Does Russell Brand feel divorcing Katy Perry is the “biggest mistake” of his life?

Russell Brand

The scarves are back, mates! Here are photos of Russell in Ventura on 4/30 while en route to a filming studio. He’s been keeping himself quite busy lately, but The Mail is now pushing the idea that Russell has had a change of heart over his hasty divorce filing from wife Katy Perry. This story is just so ridiculous that I’m not even sure where to begin except to admit that Kaiser, CB, and I were all laughing our asses off at the very notion.

Regardless of common sense, the Mail has decided that this story belongs at the top of its celebrity news queue too, which makes it even stranger, but they’re running with the notion that Russell Brand really wants to get back with Katy. Allegedly, Russell came to this state of mind after becoming enraged after seeing photos of Katy cuddling up with her new boyfriend at Coachella a few weeks ago, but I guess he didn’t care about that male model or the fact that Katy was singing about wanting to see Tim Tebow’s “Peac*ck.” Never mind that he’s been shagging all sorts of other chicks as well, for the Mail still thinks that Russell believes filing was the “biggest mistake” of his entire life. Whatever, right?

Russell Brand

Seems like Russell Brand’s dealing with a cold case of you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone.

The British comic is said to be “seething with jealously” after his ex-wife Katy Perry was pictured at Coachella last month with Robert Ackroyd of Florence and the Machine. Which led him to send her a long email admitting that he “gave up” on their marriage too soon.

Brand filed for divorce from Perry in December and cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split but now it appears being faced with the green-eyed monster has caused him to think things over.

It has been reported that Russell sent the 27-year-old singer an emotional e-mail in which he has asked for a second chance and said ending their 14 month marriage was a “mistake.”

A source close to the 36-year-old told Grazia, “Word has it Russell was “seething with jealousy” when he saw pictures of her with Rob. He apparently feels he gave up on their relationship too easily.”

The source continued, “It’s fair to say that Russell only wishes Katy happiness but perhaps he should have realised just how special his wife was when he was married to her rather than five months later.”

When Russell filed for divorce at the end of last year, it was reported that he did not agree with Katy’s partying lifestyle and he told her to “tone it down.”

Added to the fact that Katy was on a mammoth tour it seems their marriage ultimately paid the cost.

Yesterday the California Gurls singer tweeted, “Dear God make me a bird, so I can fly far far far away from here.” Which could possibly be a sign that she might be thinking things over as well.

[From Daily Mail]

I honestly doubt this story is true, and I think when Katy was tweeting about wanting to be a bird, she wasn’t thinking of Russell at all. She was probably thinking of her boyfriend, Robert Ackroyd. She’s not exactly a complicated creature either, so it’s also possible that Katy was merely wishing she was a bird. A “peac*ck,” perhaps. Sometimes the most literal explanation is the one to go with, you know.

Beyond Katy, I honestly doubt Russell ever had second thoughts after filing for divorce in late December. He’s committed to sobriety and yoga and has probably achieved a state of lucidity of which many people can only dream, and he knew exactly what he was doing when he filed those papers. As for the true reason for their divorce, who knows. I would buy that her cocaine lifestyle and desire not to have children played a huge role, but maybe he really is into the wheelchair pr0n as well. The bottom line is this — both parties have moved on, and with Russell shagging his way through California, he’d have no room to be jealous of Katy dating another dude.

hmm. I think it would be kinda cool to see these two get back together.

  2. Anne de Vries says:

Don’t believe it for a second. I think he established very clearly for himself that once the rush had worn off they were not compatible, and the reasons why still stand.

  3. Zelda says:

    1) I’m thinking he’s more relieved that he came to his senses and is no longer married to the human equivalent of cotton candy.

    2) I can’t be the only person who knew something was up way back at the time of those Video Awards pics. The pained smiles, the distance between bodies, his fingers together rather than open on her shoulder– that’s some strong body language, right there.

    3) I like his outfut. As in, I think I’d like to wear it, minus the wallet chains, and that superskinny scarf that I thought everyone tossed in 2005.

    • Leigh says:

“The human equivalent to cotton candy”
      Perfect.

      • Eve says:

I disagree. I don’t think Katy Perry tastes that good — or any good at all.

      • Zelda says:

See now I’m not a fan of cotton candy.
But fluffy, sugary, brightly coloured, cheap, insubstantial, and appealing only to kids and those with no concept of good taste? Katy Perry.

  4. marie says:

she quoted a line from Forrest Gump.. The story is laughable..

    • gee says:

      came here to say this!

    • emma says:

yeah.. said by Jenny in a cornfield to escape her abusive father…

I don’t see how that’s related to any boyfriends. My coworkers jokingly say that line sometimes when work is super sheisty…… meh

  5. selia says:

Isn’t that said by Jenny when she’s hiding in the corn field and her abusive father is screaming her name trying to find her? Sort of a weird quote in my opinion in any case.

Could be true, could be fake, but both camps have been putting out some tacky garbage, especially her friends and parents. Wouldn’t be surprised if they did, since it would get them more attention. That’s all these two people are about.

    • pwal says:

Seeing this being more from her side than his.

After all, part of any purported ‘sexy girl’s’ brand is to create the illusion that her ditching ex has or will have ditcher’s regret. Refer to Jennifer Aniston.

    • the original bellaluna says:

Jenny was physically and sexually abused by her father. I find it reprehensible that KP would tweet something like that, unless she’s in that situation. Which I doubt. She’s no 7 year old girl, despite how she acts.

  6. loma says:

Never paid much atention to them when they were together but the way Russell handled himself in the divorce… leaving everything to Katy, not asking for any cut, makes it seem like he just wanted out. He bolted!

