Duchess Kate in a cream Roland Mouret gown: fussy bridal or beautiful?

Last night in London, Prince William and Duchess Kate made yet another outing. I can hardly believe they’ve gone this long without a vacation! I don’t want to refer to this outing as a “public event” or “public appearance” because it wasn’t really. William gave a speech at a meeting of the Thirty Club at Claridge’s. The Mail describes the Thirty Club as “some of the most powerful men and women in advertising and the media.” CoughcoughIlluminaticough. Kate was just along for the ride – “to support” William during his speech. So… even though she wasn’t the main event, she still dressed up. I would too if I was hanging out with the Illuminati.

Early reports indicate that Kate’s long-sleeved, center-slit cream gown is Roland Mouret. I really like Mouret – and I really like this dress, so I’ll buy that. I wish you could see more of the detailing on this gown in these photos, but it seems like The Mail has some of the best shots of the gown in different angles – go here to see. Should we talk about Kate’s hair? She should be wearing it up. She’s not. It’s not the length… it’s how she styles it.

Oh, but my favorite part? THE DUCHESS IS WITHOUT PANTYHOSE. OMG. You can clearly see her little toes and her righteous pedicure. Love the dark pink toenails! The shoes are Jimmy Choo – do you think Kate is trying to be more adventurous in her shoewear these days?

Anyway, here’s more about the event:

Founded in 1905 for the ‘betterment of advertising’, the Thirty Club monthly dinners are a chance for the movers and shakers of the industry to meet, discuss issues of the day and sometimes even seal deals.

The man with the keys to entry is Bartle Bogle Hegarty’s Nigel Bogle but it also attracts big media players including Michael Grade, Lord Puttnam and Stephen Carter. Rupert Murdoch is believed to have attended one dinner, although clearly in light of recent events was not present yesterday.

Their meetings feature a guest speaker – in this case Prince William who was following in the footsteps of many other senior royals who have made address including his late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, his grand-father Prince Philip and aunt Princess Anne. The Duchess was accompanying him, palace sources said, for support.

A St James’s Palace spokesman said William had decided to attend in honour of the Queen’s jubilee and his own 30th birthday next month.

‘The Duke has been invited for around nine years now and thought that it was right to accept the invitation this year because of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. It also seemed rather apt as it his 30th birthday next month,’ they said. ‘Other senior members of the Royal Family also suggested that it was an interesting event to attend.’

They declined to say what issues his speech would be tackling, however, as it was ‘a private occasion’ and the engagement was not publicised in advance The Thirty Club was named after its 30 founder members – ten senior figures from the advertising industry, those who advertise and the media. Today it still has 30 full members on roughly the same line, but has expanded its number of include some associate members.

Some refer to Thirty Club members as ‘peacocks’ and their dinners as a ‘great flurry of feathers’. Apparently a great deal of meaning is written into the table plans and the further you sit away from ‘the top table’, the less influential you are considered – although clearly the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had little to worry about there.

[From The Mail]

I realize that William gets invited to all kinds of things, but when it’s an Illuminati meeting of influential press people, you would think that William would know better than to shine them on for nine years in a row. THAT is why he and Kate get so much bad press about all of their vacations. Well, that and the fact that they vacation all the time.

I’m beginning to think she’s actually afraid it would kill her it she wore her hair up. Is it magic? Does it only work if it’s down? What does it do?

    • Seagulls says:

It probably has super powers, like Wonder Woman’s bracelets and Lasso of Truth.

    • Zelda says:

Agreed–it should be up with that gown, because the shoulders are so detailed. All the hair just clutters it up and fails to show off the dress.

Maybe it hides all the robot buttons at the back of her neck.

      • original almond says:

LOL, they wouldn’t want anyone to mess with the settings. Though, if I were them, I’d set her on ultra-hard-working mode. Bitch needs it.

      • Nancy Blue says:

Out again in killer heels with hair UP!
Makes her look rather manly tho’.
Rather low neckline too, not a Royal
        like image.

Why are the DM so synchophanyic – so
much so that they are losing readers?

