Peter Dinklage smolders on the cover of Rolling Stone

The upcoming issue of Rolling Stone is a big one for the magazine. In a new interview, singer Tom Gabel of Against Me! becomes the first major musician to come out as transgender. Tom is starting the transition from male to female, and she explains that her wife is supportive of the process. It’s a big step, and I like how Rolling Stone handles it in the preview they’ve released online.

Rolling Stone also features “Game of Thrones” star Peter Dinklage on the cover, and I believe it’s the first time they’ve had a little person on their cover. (It may be the first time a little person has been featured on any major magazine cover.) Somehow Dinklage looks sexier than usual here. This is a guy who just oozes confidence and charisma, and it shows even in still photos. I’m kind of awed by this image and hope it’s a high seller for RS. Dinklage has the honor of following President Obama on the cover of the magazine. This issue is out Friday, according to Pajiba.

We don’t yet have any interview excerpts, and hopefully they’ll come out soon as I’m really looking forward to reading it. Sidenote (and mild spoiler for last week’s GOT): how sexy did Tyrion look smacking the hell out of little Prince Joffrey on “Game of Thrones” this week? I hope his character stays the smartest and most scheming, and that he keeps coming out the victor every week. We expect him to. I also root for the Starks, and maybe there’s some way for the Starks to win the war but for Tyrion to continue to have a place of power. Joffrey and his dimwit mom Queen Cersei can bite it.

  1. Emma says:

Good actor and all, but I just don’t get the hype about him. There’s lots of good actresses/actors who seem like good, down to earth people as well.

  2. Orly says:

    Oh, I love him so.
Tyrion Lannister is my favourite character on GoT.

    • LittleDeadGirl says:

Mine too! I was so surprised when I talked to others and so many didn’t like his character. I love how witty he is!

      • Emily says:

There are people who don’t like Tyrion? Everyone I know who watches it is half in love with him. His scenes with Bronn are usually the highlight of the episode for me.

  3. Aiobhan says:

I am not really into GOT even though I have watched 3 episodes but I found him to be the best reason to watch that show. I like the Starks and wish that they win in the end as well, but Tyrion is on another level.

He does look kinda sexy without trying too hard.

  4. Chatcat says:

Agreed…like GOT season 1 much better then season 2 has gone so far…but he is still the best of the show!

  5. Genevieve says:

LOVE him!! Talk about overcoming adversity…brilliant mind, hysterically funny and self-deprecating (have you SEEN his standup?! It’s to die!), talented and driven. He’s perfect as Tyrion Lannister. ADORBS!

  6. MorticiansDoItDeader says:

Keith Caputo singer of (one of my favorite hardcore bands) Life of Agony declared he was transgender last year and began the change from male to female. So the dude from Against Me! isn’t “the first major musician” to do so. Although I will say, Tom makes a much better looking woman than Keith.

And while Peter is great in GOT, I just don’t find him attractive. I do, however, find that picture of him swaddling his baby pretty adorable.

    • Celebitchy says:

Thanks for that Mortician. I was just going on what Rolling Stone wrote in the article about it. They did claim it’s “the first time a major rock star has come out as transgender.” I wonder how Cupoto feels about that?

    • Happy21 says:

LOA’s River Runs Red is one of my favourite albums ever!

I didn’t know that about the singer. Interesting…

      • MorticiansDoItDeader says:

@Cb, I’m kind of shocked someone at Rolling Stone didn’t know about Keith. Life of Agony wasn’t exactly underground. I’d bet they have as much, if not more, of a following as Against Me! It’s ashame, because I would have liked to hear Keith’s take on Tom’s decision.

@happy21, glad to see another hardcore fan here on celebitchy. πŸ‘ŠπŸ‘Š

  7. foozy says:

LOVE PETER!!! HE’S BRILLANT!!! GAME OF THRONES HIS PRACTICALLY HIS!!! HE’S SO DAMN SEXY IN IT. BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO

    • neve says:

hahaha for sure. GoT belongs to him now- if his character ever gets killed off it would be a shame, cos he carries the whole thing.