  7. lil ole me says:

Early into their marriage I found their body language quite telling when they posed together. He married the first girl that made him wait a few weeks for sex. Probably regrets the marriage itself.

Forever isn’t forever anymore- it’s until this gets too hard we have to actually start trying with effort

    • Justine says:

This! True, I think. Superficial relationship between two superficial people. What did you expect? I did not expect more than 72 days. That they made it up to a year is quite an accomplishment.

    • gg says:

No, she made him wait 3 dates within one week and claimed she made him “wait”. I guess “waiting” means not right after the first kiss.

      They’re both embarrassing try-hards.

  8. Liv says:

“She’s not exactly a complicated creature either, so it’s also possible that Katy was merely wishing she was a bird.”

    Haha, exactly 😉

  9. Agnes says:

yeah, i would venture to guess that’s he’s regretting the marriage, not the divorce.

  10. lemniskate says:

The bird thing – with her religious background, it’s very close to Psalm 55:6. “Oh, that I had wings like a dove!
I would fly away and be at rest.”

  11. Christine says:

“pr0n”??? Really guys, you can’t write p–n? What is this, 9th grade?

    • Zelda says:

I think it’s to get past people’s work filters. I can’t go on D-listed, for example, because his language trips the filter on the computer I am using right now.

    • Yasmina says:

Calm down Ms. Cranky. It’s because the ad detector picks up on key words in the text, and the writers of the site don’t want it to link up. So, they use word combinations like ‘pr0n.’ Kaiser’s explained it before.

    • jch says:

Yup, trips my filter @ work. Bummed that I have to wait to look @ dlisted until I’m home.

  12. HotPockets says:

I don’t care for Russell, the man replaced drugs and liquor for girls and sex. Addicts always seems to find something else to replace their addiction with. I think these two were in love, but rushed everything so quick and that’s what really killed it. I also think Brand cheated and one of Katy’s friend tweeted about it a few months ago.

  13. mar says:

I love him so much. he is so flawed but such a real person.

    • gg says:

Meet a real guy like this, not a fantasy conjured up, and you’ll change your tune. They spend more time picking out their outfit to walk down the street and get cigs than any attention they will spend on a woman.

  14. Alice says:

I cannot help but believe he was totally in love with Katy from all the photos I saw of them and his interviews. He seemed to be on cloud nine! I just don’t think Katy was old enough for him…she is still rebelling against her religious parents and stomping her feet and Russell is trying to preserve his sobriety…he probably still loves her as that takes time to resolve but he’s acting out the way he knows.

    • gg says:

It was lust and they never took the time to let it settle into love before they started planning their wedding. Big mistake, rushing into marriage like this. They might have made it work.

  15. sup says:

the other day i was reminded of how ridiculous and in-your-face their showmance looked. katy got 10000x times more obnoxious because i guess she is still the little girl who was raised by bigots for parents and thinks she needed to be made an “honest woman of”. time and again she has proven how her liberal act is just a pose, that her pr image conceals an ex-conservative underneath her provocative neo-madonna product look. anyway i don’t like russell either but he seems a tiny bit of a more real person than she is. he probably discovered how fake everything about katie is; from the make-up lips to the fake hair and lashes and fun-party girl thing and felt deceived. same thing happened to brad pitt with jeniston which is why he too felt compelled to run away from the deception

  16. Sweettart says:

It sounds like a bunch of spin from Perry’s publicist to me.

Out of the two, he seemed the more mature and realistic going into their marriage.

All of the stories run about how she was such a “victim” post-split were totally transparent and really manipulative.

I think they actually could have been a good match if Perry wasn’t so immature and self destructive. I’m not saying that Brand is perfect, I just don’t think they had a chance the with KP’s mind being where it’s at.

  17. the original bellaluna says:

That’s a line from Jenny, they physically and sexually abused child in “Forrest Gump.”

How disgusting that KP likens herself to that character/situation, unless it’s true. Which I doubt.

I understand that wanting to be a bird or fly is wishing for freedom, but that’s going too far.

    I can’t stand her.

  18. Cathie says:

    Agree with bellaluna

Katy Perry’s whole act is basically about teaching young girls (which is why she uses sexualized childlike imagery) that self worth and power is achieved by girls only through their sexuality. She plays dumb and degrades anything that’s not about getting drunk and wearing stupid clothes. She seems like a toddler and tiara viewer to me and I’m sure when she does have kids her first act as a mother will be teaching her 5 year old daughter the correct ‘technique’ and I’m not talking about singing. Surprised that Brand divorced her. Isn’t that all he’s about too?

  19. homegrrrl says:

If I could see the actual email, I’d bet It’s more of an apology than a plea. I’m certain he is over drugs, but the devious self
    centeredness is an impossible addiction.

He was brash in taking infatuation to marriage with a much younger person. She may be an international pop star, but she was naiive in how addicts are in relationships. She dumped an active addict, but like many of us, she thought Russell was “recovered”. He is still sick, and uses women like he once used drugs or sex. Now Russell has hopefully.copped to this. I’m more certain his email was an overall apology. He’d obviously “binged” on romance. It must have been confusing for Katy. Hopefully It’s a huge leason learned for voyeurs and those more directly involved!

    .

  20. homegrrrl says:

I would also guess Russell is as critical.of his partner as he is of himself. He seems to be in an white knuckle perfectionist phase of “recovery”. He became critical of a

fox being a fox. She was a pop star when he met her. Then he was “outraged” by her lifestyle? Look at his most recent fling. The girl became russells mini me. He displays a textbook addict as controlling, critical, and then remorseful. Katy is young and hopefully is having fun now- without Mr.cranky.
