Anna Paquin just announced that she’s expecting her first child with her husband of almost two years, Stephen Moyer. I know these two have been married for a while, but this announcement surprised me. They just seem like the type of couple who is content without children. Plus they’re often seen out with Moyer’s children. He has a 10 year-old daughter from his last relationship and a 12 year-old son from another relationship. Maybe I’m confusing these two with their True Blood characters, though. Here’s their announcement, which was in Entertainment Weekly.
True Blood costars Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer are expecting, their reps confirmed to EW today. The pregnancy is Paquin’s first; Moyer, 42, has two children from previous relationships. Paquin, 29, is due this fall. The couple were married in Malibu, Calif., in 2010 after meeting on the set of True Blood ‘s pilot season in 2007. Paquin is the second-youngest Oscar winner of all time, taking home the gold man for The Piano when she was just 11.
Paquin and Moyer will return to play Sookie and Bill as True Blood returns for its fifth season on HBO June 10.

Kaiser reminded me about this story from Star in 2009 that claimed that Anna wanted to get pregnant after she first got engaged and that she had “already talked to the producers about working around her if she gets pregnant.” Who knows if that was true back then, though. Stephen also very curtly addressed the issue last year of expanding his family with Anna. He said “We are busy at the moment, but it will happen at some point.”
I like that they went with EW to announce Anna’s pregnancy instead of People or US. It seems more fitting since they don’t court the celebrity press. This has me wondering how far they are in filming this season of “True Blood” and if producers will have to work around Anna’s pregnancy for the later episodes. I doubt they’ll have a Twilight-style hybrid baby on the show, or even some kind of werewolf offspring. They’ll probably just creatively film it so we don’t see Anna’s midsection. Just two more months until TB premieres!

CB: True Blood is actually in its 5th season. I’m pretty sure they started filming last fall and if Anna is due this fall, they shouldn’t have to hide the bump.
Though I’m firmly in the Sookie/Eric camp, I adore Stephen and Anna and am thrilled for them!!!

Kind of surprised, would have figured they’d wait another year or two until the show wraps up (I’m guessing it’s going to be 6 seasons), but congrats to them! They seem very happy together, wish them the best.
They are the popular guess re: the blinds about married/coworkers where the wife is bisexual and they like to bring the ladies home for threesomes. I don’t think they are the “conventional” married couple and I’ve never had a good feeling about the marriage lasting. Him being on his third marriage, and baby’s mother, and both of them seeking outside sexual gratification. I can see this baby interrupting their carefree lifestyle. Best of luck to them though.
I had read before that Anna is bi but I am still kinda disappointed in them if they are the couple in this blind. I would have liked to think of them as being more perfectly suited to each other, I suppose. Anyway, I am Truebie and am team Eric all the way. If they do have the pregnancy involved in True Blood, guess it will have to be Alcide’s baby or perhaps a fae baby, because vamps don’t reproduce.
Even if that blind item *is* about them, why is that a terrible thing? Consenting adults bringing in a ‘guest partner’ or something for fun-times is their own business, and doesn’t mean their relationship is weak. Indeed it kind of shows some bravery and trust. I do agree, obviously, that a baby will badly cramp their style – as it would most parents’ sex-lives.

I agree that blind was written about them, but who knows if it’s true or just a thinly veiled rumor. And I think she’s spoken openly about being bi.
@Redd, I like the Eric/Sookie dynamic too. The strangest part of the Bill/Sookie storyline was their lack of chemistry. For two people so madly in love it didn’t really come across in the show. I also agree about the marriage aspect. If you need to spice things up in the bedroom less than two years in, I can’t see them being in it for the long haul.
@Lucy2, that’s why I think it’s definitely them. She confirmed her bisexuality, and how many married/costars are there where the wife is bisexual? And you’re right 2 baby’s moms (anna will make 3) and Anna is his first wife. These things still say commitment issues to me.

I don’t think he needs a pass. His kids are 10 and 12 years old. That is a pretty long time in between procreating! It isn’t like he has been constantly making babies for the last 15 years. 10 years is a big break.
True. Ten years is a long time. But two years isn’t…those first two were with two different women. I’ll be real honest – I’m just nitpicking because I’m not a fan of his horrible attempt at a southern accent. His acting’s alright, but that accent is like nails on a chalkboard! Bless his heart…
He’s taking care of his kids and him and Anna seem genuinely happy as a couple. I see no need for things to get blown out of proportions here.

WOW – Now this totally surprised me! Just checking CB now and did not expect to see this. How are they going to film around a pregnancy on TB of all shows?
They’re starting on Episode 8 or nine now, so only 3-4 to go. I’m presuming that TB will figure out some way to hide what bump she may have. And then she’ll probably have about 6 to 8 weeks post baby before TB starts filming again late November/early December.
They seem like such a sweet couple. I’m happy for them.
