Is Drew Barrymore planning a June wedding, and expecting a daughter?

I mentioned one of these stories in the links yesterday, calling it “Is everybody kind of over Drew Barrymore?” It’s true – for various reasons, everybody really stopped caring about Drew Barrymore over the course of the past year. I think it’s partly on Drew – she seemed to consciously take a step back from the glitzier, more attention-grabbing Hollywood scene and she began dating Will Kopelman, who isn’t really part of the Hollywood scene either. Well, since we last discussed Drew, a lot has happened. First, everyone is now in agreement that she’s pregnant. She hasn’t denied it, but she hasn’t confirmed it either. So what else?

Well, Life & Style claims that Drew, 37, is expecting a daughter. A source “close to Drew” says: “She’s having a girl… She’s so excited.” Aw… she’ll be good with a daughter. Life & Style also was became the first publication to announce the alleged wedding date for Drew and Will. They announced their engagement shortly before all of the pregnancy rumors sprang up, and from what I’ve heard, Will is Jewish and Drew is converting for him. So maybe the conversion is complete, because L&S has the wedding date set at June 2nd! They also say the wedding will be at Drew’s Montecito home. I thought these stories might have the whiff of BS, but Us Weekly is saying the same thing in this week’s issue:

Drew’s bride-to-be bliss! Engaged and expecting her first child, Drew Barrymore couldn’t be more happy to head into summer with her fiance Will Kopelman, 34, by her side.

“She is so thrilled to be expecting,” a source tells the new Us Weekly of Barrymore, 37. As she prepares for impending motherhood, the star is also just as hard at work planning her June walk down the aisle.

The new issue of Us Weekly (out Friday) reveals that Barrymore has already crossed off two key to-do’s from her list: The venue and her all-important dress!

According to a source, the mom-to-be will don Chanel for her ceremony, to be held at her Montecito, Calif., home.

Barrymore — who began dating in January 2011 and accepted Kopelman’s proposal a year later — is in full-tilt wedding planning mode.

The actress “is really focused on the wedding right now,” says the friend. “She will be even more excited about the baby after that!”

[From Us Weekly]

I’m genuinely happy for Drew… and for Will too, I guess. He does look an awful lot like Eric Johnson (Jessica Simpson’s baby-daddy), right? Still, I have higher hopes for this marriage than I had for some of Drew’s previous relationships. She seems to have grown more mature with Will – she seems more “ladylike” and “establishment” all of a sudden. I hope it’s not just one of Drew’s phases. Whatever happens with the marriage, I do think she’ll be a great hippie mom, though. That’ll take.

Good for Drew. It is nice to see her happy. I have a special place in my head for her, always have. She is only a few years younger than I am, and I have this fantasy that we have a lot in common. I also think it is nice that she isn’t “out there” all over the place, but shows up once in a while.

Happy for Drew and hubby to be.

Yeah, they seem like a great couple, he seems to be a nice guy. Good for her. Wish them the best.

  4. another nina says:

Well, Will Kopelman might look like Eric Johnson but he is definitely not a free loader, right? His father is former CEO of Channel plus Will went to the school with Gwyneth, etc. Anyway, an interesting family for a hippie to be married in…But I’m very happy for Drew – she seems to be one of the genuinely good people in Hollywood

Is Drew even pregnant? I don’t think she’s confirmed it. She’s never been very thin and usually wears loose clothing so it hard to tell.

  6. brin says:

He does look a little like Eric Johnson (at least he has a job tho). He’s a big improvement over Tom Green.

  7. Jessica says:

I was wondering when this was going to be addressed!!! lol

  8. Bite me aka aniston says:

Am sure she will be a good mom and not a stage mother like her own mother was… Anyway this union won’t last

  9. Cathy says:

Well, whether she’s pregnant or not, I wish them happiness in their marriage. That is if they are getting married, who can believe these tabs, they’ll make up anything to sell papers.

  10. mln76 says:

She seems really low key and happy no over the top PDA like her previous relationships. They look comfortable together so fingers crossed it works.

  11. cupidityrox says:

I’m so glad for her. After all she’s been through it’s good to see her in such a good place. U go Drew!!

  12. shontay says:

I’m happy for her. Hope this relationship sticks and I think she’ll be a cool mom. She’s been through a lot and I think that experience will help.

As for her career, I wish she’d do more Grey Gardens and less Going the Distance or whatever the crap was called.

    • mln76 says:

You know I watched Going the Distance on cable and it didn’t suck. I’m not saying it was brilliant but I think it was probably a lot better than say Killers, or The Bounty Hunter. I just think the rom-com genre is totally played out.
And yes Grey Gardens was brilliant.

  13. skipper says:

    I’m surprised she’s not fatter.

  14. lafairy says:

happy for her and this is a nice and fresh looking 37! I want to age like this!!

  15. Aqua says:

You know what they say the third time is the charm.Anyways no matter how long this will last,I wish them nothing but the best.

  16. Lea says:

It’s funny because she comes from such a WASP family and you know some of those people (NOT Drew) were anti-semitic or just didn’t know many Jewish people. It was such a different time. I mean, what would the great Ethel Barrymore think? Or what would John Barrymore (her great great granfather)think? And do conservative Jewish people accept converts?

I’m sure they will have their challenges but they seem so well matched. Like everyone says…fingers crossed.

    • Gene Parmesan says:

omg omg when you said “Ethel Barrymore” it reminded me so much of Gene Kelly’s Don Lockwood saying it..
I <3 singing in the rain

  17. I Choose Me says:

I’m not over Drew and I really hope she finds lasting love with Will. And if she’s really pregnant well then Mazeltov! I think she’ll make a great mom. 🙂

  18. Happy21 says:

I’m over her only cause I’ve never really been “on her”. She is sweet but in an irritating kind of way. I do admire all that she has been through in her life and am happy for her that she has come out on top.

I had a feeling before all these pregnancy rumours were swirling that the reason we hadn’t seen much of her and she had kind of taken a step back from the Hollywood scene because she had slipped back into the drinking/partying thing and removed herself so that she could get her head straight again. It wouldn’t surprise me. She did get clean at such a young age that it would be hard as you get older to think that you will always be an addict and always need to stay away from the shit because you will become hooked.

  19. Zigggy says:

I’d never convert for anyone. And I’m not even religious! That’s just me though- I’d be pretty bitter if someone wouldn’t marry me UNLESS I converted.

  20. Moooooooo says:

Wedding is the last weekend of June, not the first.

And the kopelmans may be conservative Jews, but they are craaaaaaazy. will is relatively straight but his sister is nuts. Drew will fit right in.

  21. Lindy says:

You know, I have always loved her. She has always come across as charming and smart and kind, and kind of a cheerleader for women and young girls. She never seems pretentious or bitchy or catty. And she’s a pretty great actress in many of her films. She’ll probably be a great mom, and I hope she’ll find a way to balance working and being a parent, because I still like seeing her movies.

My only complaint is that I feel like she should have ended up with Justin Long. They just seemed perfect for each other, and I don’t know who this dude is, but he’s kind of meh looking. And having to convert for someone… Never in a million years would I do that.
