Does Ryan Reynolds want to annul his marriage to Scarlett Johansson?

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds’s romance doesn’t seem to be slowing down any time soon. They’re still together, still very much loved-up, still vacationing and mini-breaking in WASP enclaves and great jazz towns. At this point, I kind of think it’s inevitable that they’ll get engaged. Will they ever marry? I don’t know. But I see an engagement ring in Blake’s future. Not a huge rock – that’s not Ryan’s style. Sometimes substantial and pretty, from Tiffany’s perhaps, or a nice estate piece. Last week, the tabloids were even suggesting that Blake and Ryan would marry this summer (in the Hamptons!). I don’t know… my gut says no summer wedding. At least not this summer.

So, while Blake and Ryan are humming along, there is this little matter: does the perfect couple ever think about the ones who came before? Does Ryan ever worry about Leonardo DiCaprio or (LOL) Penn Badgley? Does Blake ever worry about Scarlett Johansson? The tabloids keep trying to make ScarJo-Ryan-Blake into the next Bermuda Triangle, but it’s just not sticking. Maybe this will work: an annulment!

Scarlett who? Ryan Reynolds is ready to propose to Blake Lively – he’s even bought a diamond, an insider reveals. But first he wants to wipe the record clean and annul his marriage to Scarlett Johansson before he puts a ring on it.

“He wants a church wedding,” the insider says. Hopefully, this one will last a lifetime!

[From In Touch Weekly, print edition]

Very few details were ever revealed about Ryan and Scar’s wedding, but from the sound of it, it’s not like they even got married in a church, nevermind THE church. They got married at a Vancouver Island resort. They went fishing and camping. It wasn’t super-churchy. So… if you weren’t even married IN the church, can you still ask for an annulment? So… yeah… Gossip Cop’s unnamed source says it’s not true too. But I’m fascinated by how this story even came to be. I have a theory – Blake Lively wants to pretend that if she and Ryan get married, it will be the first go-around for both of them. She wants some kind of acknowledgement that Scarlett is totally out of Ryan’s life. She wants to think that Ryan doesn’t just propose to the first big-boobed blonde he comes across.

I like Blake, but she is giving off the vibe of so desperately needing to be married. Don’t get me wrong I do wish her the best, as I suspect she is at heart an old-fashioned girl and deserves to have her happiness.

    • T.C. says:

Old fashion girl? Try talentless hack looking for security from a man with money. Her time as the it girl is coming to an end she needs someone to maintain her lifestyle.

      • sarko says:

        Bulls**t to the infinite.

The debacle/irony over the whole Bitter Pill casting was the fact that both Blake and Rooney come from wealthy families.
Both having family states/homes in the West Coast, East Coast and the South
I doubt she needs Ryan who is a B-lister at best to maintain her lifestyle. She’s probably richer then he is!

If she wanted to go after an opulent life. She could have done the deal like Leo’s other g-friends and agreed to be the public slam piece while he cheats left and right, which is what he did with the other girlfriends who prob needed green cards.

I doubt a 24 year old who still hits best dressed lists (UK and US), cute list( I know, I know her, her publicist forced them into it….. whateva) is at an end. Your word that shes a has-been is simply a rallying call for her haters who cant stop reading on her.
        But keep the hope alive!

I do agree with Marjalane (below) that Ryan in his 30s and her still in her early 20s are mistaken in thinking they want the same things.
This won’t end well in the long run JMO

      • Amanda_M87 says:

That sounds more like it to me too. I don’t buy the old-fashioned girl thing.

      • merc says:

I don’t believe Blake comes from a wealthy family, but I don’t believe she’s hurting for money, either.

Other than that, I tend to agree with sarko. She’s passed on opportunities to cash in before.

As for relationship with Reynolds, only time will tell but they seem to like spending time together.

      • Cletus says:

AMEN. Also, Blake Lively can go straight to hell.