    • anne_000 says:

I agree that the hair should have been styled differently. She reminds me of a college student when she wears it down, except that the average college student would have been smart enough to wear it up this time.

I guess she thinks wearing it down is a teflon defense against criticisms about her hair, but it has the opposite effect.

  2. Zelda says:

My early-morning eyeballs have been offended by some serious Vegas-stripper shoes. They are very black-light-mirrored-stage-$16-rum-and-coke-looking…

Is there a pic of the dress from the back? I can’t tell if it has tuck pleats at the back hip, or if it is badly fitted..I suspect the former, but I’d love to know.

    • Zelda says:

      COMMENT AMMENDMENT:
Nevermind–I see the tucks in the link where, you’re right, the dress can be seen much better. I like it. Sleeves in eveningwear are dure for a comeback.

    • Anguishedcorn says:

ITA re: those shoes. Couldn’t have said it better myself.

    • The Original Mia says:

Thought the same thing when I saw them last night. Those are high class stripper shoes.

    • Mack says:

Aren’t they the same shoes she wore with that lavender BAFTA dress in LA during her royal tour?

  3. carrie says:

    great look

  4. Bite me aka aniston says:

    Lovely, just lovely

    • Tiffany says:

I love the dress. Very soft and beautiful looking. I adore the simplicity of it.

      • DrM says:

Love the dress, the hair and the shoes…and the comments from people who have NO clue about anything. Particularly about Penny Juror who is a bottom feeding trashy, muck racking tw*t. She’s a Charles apologist plain and simple. Look Prince William has a job, he gets up, puts his legs in his trousers and goes to work. And if the Duchess wishes to stay at home well guess what? Its her right, just like any other woman. There is no conspiracy, no secrets no nothing. The Monarchy does its thing as its been doing for many hundreds of years. Move along peasants nothing to see here…

      • LAK says:

@DrM – i bet you thought Andrew Morton’s book was gospel.

  5. Luise says:

Boring dress and too much hair. The hair is getting fuller and thicker by the minute. It looks like it is going to take over her head. Instead of Duchess Waity she is morphing into Duchess Cousin It. LOL.

    • Nancy Blue says:

Hair and head often appear to be same size as upper body – grotesque. Not quite so much open mouthed inane grinning now. Has someone whispered in her ear how smug and ugly it looked?

  6. INeedANap says:

More proof that she has no sense of style. Those horrid glitter platform sandals are tacky, hideous, and completely clash with the dress, both in style and color. The long hair left loose kills the sleek lines of the gown. And with the general lack of color in the outfit, she needed some tinted lippy in a bad way. The gown might be gorgeous, but she has no idea how to make it look beautiful.

  7. Cathy says:

Perhaps she could of worn her hair loosely up. But all in all I like the dress on her. And your right Kaiser, I can’t believe she doesn’t have pantyhose on. Perhaps she’s gone commando.

  8. operagirl says:

I love the dress and the shoes. LOL.

    • Lee says:

So do I. I love the sparkly shoe contrasting with the elegant simplicity of the gown. The shoes (and the matching bag) are the jewellery.

  9. ANGELIC 20 says:

i love this dress on Carla Brunei and amber both of them styled it better look more demure and have a body of the dress fits them .here is a link so everyone can see it:

    http://royaldish.com/index.php?topic=7433.msg461594;topicseen#msg461594

my problem with this dress is that or i say Kate is she can’t get a balance .i am Asian so i always dress up conservatively and probably the reason why i loved this dress so much.you can see that the slit is going right up to her knickers ,she is looking more like Hollywood celebrity then royalty .before everyone jump on mean i want to say that there is balance between being stylish and conservative that she do not get .Carla Brunei is wearing the same dress but she fixed her slit ,something Kate should have done . dressing up is the only thing she seems to do and yet she is either old and boring or completely inappropriate. on the link someone said that Michelle Williams , Emma Watson and Emma Stone are the good examples of dressing up conservatively (well most of the time ) and yet being stylish and i agree.

    • Zelda says:

Wow, Carla Bruni looks amazing in that dress.
But I really don’t mind the high slit.