  8. foozy says:

CAN’T CONGRATULATE HIM ENOUGH. HOPE HE WINS A ZILLION AWARDS

  9. Carlotta Love says:

LOVE HIM!!! He’s so hot in general and on the show. Total badass.

Good job, Rolling Stone! Will absolutely buy this issue.

  10. original almond says:

He’s very good in GoT and he’s done a great job with his character. He positively smoulders on the cover and it’s awesome.

  11. Marie-Christine says:

I would have preferred Adam Yauch on the cover of Rolling Stone this time. However, I must admit that he is a good actor.

    • Happy21 says:

I had expected that too but was thinking the covers are probably planned months in advance. I think we’ll see the Beasties on a cover very soon πŸ™‚

  12. ClumsyMe says:

Loved him ever since I saw him on The Station Agent!!! He is so awesome on GOT!!!

  13. mia girl says:

Good for Dinklage for getting a cover…he looks good.

The GOT scenes between Tyrion (Dinklage) and Cersei (Headey) have some of the best acting on TV right now.

  14. Gene Parmesan says:

I LOVE this man, he is ten times the man of so many these stupid one note actors. On another note DEATH TO JOFFREY AND THEON GREYJOY!!

  15. SolitaryAngel says:

Love, love, lurve him! Tyrion is my favorite character on GoT. Glad he’s getting some of the accolades he deserves. And damn, he’s hot on this cover!

  16. Hattie says:

The picture of Dinklage and his wife stepping off the curb looks like a stinkface faceoff. I am not sure who is the victor, but they are both doing an excellent job throwing shade.

  17. Eve says:

In my opinion, he’s a way too cool for Rolling Stone.

  18. shaboo says:

I thought it was really funny when Joffrey got slapped, that boy is such a little shit.

Sidenote – it looks like he’s got a teddy in the baby harness, look at its little feet.

  19. terra says:

    Peter’s a bad ass

  20. Ginger says:

Peter Dinklage is HOT! He’s excellent on Game of Thrones, Tyrion Lannister is by far my favorite characters and nobody but Peter could have done him justice!!

  21. Lindy says:

Man, I love this guy. He really does smoulder, doesn’t he? Sexy, smart, funny as hell, confident but not arrogant…

Oh, also, one of my friends writes RS’s online content, and admitted that the promo copy about Tom Gabel being the first major musician etc. was kind of a splitting hairs thing. Like, how do you define “major musician” hair splitting. One must sell magazines, I guess, and the more dramatic prose sells.

  22. Suzy says:

He ROCKS on GoT!!!!! When he slapped Joffrey, I practically cheered.

  23. Kara Ann says:

Love Peter Dinklage. First noticed him in Penelope and then read an online interview. That was that. He’s got personality and charisma. I have to say I’ve been happily shocked that everyone else seems to agree with me!

  24. David says:

    He is a rock star!

  25. badc says:

Disclosure: I have not read the GoT series so I’m totally not sure of this.

But Tyrion is totally going to die because George R.R. Martin does that. I’m a little depressed because he is one of the main reasons I watch the show but maybe they’ll change it?

    • shaboo says:

I know I don’t own the board, so I’m sorry if I come off a bit douchey, but could you please please post a big spoiler tag before declaring show stuff/rumours?

I don’t read the books either and really enjoy the show. I’d hate to accidentally read a massive spoiler.

    • eka says:

      Tyrion does not die

    • xxodettexx says:

i am currently making my way through A Dance with Dragons (book 5) and SPOILER ALERT: tyrion is still alive (though i am not all the way through the book)… i also like to chuckle at myself for everyone’s love for the Starks and hoping the Starks come out on top but SPOILER ALERT AGAIN, they are the family that really gets shat on the most (i could really spoil it better but i will leave it at that).

All in all, a wonderful fantasy series that is well written and tragic on so many levels (but i love the tragedy – dont get me wrong, the way GRRM writes reminds me of greek tragedies and those were just the best!!)

