Shortly after the Oscars, LaineyGossip had an exclusive about Michelle Williams and Jason Segel. Allegedly, they were spotted out on a date, looking friendly and flirty at the Marmont. Now, Michelle spent the entire awards season ensconced in her second virginity, seemingly too fragile, too delicate, too vulnerable to allow another man into her life after Heath Ledger (you know, except for all of the boyfriends she had after Heath). While I thought the Michelle-Jason pairing was interesting, I didn’t really buy that they were a real love-match or anything. But I was wrong! Us Weekly has new, exclusive photos of Michelle, Jason and Matilda hanging out together, and they look… like a happy family?
No more blue Valentines for Michelle Williams! The demure three-time Oscar nominee, 31, has fallen for longtime pal Jason Segel, a source confirms exclusively to Us Weekly.
“They are smitten and very serious,” the source says of the My Week With Marilyn star and Segel, 32. (The actress split from Heath Ledger five months before his death in 2008.)
The unexpected new couple was photographed taking a romantic stroll after a meal at Frankie’s Spuntino in Brooklyn March 24. “He put his arm around her and made her laugh as they walked,” says a witness. “[They] seemed very relaxed.”
The next day, How I Met Your Mother star Segel was snapped bonding with Matilda, Williams’ 6-year-old daughter, as she went for a ride on her scooter.
Friends for years through Williams’ BFF and Segel’s Freaks and Geeks costar Busy Philipps, their relationship only recently turned romantic.
They dined (and giggled) at L.A.’s Chateau Marmont Feb. 27, and then shared supper at West Hollywood’s Comme Ca March 16.
Although they live on different coasts, the Brooklyn-based actress and L.A. denizen are “trying to make it work,” the source says. “She hasn’t been this happy in a long time.”
I didn’t realize that Michelle and Jason have probably known each other for years. That makes it better, I think. Acquaintances first, sharing a mutual friend (Busy), then becoming friends, and then starting to date. That’s nice. And it makes sense as to why Michelle is already letting Jason spend time with Matilda – Matilda probably already met Jason when Jason and Michelle were simply friends.
Still, I do have some slight concerns. From what I know about Jason Segel, he’s a talented writer and comedic actor, but he also has a taste for some of the trashier elements in Hollywood. Like, I believe he hooked up with Lindsay Lohan a few years ago. Gross. Of course, Heath Ledger did too.

PERFECT!!! I am enamored with Jason, since FandG, through HIMYM and fell totally hard after Forgetting Sarah Marshall. My love for him multiplied and grew after he single handedly brought THE MUPPETS back last year. Hats off! While I burped layers of disgust seeing him walking with La Lohan those nights, I forgave him for it because he seems okay.
I would gladly endorse this couple and would like very much for it to be true. He is one of the rarities in Hollywood, and I think he could be very stable and good for Michelle and ALSO make her giggle and laugh a lot. Well done kids!!

I really like Jason. I used to really love Michelle too, but now she’s kind of odd. I wish them the best, they look good together. She’s cute, but something is sort of awkward and off about her. Same with her co-star in BV, Ryan Gosling. I think they must have done some freaky sh*t during the filming of that movie. It’s unsettling, I can’t put my finger on it.

For BV, those two actually lived in the house they filmed the movie in, during the months leading to actual filming. They said they did this to get a real feel for living together so they could be in character. I think bc of that, they were temporarily infatuated with each other. I just found that to be pretty interesting.

That whole situation was weird. During promotion, Ryan kept looking at her like he wanted to rape her or something. She looked legit scared of him and uncomfortable. She’s been kind of “off” since. I really wonder what kind of stuff went down during living in that house together. Kind of creepy, actually.
That said, I think Jason is good for her. He seems like a great guy with a good sense of humour. She needs some lightness and some laughter after being in such heavy situations.

Sorry. I like Jason Segel in movies, but he seems a bit “off” to me in real life. Yes, Michelle can bit precious on occasion, but Jason is off. He’s not someone I would want around my daughter, either. I’m sure he is a real affectionate, loveable “incle” type…It’s just a vibe I get.

Oh man, Jason is on my list of men my husband would let me leave him for, lol. He’s just such a genuine guy, and he loves the Muppets! Plus his Dracula puppet musical is the beeeeest.
And as much as Michelle’s second virginity act annoys me, she’s committed to her daughter and she seems like she’d be a good friend. So I hope this works out for them! So happy, lol.

As long as he makes her *genuinely* smile instead of sporting that weird, fake, creepy smile she had for most of this year’s award season (ex. the pic above taken at the Independent Spirit Awards), I’m all for them being together.

I’m surprised Jason is only 32. He’s got the puffy, unhealthy look of a much older man, like Gerald Butler minus the good body.
Seems to me that Michelle could do better. Besides which, he’s been inside Lindsay Lohan. Blech. Hopefully, that was limited to sex without drugs because the last thing Michelle needs is more of that drama.

She has a movie with Seth Rogen coming out. Actually it premieres at TriBeca in April and Jason also has a movie premiering at Tribeca. But no movie together.