    • HoustonGrl says:

After seeing Carla in that dress, I actually had the opposite reaction. Kate seems to be wearing a more conservative (less fitted) version (albeit with a slit). It looks better on Carla, more tailored, and the sleeves are less puffy.

I think Kate looks nice, but an updo would have been SO MUCH BETTER. I liked the Met Gala where everyone seemed to be wearing a long-sleeved dress with their hair in a high bun. It looks really elegant.

      • ANGELIC 20 says:

The reason the dress is not working on Kate for me is because it is not fitted properly , also Kate slit is going right up to her knickers ,you can see her whole legs where Carla’s cut is so below the knee that it is only very little amount of leg below the knees.Carla’s version is so classy and stylish and i love the color, too bad she is not the first lady anymore i loved her style ,very classy and appropriate.

    • ANGELIC 20 says:

she is royalty and back in England we already have enough photos of her crouch. the same freaking dress looks so much better on Carla and Amber ,why can’t she just get it fixed ? there are somethings that money can’t buy and taste , style , personality are few of them and she is the best example . i also agree with the shoes ,they are looking so so cheap.

    • LAK says:

oh my, is that inner thigh i see?!

honestly, i do not want to be thinking about her underwear situation.

So much for demure. How does Carla Bruni, Miss i have slept my way through the entire rock fraternity, manage to look demure and elegant in the same dress. And no inner thigh to think about. And she’s wearing low-no heels.

  10. ShazBot says:

I’m pretty sure those are the shoes she wore to the BAFTA event in LA last year…so not really getting more adventurous, she already had those in her closet! Not really sure they go with that dress though…and her hair up in a loose bun, with a side part would have looked lovely I think

    • bluhare says:

I should go back and look at the Jenny Packham dress last year because I think she wore them with it as well.

I like the dress on her. I thought Carla looked a bit dowdy. Don’t know who Amber is.

The shoes match her bag and in my OCD world that’s a definite “do”.

      • LAK says:

i loved her pink Jenny Packham dress. She got the details right with that one.

I think ultimately for me it’s the fact that she shops alot, and yet doesn’t really know how to finish off an outfit.

She’s better with a theme ie demure wedding dress. check. Wimbledon. check. Canada day. check. visit to anne of green gables author [whose character is envisioned in sailor dress]. check

perhaps she needs to add that to her princess lessons.

  11. Shay Kay says:

She looks lovely imo although I too wish she’d do a loose up do.
She and Will appear very happy together.

  12. Darlene says:

    She looks lovely!

  13. SamiHami says:

She looks really good in that dress. It totally works on her. I don’t get the “fussy bridal” reference; just because a dress is white doesn’t make it look “bridal.” This dress, with its styling, looks nothing at all like a bridal gown.

As for her hair, she has beautiful, shiny hair. It would be a crime to wear it up and hide it. She wears it down all the time because that is what looks best on her.

Overall, one of her best looks yet.

  14. Me says:

I think she is beautiful and I love her style. Its a little Angelina Jolie but it works for her. She doesnt have the bum or boobs to pull off much else. She’s like a cross between Angelina Jolie and Victoria Beckham. Love it.

  15. stephanie says:

nice outfit. she closed her own car door. she needs a vacation.

  16. Jenny says:

It’s something about people who give up their souls to the devil in exchange for fame/money. Also if you kill someone you get even more fame/money. I read somewhere that Jay-Z’s sacrifice was Aaliyah and Ray J’s sacrifice was Whitney.

    • TruthTella says:

Except that Jay Z was famous already and Ray Jay is no more successful than he ever was…

  17. lucy2 says:

I like it, I don’t think it looks bridal at all.

  18. picopink says:

The dress looks beautiful and classic on her, but the shoes don’t match and take away from the elegance. They look cheap and flashy like something Snooki would wear.

  19. spinner says:

    She looks gorgeous. Absolute perfection.

  20. L says:

Apparently the rule is the english royals don’t have to wear hose if it is a floor length gown. Otherwise, the hose is ‘required’ (aka grandma says so) for outfits that show legs at official events in the commonwealth.

Which just makes the queen sound like my own gram.