  2. helvetica says:

Unless he/she was drunk, or being gravely lied to, he’s not gonna get annulment. Ridiculous

I dont know why i always get weird feeling between Blake and Scarlett.
In just media at least, it’s like Scarlett is painted negative jealous one, and Blake always glowing. Just read Lainey or UsWeekly, it’s almost like designed by Blake’s publicist

Oh, Scarlett might not be a good actress, but she’s way better than Blake

    • Julie says:

“Just read Lainey or UsWeekly, it’s designed by Blake’s publicist ”

      i corrected it for you.

    • merc says:

What about when In Touch and The Star were running consistently negative stories about Blake? Was Scarlett behind those?

Us Weekly was writing negative stories about Scarlett long before Blake started dating her ex, In Touch has been the source for most of the negative stories about Blake, Reynold’s rep issued a denial to this story, and In Touch remains one of the least reliable sources.

      • NotaBitterBetty says:

Far too much common sense I’m afraid Merc. Doesn’t really wash around here.

    • the original bellaluna says:

Yeah, I don’t think the idiots writing this stuff realise that there are actual requirements for filing for/being granted an annulment.

      Research, rag-mags, research.

  3. Tillie says:

I would have gone after Leonardo. Such a shame that I’m not close to being a model..

  4. Marjalane says:

This relationship makes me sad; I think Ryan Reynolds is mid 30’s and looking for a stable family, kids, a “wife”, and Blake is what, 23-24? and wants to be a “star”. A big star. They might get married, but it’ll only last until Blake finds someone with a better looking future.

    • sarko says:

      Agreed.
I don’t wish ill on people but I feel this is very much honeymoon stage. I wonder what happens when they have to spend time apart, no couple can live in each others pockets 24/7 sans getting sick of each other down the road.
Unless she is intent on being the housewife while Ryan makes films. Dunno

Lainey’s obsession with Blake still remains untreated. Hell, homegirl has been missing from the radar for aeons but Lainey now has to resort to using twitter to write up on ‘boring’ Blake.
Is there anyone else she writes on based on twitter sightings or pics?
      Guess she need the hits/moolah!

      • merc says:

For what it’s worth, I think based on her comments in interviews that she wants a career and a family.

      • Relli says:

        YES, Totally!

Look i like Lainey’s site a lot she has good perspective and ever since she gave Sasha her own little column, even better. But her insistence on making this Blake thing happen and stick is kind of weird and the writing makes it obvious that her heart isn’t really in it (publicist speak cough, cough)

It reminds me of this time that i was in this musical in high school (west side story) and everyone kept complimenting the lead actress on how much she looked just like Natalie Wood. She totally did not but I soon realized that it was just girl sh!t and thats how it rolls.

      • merc says:

The main perspective Lainey offers is into what it is to be a gossip blogger who has to come up with fresh meat every day to generate interest in her site and herself.

When even people who find Blake “so boring” feel compelled to read or comment, you can guarantee Lainey and others will keep writing about her.

      • Relli says:

@merc … by perspective I meant I like her writing and opinions… even if i don’t agree. Which, is the same reason I come to CB.

But the Blake bits/posts are awkward and fluffy (on Lainey) and dont contain her usual bite. I don’t know something is off about them, her voice/opinion seems forced and that is what i don’t care for.

For what its worth I have been claiming Blake is the nest Jennifer Aniston since she hit the scene in GG.

      • merc says:

Relli, I beg to differ. Lainey’s is only interested in “making Blake happen” as gossip fodder. That’s in Lainey’s self interest, not Blake’s. Saying Blake has “game” and is “good for gossip,” or “boring” when she’s not gossip worthy, are not compliments.

    • littlestar says:

In her most recent posts on Blake, Lainey has said that Blake is losing whatever made her interesting when she was with Leo. At first she said Blake had game cuz of the whole debacle of dumping Leo, and moving onto Ryan, but Lainey has stated several times that Blake is becoming BORING.

Sorry, gotta support Lainey, love her site and have been reading her from way back in the day when she didn’t even have a site, but emailed everyone her gossip stuff :).

  5. Roma says:

    Baxter!!

