’t respond anymore, because a famewhore like Kim likes any kind of attention, and this is just giving it to her.

    • Paula says:

      respect, is she kidding?

    • Marie Antoinette Jr. says:

Agreed. The fact that KK says that people “have” to respect her speaks to the very essence of her dysfunction: She has no sense of shame, no conscience, no concept of real accomplishment or right and wrong. She places value only on money and fame–so because she is rich and famous she assumes she can demand respect from others.

  27. Hoya_chick says:

Her cameltoe in those jeans is distracting. I actually like the out fit and it would look cute on a much thinner person. She looks like a stuffed sausage. Why are her clothes all ways to tight?! She has no style she and is a label whore (and a real one too) who wears trendy pieces irregardless of if they fit her size 2 (cough) frame. Oh look I have a Birkin in every color ergo I am stylish. Lol that’s not how it works KatFace.

Love the Hamm even though I don’t watch mad men. I agree 100% wih what he said.

  28. Twez says:

Hooker, please. “Working”? Hauling your oversized designer tote bag around Rodeo Drive is not “working.”

  29. Alexis says:

She’s a chunky butt slut. That is all.

  30. Paula says:

She is famous cause she had sex on a video!

  31. Annaloo says:

She keeps talking about remaining ‘positive’. She can’t possibly think that the image she is conveying is ‘positive’. If you put yourself out there as a public figure- esp one peddling trash – whaddya expect?

  32. decorative item says:

Respect is earned. So, no I don’t have to respect you.

And, the saying goes, “That it’s harder to say something nice than it is to say something nasty”.

  33. MorticiansDoItDeader says:

I’m no fan of the Kardashians, but it sounds as though the Hamm may be a little jealous of Kim’s “success.” While he came into the acting game pretty late, he chose the legitimate route; yet he still has less name recognition and is worth less than half of what Kim is worth. That HAS to be frustrating.

    • Emma says:

Oh yeah, he is so jealous. Because who wants to be a talented actor who is respected in the game and works on his craft when you can make a sex tape and whore yourself and make a lot of money. Saying that John Hamm could be jealous of KK is the funniest thing I’ve read today.

  34. decorative item says:

It sounds to me like an intelligent, well educated person making an observation on the state of “celebrity culture” in today’s society. Not everyone has the mentality of a 13 year old child. Jealous? Doubtful.

    • MorticiansDoItDeader says:

An intelligent, well educated individual would come up with a better observation than “they’re f-ucking idiots.”

      • Alice says:

Not necessarily…he just called a spade a spade.

      • FrowninPabloDread says:

Not really. I am a highly educated intelligent being and I say f***ing idiots in regards to people who are giant idiots.

      • Lindsey G. says:

I actually think that’s an accurate description for The Kardashians, Teen Mom, Jersey Shore, et al., set.

  35. HoustonGrl says:

How about you start by respecting yourself, dear. That will make it easier for others.

    • dorothy says:

Agree. Number 1: Stop posting pics of yourself half naked to a million people. It’s cheap and tacky.

  36. FOREVER says:

Haters much? 😱 you guys hate everyone Halle, Kim, angelina lighten up. What had she done to you personally. An idiot or not this woman has made millions from being a famewhore. You all watch her show otherwise how do you know so much about her, her ass is fake her face is fake, everything is fake but I still don’t hate her. On Hollyweird there is no such thing as bad publicity so as long as we keep talking about her she will stay relevant.

    • dahlia1947 says:

Yeah well I don’t like her cause she knows she’s fake yet she plays the public like dummies by saying that SHE’S NOT. She’s always denying that she’s had anything done. I also don’t like her because she’s a ho, she’s obnoxious, and she’s a b%6ch to her family.

How about responding to Snoop? Remember what HE said? About not being able to turn a ho into a housewife (part of his advice to Kris)? She knows he was telling the truth there, I guess.

  37. anonymoose says:

Each time she opens her mouth she emphasizes her lack of intelligence and common sense. She has the wit of strained peas.

Hamm is simply saying that the success of reality shows is a symptom of a culture which appreciates and rewards superficial vapidness and idiocy. I am mystified by the prevalence of the phenomenon. Our society celebrates the unspectacular spectacle.

  38. Emma says:

So she basically repeated her carefully worded statement written by her PR team. Just shut up and move on. She’s such an idiot to keep yapping about it. And she’d delirious if she thinks she deserves any, even a microbe sized amount of respect. Wow there really is no end in the tunnel of delusion.

  39. skipper says:

Honestly it is easier for me to trash people. It almost kills me to say something nice.

  40. Happy21 says:

He just said what most of us think. If we all went to a paper or magazine and said what we truly think of her, would she respond to each and every one of us.