And the shoes are fantastic! Jimmy Choos are pretty amazing. It’s a slight platform which is the trend in high end heels these days. And it works with the bag. I agree that she should have worn the hair up though.

For those of you who are calling them stripper heels-clearly you haven’t seen any strippers in a long time. Those shoes are tame compared to those.

    • LAK says:

Actually the hose and court shoes are mandatory at all times except when you are attending a private function or with hubbs in a private capacity which this was. ditto trousers.

The other royals get around it by wearing sling backs – see Beatrice at Royal wedding.

  21. tessa says:

I don’t have problem with the dress but someone from the Palace really have to teach her how to get out of the car without showing off her upper inner thigh (or sometimes her crotch). Like this : http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2012/05/09/article-2141445-12FE16A4000005DC-100_634x740.jpg

Doesn’t have to be in elegance manner if that’s so hard for her, but at least less embarrassing. I understand the ‘showing off my sexy legs and crotch’ thing was her habit since before the royal wedding, but she’s a Duchess now, not an ‘attention seeker’ hollywood actress (or maybe that’s her secret desire?)

The dress (in teal color) was seen on France’s First Lady Carla Bruni at a State Dinner in 2010 but with lower slit (around her knee) to avoid ‘showing off inner thigh’ accident which’s inappropriate for official engagement.
As you can see here : http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DpElpVJvODU/T6mxG7XWiRI/AAAAAAAA07o/Plj_LwZe8HY/s1600/22.jpg

    • The Original Mia says:

Wow. Carla looks amazing. I love the color. And yes, take the slit a few inches lower and no flashing of the royal thigh.

  22. ladybert62 says:

I like the dress; I like her hair; I dont like the toe nail polish.

  23. The Original Mia says:

I like the dress, but that slit is a might tad too high on her. I have no interest in the royal crotch.

  24. Abby says:

HER TOES! Ahh! She looks 10 feet tall. And I’d love to see what she would look like with an undo.

  25. Kara Ann says:

I think that Kate looks lovely.

I doubt that it is unusual for William to be offered speaking engagements continually. I guess that people figure sooner or later he might say yes. I believe that he will continue to ramp up his personal appearances and royal engagements. Personally, I think he’s smart to stay away from events where he would continually be in the headlines. He’s got from now ’til the day he dies to be in the limelight. Slowly and steadily seems to be a good way to handle it to me.

  26. Mara says:

Elegant dress but the shoes not so much ,she is very pretty.

  27. Luise says:

She has such HUGE feet in those HUGE hooker shoes!

  28. loma says:

    SHE”S SO BORING

  29. Alti says:

Am i the only one who thinks she has no neck? 🙂 There is only her big “hair-head” and the dress, but something between is missing…

  30. Reece says:

So this is the real Illuminati not the JayZ/Beyonce throwing up a sign BS?

    Pretty dress and clutch.
Mail said those are the ones she wore in LA…hmmm…at least they aren’t pumps.
Are those old school Jimmy Choo cuz I swear I wore the black knock offs to my prom, in the 90’s.
I TRIED TO NOT BE SNARKY! I tried.

  31. Minxx says:

Nice dress but the fit is off.. it’s hanging off her bum and there is too much fabric on the back. Also, the slit is a tad too high. She must treat her hair as a security blanket- this dress is screaming for a demure updo and she’s repeating, yet again, the flowing locks look.

  32. GoodCapon says:

I could see Angelina Jolie wearing this dress. The big difference is that she would be able to pull this off whereas it’s wasted on a cheap, tacky woman like Kate.

  33. Mich says:

Meh. She is a pretty girl but I never seem to think of her as a ‘woman’. Maybe it is the hair? Maybe the beanpole figure?

    • Violet says:

I agree… hard to see her as a “woman”, more like an over-ripe fruit that refuses to fall off the tree. All image, no substance. And even then, that dress just hung on her like it would on a hanger. Notice the big puff on the dress’s back that her arse couldn’t fill in. Carla Bruni filled that dress and wore it so much better.

