Emily Blunt & Ewan McGregor at London premiere: who would you rather?

In March, I covered the LA premiere of Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, that cute looking film starring Ewan McGregor as a salmon-fishing expert and Emily Blunt as some kind of PR maven. The premise looks interesting, and it’s on my “definitely rent” list. These are photos from last night’s London premiere.

Let’s discuss Ewan McGregor first. Okay, I love the man. He’s gorgeous and sexy and he can wear the hell out of nearly any outfit. That being said, I hate his mid-life crisis hoop earring. And I’m getting tired of his scarves. We get it, Ewan. You love a man-scarf. ENOUGH. And while I’m speaking directly to you, Ewan, please stop with the fancy lift sneakers. We know you’re kind of short. We would still hit it, even if you’re wee. Just own your height without getting all Tom Cruise on us.

As for Emily, she wore this odd Carolina Herrera Fall 2012 cocktail dress. I’m including a photo of Emily from behind, just because I want you to see the funky front-to-back effect of the cropped jacket. Is that the way it’s meant to be worn? Or did Emily put the jacket on backwards? As for the ribbony stripes – pretty. I’m pretty apathetic towards horizontal stripes, but the muted navy-and-black palette works and it’s a sophisticated look, backwards jacket included. I feel like Emily is unsure about what to do with her hair, right? Right.

Emily looks classy and gorgeous, as usual. I always feel she’s like a breath of fresh air – there’s something different about her.

  2. Astrid says:

I’ll wait for Ewan to finish his midlife crisis and then take him back. The dress has issues.

Really? I really like the dress. But I’m seriously over those slut red-bottomed heels. Just cheapens a sophisticated looking outfit

  3. Bite me says:

I like Emily and Ewan is dead drop gorgeous

  4. Neelyo says:

I love Emily Blunt. I just watched THE ADJUSTMENT BUREAU and she was so charming in that film. I’ve loved her in everything I’ve seen her do. She’s got the goods!

Not sure if you have seen ‘Wild Target’ with Emily, Bill Nighy and Rupret Grint. Its great – you would love it if you love Emily.

    emily blunt!

i’m so late in the blunt-bandwagon game, but i “fell in love” with her when she did her “fingerflick-point” at anne’s character, andrea, in DWP. that scene, i played again and again and again on loop if i could. (it’s one of my most favorite scenes, together with the Edna Mode scenes from the Incredibles).

not a word was spoken in that frame in that particular scene, but such a loaded gesture full of seniority-induced imperiousness.

    LOVE HER.

    Ewan love love love.

  7. Franny says:

hahhaha his shoes are AWFUL! what are those?!

  8. Agnes says:

maybe he’s a pirate – ergo the ear ring.

and i think the jacket is on correctly – the black stripes where the opening is align with the black stripes on her dress.

  9. k says:

C’mon. Guys from the UK love Fluevog-ish shoes. Maybe the lift was a bonus.

I like both of them a lot, I’ll have to watch this movie at some point.
Emily looks really pretty. I haven’t liked Carolina Herrera’s stuff in a while, but I actually don’t mind that dress.

Ewan even with his skinny scarves. I don’t mind that he is walking around like a metro-sexual pirate who somehow time-traveled to the 1980s. He still has a wonderful unaffected air about him and I like it alot.

Emily is cute and I thought she looked like Jennifer Lawrence with darker hair in the first photo but that dress is ugly. The shoes are awesome.

  12. Nakli says:

Ewan, any day. With or without the hoop earring. He’s gorgeous! I prefer however the Obi-Wan Kenobi style beard on him than the one he has now.

  13. Ravensdaughter says:

    Ewan—meooowww.
    Emily-a very attractive woman.
My sister said the movie was great, and she’s fussy.

  14. T.C. says:

    Dear Ewan,
Call me. Day or night with your fine self. That is all.

  15. Reece says:

That’s the way it’s supposed to be worn. I like it very pretty and sophisticated.
(Big word use of the week done!)

Ooohhh, Ewan has on space booties. HAHAHA I still love him.

  16. NYC_girl says:

Ewan… I love you. I will overlook the fact that you’re wearing creeps, which were the popular shoes when I was in high school.

Seriously, that movie was cute. He is so hot in it, it’s really worth seeing him on a big screen.

  17. SFRowGuy says:

What a question. Emily, everyone, please leave the room, Ewan and I have some things we need to “discuss”.

  18. Jen34 says:

Ewan is in need of a make over, but I’d take him anyway, anywhere, anytime.

  19. It is ME!! says:

    Love ’em both!!

  20. shanshan says:

FOR THE RECORD: The earring is for an HBO series that Ewan has been filming recently and NOT from a ‘mid-life crisis.’

  21. Kate says:

The jacket is definitely the right way round.

Ewan, Ewan, and Ewan.. He looks like pure fun.. especially if you add a few drinks in the mix.