One last thing: why should anyone HAVE TO put a SPOILER ALERT on a book series that has been out for YEARS AND YEARS AND YEARS. get over it, its the internetz, people! /rant

    • tina says:

yes many main characters die but I don’t know of Tyrion being one of them. The three Lannister siblings are alive and well as far as I know at the end of the latest book-A Dance with Dragons.

  26. claire says:

He seems like a cool guy, and good for him for overcoming adversity. I AM surprised though that Rolling Stone didn’t put Adam Yauch on the cover….that’s a major faux pas in my opinion.

  27. MsGoblin says:

Yep, you can keep the other actors on Game of Thrones.

    Give me Peter…and his dinklage.

  28. dj says:

Brilliant! Long live Tyrion and the Starks. He is sexy as hell.

  29. Runs with Scissors says:

Is that a baby he’s carrying or a stuffed animal?

    love him!

  30. Happy21 says:

I read the book before watching GoT and was I was so very pleased at his portrayal of Tyrion. He was my favourite character by far in the book so that was awesome.

I’m all over the Dinklage these days. He is just sexy and cool as hell!

  31. Stubbylove says:

Couldn’t be happier for this guy – he’s a stud, smart and so talented. Go! Dinklage Go!

  32. B says:

I saw him on Monday with his wife and baby. He was acting all sexy, protective daddy like.

I really think people finally see past his size and recognize what an amazing talent he is. It’s a victory for all of us who don’t fit this country’s beauty standards.

  33. Snark says:

the interview is good, Dinklage comes off as someone who is really comfortable with himself (the issue has been on newsstands all week, not sure if it’s now posted online). The Gabel interview was also good – I think it’s very brave to announce period, let alone in an industry where you know that will be made even more visible. Love GOT, fortunately for Dinklage he had done other movies beforehand so he won’t have to be only thought of as Tyrion (but what an awesome character). He has a hilarious moment with the writer when some woman comes up to him in the street, great sense of humor.

  34. CB-
The issue is out. I can scan and send you the interview if you like. Let me know!

    • Marina says:

Jessica, could you scan Tom Gabel’s interview and send it to my e-mail? I’m from Spain and it’s kinda difficult to find the magazine here. marina7x@gmx.es

  35. Dagny says:

He really makes the entire series! What a great actor.

  36. erica says:

oh my, this is awesome!! I’ve had a HUGE crush on peter since seeing him in the Station Agent….such a major hottie.

  37. lioness says:

If you want to see why he is an amazing, fantastic actor (physical difference aside), watch his episodes in Nip/Tuck. Just plain mind-blowing.

  38. womanfromthenorth says:

Joffrey and his dimwit mom Queen Cersei can bite it.

YES YES Please in a slow and most pain full way!

  39. Miggs says:

I, too, have loved Peter Dinklage since The Station Agent, and I’m really happy for him getting the cover of Rolling Stone, but only giving the death of Adam Yauch a small headline at the top seems like a giant oversight.

  40. LittleDeadGirl says:

I love his character in the books so far. He is by far one of my favorites apart from Aria and maybe Snow. I didn’t even know who Peter Dinklage was until I saw his portryal of my favorite actor and he has done an amazing job. I picture him when I’m reading the books.

His is one interview I actually want to read.

  41. scarlittle says:

I think he is wildly hot. I’m loving him in GOT and I watched Nip/Tuck just to see him.
I would hospitalize him…. in an awesome way.

  42. Beck says:

I find him really attractive, too. Really enjoying him on GoT, and I’m with CB on this, “also root for the Starks, and maybe there’s some way for the Starks to win the war but for Tyrion to continue to have a place of power.” YES!

As for Adam Y. not being featured on the cover of RS, the issues are in production weeks if not months in advance, and I suspect there was no time to change it. No doubt the mag will honor Adam soon.

  43. Harpster says:

I like that he wins awards and has critical success because he is worthy of it. Many a time people are famous or successful because they tick a box be it race, disability or ‘alternative’ look. Yet with Dinklage, there is recognition of his genuine talent rather than the fact that he is different. So well deserved cover!