  34. LAK says:

I’ve just realised who that dress reminded me of. Carolynn Bessette Kennedy. She wore a dress like that back in the day, and she looked fabulous.

    http://carolynbessette.tumblr.com/post/18326440739/at-the-fire-and-ice-ball-in-my-favorite-versace

It’s amazing how our dear beloved Duchess can wear items that all individually are amazing but somehow together on her look blah.

She needs to learn about accessoring to make something like this pop.

And fake jewellery??? with a vault full of the real stuff?? come on!

And while i am ranting here, 10years of princess lessons and she still doesn’t know how to exit a car elegantly…….

    • MsJAPrufrock says:

      Sachi,

Thank you for taking me back to memory lane with the picture of the late Carolyn Bessette Kennedy in a white Versace gown. To me, CBK was one of those rare and genuine fashion icons. She was the perfect example of a how a very public figure can dress conservatively, yet not be boring, unlike Middleton. CBK had a quiet inner strength, charm, and also incredible sense of what garments looked amazing on her regal frame. She had a minimalist style (rarely wears jewelry) that was elegant, avant-garde, yet still sexy. Clearly one sees a woman to be reckon with, not just an arm candy to a powerful, famous man.

      • LAK says:

@MsJAPrufrock – you are welcome. I agree 100% with your sentiments about CBK.

    • MsJAPrufrock says:

Sorry, LAK, I meant to thank you for the picture of Carolyn Bessette Kennedy.

  35. mar says:

I love her. Nobody keeps it classy as Kate- even with her “stripper” shoes.

  36. Anne says:

The more I look at her, the more I think she looks like a mouse. Something about her mouth, I think.

    • Nancy Blue says:

She has a mean way of pursing her upper lip when floundering but perhaps better than the open mouthed ghastly grin.

Rng flashing just too too much, so staged and obvious. I just hope that it is not the bad omen many are saying it is

  37. Michelle says:

I don’t like the dress at all. I like it better on Carla Brunei, because I like the colour better. I don’t mind the shoes though, as for her wearing her hair down–I always do, no matter what the occasion because my face photographs weird if my hair is pulled back adn that might be Kate’s problem as well. I like her hair down, I think it suits her.

  38. Mew says:

Very Angelina Jolie -esque dress but with long sleeves. A bit odd look but not a total disaster.

  39. I don’t see any way this dress could be called “fussy”. It really is the perfect dress for her super-thin figure. I think she looks lovely in it, and as for her hair, she should wear it however she wants. Maybe her husband loves it long. Maybe she loves it long. Her business. As is her weight. Wouldn’t want anyone commenting on my weight. Although, come to think of it, it might be nice for someone at least once to tell me I need to gain some weight. 😉

    • LAK says:

the trouble with our dear beloved duchess is that after a year of public service, if you discount the ten years of waiting and training], she’s shown that the only thing of substance about her is hair, weight, clothes, holidays, make up.

And before you use the waiting argument ie 30years more before they are POW, i will say that Sophie Wessex had her office set up and patronages announced and visited within 3 months of her wedding. There was/is no chance of her getting near the throne, but she was out there.

I am pretty sure that the more waity works, the less there will be comments in that vein.

That said, the quality of work will also be very telling because 9 out of 10 these two have chosen the glamourous dinners rather than meeting real people eg PH was in washington meeting real veterans before going off to the glamourous dinner. I am pretty sure W&C would have done just the dinner because that is what they do.

      • Sachi says:

        Exactly.

Out of all the events they’ve attended since they got married, only 2 or 3 are actually about the plight of the poor, the ill, and the disadvantaged.

They’d rather go to Hollywood and meet celebrities than actually do something of substance in their US trip. Everything else they’d done since their wedding was galas, movie premieres, expensive dinners, etc.

William takes so much time off from work to attend glamorous events and go on vacations that it’s a wonder he’s not been fired. Oh wait, he is a Prince, so he gets to do whatever he wants and he still gets to call himself a “full-time” RAF pilot. Hilarious.

Here’s an observation: every time Harry does an event, William and Kate are sure to follow with some glamorous event.

It’s as if they can’t let Harry shine on his own. William and Kate are hailed as the perfect couple, while Harry is reduced to “party animal/playboy/Nazi-wearing idiot”.