    • NotSoAnonymous says:

      ^^^ this!

Baxter is the CUTEST celebrity doggie!!! I’d read a whole post of great Baxter pics!

  6. Mitch Buchanan Rocks says:

They say people do look like their dogs, but Baxter is cuter.

  7. sallyreo says:

IMO, as a couple, they come across as boring, the combination of them two together does nothing for their careers.
As for her coming from a wealthy family,
just look at her high school pictures, that should tell you something. I do think that they were friends before they became lovers and they get along.
I think Ryan will get tired of the same old, same old and eventually leave. Example: Alanis. With Scarjo, she was a trophy, once he got it, he got tired of it.

    • NotaBitterBetty says:

Why do you think Ryan will get tired of the “same old, same old”? What about him gives you this impression? A broken engagement after five years? A broken marriage even though his ex-wife pretty much admitted she was the architect of that particular demise? God help the rest of us if a few failed relationships means we’re never going to settle down and be happy with one person.

    • sallyreo says:

Just look at the divorce rate. I am sure it is even higher in Hollywood.

  8. gg says:

I will never understand annulments in this day and age. Every one I’ve ever known about has everything to do with denial, and some of them have used it as an excuse to their fiance’ to stave off marriage because they’re too chicken to just tell them they’re not ready to get married again. Even for religious folk, to me it’s just a sanctioned lie and the people I’ve known have used this to their own purposes.

    • lunabell says:

Exactly! You can only get an annulment for very specific circumstances – whenever people try to use it as some sort of eraser to their past marriage it always has a hint of denial to it.

    • Melissa says:

Agreed. I especially think that you shouldn’t be able to get an annulment when you have a child that is a product of the marriage.

  9. NotaBitterBetty says:

Or how about this theory, ITW made some absolute BS up. For the love of God, does anybody actually believe this ridiculous story? I understand it’s much easier to condemn Blake and think the worst but come on people. Pick a better imagined, made up story to believe.

  10. another nina says:

I think Scarlett considers herself Jewish (as her mom), so I doubt there was a church wedding. (yes, she did attend danish church in nyc but mostly to keep up with danish traditions, etc.)

  11. LeeLoo says:

Blake is a major downgrade from Scarlett. Blake is really fugly to me. She also can’t act her way out of a paper bag.

  12. merc says:

One person’s “downgrade” is another person’s “upgrade.” Hell they may actually love and care for each other, who knows.

  13. iseepinkelefants says:

Does he have to give up the green card if they get it annulled? I mean you know he had to have gotten one (how else does he stay here for so long even when he’s not working?).

As mcuh as I dislike ScarJo I think she was probably more serious than Blake could be. For someone who is looking for a wife and mother to his children, he sure picks “fresh meat”. I mean if ScarJo was too immature, what is Blake? She’s yopunger and more ambitious. Unlike ScarJo she hasn’t made it yet. And yes it shames me to admit that ScarJo is a-list (but only because of name. If it weren’t for hype she’d probably be b at best).

  14. Pauly says:

I think all must put this in proper perspective: this is a GOSSIP site; now I don’t know about anyone else, but Leonardo and Blake were WAY better for gossip then Reynolds and Blake ever will be. I don’t even like Leo; I think he is overrated, but he is much more interesting than Reynolds. These two (Blake and Reynolds) are as interesting as a glass of water; why even comment on them. I think this was what Lainey was trying to get at. After all, she has a GOSSIP site…….

  15. Kosmos says:

Blake doesn’t seem to be very talented as an actress, from what I have seen. Ryan certainly has more promise as an actor. After his last marriage, I somehow do not think he’ll jump into another marriage, but it’s possible.

  16. Turtle Dove says:

I think that people are forgetting one important fact: You can’t get an annulment AFTER you’ve been divorced for a year. Ryan would have had to seek an annulment after their separation, not a year post-divorce.

    Such a silly story.

  17. molly says:

I dont know how these things work, but they are already divorced so how can they be annuled?

  18. D.C says:

    Ryan Reynolds = Brad Pitt