I’m sure that Hamm is working hard at his show but I highly doubt that Kim is working hard to try to “brand” herself. Unfortunately she doesn’t have to do anything but be a narcissistic a-hole and the money comes rolling in.

However, I’m pretty sure that most of us here posting on Celebitchy work harder than both of them and get paid much less!

  41. k says:

When I think of hard work, I think of miners, construction workers, Chinese laborers in an Apple factory, school teachers who work 7am – 7 pm and stay up all night grading and creating lesson plans.

  42. boo says:

This waste of space, the Kuntrashians and their minions need to disappear for evah! I love the Hamm as an fyi.

  43. kc says:

Yuya – is that your nickname K* Kardashian? (joke!)

I will give KK props for having a team in place that knows how to pimp her out. I will give KK props for being able to exploit a form of “entertainment” (not just the sex tape). I am just embarrassed that there are enough t.v. viewers out there to justify their “reality” t.v. shows. C’mon people — if we don’t watch them, they will GO AWAY.

    • YuYa says:

No, LOL. In fact, I really don’t like her at all, but I do admire the fact that she built a 100 million dollar from a sex tape, and from what I heard…a boring one.

I am just tired of women being bashed left and right because they achieved their wealth in a different way. If it weren’t Kim it would have been someone else.

John Hamm is just as much of a famewhore as she is, he just thinks he’s “legitimate”. Please. He does the same thing! It’s entertainment, not rocket science.

      • MissyG says:

For a non-fan of Kantrashian, you’re really hardcore in defending her. Oh wait .. hello, Kim? Is that you? LOLOL

  44. kc says:

Last thing.. for now… my interpretation of HammGate is that he was lamenting a cultural phenomenum of “celebrating incuriousness” and used KK and PH as examples. I’m sure if he was asked to name more, he would cite the MALES as well. He did not make a diatribe against JUST KK — just the entertainment that allows her to be lucrative and profitable.

  45. Crystal says:

You’re famous for hanging around Paris Hilton, your father being OJ’s lawyer, and releasing (AND profiting) from being in a sex tape. You have NO talent other than being a fame whore.

    Translation: Hoe sit down.

  46. original kate says:

that this lazy twit can say with a straight face that is “working hard” is hilarious.

    • Happy21 says:

LOL we don’t know she says it with a straight face because she has tweeted her responses 😉

  47. Lindsey G. says:

I don’t see why we would have to respect KIm K., esp. since she banged her way to the middle…

  48. Holden says:

I guess I’m confused, what does she work on?

  49. Amanda G says:

Why does he have to respect her? From what I’ve seen there is not much to respect. And how is what she is doing hard work? She plays dress up all day in her free clothes and gets her picture taken. I suppose reading the script from her “reality” show might be hard for her though.

  50. dahlia1947 says:

She’s responding because OBVIOUSLY, his comments are helping her hold on to the last seconds of her 15minutes.. u know the rest.

I just wish these actors would shut up already and stop helping her along!!

She is really holding on to these precious few seconds. I see her knuckles turning white.

  51. Maritza says:

The truth is tv is full of reality shows, some good, some not so good and really awful ones. Kim spoke well, and I agree with her. Live and let live Hamm!

  52. the original bellaluna says:

She does realise that she’s not even remotely in the SAME UNIVERSE as the Hamm, correct?

Because yes, hookers and fame-whores work hard (on their backs and knees); but actors actually read scripts and memorise lines and perform on film and stage and stuff. They don’t just try to force Botox tears from their faces on the their “reality” shows when their faux marriage ends.

And kudos to Hamm, for calling a spade a spade.

  53. skuddles says:

Kim, maybe you should work on your self-respect instead?

  54. txdislyx says:

    She has a FUPA

    • skuddles says:

Okay I’m curious… what does FUPA mean? Think I get the FU part… not sure about the PA though 🙂

  55. Paula says:

    Size two my ass!

  56. Paula says:

Real people in REAL life work hard for their money and deserve our respect not that fake fat ass!

  57. Paula says:

Must have been hard work to make a sex tape and put it out there for everyone to see!

  58. YuYa says:

    sup says:
    March 21, 2012 at 2:05 pm
@Yuya Really? You think that’s a talent? Go look for Speidi now, who had their 15 minutes not long ago. There is a huge difference between fame for talent and infamy for making an ass out of yourself.”

YET AGAIN..I do not care about this woman, but, she is worth 100 times that the Hamm guy is. What does this say to you? It says to me that he’s talking out of his ass.