And before anyone says, “Oh, it’s the Palace who decides these things! William and Kate just obey!!!!” Don’t be naive. There is a power struggle in the Palace and William almost always gets his way.

If he doesn’t want to do any royal work and stay in the RAF, he won’t work. If he doesn’t want Kate to do anything, she won’t do anything. If he only wants to attend a fancy dinner, that’s what he’ll do. His laziness is her laziness.

See their absence during Easter which has never been accounted for, so it could be as simple as William not wanting to spend Easter with his own family. Or William’s absence for Princess Margaret and the Queen Mother’s death anniversary. Nothing says loving great-grandchild/grand-nephew like skiing and going on a holiday with your in-laws while your own family commemorates your loved ones.

If the Palace dictates William’s actions, then he’d have been in attendance for those 2 events. But the fact that he wasn’t leads me to believe that William does whatever he wants and everyone else must accommodate and make excuses for him.

  40. Karen says:

She looks elegant. He looks like the loser in a shovel fight. Talk about having to close your eyes and think of England!

  41. Fab says:

Love her but we still don’t no the real Kate. I wish we could see more of her personality. I guess she can’t do an interview but it would be nice to no what’s behind the big hair and perfect smile.

I agree love the dress, l love the shoes but no no no to the nail polish!

  42. Fab says:

I think It would be great if she did a 30 min documentary where you see Kate traveling around various charities and she talks to the camera behind the scenes. It could be called Kate – a day in the life of the new Royal. It would be a great PR. we could perhaps see her with her dog in the park, the camera could show her doing her various hobbies and showing her working hard at home doing her charity work. We could see her one to one and also visiting charities.

    • LAK says:

that would be fab. if she actually did those things.

sorry to burst your bubble but she does not do anything unless strictly obliged to do so. And her only hobbies are William and shopping, holidays and grooming, sports.

Plenty evidence of her doing just that. Very little evidence of charity, whether it’s low key or high profile, or any other hobbies.

      • Sachi says:

Also, Kate likes going on these “secret visits” to charities that are only announced by the Palace in a vague way that there is no way you can deduce what she does when goes on these visits…if she truly does go.

It’s always, “The Duchess spends 1 hour a week secretly visiting teens who have problems with drug addiction.” or “The Duchess is going to be secretly visiting a charity next week.” Um, okay.

I’ve always thought it weird that the photographers can follow Kate almost anywhere and find out what she’s up to when it’s about her shopping and going on vacations, but they can’t catch her actually doing any of these secret visits to charities that the Palace says she does regularly.

Does she teleport from one building to another so she’s not seen at all? Does she use a disguise so she can’t be recognized when she visits her charities?

I find it really odd that the public is being told she’s doing something behind closed doors but there is no proof of it. Not even one official photo to show that she’s truly “working”.

And what was the purpose of the secret visits? Wouldn’t it be better for her to actually be seen doing something for her charities to raise public awareness? Isn’t that why royals are chosen to be patrons, so they can be the face of their charities and advocate for such causes publicly?

It doesn’t make sense that she supposedly spends 1 hour a week with a charity (so much work for Kate eh? 4 hours in a month) but there is nothing to show for it and we don’t know what she’s actually done because everything has been hush-hush and in secret.

It’s always a word here or there that she’s doing something, but unless it’s a glamorous event where she can dress up and shop for new outfits, she’s nowhere to be seen. We’re just expected to believe that she does something closely resembling work…and then she can go on another vacation because hey, she’s done 4 secret visits and she needs the rest. Or she’ll show up at a gala/movie premiere where she can rub shoulders with the rich and famous.

But for Kate to be seen spending time with the poor, the sick, and the struggling? No way! That’s to be done in secret.

        It’s ridiculous.

      • Polly says:

Sachi : I always read your comments with a bit of sadistic pleasure. I like them because you express exactly what I think, but a little sadism because I fear hiding a sad truth. I do not think that Catherine does so little like seems. The royal protocol, diplomacy behind concise meetings with foreign dignitaries, the public events. I’m weird, but I always loved the etiquette, and there are many nuances to consider in the official relations. What troubles me and that I believe the Duchess is studying for a long time now and the scarce appointment, and William’s expression when she opens her mouth, suggests that just can not do better than that. After all, at least since 2007 that she knows what future awaits. I’m sure that since then the Palace helps to study of “queen consort”, how is it that is still little more than a crutch that can only read three lines and in stunted way?

