These are some new photos of Gwyneth Paltrow at Heathrow Airport yesterday, on route to NYC. Doesn’t she look really, really tiny here? Obviously, Dame Gwyneth would never deign to look horribly fat, but usually she looks more substantial than this. Perhaps she’s trying a very special new cleanse and it’s working. Perhaps it’s just a really good pair of jeans. Perhaps it’s the angle of the camera.
I have to admit – except for the boots, I like this outfit. I’ve begun to like Gwyneth’s casual style a lot more than her red carpet style lately. I know some people are all over Gwyneth’s formal looks, but I feel like she’s been phoning it in for a while. Maybe I just like to see her in candid photos, without her horrendous flat-ironing obsession. Look how cute her hair looks without all of the flat-ironing! Of course, she’s still parting her hair down the middle. Does she know that she looks younger and cuter with a side-part?
We mentioned this in the links last week, but it’s worth discussing again. Gwyneth has just signed on to be the new “face” of Boss Nuit Pour Femme, a new perfume by Hugo Boss. Which brings me to something I’ve been wondering about lately – is Gwyneth poor? I mean, obviously, she’s not “poor” like the peasantry. But she’s been signing on to a lot of ad campaigns lately. I’m sure her rationale is “it takes less time to shoot an ad campaign than film a movie” – like it’s all her choice. But I have to wonder – again – if Gwyneth isn’t getting the scripts she thinks she deserves. She really hasn’t worked that much as an actress in the past five years, which makes me think that she consciously supplements her income by taking these modeling jobs as she waits for better scripts.
When the Hugo Boss announcement was made, Gwyneth told WWD, “To me, the Boss woman is driven, ambitious, and goes after what she wants, but she balances being strong and very feminine at the same time – characteristics that I strive towards in my own life.” For goodness sake, Goop. Do you need the money that badly?
Last thing – Rashida Jones tweeted this photo of Gwyneth a few days ago – the assumption is that it might have had something to do with Apple’s eighth birthday, which was Monday. Some kind of Cats-themed face-painting birthday party? Sure. Why not? I’d like to note – look how Gwyneth’s face is perfectly painted. Like, she hired the most A-list children’s face-painter in the whole world.

I don’t think she is an amazing actress, at her best she is a good one, but not amazing. She is not Maryl Streep, it’s pretty obvious, but probably she thinks she is as talented as Maryl, and she waits, or probably she turns off offers.

I agree, she looks great in the airport shots. She does look pretty tiny, but in a fit way vs. an emaciated way. And I think she really looks pretty in the ad.
As for the cat face…I don’t think you need to be a celeb to get A-list face painters. I see that quality of work at parties all the time!

She really does look so much cuter with casual clothes and the side part does wonders. I think she’s not getting scripts because she disappeared for too long. You know what happens when an actress takes extended time off-everyone forgets about them. See: Goop, Nicole Kidman, Naomi Watts etc..Jessica Chastain, Michelle Williams and the like are just eating up all those roles now.

I suspect the reason Goop doesn’t act much now is actually 2 things: She doesn’t want to be away from her kids long, and she doesn’t get as many scripts as she used to because casting directors feel her thoughts in interviews and such have made her unlikable and unrelatable to the average woman. Just my 2 cents.

You can also had that her films always bomb. Remember that movie she did with Joaquin Phoenix? Country Strong? Outside of playing RDJ’s girlfriend the girl hasn’t had a hit movie since 1997.

I agree. i think she is doing the endorsement gigs to fill in for the lack of acting gigs coming her way. She never had a problem working when Apple was younger so I doubt its for the kids. It could also be that she is trying to keep a closer eye on her wandering spouse…

I like the booties. But I also think derby shoes are mad fresh and I don’t understand why people hate on them. I just got back from Paris where every chick I saw was sporting derbies and I thought they looked damn chic.

The woman can NOT carry a film on her own. Country Strong, anyone? No one goes to see a film bc she’s in it. She became famous bc of who she was dating and what she was wearing, and we became obsessed with her lifestyle. She wised up to that, it looks and is shilling out her “tastes” and association for what it’s worth.

Her go-to look in casual situations seems to be skinny jeans, boots or heels, a shirt with a jacket on top, and a long chain. It works every time.

She’s been in the Ironman movies, but she’s been terrible in them, IMO. I can’t help but think that isn’t helping her career much. The problem for actresses is that, after a certain age, only the really skilled ones keep getting parts. Think Meryl Streep, Helen Mirren, Diane Lane, etc. Unless GOOP steps up her game and again proves she can really act, I don’t think she’s going to continue to get good roles.
(BTW, I am not making a moral judgement on Hollywood … I’m just making an observation. And no, I don’t think GOOP really deserved that Oscar for Shakespeare in Love, but she did prove in that movie that she could act.)