Yeah, I am real concerned about my “internet” presence. Hamm is so not “infamous” “famous world wide” or “someone to watch”…he’s a dude who’s on a show on a cable channel on Sunday nights….that needs to piggyback on “The Walking Dead” to get viewers anymore. Sure. The only person concerned about that show are the people “acting” in it. No one else really cares. Just like they don’t care about the kardashian circus. Not one is better than the other.

  59. Pat Dorty says:

I guess Ol’ Raj Jay was “working hard” when he peed on her huh?

  60. Cpm says:

Isn’t Jon Hamm just a cardboard cutout who reads words other people have written for him? The guy got lucky to land on a hit TV show so I guess that makes him qualified to dazzle us with his brilliance on cultural affairs.

  61. LegalEase says:

Ugh, I’m so tired of this fat bitch and her flared nostrils.

  62. LovenWorth says:

I understand what Hamm was saying but who is he? he doesn’t cure cancer, but I digress. I’m not a fan of Kim K. but I feel when you have people in the entertainment industry throwing stones as if acting is such a hard career choice. I find it a bit funny. Like Harvey said on TMZ,he’s just an actor himself.

  63. Kim says:

A pig who releases a sex tape to get famous & marries for a reality show does not garner respect at all.

  64. Sam says:

She is famous because she had sex on tape. That is the ONLY reason she is famous. The entire family exploites themselves for the sake of a buck. John Hamm is right. John Hamm shouldn’t back down, and Kim Khardashian needs to remember why she’s famous. Hookers in Hunter’s point work hard too, but they aren’t going to go comparing themselves to an extremely talented and respected actor. Throw thousand dollar shoes and a gucci on it, no less a whore does it make.

  65. Loulou says:

Is it me or she’s had to have ribs removed to attain any semblance of a waistline? Otherwise, it just doesn’t organically balance out. Then again, her crazy mother could have done like with the tribe in Africa where women have rungs put on their necks so they grown elongated, Kris Jenner might have put her in a waspie when her bones were still forming?

  66. SantaRosa says:

    I really don’t know this guy’s work at all, and I wish I didn’t know Kim’s, but it’s everywhere.

I think she’s the one who is backpedaling. I think she knows that Hamm is the more credible of the two, which is why it’s suddenly about being POSITIVE. I think that’s a defense mechanism, not a sign of an elightened soul. She can only lose points if she keeps up her fight. And hell NO, no one NEEDS to respect her or anyone else, especially when it’s because of her “hard work.”

And just because you run a business that makes a lot of money- we should respect you? I don’t respect Hugh Hefner, and I think less of people who do.

And sure, there are different strokes for different folks, as Hamm said and someone else here implied when that someone said:

“Same with scripted entertainment and “reality” entertainment. Someone who watches one over the other (IE MAD MEN) isn’t more intelligent than the other, they just like different things.”

Frankly, I think one’s tastes often DO reflect one’s intelligence and education. And if not those things, then certainly their values and priorities.

If you prefer Kim’s show to a show with some critical acclaim, then it may be because you’re less intelligent or educated. Or you’re simply intellectually lazy. I have become the latter, which is why I’m writing this shit right now instead of reading my latest issue of The New Yorker, lol. I am perfectly worthy of criticism for this.

  67. Debsagrrl says:

Enjoy it while it lasts Kim, your fifteen minutes have started to expire….

    • jc126 says:

I so, SO hope you are right.

I think people were VERY turned off with that phony wedding and that there has been some backlash. I just want them all to go away.

  68. kat says:

    Isn’t her & her family’s 15 minutes up YET? She’s so gross . . .

  69. Harleyhoney says:

For the princess of piss to think she is equal to any real talent in H- wood is ridiculous ,and then she is asking for respect ..obviously she has yet to understand you earn respect and not fcuk your way to the top ..glorified groupie!!!

  70. Helen says:

I really think she’s preparing for a stink as a weight watchers spokeswoman, if they would have her. Obviously the other diet and weight loss products don’t work, but why not try again? I’d have some respect for her if she covered a magazine stating that she was stressed out and gaining weight, not this victorious, single, put-together image that she projects that is so far from reality.

  71. rustytrawler says:

No, actually we don’t have to respect you.

  72. Viv says:

Oh, please. Leave the Hamm alone. Even actors may say what they think sometimes. Acting is an accepted profession as we, the public want to see movies and TV shows and plays. We benefit from underpaid actors just as much as we do from overpaid ones. Thousands of producers, camera men and other people working on films and plays agree. I am not so sure we need reality stars doing nothing. If KK wants me to respect her “hard work” she should do something that resembles work, even if it was a porn career.

  73. Paula says:

    She needs her brain liposucked!
