And yes, all of Octo-loon's autistic/mentally disabled children qualify. They probably also get tuition assistance; it's pretty much the norm (in Cali, the only kids that get bussed to school are the disabled ones or the ones with parents who make enough to pay for the annual bus pass - the high schools in our old county didn't even offer busses to students). Good luck to your friend - I've known folks who it has taken YEARS to get approved for SSI, involved attorneys, and was generally just a GF. I hope she makes it through her surgery and becomes whole again. I think that’s SSI. And yes, all of Octo-loon’s autistic/mentally disabled children qualify.

And if I'm not mistaken, you mentioned you're in SoCali (where we used to live) and it ain't cheap! We ended up cashing out hubs' 401K to pay rent and re-locate to Podunk Nowhere, NoCali.