      • LAK says:

@sachi – if she were truly doing those secret visits, she wouldn’t be so awkward or look disconnected with them when visiting them officially. ditto speeches and anything else she does publicly.

btw:- because i am nosy, i did alittle digging, and guess what, you are so right about William vs the Palace. He is being handled with kid gloves because he is the heir, and given whatever he wants. This has been the status quo for a very long time. He works exactly 2 days out of a week, whilst Harry does 5 days. So what is he doing the rest of the time? As you pointed out, his laziness is her laziness.

The trouble is that there is no one to challenge him including waity. If only he had chosen a woman like the Queen mother. Someone who was steel under her velvet gloves, who would push him to accept and behave according to his birth right like she did for George VI.

Perhaps Prince Harry would have been equally spoiled had he not been reprimanded so publically for his actions, forcing him to mature and accept his responsibility.

Think about it, when was the last time you saw a headline reprimanding Prince William? It’s all romanticed fiction, which is now extending to his wife.

The extracts from Penny Junor’s book this week that had details about his womanising ways managed to write them down as though he was a little boy lost who once he found himself magnanimously married the disney princess in the tower waiting for him.

      • LAK says:

@sachi – She made it to the scouts. that’s a relief. i was beginning to think i had imagined her announcing them as one of her charities.

And guess what? there is photograpic evidence, so i do not buy that she’s doing anything in secret when they can find her camping in the woods, let alone her other activities.

      • MsJAPrufrock says:

LAK and Sachi are my two favorite color analysts on all things William and Waity.

    • Nancy Blue says:

But PLEASE ask Kate to drop that REALLY fake supposedly ‘posh’ accent. People who knew her before said that she had a very ordinary voice.
Kate is striving to be ‘upmarket’ and PW striving to be ‘downmarket IMO. Couldn’t they just meet half way?

  43. Jersey Girl says:

Looking at the outfit as a whole, she actually pulls it off. Pero! (Translation: “But!”) I’m not feeling the hair. Although I’m glad she has gotten rid of the “sorority girl” curls, she should have pinned it up or done a high, sleek ponytail to show off the dress. Also, the dress should have been tailored a bit more to her frame. There was so much fabric! And don’t get me started with those damn high-end stripper shoes, SMH. We’re putting our best hooker foot forward, huh, Kate?

  44. Sachi says:

Terrible posture. She will end up with a hunched back if she doesn’t correct it. Her neck is way too strained forward, like a giraffe.

I wouldn’t mind her hair down if it was styled differently.

It’s so obvious that she uses it as a security blanket, something that she can reach and touch when she’s feeling nervous, that it is hindering what could be a good, stylish moment for her.

Her hair is all over her neck, shoulders, and face that you can hardly see her. A half up-do would be nice. Or even one of those little romantic braided up-dos that would take away hair from the side of her face so she would look more ‘luminous’.

All you can see is her hair. She’s wearing new earrings here, I think, but they can’t be seen. Same for her brooches, necklaces, and the details on some of her outfits. What’s the point of wearing such things if you won’t show them off?

The dress itself is pretty. But Kate is not the right person to wear it. She doesn’t have the pizzazz and flair to pull off an outfit like this. IMO she looks like she’s draped in a bed sheet because of the loose fit of the dress on her, rather than wearing a sexy, form-fitting dress. The high slit doesn’t look sexy on her, just inappropriate.

This dress should be worn by someone who is ready to rock the hell out of it. You can’t wear this dress and then look like a nervous teenager/20-something like Kate did here. It doesn’t make for a great look.

  45. Mounir says:

Honestly I hate William and Kate, and I hate the “royal” family in general. They are over privileged for absolutely no reason and perpetuate a class system emphasizing “winners” and “losers”. And to top it off they were at an Illuminati event rubbing shoulders with the very people that further perpetuate this class system. It’s shameful and disgusting. This really is just salt in the wound of humanity.

  46. Susannah says:

All this talk about how people love Kate. Have you ever noticed that fewer and fewer people come out to watch her and Will get out of the car. It looked like the only people there were the paps. Wow, she’s really loved isn’t she?

  47. Bissly says:

Why isn’t anyone talking about that thing she does with her ring finger strategically touching her head with it so you can see her ring.
She’s done dat particular pose a lot of times.
    Or am I imagining things.
    Shakes heads and mutters!!

    • LAK says:

no you are not imagining things. we’ve talked about the ring flash on other waity threads. it’s also the way she holds her purse/hand.

She never used to hold her hand out that way. Also, when she was papped in the park with her dog, the sequence of pictures show her apparently without the ring, then she realises she’s being papped, and she turns it over from inside her hand to the front where it can be seen.

unfortunately for her, the entire sequence was published, including the ring turn.

      • Polly says:

As you spoke, I have a question. I had noticed too and I wondered what harm there would have been if she had not had the engagement ring while walking with the dog. If she likes to take it is fine, but why hide it? To try to go unnoticed ?! But if there are any photographers she muts have it. Why?

    • GoodCapon says:

Bissly, I’ve got a gem for you!

From 0:13 – 0:15 watch how she swaps the position of her hands to show the ring

  48. Miss Grown Ashell says:

I don’t know if the Royals have stylist, if they do, they should be fired!!!
she has absolutly no style at all.

    • LAK says:

they do, as well as dressers. and if they didn’t they can get one. i am sure every fasionista is dying to dress/style her.

Waity refuses to use one. I strongly suspect her mother and Pippa are her stylists.

I strongly suspect any designer clothing in her wardrobe comes as a result of advice from Sara Parker Bowles who is a fashion writer with strong liking for Mcqueen.

  49. JulieM says:

Nice dress, ugly shoes. Someone as tall as Waity does not need to wear platforms. Very cheesy; at least those particular shoes are.

Willy/Waity: boring, boring, boring. They deserve each other. I think we’re looking at the end of the monarchy.

    • Nancy Blue says:

Agree, agree agree. This pair and as often reported, her family, will be the end of the Monarchy, no doubt about that. The Country is in a double dip Recession and all this pair appear to do is take vacation after vacation, attend glitzy events, act like fifth rate celebrities and footballers whilst alienating the struggling public.

Anyone know what Uncle Gary up to now? Let’s hope not further tarnishing the image.

  50. Sunny says:

Sachi: They were with Charles and Camilla at Balmoral Easter weekend and there were photos of them going to Crathie Church Easter Sunday.

  51. Hm says:

Pantyhose would look ridiculous with open-toed shoes. Come on now.

  52. Justine says:

She is boring, yes, but she looks utterly wonderful in that dress. Suits her, fits her, standing out. Love it!

  53. Belle says:

The dress is beautiful, though not quite fitted enough. Maybe they just weren’t able to fit it properly to her bony body?

The shoes… they don’t bother me. Yes a tad trashy, but somehow I think they work…. maybe because she has a slit that goes up to her crotch? Wow… can’t imagine the Queen was happy with all of those photos showing her leg, right on up to her lady parts.

    The bag is cute.

The hair is sooooooo boring. So sad that if I saw this hair on anyone else, I would think it is gorgeous, but on Kate, I’m sick of the look, and sick of her playing with it. Starting to wonder if she does have some bizarre extensions that will totally show if she put her hair up? Even a low, slightly to the side, messy-bun style would have been so pretty with the dress!

  54. Ally says:

Whatever, y’all. If I had those legs, I’d be sportin’ the Jolie pose in those shoes.

  55. Mourning the Death of Music says:

    FINALLY! Someone painted her toes!

I can’t stand when women wear open-toed shoes, sandals, flip-flops, etc and have unpolished (or plain clear polished) toenails.

  56. ice cream says:

Thanks for the good writeup. It in truth used to be a leisure account it. Look advanced to far introduced agreeable from you! However, how can we keep up a correspondence?
